We were a party of 9 to which we were waiting on 1 person. We were greeted by Susan, to which I told her we were all separate checks as a courtesy. Sue told me she didn't want to know at that point, twice. Sue took out orders, a dinner salad came out first, but we had no silverware. I had to get a piece for the salad via the bar. Silverware should be at table greeting, always. It wasn't too busy so no reason for that. My soup came & I asked expo for the rest of the silverware. Everything was fine, Sue was attentive to us. However, she was asked for separate checks by 2 of us, to which she gave. When she gave me the check it was for the rest of the table for $138. I told Sue we needed separate checks & had some comment about that's why she had inquired about checks. I told Sue twice in the beginning about check arrangements & she didn't want to know then. She got miffed & told me she normally doesn't do separate checks. Wrong response, try again. No one comes with cash these days & you advised you normally don't that?!? I used to serve & that's not what you tell any customer. You come with separate checks that the POS system can do.You still got 20% from everyone, so sure what the snide comment was for. The checks she brought were had-ripped, which is unprofessional. It wasn't busy when we came in so this experience shouldn't have happened at The Distillery. Mediocre at best- couldn't believe how dead it was on NYE. Took 15+ minutes to get drinks from the bar, despite a nearly empty restaurant. Margarita had a weird bite to it, like tonic water or something was put into it. The appetizers arrived before the drinks. Wings were not good, at all- Pretzel and pizza were decent. Pretty average sports bar all around. Service is okay, look of the venue is also fairly average, as is food. Though unfortunately the staff situation is an absolute nightmare. The horror stories i've heard from friends and even some of my current coworkers who have worked at this location in the past put some of the worst jobs I've worked at in the food industry to shame. Abusive managment, lack of gloves from the kitchen staff, even heard multiple stories of employees picking food off customers plates before they go out, and the kitchen and dish staff is practically a revolving door, you really don't know what your going to be getting one week to the next. Took the family out to dinner tonight which included 3 kids, my wife and I, and my parents. Walking into the restaurant there were about 10 people waiting for tables, but no host/hostess. A quick glance around the restaurant showed there were at least 17 open tables. For about 15 minutes there was not a single person working the front. That was annoying as when someone realized there were people ready and willing to pay for food and drinks they didn't seem interested in seating anyone. It took about 10 more minutes to get seated when someone did decide to put people at tables. Our waitress Christina R was good. She seemed to be working hard and was attentive. The bad was the food. A cheeseburger with onion rings was ordered well done came out rare. It's always unsettling sending food back, but we did and Christina apologized. The burger came back 10 minutes later and was probably "medium" with a lot of pink. The onion rings looked good the first time they came out but when they returned on the plate it looked like someone smashed the shit out of them with their shoe. That's probably what happened, but it's just speculation. We didn't complain to Christina about the burger the second time because at this point the 3 children were done and anyone who has kids knows that you're pressing your luck trying to keep them still for long. The kicker was the new payment method. A credit card machine brought to your table! I love the fact that we are getting these here in the USA, but they don't print the receipt on the machine. So after I swiped my card and paid I waiting for a printed receipt. Took about 14 minutes for an employee to walk by to wave down and ask for the receipt. He seemed annoyed that we would waste his time asking for our printed receipt. This is good place to drink beer and watch football. Hi, Welcome to the Distillery, if you ask to be sat somewhere quiet, we'll laugh politely and still sandwich you in the noisiest and busiest spot possible despite several quieter spots being open. We hate walking the few extra inches, so just deal with the unpleasantness of the inconsiderate people around you. Enjoy the food while you suffer through fifty other peoples conversations that wouldn't have been nearly as offensive to your ears had they had the courtesy not to laugh off your request in the first place. This Distillery is way underrated. It seems much more spacious and has much easier parking than the Mt. Hope location. I thought our waitress was fine and our food came out in a timely manner. Fortunately it wasn't too crowded when i went on a sunday evening so there was ample time to linger and chat after eating without being rushed out. As far as the food...its typical bar food and I thought it was decent. For an appetizer the hummus didn't compare to alladins but not bad at all for a bar. I got the grilled wings which is a must for me anytime I visit a distillery. Something about grilling the wings as part of the cooking process gives them a unique earthy flavor you don't get with the typical fry then sauce approach. Other than the wings and fries which were also good I didn't taste any other menu items on this visit but I will be back if in the area. read more

