After many years with out a motorcycle my husband finally decided it was time to get back on two wheels. As a Honda enthusiast he went on line and starting searching for his next bike. After several searches he came across The Cycle Exchange and found the one that he wanted. The Cycle Exchange had a great website, provided all the essential details about their bikes and had very clear photo's displaying their bikes condition, speedometer and other photo's. They also had an incredible inventory to chose from and the prices seemed extremely competitive when compared to other websites. We also noticed that the quality of the bikes they had in inventory at their two locations was much better than other sites. Once he selected the bike that we wanted he contacted The Cycle Exchange prepared to deal with the typical sales process. His first call was with Mike who was super accommodating, no pressure sales and offered to provide any additional information or photo's. He verified everything that had been advertised about the bike and made his decision to buy an easy one. We put a deposit down and planned our trip to their shop to see the bike in person. The Cycle Exchange provide us with all of the pricing including the delivery service in writing before to confirm all cost, nothing was a problem for them. We confirmed that we would be their first thing Saturday morning - as we pulled up Chris Varady was already preparing the bike, it had been detailed and was waiting for us. It looked even better in person and we couldn't wait to finalize our transaction and get the bike home. As part of our sales process we purchased 2 Bell helmets and gloves and they gave us a very generous discount. We couldn't be happier. They provided delivery services 4 days later and delivered our bike in their closed truck to our home. Shopping for a used ZX-6R, I came across The Cycle Exchange in Andover, NJ. I initially spoke with Dash over the phone regarding their 2021 Kawasaki ZX-6R with 15,702 miles listed for around $10,000. During our first call, I was quoted a little over $12,000 out the door. Later that same day, I called back and was quoted $11,800 out the door. Throughout both conversations, I kept hearing that they are a "No Haggle" dealership. Despite that, I decided to come in and inspect the bike in person. Upon inspection, I noticed numerous areas of corrosion and neglect, including corrosion around the rear wheel area, shock, and engine case. The rear brake pad also appeared low. Overall, the bike looked like it may have been sitting outside for some time without proper care. Another disappointing part of the experience was that test rides are not allowed, and you even have to ask permission just to sit on the bike. I also asked whether the 15,200-mile valve clearance inspection/service had been performed, as this is a major scheduled maintenance item for this model. I was told they had zero maintenance records for the bike. Then came the most confusing part: I was given a third new quote of $11,300 out the door. So much for "No Haggle." At that point, after seeing the bike's condition in person, I had already lost interest. Still, I decided to see if there was any flexibility at all and offered $10,500 out the door based on the condition and upcoming maintenance needs. The answer was simply "No." The entire experience felt very impersonal. Every response was either "No" or "No Haggle," which they seem oddly proud of they even have signs posted inside. I understand a dealership has to make money, but they're unwilling to negotiate even a few hundred dollars on a used bike in rough condition. I've never seen greed like this. If you're an experienced rider or motorcycle buyer, I would recommend looking very carefully before purchasing here. If you're a first-time buyer, bring someone experienced with you so you understand what you're looking at and what maintenance costs may be coming. Buyer beware. read more

Bought a 1999 Harley online, sight unseen. Cycle Exchange was glad to arrange financing but shipped the bike a week later than stated (already getting into colder autumn last fall). Upon arrival, the machine didn't even start (as witnessed by the overdue delivery crew truck guys from Fort Wayne, IN, not just my opinion) and I had to trailer it to a local repair shop and spend $700 to repair electrical issues and get it running. Cycle Exchange was either negligent or ignorant, but they should have at least had my bike in running order before it was shipped. I really didn't complain to salesman Chris, and I didn't expect them to fix or correct anything (or heaven forbid, take it back), but I'll never buy a machine from anyone online and especially from an East Coast used-bike dealership again. read more

