Where do I start! So we made reservations 2 weeks in advance for 2 groups of 6. This place have been on my Yelp Favorites list for about 2 years. So I was so happy it didn't disappoint. I can't remember who amour waitress was but we where here on Sunday 2/26/23 at 9:30am and our waitress was AMAZING!! Thank you for the great customer service! Love Love the private room! They were so accommodating and always checked on us. We all enjoyed our food. We were served champagne when we arrived because it was my aunts birthday! It was delicious and exactly what we needed to start off our morning. I love a good breakfast, paired with great coffee and excellent customer service. I can't wait to go back. I'm so grateful to a good friend Kate who sweetly recommended this spot to celebrate our anniversary since our daughter was in Kenmore for crew practice. We were so impressed with the food and service--grateful how memorable of a moment they made it. We loved the soft lighting on the patio, they were so kind to bring complementary champagne and non alcoholic drinks for the kids at the beginning of the meal in the same glasses. We enjoyed everything from the menu starting with the cheese board and having both a shrimp pasta and capellini with meatballs--found both to be so flavorful and well prepared. My favorite dish was the burger just since it was so unique with its sauce and executed well. They brought out a sweet complementary dessert with a sparkler which was a nice touch and capped the perfect end to our meal. Given how often I come here, it's only fair I give it 5 stars. This is my go-to brunch spot or 'meet up with a girlfriend who I haven't seen in ages spot.' The ambience is perfect for a cozy catch-up with the cute decor. They also have an outdoor seating option under a canopy with heat. But let's get to the food as I don't think I've ever had anything I didn't like. My recent steak sandwich was so flavorful. I scooped up every morsel of food and sauce. An "unparalleled guest experience" - they really went out of their way to make my dining experience here terrible. Really killed the mood for the morning (fortunately the wineries made my week). We booked reservations under my name and checked-in, and we needed to wait a few minutes as the table is getting set up. When the table was ready, the hostess yelled "Kevin, Kevin" I was like ??? no one of the 3 parties outside acknowledged so I am assuming that's me? And it was. HOW IN THE WORLD DO THEY ROYALLY MESS UP MY NAME WHEN I LITERALLY CHECKED IN 5 MIN AGO AND SAID MY NAME, AND THE NAME IS IN THE SYSTEM??? At this point, I definitely feel like my dining experience here is going to be pretty bad, and (I don't want to jump to conclusions that fast but) we were the only Asian party (as far as I'm aware) in the whole restaurant so there might be some passive racism going on. They did accommodate my request to sit next to the fireplace, a more spacious interior away from the very busy indoor dining area. The aesthetics look home-like and cozy, which was partly why I wanted to check this place out. We tried the following dishes: Ham leek gruyere quiche: this was pretty solid - I do wish the portions were larger for the price. The crust was slightly buttery. Eggs benedict: served with ham, eggs are pretty runny so they are prepared well, biscuit was a bit too soft, a bit mushy. Baked croissant French toast: this was pretty good, the only one highlight dish here. But again, prices are steep at $21. Shrimp & grits: terrible. 8 tiny shrimp pieces that you will get in a shrimp fried rice with a giant pile of grits with barely any sauce, very dry. We also got Mocha because I was a bit irritated already due to lack of sleep and need coffee. Their mocha is made without any effort - where is the latte art that gets shown in the pictures for this place on Yelp and other places? The server hesitated and made up an excuse "it depends on the barista" but they did eventually remake it with the latte art, and it was a pretty solid coffee. But my friend's mocha was lukewarm at best, so it probably might have been sitting for a while, but it still took 15 minutes to get our mochas. To add fuel to fire, we really did not want to tip this place for their lack of service and most ultimately how badly they treated us especially calling my name completely wrong. But they had the nerve to charge us 20% mandatory gratuity - such a joke. Despite the high prices charged and the mandatory gratuity, it was about a $30 brunch which is somewhat standard for getting 1 dish per person and sharing family-style plus paying for my own coffee on top, but it was not money well spent. read more

I had a wonderful experience at the cottage recently! After arriving, the wonderfully kind staff let us know our outside beverages (Starbucks coffee) were not allowed inside The Cottage, and they would happily seat us after we finished out coffees. We totally understand! We happily discarded our coffees so we could dine. We ordered a coffee from The Cottage and it was way better than our Starbucks coffee anyway :) I am thankful the team doesn't allow outside beverages, because that's the norm for restaurants nowadays. I placed a reservation for 2 for 11:30am on a weekday and was glad I did. By the time we arrived, the restaurant was already almost full, but my friend and I were seated promptly. All staff we interacted with were very polite, and we were served in a timely manner. The vibe was lively and relaxed, but my friend and I had to project our voices a bit to hear one another over all the chatter. There were many tasty-sounding options on the brunch menu, and I decided to go with the Pumpkin Chai Latte with coconut milk and the Cottage Fry. The latte was a bit lacking in flavor and a tad too sweet, albeit drinkable and reasonably priced. My friend ordered the butternut quiche ($18), which she commented was a bit burnt. The price of the Fry, currently $26, was a bit steep, in my opinion, for eggs, toast, potatoes, and a few pieces of meat. Unfortunately, the dish was so salty that I could only take a few bites at the restaurant, so I boxed it up for later, figuring that perhaps my tastebuds were just off and I wasn't very hungry. This morning, however, I reheated the potatoes, bacon, sausage, and toast in my air fryer and topped it with two freshly pan-fried eggs, which I left unsalted. While my air fryer did an outstanding job at reheating the food and retaining its original texture, I'm sorry to say that once again, I could only take a few bites due to the overly-salted meat and potatoes. It's a shame that such a basic dish with cheap ingredients would be overpriced and inedible at such a nice venue, especially when you can get the same thing prepared perfectly and for less than half the price at your neighborhood Denny's. I've eaten at The Cottage on a few different occasions and have had mostly positive experiences. My main piece of feedback to the restaurant would be to re-examine the preparation of their dishes and perhaps conduct some taste-testing trials until they can consistently produce a product worthy of its price tag. I imagine they do care, and of course deserve another chance, and I will likely return in the future. I also recommend others give The Cottage a try, especially if they're meeting for drinks (the cocktails I've had are great) or are more concerned with atmosphere than the quality of a meal. read more

Interesting experience tonight... we've eaten here multiple times and have always been mostly satisfied. Tonight I ordered the beef short ribs and the food came warm, borderline cold. First bite noticeably warm (not hot) third bite had a hint of cold. My wife's food was visually steaming. We complained and after 5 plus minutes I received the replacement plate and was about 1/2 the size of the original. Temperature was good, but no fork to eat. Complained about the portion and no fork. Five minutes later they took the plate away for a third try. After another 5 min (my wife is almost done eating) I received a hot meal and utensils to eat with. The food was good, but overall the service poor. The worst part of the experience was at the very end. After we paid the server apologized but said next time I should put on the reservation to ask for my food piping hot. Really?! I don't really come to this area a lot, so when I had to grab food on a Saturday morning I kinda scrambled. I had no reservations so I was ready for a long wait. Fortunately, we were seated pretty early outside. There's heat lamps but it wasn't super warm. The servers brought us additional blankets which was really nice. The service here was really exceptional. My tea was promptly refilled even though our server was taking care of a crap ton of tables at the same time. Super impressive and grateful. The side of hash browns was not toasted as I have seen in the pictures of yelp. So I asked Amanda and she got me a well done hash browns. She said only if we ask they would make it well done.
