Stopped by the Distillery in Victor on a Tuesday night around 8 PM after a basketball game. The restaurant was nearly empty, yet service was surprisingly slow. I ordered the Caesar salad and French onion soup--both were good, but it took 45 minutes to receive them. I kept checking my watch since we had to get back to the school to pick up our son, but the wait dragged on. That said, the bartender/waiter was super nice and made sure we had to-go boxes when it was clear we were short on time. While the slow service was puzzling given how quiet the restaurant was, the food was enjoyable, and we'll definitely be back. Hoping for a quicker experience next time! read more

To the one on MT Hope in Henrietta. Must agree the Victor extension has never met the flagship level of this cozy sports bar. Yep plenty of parking right in city, super easy to get to and even when packed a table or booth opens in 10 min. The food is well worth it as it comes HOT sweet potato fries and such great patty-melts or yea the french onion soup is the best around. It was also the best place for a first date. Went here for the afternoon NFL games on a Sunday, knowing the reviews were quite poor, but still wanting to see for myself. I was surprised to see only a couple parties seated when I went in. I sat at the bar with my significant other, and had a pleasant experience with the male bartender. Was a little quiet, but still very nice and didn't overly disturb us. I ordered the French onion soup and buffalo chicken sandwich, while my significant other ordered the boneless wings. The soup was as ideal as a French onion soup could be, with a nice thick layer of Swiss cheese, and a good amount of bread at the bottom. The buffalo chicken sandwich kinda blew me away, with the size, quality of breading, and amount of sauce it was tossed with before assembly. The buffalo sauce lacked a bit of heat, and had a hint of sweetness, something I personally do not care for in my buffalo sauce, but the sandwich as a whole was delicious. Super well cooked with such a nice thick piece of chicken. I'm not sure how the restaurant performs when it is busy, as the other reviewers indicated a slow kitchen, but for us it was well paced (albeit with not a lot of customers present). This place definitely deserves above a 2.6 review (at the time of this writing). read more

We've gone to the Distillery restaurants for many years and always enjoyed the many Greek dishes, as well as the Wings and Pizza. We hadn't eaten at the Victor location for a couple years but would have drinks at the bar or patio. We recently had dinner there and the Chicken Spiedie dinners were very disappointing. The chicken was flavorless, the salad dry and mostly lettuce, the rice and pita bread tasted as though soaked in butter although it may have been Olive Oil. The restaurant was virtually empty, we were the only ones on the patio. The bar that used to be crowded was empty also. Met a friend New Year's Day for lunch, have been prior, it's very similar to the one in Henrietta. Easy in and out for parking, we met at noon, seated right away, waitress was nice, attentive and took our orders promptly. I had the chicken tenders (my usual) my friend had a Reuben, and we shared the pretzel appetizer. Food was fresh, hot and delicious, price for 2 sandwiches and appetizer with drinks was fair. The service at any one of the three Distillery's of Rochester has been great through the years. My son went to UR for 4 years and I grew up in Rochester. Tables and chairs were loaded with bird droppings. Chairs and tables are rusty and gross. My boyfriend and I went here on a Sunday and there were two people - two single groups In front of us. We waited about 10 minutes to see a hostess greet anyone and the bar was somewhat bare... no hostess ... finally asked the person In front of us if they talked to someone and they clearly let us know they have been waiting more than half an hour. And the guy before about 45 minutes. I said I can't do this and I said screw this place we're leAving! And we went to a so much better/classier/accommodating/ tastier bar with bigger screens - the city tavern down the street - don't know if it okay to promote them through my disdain ... The three of us came here for dinner on a busy Saturday night. After not being here for a few years, and having a wonderful meal in the past, I was impressed by the food but a little underwhelmed in terms of wait time. On a good note, all our food was spectacular. My wings with Guinness sauce were tasty, but a little hotter than I had expected. I wish I could tolerate spice/heat a little better, because they were very good and I definitely recommend the "G" sauce, as it is called. My sister loved her chicken fajita, and my brother in law liked his Nashville chicken sandwich. Again, it was a bit hotter than he had expected, but nonetheless, said he enjoyed it. Nothing bad about our dinner portion! Loved the food. Downside is, our service was a little slow. Drinks took a little bit, as did dinner, despite the dinner