I'd give The Diner a 4.5 if I could. We sat and waited a minute or two after we were seated but then everything was great! Food was excellent. I can't eat eggs so I had the East Texas Skillet w/o eggs and it was great! The flavors really went well together. Service was good; they kept the coffee cup filled. They also have lattes, etc, on the menu. We got them just before the "rush" on a weekday morning, but everyone was getting seated. read more

Everything exceeded expectations! Was looking for a place for breakfast and ended up finding a must go place for life! Our Servers name was Mama and was probably the best server we've had! We could tell she genuinely cared about our experience and satisfaction! If you go and get Mama just know you're in for an amazing experience ! Food was so good I was upset that I didn't have enough room in my stomach to squeeze it in. The Diner is a great place to eat breakfast or lunch. They have daily specials. Family casual dining. If you want to get away from Dennys or IHOP this is a far better alternative. My son and I ate here today. Great menue with a variety of choices. They had a line but you give them your phone number and the text you when your table is ready. We came at 10am on a Friday we waited about 10 mins. The service was phenomenal our server Lance was very prompt and had our food in right away. It only seemed like it was 10 minutes and our food was ready. The food was great, I like mine on the spicey side. No salt, pepper or hot sauce needed. The Diner over all is a winner. Breakfast meals ought to be relatively simple to prepare, yet so many places screw them up. The Diner does it right. I got in with no wait at all (although it was a weekday)...well, I had to wait a minute because some knothead wanted to read the menu up front before she would agree to be seated, but no big deal. My menu, coffee and water were promptly delivered. There were a lot of good looking choices, but I went standard and got a plate with 3 eggs (scrambled), bacon, patty sausage, link sausage, hash browns and rye toast. I didn't have to wait long for my food. If you want to piss me off, overcook my eggs, especially if I order them scrambled. These were done just right...not too dry, not too gloppy. The bacon was also done just right....not dried out but just enough to be crisp. The sausage, both patties and links, were very tasty....the right amount of spiciness. The hash browns were also well prepared....not soggy like a lot of places...they actually cooked them done. I get tired of places not really toasting the toast. Toast is supposed to be toasty....hence the name. Often as not, you get warmed bread with some butter on it, so that it is soggy. Not at The Diner...their toast is crunchy...magnifico! The place was neat as a pin, the service was very good. The only beef I have is that they do not put the coffee creamers on the table....you have to ask. They must have a problem with "creamer theft" there or something, but it wasn't a problem as it was delivered quickly upon request. The music is a bit loud but not obnoxiously so....it's Elvis and The Beach Boys and stuff like that. Playing Elvis probably helps them sell banana sandwiches. Prices were very reasonable, particularly considering the size of the portions, which were huge. read more

I absolutely loved my food at the DINER and I will definitely be coming back. I gave them a 4/5 due to the service. I cannot wait to go back to get some fried green tomatoes!! They were so good. I normally don't eat them but my friend ordered them and I'm so glad that she did. They were crispy fresh and went really well with ranch (and I'm not even a ranch eater). I got the andouille Omelette and it was delightful. It was full of flavor, Hot and fresh with a little kick! My friend got the Texas waffle and she said that it was very nice, Fresh, and fluffy! The only reason they got 4 stars was the server. I don't know if she was tired but I was overall just not pleased. There was no enthusiasm or smile, she just took hours and that was that. Plus right after she brought our food she brought the check and didn't really check up on us. I will definitely go back and hope that a different server is on.... I absolute love breakfast food and any place that makes it! The Diner is a great place to get your daily dose of eggs, bacon and toast (and much more too!) They have Texas shaped waffles, plates with ham stake, French toast, omelettes, dinner food and gluten options! It's not too expensive. Some plates match up with their prices but others not so much. The waffles are a bit expensive for the quantity of food you get but it is in the shape of Texas, so... Also they have decent coffee is you are a coffee lover! The people here are very friendly and are ready to help you! When I asked for lemons with my water, they brought out a little bowl of lemons. I love it when waiters remember the lemon. All in all, it's a fairly nice establishment and decently good food! read more

Stopped in for breakfast because it was near our hotel. Very friendly. Nice atmosphere. Emma was my waitress. She was helpful and courteous. I ordered the cinnamon roll and it was amazing! Will definitely be back. Well...came back for lunch. On the same day. My wife and had the burgers. They were very tasty. Service was excellent again thanks to Kristen. We are impressed with this restaurant. Also, last but certainly not least, it is Veteran owned and operated. Thank you for your service Mr. Lloyd ...both for our country and at the restaurant. When The Diner opened several years ago it was pretty good. My wife and I hadn't been there in a couple years and dropped in about a month ago. Both of our meals were pretty bad. We had already paid and about to get up to leave when the manager came by and asked how our breakfast had been and we told him it was the worst meal we had ever had there. We got up to leave and we're at the door when he caught us and gave us a $20 gift card to make up for the bad experience. Well, I went back this morning for breakfast and I have to say it was worse than a month ago. Tasteless, greasy and it's 5 & a half hours later and I'm having indigestion from the bland, greasy taste in my throat. Nasty, highly processed food here. On 20June23 took my elderly Uncle there at approximately 1:15 p.m. It appeared the lunch rush was over and three of the staff were themselves sitting at a table gossiping. Our assigned waitress (Cassidi) got up and walked over to our table while continuing her conversation with her co-workers. Her co-workers and disturbingly what could of been a shift manager, continued the conversation with her as she was taking our orders. One of the co-workers said something from the back and Cassidi burst out laughing in our face as my Uncle was trying to explain his order. Would have left right there but my Uncle is mobility impaired and it was a tremendous effort getting him in. So rude and unprofessional. We live in the adjacent neighborhood and will impugn this restaurant to who ever we can. read more

Definitely worth the wait! Was told after being checked in that my family of 4 only had a 20 minute wait turned into an hour wait! But after all, it was Mother's Day 2021! First off, my family shared the cinnamon roll! I was warm, soft and gooey and extremely delicious! We also ordered the Nutella Crepe, the Migas Skillet, and French Toast! With my med device surgery schedule I occasionally have a late start and get to hit a breakfast in whatever town I spent the night. The Diner was really close to the Residence Inn so I popped in after sleeping in a little. My favorite diners tend do be the places in the vintage location for decades. There aren't a lot of those places left because they are expensive to maintain and keep clean.. The diner is in a modern strip center but harkens to the past with black & white photos of old locations from Tyler. The Brown Derby from the 1930's was featured above my booth. Nice touch. A friendly young man named Clayton was my server and he was great. He got me coffee asap and kept it coming. My Denver omelette was spectacular. Absolutely huge and stuffed full of ham, veggies and cheese. I opted for the pan-fried potatoes and sourdough toast. It was all fantastic. The manager was all over the dining room to greet customers and monitor progress. Good job! I do not normally don't hit the fifth star on my rating until a 2nd spectacular visit, but I did this today. I will be back and if they fail to hit this high mark I can always revise. Fried green tomatoes... With really good ranch...yum. Biscuits and gravy weren't what I'd expect from a proper Texas restaurant. No sausage in the gravy, and biscuits appear to be commercial grade (not made in house). But either way, nothing to write home about. Hubs had meat lovers omelette that was hearty. His French toast was good. Server was excellent; friendly and attentive. But biscuits and gravy, people! Don't serve it in the South, if you can't do it properly. Kinda bummed. read more
