I would say everything was ok. The server was kind, not that attentive but I think she was trying. They have a salad bar that you can get 1 trip as a side or unlimited trips but I think that is like $14. My wife really liked the fried chicken sandwich and nutmeg sauce. We disagree about the fries, she loves them. I thought they were ok but pretty dry. I had the turkey club, I ordered rye toasted bread and got wheat. It was toasted but there wasnt much mayo on it so it was really dry. Like I said it was ok, its not a place I think I would go to over and over but Im not dissatisfied or upset about the experience. We dinned for the Easter brunch buffet today. Service was really top notch. Our waitress was attentive, answering all our questions and kept the drinks full. Most of our table ordered from the menu, but me and my husband had the buffet. While selection was good, because of the large crowds I assume allowed items to become depleted quickly. Some of the areas were really messy caused by guests but needed to be better maintained. Food from the buffet was very good. Everyone that ordered from the menu said their meal was good. Salad bar (an extra charge with a steak) was very plain (more like a grocery store salad bar). 6oz. Sirloin steak was way under cooked. Sunday Brunch Buffet... for the price, there's nothing comparable in the area. There's a variety of choices on the buffet, ranging from a made to order omelet station to fried chicken. Most of the pans are usually filled, sometimes too quickly. The food can be very bland, prepared without much care. Met up with my whole family the day after thanksgiving. (7 of us) It wasn't busy which was nice. Got seated right away. Our waitress was incredible the entire lunch/dinner service. I always pass this place on the was between visiting family in winston salem and Cary where I live. It's got a big bar with tvs on. The dining area has a wonderful charm. Over by the salad bar you get a view of the grill / kitchen area behind glass. It's cool to see them slinging steaks back there. For starters I got the French onion soup. It was so good I forgot to take a picture of it lolz for my mains I got the 10oz ribeye, a baked potato and a single trio to the salad bar. The ribeye was cooked perfectly. This spot is in my hometown and I shudder to think just how many times I have eaten here. I miss the days of the old location, I can still see it and smell the steaks sizzling on the grill right as you walked in...anyhoo... Absent the salad bar this would not be a regular stop for me and my frequent lunch date of my oldest and bestest friend. It's mostly all we ever order so I can't speak to any other menu items except for the occasional fish sandwich I order. It's good by the way. Salad bars are basically obsolete much to my dismay. I am a full fledged foodie but salad remains one of my absolute favorites right next to a really good soup. Cutting board has a great salad bar, although they do continue to remove some of my favorites from time to time so stop that please. We miss the pickled watermelon rind and bread and butter pickles. Just tossing that in there in case my plea can influence anyone. Service is always good and as we generally sit and chat for a ridiculous amount of time, I appreciate not feeling rushed. I ordered the Monterey chicken, green beans and salad bar, sweet tea w/ lemon. The food was ok, it had flavor, but nothing to rave about. The chicken only had melted cheese on it. I am used to having a little diced tomatoes, green onions, some color, a little more flavor. Last Friday, there were 18 of us who gathered at The Cutting Board in Burlington for a 12 Noon lunch. Granted this is quite a lot to serve; however, there were five instances of the food being served cold . . . one casserole was sent back; since mine were sweet potato fries, I didn't bother. The "lead" waitress had a definite sour attitude from the very beginning. All seniors, there were three with canes who were forced to wait in the outer lobby for 15 minutes. And it was definitely cold that day. Do not understand the rationale of making everyone in a party be there before anyone is seated at the table. Would love to hear your explanation. Sadly, the majority will not be going back. One final complaint . . one side of our table were served and finished their food, while the other side were not even served yet. What happened? read more