rush of people slowing down immensely at the time. Most of our time here was spent waiting. Thankfully, our dinner was worth the wait! On to dessert, my apple crisp tasted phenomenal. I loved every bite of it. The only issue is that it was not hot when it came out. Other than that, I loved it! Overall we enjoyed our experience just wish we didn't have to wait as long as we did for our food! Our server was so sweet and funny I do not remember her name though. Distillery has (in my opinion) gone downhill over the past few years. Both my wife and I were up charged and not informed by the waitress which added ten dollars to an already expensive meal. So, if you want anything changed, be sure to ask how much. My fish fry ended-up costing me $25.00, advertised $19. A similar thing happened to my wife's burger for cheese and a few mushrooms added $5.00. The food for both of us was meh, fish fry was over done and dry. Don't think we will be back anytime soon. This was my first time here. The staff (including Josh, our server) was very friendly. Appetizers came out quickly and were fresh and hot. The Mozzarella sticks were delicious. That said, had I known how big the portions were, I would not have ordered an appetizer. The chicken strips were good and I had mac & cheese on the side. The place is nice inside with lots of tables and a good number of booths. There is a cool fireplace in the middle of the dining room we were in. Our server came up to us and took our drink order. We checked out the menu and noticed the prices aren't that reasonably priced. 20 wings are $25, wow. Thankfully, it was 1/2 price wing Sundays so we ordered them crispy with half medium and half hot (there was no mild listed on the menu). We also ordered the bacon/cheddar burger with fries for $11.50. We asked our server for the WiFi password, we tried it, and it kept saying "wrong password". I told the girl that sat us, and she casually said, "yeah that's the correct password but it never works"--alrighty then, Back to the food, the wings were a good size and cooked perfectly. I ordered what was suppose to be a "charred pepperoni pizza" and the crust was limp and tasted like a Boboli pizza crust. This was the worst pizza I have ever had. I really think this was some sort of frozen pizza that was not fresh baked. The wife's mushroom burger was dry even though it was ordered medium. Service was very slow as well even though there seemed to be enough staff. It seemed like the waitress would just disappear into the back for long periods of time. How would you feel if when you checked your credit card statement you found that the total for the bill at a restaurant you dined at included a 28% tip you didn't leave? That was our experience at the Distillery in Victor after a very bad service experience. When I questioned the General Manager he admitted the tip should not have been applied to our credit card... and get ready for this, he could not explain why the tip was added. If I, as the customer, didn't enter that tip on the bill then who would that leave? Not to mention they totally screwed up our orders. My husband and his fantasy football group have had their Almost end if the season party. The gathering was at 1:00 pm , there was barely anyone here and when I arrived I hey guys were talking about the service. Poor at best! I asked the fellas why they keep coming there and they said it was central for everyone. One of the guys comes from Buffalo, so it's close to the Thruway. Same types of comments from all. The Bartender was just as interesting. My husband asked if they had Certain type of beer and the barman had no Idea what he was talking about. So, why go back? We were a party of 9 to which we were waiting on 1 person. We were greeted by Susan, to which I told her we were all separate checks as a courtesy. Sue told me she didn't want to know at that point, twice. Sue took out orders, a dinner salad came out first, but we had no silverware. I had to get a piece for the salad via the bar. Silverware should be at table greeting, always. It wasn't too busy so no reason for that. My soup came & I asked expo for the rest of the silverware. Everything was fine, Sue was attentive to us. However, she was asked for separate checks by 2 of us, to which she gave. When she gave me the check it was for the rest of the table for $138. I told Sue we needed separate checks & had some comment about that's why she had inquired about checks. I told Sue twice in the beginning about check arrangements & she didn't want to know then. She got miffed & told me she normally doesn't do separate checks. Wrong response, try again. No one comes with cash these days & you advised you normally don't that?!? I used to serve & that's not what you tell any customer. You come with separate checks that the POS system can do.You still got 20% from everyone, so sure what the snide comment was for. The checks she brought were had-ripped, which is unprofessional. It wasn't busy when we came in so this experience shouldn't have happened at The Distillery.