I went in here on a Tuesday and put my deposit down on Wednesday. That should tell you I must have liked what I saw right there but will go into more detail below. Last summer I bought a used bike on craigslist and got beat because it was in worse condition than I realized as a first time rider. From there I decided I would only buy at a dealership because even though there is a markup, the security is worth it. I went to Cycle Exchange because they have tons of used bikes. The Andover location is all cruisers so if that's your thing, go here. When first entering I wandered a bit and then Eric a salesman/delivery guy made his way to me and showed me the bikes I was looking for. You may need to look around a bit because they aren't all necessarily in certain areas but they know generally where the bikes are. This dealership legitimately has a no pressure sales approach. I think the sales people genuinely don't care whether you buy something since they are not paid by commission. They tell you what they know, then it's up to you from there. Eric is the one guy in the building who doesn't ride, but he still was very helpful. Eric might have been the most straight forward salesman I have ever dealt with. Eric passed me off to Chris another salesman because I would be returning a different day and he only does sales one day a week. I ended up talking with Chris about a new bike and compared numbers on it with other dealerships. I found a few that had the bike slightly cheaper so I asked if they would match it. They have a no haggle policy but they did try to get close to the other price but ultimately we couldn't make the deal work through email. I still knew I wanted to buy from this location based on my interaction with Eric so I returned the next day and put a deposit on a used bike. Looking forward to returning with the rest of the payment and having the bike delivered (delivery fee is $149 per hour or you could always drive it home yourself). I highly recommend this dealership if you are looking to buy a used bike. ***Just wanted to update that I had the pleasure of wrapping up my sale with Chris as I came in after work to pay the balance on my bike. This place is horrible !!!!! They sold us a bike that was supposed to be all ready to go and safe. Well that wasn't the case here things falling off of it and repairs not being made AND they lied about it that it was done.. For one example said they put a new battery in which that wasn't the case. SO I took the bike to get checked out by a Harley dealer AND they found 12 things wrong with it not 1 thing 12 things so I will be seeing them in court soon and customer service is horrible and the owner is nothing more then a liar himself. . Updated June 2018 I stopped into their Ledgewood store looking for parts and met the owner. He was very helpful, and along the way I mentioned what had happened when I tried to buy a Yamaha Viking back in 2014. He assured me that it must have been some kind of misunderstanding. At some point I will be upgrading to a new Viking or Wolverine and will give him a call to see what they can do. I have bumped them up to 3 stars and hope down the road I can move it to 5. ----- I haven't had anywhere near the good experiences here as the other reviewers. I was shopping for a Yamaha Viking EPS last year. I went to them with a written price quote from a dealer 2 hours away. I offered to pay The Cycle Exchange $500 more because they were only a few miles from my house and it would save me a lot of time and gas. Not only did they turn me down, which was fine, but they wanted $2400 more for the same vehicle. I have honestly tried to buy local and will keep trying. For many years, My wife had her heart set on a Harley 883 Sportster (used). She spent a lot of time looking on Craig's list and found some that she was interested in. After asking me to look into them, I always had a concern about buying from someone privately, especially since neither of us have a lot of experience picking out bikes. Approximately a month ago I purchased my third Motorcycle from the Motorcycle Exchange in Andover. There is a lot of risk involved with buying a used bike because you never know what your going to get and used dealers rarely guarantee functionality once you leave the lot. Approximately a week after purchasing the Bike, it broke down on me. I contacted the Motorcycle exchange figuring I was going to be told that they couldn't help me. This was not the case. That same day the Motorcycle exchange picked up the bike at my house and got it in the shop. It ended up being a fuel pump which they repaired with genuine Harley parts at no charge to me. Approximately 2 weeks after that, the bike would not start. I contacted the motorcycle exchange again. Again, they picked up the bike at my house and fixed it the same day. Their service was excellent and they went above and beyond to make sure I ended up with a fully functioning motorcycle. Additionally, their sales staff is great and their no haggle pricing is very reasonable. It is unfortunate that there are not too many businesses in todays day in age that operate the way the cycle exchange does. I have been dealing with the sales people at this dealership for quite a while. I almost bought a bike from them, however decided to get a new bike instead. But i wanted to leave a positive review because during my search for my next bike, Mike and Brandy at the Cycle exchange were great to deal with and very knowledgeable. They answered all my questions and genuinely were trying to earn my business. They have a no haggle policy and having a few bikes over the years, i can say that they are competitively priced. Althought i didn't buy a bike, my experience has been excellent. My friends have bought bikes here and have had an equally good experience. I'll say I did buy a bike from these guys but I learned a lesson. That is not to do it again. The place is as lame as they come. You almost have to beg a sales person to talk to you. And when you do get one they have an attitude. You will not get a test ride. When you contact them by phone or email you will not hear back from them. "They" do not do any shipping themselves. They farm it out to a company who then farms it out to yet another company. When the "anticipated" delivery date comes and goes and you're sitting by the phone waiting for the call that does not come you'll have to call them to find out when they plan on making the delivery. I'm not a "hater". If they had done right by me they would have gotten a good review. Caveat Emptor. read more