A friend and I decided to try this distillery since we were in the area. not many people but it seemed like it was a few regulars seeing the way the bartender greeted those coming to sit at the bar and those that were already seated. Had a long day so I ordered a regular marg and my friend ordered a long island. Neither of the drinks were great. I spoke to the bartender Ashley and explained that it tasted like the Marg had soda in it, she explained the ingredients so I switched it to a different drink, the 2nd drink was also not good, I had to order a shot just to say the drink tasted ok. My friends Long Island also tasted like it had soda in it and he ordered a shot. My food was not a hit, how can you mess up quesadillas and the fries must have been what was left over in the fryer. First time eating at the Distillery. The quality of the food was fantastic, and portions were well sized, but one of the two spiked lemonades was distinctly stronger than the other. We had the Blackened Chicken Alfredo and the Baked Buffalo Chicken Mac and Cheese. I had some of the "Ghost" buffalo sauce on the side to have with the chicken. Very hot, very flavourful. The only issue was the long wait, made worse because the staff accidently didn't mark down that my guest and I needed a table until after we had been there a while and I had to ask how much longer the wait would be. Variety of menu options, but food consistent with the usual chain restaurants. Easily seated in a nice booth. The menu is large so there's something for everyone. I ordered the Chicken gyros bowl. The rice was nicely cooked, but overall the meal was bland. There was a decent portion of chicken, but again lacked flavor. They were out of the impossible burger, and someone at dinner was a vegetarian and besides the burger there were very limited options which was disappointing. This franchise of the distillery is the absolute worst. We called ahead 5 days to book our rehearsal dinner for our wedding and they took it for the wrong day and the wrong time. We walked into the location with 16 people and they refused to seat us, and stated it would be a 2 hour wait, meaning we wouldn't even be seated until 8pm. The hostess refused to acknowledge that she made a mistake and even admitted she was the one that took the reservation because it was in her handwriting, so it must be right. I was absolutely devastated and so upset, and didn't get an apology at all for the mix up. Luckily, UNO's down the road was happy to immediately take our table. What can I say? I Loved the Distillery in the 80s and 90s but since expansion they've just become yet another sports bar with so-so food. We went to the Victor location on a Friday night and were seated promptly. The staff is great. Plenty of servers. Bar was full. They do still have a good selection of beers and cocktails available. Their food was so disappointing. My Bang-Bang Shrimp was $1 a shrimp and hard because of over cooking. $12 for a plate. My husband's burger was fine but really had a huge lump of sour cream over the chili that made everything colder. (this was a GIANT lump). Fries were undercooked and just meh. With all the choices around we probably won't be back for dinner. The bar is lively and they have good drink specials so if you're looking for that, have a go. read more

The Distillery is a pretty solid destination for pub food, sports and beer. Each location is slightly different, but has the same great food, beer and staff. What I like about the Distillery is that they make it easy to enjoy a football game- the TVs are labeled with which football game is on, TVs are well spaces throughout the bar, and they are easy to see. The beer selection is fantastic and changes fairly often with both local and national selections of craft and domestic beer. Be warned though- the awesome football environment means it can be loud. This last visit I had the kale salad and the hangover burger. Both were delicious and exactly what I wanted. My partner got the burrito bowl with hot sauce and loved it. I've only been here a few times for drinks and appetizers after work, so this review is limited. Let's start with the atmosphere. At 5pm on any given day throughout the work will, this place has a moderate crowd at the bar and a few people eating early dinners. The wait staff has always been nice, albeit oddly busy for only a few patrons. There's a bar area which has quite a few TVs with different games playing, and a dining area for the dinner crowd. The food here is good. Again, I've only had appetizers so bear with me. The apps I've tried have all been well made and appropriately flavorful: spinach artichoke dip, nachos, pretzels, and my favorite item, the fried cheese curds! Nothing too spectacular, but very typical bar food. Don't set expectations too high here. It's just good. What disappoints me here is the lacking beer selection. A lot of the items are typical national chain beers. While they do have *some* local selections, it's usually just a small handful. With such a great local beer selection throughout Rochester, feels like they're missing the mark a bit here. Nevertheless they do have interesting specials on certain days, and 2 for 1 margaritas every day! Not a bad deal. Overall, I'll go back for the food and to hang out for a drink after work, but may not go in for dinner or to watch her a game over multiple rounds of beer. read more

