The atmosphere at Coxcomb was bland but acceptable, a lot different than Bella which they replaced. Our first time being there I was not impressed, being in the hospitality industry I expect a better experience. The service was good very polite and friendly and that's where it ended for me. Food took to long to be served and the value of what you received wasn't good at all compared to the same dish else where. I don't recommend this restaurant. I don't say that very often. We will not be returning. I would have liked to have tired the pizza but won't consider another visit

Solid spot for pretty good bar and American food. Not sure why the reviews skew so negative. I got to try their classic white pizza. It was a great size and a solid deal for a well made pizza. Nothing exceptional, but still, very good. They definitely did not shy away from the garlic or the pepper with this pizza, perhaps excessively so. But, it was very thin and very flavorful, so I don't mind. It's well worth a spot if you want to watch a game and also enjoy some pies, wings, and other classic American items without breaking the bank.

I usually don't write bad reviews so this pains me because we were really excited to eat here. We were seated immediately but waited 20 minutes to get greeted by our waitress every though she made eye contact with us struggling with our very hungry kids the whole time. Finally ordered and the "coke" didn't didn't taste like regular coke, almost flat tasting. The food was well over seasoned and to each their own with that but I was super disappointed with how the kids' chicken fingers looked when they came out, they were really over done and I spent most of my meal scratching off the black on the fries so my kids could eat something. I sadly was going to make a reel for my social media but I don't feel like I can suggest this experience to others.

    French Dip

Wow! Went to coxcomb because Panera discontinued their French Dip. While it wasn't the ciabatta bread I was craving, it was a pleasant surprise. They put their French dip on a folded pizza that is DELICIOUS. It's huge, so I'm no longer surprised why it didn't automatically come with fries (at least on the DoorDash app). Anyway, amazing, you need to try! The only other comment is the crispy onions seemed like they needed to be cooked more, wasn't crispy and the onions seemed on the raw side but still amazing.

Well, I know of several people (my friends and family included) that went to the Coxcomb when it first opened and did not have a great experience. I went with my wife recently, after the restaurant has been open for about a year and wow what an opposite experience we had in comparison to those that went when it first opened. First and foremost, the menu is really extensive, with lots of different choices of food. Everything we had was great. My wife had a salad, which was full of good stuff. I had a panini sandwich, that I enjoyed immensely. We started off with Calamari. The atmosphere is nice with a decent bar area and lots of seating. The wait staff was friendly and attentive. If you tried this in the first couple of months that they were open and did not enjoy, I strongly recommend that you give it another try!

Delicious scratch cooking. Very friendly staff. Great service. Nice variety of dishes. Clean and cool design of the restaurant. Modern feel. Joined the lunch club rewards program. Buy 5 lunches and receive $10 off your next visit. Looking forward to trying more dishes including the pizza, it looked great! Wide open dining room with a separate private dining room. Worth a trip to try for yourself. Highly recommended!

Coxcomb is the old Bella Luna. It got a major upgrade with food and service. The food is BIG TIME good and reasonably priced. Our waiter's name was Christian. He was awesome. Super energetic and very friendly. You can tell he loves his job. As long as the food remains this good they'll succeed.

I have always wanted to try Napoli as there generally seems to be a fair amount of people there. I decided to grab a pizza to take home one Saturday when I was running around doing Holiday errands. Most of the tables were full of customers dining in. The place is large enough and was decorated nicely for the Holiday season. I ordered a medium pizza half cheese, half bacon. It was fine. I went with the round cut, but looking at people who were dining in orders, the square looked good.

This is a pizza place, but I was doing some Christmas shopping by my self so I just wanted something to go, and a sandwich was a better choice than pizza. This sub was just alright, mostly ham, the red onion was way too thick, the pepperoncini I had added and their Italian dressing made it somewhat better. Would I go out of my way to eat here? no. But if I am stuck in Monroeville it is a choice that isn't a national chain, and is a local business. Next time I would probably try their pizza, their vegetables on the sandwich were cut for that, not a sub. It was not a bad sub, I finished it, but there was not anything remarkable about it.

The late night greasy fix after the school dance with your friends while playing the pac man table top game. (I wish Fellini's had one of those!) The steak hoagie is by far the better of the steak hoagies that I've had recently. It's seasoned well and they actually put the mayo on the hoagie! It starts to liquify and just soaks all through the sandwich the way it should! The provolone sticks are incredible! I don't know if they're homemade, but they sure taste it. And the breadsticks! The breadsticks are just leftover dough covered in delicious butter garlic sauce. PERFECTION! Today, I got the cheese calzone, fried dough, and cannolis. They were all delicious. Their calzones are only around $10 for a plain cheese. And, the portion is quite big too. It's not too doughy and their dough is flavorful and delicious. It looks like they top their calzones with a good bit of butter. It may look a bit soggy on the bottom, but the flavor is still excellent. Their sauce is lightly sweet and goes perfectly with the cheese. It's packed well and is the perfect amount of cheese for a calzone. Would have liked a bit more ricotta specifically and maybe a side dipping sauce, but still amazing! The desserts are pretty good too. Some of them are (as expected) not made in house, but others like the cinnamon rolls and fried dough are. When I ordered, I initially switched one of my desserts for the other. But, they just gave me the other dessert for free! Very considerate. The cannolis, although partially premade, were still quite tasty. Good amount of filling, great texture, adequate amount of chocolate chips inside, crispy outside, and nice chocolate cover. Their fried dough is also tasty and similar to a funnel cake. Would have maybe liked a sweet sauce (like caramel or chocolate) with the fried dough, but I had some leftover caramel to use so no issues there. All in all, a very good stop for pizza in Monroeville. It seems extremely underrated, and I was the only person to be in the store at the time (and my order was the only one for pick up at that time, which was Labor Day weekend). This place needs some more pizza and calzone loving visitors!

Being from the area, I cannot believe I have never heard of this place before. I put it on my short list of places to try, and one day when out in the Monroeville area, I was finally able to stop. Like I said, the concept is simple. This place serves pizza. There is one size, and some toppings to choose from. At the time of writing this, pizzas are $8 and it is cash only. The price includes any toppings you want to put on. They are open Thursday through Sunday from 4 until 7:30. Orders are placed over the phone, and then picked up through the side/basement door of a normal residential house. We placed an order for three pizzas, and they were to be ready for pickup in about 30 minutes. We got one Pepperoni, one Mushroom and Onion, and one with Sausage and Extra Cheese. When we arrived, there was another person picking up, but our pies were hot and ready. The ladies working were quick and kind. The pizzas are truly so good! The crust is not too thick or too thin, and the sauce is a sweeter one. All of the pies we got we liked, but the sausage was a true winner for us personally. One pizza could easily feed two or three people, and they are cut into 8 slices. I cannot wait to have this place again. The pizza was great, the ambiance and entire operation give off everything that classic Pittsburgh is about - no frills, but a great product. Plus, you cannot beat the value. Will definitely be back soon!
