They were busy on Sunday around 10am, so I recommend to make a reservation. We were seated pretty quickly and server came to take our drink order first. The problem with these small places is the noise level. We went during peak dinner and while it didn't look packed, it certainly sounded like it. Next time we'll be aiming for brunch outside where the have plenty of warmth and light with a much better noise level. As far as the parts that could be controlled, I have zero complaints. The food was incredible, highly recommended the crab dip to start. My boyfriend said the mule he got was the best one he ever had, so definitely splurge on the cocktails. Came back here after two years and happy to report that my experience was so much better! Like I stated previously, the items rotate and this time I got the biscuits and gravy. The biscuits were nice and fluffy while still being crumbly, and the gravy was so good - I would have taken wayyy more of that gravy! Came here a few times and have brought my friends and family on numerous occasions. Each person I met that works there is very friendly and helpful. I am not sure if they are understaffed or not, but their food takes awhile to come out and the servers are usually multitasking and rattled. The restaurant only takes reservations (less than 6) online and if you call, they as you to leave a message. I left a message last week and sent two emails to them to discuss reservations-instructions that were given on the voicemail. The person who manages the Inbox, Madison W, was out of town and didn't get back to me until a few days after the requested reservation. My party of 8 was able to make it work when we got there. I finally got a response from Madison and it included: "We answer the phones as best we can but the guest in front of me is more important than the phone". read more

I placed a reservation for 2 for 11:30am on a weekday and was glad I did. By the time we arrived, the restaurant was already almost full, but my friend and I were seated promptly. All staff we interacted with were very polite, and we were served in a timely manner. The vibe was lively and relaxed, but my friend and I had to project our voices a bit to hear one another over all the chatter. There were many tasty-sounding options on the brunch menu, and I decided to go with the Pumpkin Chai Latte with coconut milk and the Cottage Fry. The latte was a bit lacking in flavor and a tad too sweet, albeit drinkable and reasonably priced. My friend ordered the butternut quiche ($18), which she commented was a bit burnt. The price of the Fry, currently $26, was a bit steep, in my opinion, for eggs, toast, potatoes, and a few pieces of meat. Unfortunately, the dish was so salty that I could only take a few bites at the restaurant, so I boxed it up for later, figuring that perhaps my tastebuds were just off and I wasn't very hungry. This morning, however, I reheated the potatoes, bacon, sausage, and toast in my air fryer and topped it with two freshly pan-fried eggs, which I left unsalted. While my air fryer did an outstanding job at reheating the food and retaining its original texture, I'm sorry to say that once again, I could only take a few bites due to the overly-salted meat and potatoes. It's a shame that such a basic dish with cheap ingredients would be overpriced and inedible at such a nice venue, especially when you can get the same thing prepared perfectly and for less than half the price at your neighborhood Denny's. I've eaten at The Cottage on a few different occasions and have had mostly positive experiences. My main piece of feedback to the restaurant would be to re-examine the preparation of their dishes and perhaps conduct some taste-testing trials until they can consistently produce a product worthy of its price tag. I imagine they do care, and of course deserve another chance, and I will likely return in the future. After arriving, the wonderfully kind staff let us know our outside beverages (Starbucks coffee) were not allowed inside The Cottage, and they would happily seat us after we finished out coffees. We were expecting a tiny side of avocado and our server brought two ramekins overflowing! There was a shift change in between our meal but both of our servers were great. The only negative thing I have to say, is that the food is somewhat bland and could have used much more seasoning, even if it's only salt and pepper. There are minimum options for brunch in Bothell but The Cottage is near my place. We asked for a table and felts like we were imposing with the wish of sitting outside and not near the main pathway. Very disappointed to be treated so poorly for bringing my seizure detection service animal to this restaurant. Per ADA guidelines seating guests with service animals should be done in the same manner as any other diner. Upon arrival, we were not greeted but a bartender suggested (from behind the bar) that we could not sit anywhere but directly by the door. This not only makes no sense but also implies an extremely problematic ableist viewpoint held by the employees of this establishment. Against out better judgement we sat at the mandated table and were eventually greeted by a server who then proceeded to be incredibly rude because we requested paper menus as the restaurants QR codes were not working. At this point we had seen enough and left. Really hoping this place takes the time to review the ADA guidelines surrounding service animals. The next guest they treat with such disrespect may decide to settle the matter litigiously- and that fine will be quite hefty. read more

This is a really cute brunch place! We went on a Tuesday morning and it wasn't busy, we had made a reservation on their website, but really wouldn't have needed it. They had us use a QR code for the menus. The coffee and brunch are on separate menus, which was a little cumbersome.