This has to be the worst restaurant in victor. Not sure how it stays open. I used to live in Rochester but retired to AZ. Love to visit a couple times a year and always try to go to the distillery one of my favorite places until yesterday. My friend and I went in for dinner yesterday and were seated by a waitress that showed us by rolling her eyes and appearing like we were bothering her day that she wasn't much into being a waitress. I ordered a burger no onions no lettuce. When it came there were onions and lettuce on it. I sent it back and specifically asked for a new burger to be made. I hate even the smell of onions on my burger and the waitress was of course annoyed. She told me that the kitchen staff couldn't read and were not very smart. Now that in of itself is alarming. I'm picturing a bunch of drooling idiots in the back preparing my food, which is apparently the case. 2 minutes later she came back with the same burger picked over by some, according to the waitress, idiot in the back that can't read and wasn't very smart. I was so disgusted to think that somebody in that kitchen was putting his dirty hands all over my food. The fries were cold also. I just told her to take it away and didn't order anything. I asked the waitress if Peter Psyloss was still the owner and she again rolled her eyes and said I don't know who owns this place I'm new. I did some research and yes the owner is the same and I am very disappointed that he has not been watching the store so to speak . I never saw a manager and maybe there isn't one on duty but I find that hard to believe. Probably s/he doesn't want to be bothered. In a good restaurant the manager is visible but not here. Something is really wrong with all of this. For health reasons (not sure how idiots who can't read and aren't to smart can run a clean kitchen or even know the difference between clean and dirty.) I and many of my friends won't eat there again. So sad to see one of the best restaurants in Rochester turned into a trash heap by staff. However in the end Mr. Psyloss it is your responsibility as the owner of these places. Perhaps it's time to sell if you can't pay better attention to even big details. read more

Came to the distillery hoping for a nice meal after Christmas shopping. Took about 7-10 minutes from us being seated to finally have our drink orders taken. Once they finally took our app and meal order it took about 30 minutes to receive our fried pickles and another ten after that before we got our meal. I ordered the buffalo chicken sandwich and there was nothing buffalo about it. Probably the dryers piece of chicken I've had on an over toasted brick of a bun ever. I just had one of the worst dining experiences that I can remember. In hindsight, this review feels a little "entitled white dude," but I'm still upset about the service, particularly the snippy comment from the manager about "primary" ingredients. We visited for lunch with a party of three. We placed our order at about 12:25pm and the food didn't arrive until about 12:50. The server explained that it was because they were "really busy." That is not an excuse that a restaurant should ever use. It is not my fault that you're busy. It's not like we were there at 10am. This was right in the middle of lunch hour. If you're not prepared for a lunch rush, then you're not running your restaurant properly. Each of our plates arrived with food that was, at best, lukewarm. My fries were downright cold. I ordered the Turkey Guacamole sandwich; it arrived with no guacamole. The manager came out and apologized and comped the entire check, but not before offering more excuses and saying "your bill was only in for 21 minutes." He offered to replace my sandwich and I told him I was not interested. We were running very late by that point. When I explained that my Turkey Guacamole sandwich arrived with no guacamole, he again said "sorry, it's very busy," and told me he'd have another one made and sent out. I told him I was not interested in another sandwich and it was ridiculous that one of the primary ingredients was left off. He hastily snapped back "Actually, turkey is the primary ingredient." OK. Sure, buddy. I'm sorry. It's my mistake for thinking that a menu item named "Turkey Guacamole sandwich" would actually have guacamole on it. If that's the case, then you might want to rename it to the "Turkey sandwich." As we were preparing to walk away, he returned with a to-go container. He told me it was a new Turkey Guacamole sandwich and "the fries are hot." Well, thanks but no thanks. I did not order this. In fact, I specifically told you I did not want a replacement. I'd have left it on the table if my friends hadn't forced me to take it. What made him think that serving me food that I didn't order would make up for the previous wrongs? The name implies they distill something here. They don't. They carry ONE beer they claim to make but it's not made on site (as far as I could tell). The food was not horrible but nothing great. I had a veggie wrap and onion rings. Standard fare, nothing exciting but not terrible. The hummus appetizer had super dry pita triangles that were overcooked. There weren't nearly enough for the amount of hummus. The most ridiculous thing and the reason they get 1 star is all thanks to the Pretzel Roll appetizer. This is how it's described on the menu: "PRETZEL ROLL Fresh baked and served with the Still's homemade Cheddar cheese dip" What it should say is "sliced Pretzel hamburger bun that's heated up to 'scorching' with a cup of watery cheese." Honestly, what restaurant thinks anyone would not notice it's a burger bun you're trying to pass off as an appetizer? read more