We have dined here in 2014. Now most recently this review is from the past weekend. The location is easy to get to and ample parking. We chose a midpoint location to have dinner and this was a good spot versus driving to Greensboro. We were greeted upon arrival and was going to be seated but actually the side bar looked like an ideal location for conversing. Some noticeable decorative panels is good to give diners a better ambiance. However, the booth was a little lumpy and thought the place smells smoky but that is from cooking the meat! Trish was our server. She was personable and friendly. I would have opted out of having the salad bar, as my opinion it was a bit messy and I understand having to use gloves. The oil and vinegar, no way are they serve olive oil possibly canola oil. Based on that, skipped having a side of mushrooms. Unfortunate the salmon is farm raised wound order if wild caught. The baked sweet potatoes were varied in sizes and we switched. The whipped cinnamon butter was a pleasant accompaniment. Did ni realize it comes with toast on the plate, removed quickly. If I recall back in 2014 a small loaf and/or bread basket came to the table and the salad bar(s) were very different versus current state. The menus or the board do not list the prices anywhere other than "Market Price". A suggestion list at the entrance or board put that somewhere instead of diners waiting to ask staff. This is an okay establishment, no need to dress fancy, unless you are celebrating or attending prom/formal. Our experience was good and enjoyable meal. For dessert we asked for Affogato. Trish was not sure what it was, but did get it resolved quickly, same with our checks. Perhaps a slight makeover including outdoor seating or looks like outdoor dining would be a welcome change. The Sunday Brunch at The Cutting Board is one of those places that is not only a staple in the community, but surrounding areas. If we had known about this place prior to moving here this would've been a Sunday treat for us to take a drive to. The food is delicious. The wait staff is very nice. There's some kinks with the hostess area, but I chalk that off to age and experience. This is our 2nd time coming (actually 3rd but one time it was way too packed). A must try! read more

A disappointing meal. In town visiting family and had not been to The Cutting Board in more than 2 decades. Was looking forward to the delicious salad bar and a great steak. I was very underwhelmed. Service was friendly and efficient, salad bar had a good selection and was more than acceptable, however, the big disappointment was the 10 oz Ribeye Steak which was the whole reason I went to the restaurant to begin with. Steak was thin with very little marbling which is normally associated with a ribeye and tough with very little taste. I left the majority of the steak on the plate. My dining companions enjoyed their respective meals which were the Nutmeg Chicken, but I came for steak and it did not live up to the name. If you are going to pay for steak, go to Texas Roadhouse instead. read more

If you want a good salad, then this may be the place. Otherwise-nope. Prime rib was tough and was more like roast beef with au jus that tasted like it came from a jar. Service wasn't good either. Took forever for someone to come to our table. Once we placed our order (included one trip to the salad bar for both of us), we waited at least 5-7 minutes , just sitting there. We finally got up to find out where to get our one trip salad plates. We weren't sure if they were at the salad bar and we were sitting at the table like dummies. She apologized and said she'd go get another. When she had handed me the one plate, I had commented that I hope our dinner didn't come out while we were still eating our salads. Sure enough 1/2 way thru the salad, here came our entrees and like I mentioned, the prime rib wasn't good. Very disappointing. My husband asked for mayonnaise (burger had no condiments on it whatsoever and none in the table). After about 5 minutes he got up and went to the garnish bar and got mayo for himself as our waitress obviously had forgotten about it too. When she finally came past our table and saw my face, she remembered it and came over apologizing. I let her know he had gotten it himself. (He was about 1/2 way done with the burger by now) it would have been cold if he had waited.I asked if I could get some extra napkins, she said sure. But she forgot those too. I had to ask a second time. Husband ran out of water so I gave him some of mine. It was just bad all the way around-food and service both. We won't be going back. read more