I seen that the bike was leaking oil. i could have died because the oil was leaking infront of the back tire . i called right away and told the sales person and i was told that he would check on when they could send the truck to pick the bike up. it was two weeks later and i called back and then i was told they were not coming to pick up the bike and i would have to get it up there. save your money and your life and go to another dealership read more

Went to trade my bike in and I had my eye on a specific used model that was already in stock. When I arrived to go over numbers, they said that we had to wait 30 mins or so. I waited inside of their showroom for those 30 minutes, walked back up to the gentleman and he said that I got approved but wanted to take it a step further to see if my wife's finances could help the situation. Long story short, he asked us to come back and wait another 30 mins and he will call me with any updates. I got a call from him within that timeframe with surprising news that I had to put a deposit down immediately on the phone because someone was in the showroom about to purchase the bike. Why he didn't get the $500 from me before I left the dealership is beyond me.... I told him that I was going to be there in a few minutes. When I walked in, they had the new owner of the bike signing the papers and the bike was sold. I lost hours and It was such poor business practice. With such wonderful reviews, I cannot say that this was a great experience. They did not seem remorseful at all and seemed not to care if purchased a bike. The salesperson who I spoke to in person, wouldn't even acknowledge me when I walked back in. Beware. I had high hopes for this dealership and was let down. read more

1) went to purchase a motorcycle, and when I asked to see the motorcycle start up--and hear it, I was advised that if I wanted to see this, I would have to "buy" the bike -- That should have been the red flag --I should have heeded to. 2) I purchased the motorcycle shortly after (a v star cruiser) and took it home the same day. Literally 6 days with approximately 3 hours driving time -- the motorcycle broke down). Not fun -- being stranded on the road; having to get it towed... (And paying for it); the back and forth to the dealership (1.5hrs one way for me) to bring them the keys ( b/c the tow truck came at 1am, and they were obviously closed ) 3) long story short -- it was on its still under its warrenty -- but the mechanics advised me the problem was "Me" and that I destroyed the clutch. Which in the few hours I owned and rode the motorcycle -- I find it hard to believe -- there was no street racing going on in this vstar; no rev bombing, no wheelies, no smoking tires... 4) they fixed the motorcycle , but did not adhere to the time schedule they put forth for the repair- didn't charge me though.... 3 days later though .... It happened again! Stuck on the road... Stranded... Waiting and paying for another tow truck. 5) I called the dealer again for service , and was instructed that I have to re-examine my "riding style", and that the repair would most likely come with a charge. --- I didn't take the motorcycle back to them; I had the clutch since replaced; but the among of time spent in the whole process... And $ lost... The lack of compassion for what I went through-- It's unacceptable by anyone's standards. I purchased the motorcycle from a dealer hoping I wouldn't be screwed... My friend called and asked about their certification process on used motorcycles... And we were told they don't change the oil, filter or anything else if it passes the "Eyeball" test; there is no real evaluation / maintenance going on for used bikes they sell... Anyway -- that is one person's experience ; hope you have better luck than I. Gonna buy from a private citizen / seller or MOST LIKELY NEW--but NOT from these guys. read more

They claimed a set of tires were valued at $500, when retail from any website was asking $189 for a set. Every price in their showroom is inflated. Don't waste your time here. read more