Someone call in Gordon Ramsey before it's too late. The wings have serious potential but the cook in Victor must think extra crispy means extra rubbery. How can every other wing be undercooked in an order of 10 wings. Leave them in the fryer longer. It's not rocket science. Is there a single person alive that doesn't want there wings extra crispy? I could go on and on about the service but it's not going to make a difference. I have to call for service like I was hailing a cab in NYC. Two people on the bar with a packed restaurant is not enough when they're not looking around for thirsty diners. The bathroom was a mess. The hand dryer didn't work and I had to get soap from the other sink. It's this way every time I go there. How about fixing stuff that breaks? It would be so easy to fix all of this with some training and discipline but obviously the owners don't care. That's too bad because the locations are decent and it would be nice to see a good local establishment occupying these spaces. I would give five stars because I do like the atmosphere of this place, but the manager ruined it for me. I went out there last night for New Year's Eve. There were only about 5 other customers in the entire place when my friends and I got there. The server was very nice and informed us wine bottles were half price and that if we didn't finish the bottle we could take it home. I gladly jumped on this (even though the price of barefoot wine is extremely high there) and had about 1.5 glasses, so still had tons left when i left. When it came to leave, a female manager (not sure of her name) came over and told me I wasn't able to take the wine with me unless I had ordered a meal. (The server stated she was unaware of this.) the manager then proceeded to tell me that the police could ARREST me for having an open container. (as if I would be stupid enough to drink out of this large wine bottle outside.) she was extremely rude and unprofessional and definitely lost my business. read more

A client recommended this restaurant as a place to meet, he said the food was good and the lighting was adequate for our meeting. We were seated quickly, and we let our server know that we were going to talk for a while but that we did want to order. Granted, we were meeting for probably an hour before we were ready to order food, but then at that point... we couldn't find our server to take our order. We waited probably 20 minutes before anyone came around to check on us - at which point we were told our server had left at the end of their shift, and never told anyone to take over our table. So we ordered our food, and while the taste of the food was good, the quantity to price ration was all kind of out of whack. For a restaurant in the Applebee's/Chili's kind of vain, the prices were higher than I would recommend. While not a total bust, I'll visit elsewhere on my next trip. read more

Our server brought this up to 3 stars. Sarah was great - happy, attentive, and helpful. The food just ok. Very small portion sizes and high prices. It all feels, looks and tastes like Applebee's to be honest. Nothing tasted very fresh. Everything tasted kinda like what you'd make at home on a lazy saturday, which is fine - but the prices are way too high for that. The wings were good. Cooked through, crispy and saucy. They have a real unique blue cheese - it very creamy and has some different seasonings in it. BUT they don't give you a lot at all. They really don't give you a lot of anything. I don't if it's just this location, or if it's The Distillery as a whole - but the last 2 times I've been here have been let downs. This was the second and last time I will come here. I had a terrible experience the first time and I hoped it would be better this time. I was wrong. We had to wait 10 minutes to be seated. The host was courteous and friendly and told us out server would be right over. Twenty minutes later, I had to actually stop a waitress who happened to not even be on the clock to call a server over to our table. We ordered hummus and two chicken Caesar salads. The hummus plate was delicious. I could have eaten that all night. The salads however were horribly disappointing. Blackened chicken and chicken cooked on a dirty grill may look the same to a lot of people but it tastes a whole hell of a lot different. The lettuce itself tasted like it was covered in dirt and the leaves were wilted as though it were dressed for too long and was getting soggy. The saving grace was that the server was amazing, got the whole bill comp-ed and the apple cobbler dessert. The only reason I would go back would be for dessert, if my friends would literally go nowhere else and if I had a loooooong time to wait. read more

One of my favorite spots for a quick bite and a brew, as well as a lively late-night crowd. Their thin crust pizza is one of my favorite items. They always have a great selection of draft beers, including Dogfish Head 90 Minute IPA -- something most places only have in bottles or not at all. Somehow I always seem to find myself here on Wednesdays, and it's always a delight to see Ashley behind the bar. She greets me with a warm smile every time, and really makes me feel welcome. When we heard this CHAIN restaurant was coming to Victor we were somewhat excited to have a new option in the area. That said, it's not all that bad although the place is a bit generic looking and the floor is super slippery due to the kitchen grease being tracked into the dining room. Service was efficient and beers were super cold, the food was decent, arrived quickly, was hot and not expensive for what it is. We will return and maybe sit on the nice patio sometime this summer but will not make a special trip just to go there. read more

Had a great lunch here. Had deviled eggs for appetizer, which were AMAZING!!! I tried the impossible burger since I'd been reading about it. If you are curious if it actually tastes like a beef burger, be assured it actually does. Waiter was attentive and made sure drinks were full and asking if we needed anything. Only 1 bad thing.