What a find! We were looking for a quick stop to get lunch on way from Winston Salem to Raleigh. Found this place off the highway about halfway. Place is warm, welcoming. Health rating is 97 on our visit. We ordered 1/2 rack of ribs w beans snd salad bar. Also grilled chicken breast w sweet potato and salad bar. The service was excellent. Very friendly and attentive staff. Salad bars usually aren't our thing but this place is different. You must wear gloves to go through the salad bar (that's very good) The selection was bountiful, very cold items and fresh, flavorful choices. The entrees were excellent. Chicken breast was moist and perfectly grilled. Served with a unique nutmeg dipping sauce that was excellent. The sweet potato came out with cinnamon butter. We've seen this place a million times traversing to either Tanger or Raleigh/Durham. So we stopped here on the way home out of curiosity. This place reminds me of a strange blend of Cracker Barrel and K&W. Overall the food was ok. There was nothing Cajun about my salmon. It was just blackened. The pork chop was pretty good. The macaroni was decent. The green beans tasted like it came out a can, and seasoning was added. I spot the desert sampler. It came with a load of whipped cream. I barely used it. Would have rather have a scoop of vanilla ice cream. The key lime pie was so good. Like, so good! I also liked that pecan pie. Now the Apple pie... it was soooo cold. It clearly came out from the back of the fridge. It was served borderline ice cold. I did take it home and warmed it in the oven. It was good, but would have rather had it served this way. Because of time of day we arrived there was only a few tables occupied so we were seated immediately. Dining area was very large, nicely decorated with mirrors and frosted glass. Service was extremely slow. Appetizer of potato skins took about 20 minutes to come out. Main dishes took roughly 35 minutes. Prime rib was very good, cooked exactly as ordered. Baked sweet potato and Mac and Cheese were good also. Daughter has rib eye, it was a little dry. Baked potato was very hard and dry. Green beans were good. We got cheese cake to go, slices were good size. Overall the food was good but a little pricy. Steak and prime rib sold at "market value". Ended up being $100 for two people. I want to take the opportunity to share our experience with you. Our waitress was absolutely wonderful. Very professional and polite. I do however want to share that the restaurant was absolutely empty and six members of our party of eight were present. We wanted to be seated so we could start with appetizers as the remaining two were on their way. Again, the restaurant was completely empty. Meaning all large table unoccupied. I have a very long history with the restaurant, I even worked there as during my college days. The manager was not very professional and she stated that she wasn't going to lose her job over seating us. I would think a manager would have the latitude to make an exception when the restaurant is empty. We would have spent more money had she done so. Your manager insisted this is your policy, thereby I'm asking that you reconsider or make modifications to the policy to please your customers and keep us coming back. My husband wanted to Yelp our experience, but I believe in giving people the opportunity to reconsider the matter, therefore he respected my advice. Thank you and I hope to hear back from you. Two are for $89 before tip. Many, many positives to say. Firstly, they have a fully evolved salad bar plus, plus. Normally I'm not a fan of a Buffett style bar BUT they made you wear a glove and the offerings reminded me of a Steak & Ale bar. The blue cheese dressing was on point. Also, at the bar, you could see the cook fixing the steaks on a open flame grill with wood and cast iron! Excellent flavor, I had the 18oz bone in Cowboy Ribeye and it was awesome! The baked potato was really good. Local, not a chain. Service vice very good and bathrooms clean and smelled nice on a busy Saturday night. First time to the Cutting Board. Went on a Sunday and they have a buffet as well as their full menu Very busy but that was expected. Had a few seat areas to wait -was only 15-20 mins Appeared to have a full bar but couldn't get close enough to it. Was packed. Also have a few smaller rooms and a larger party type accommodation in the back Decided on the buffet. Had a trip to the salad bar. Found a long hair on the bar. Told an employee that was standing there and she said she would take care of it. Nope she asked where told her she looked said she didn't see it and walked away so nasty Went to try the buffet. Lots of empty containers. Prime rib was dry dry Baked chicken was good but the rest was mediocre at best Waitress was very attentive and pleasant. Not sure I'll be going back on a Sunday. Love a salad bar but not sure how to process the lack of importance of a hair being in the middle of it Wasn't a great experience but wasn't a total loss. I can't give this place 5 *'s because it's pretty clear everything comes from Sysco, but besides that it's pretty perfect for what it is. We went on a busy Friday night and because we were only two we were seated right away. My wife got flounder - which may have been fresh! - and I got a pork chop. Everything came with a big list of sides, plus a trip to the salad bar, circa 1983. Our server was very sweet and attentive, and the place had a lot of classic charm.
