Good location in the city with a sizable parking lot. The loading zone in front of the door is super helpful and the staff are friendly and will help you load/unload. In general, container store is expensive and once you're in there you'll start to look at this and that and come up with things you probably don't even need. I planned ahead before my trip and the shoe boxes I wanted were on sale for 25% off! I was told that never happens so I bought cases of them just to be sure I didn't miss the deal. LOL. Well when I finally went home and organized my closet and determined my REAL need I realized I overestimated by a ton and ultimately didn't like the look/feel of the clear boxes. The good news was that returns are a breeze and I had no issue sending them all back. My only advice with CS is to plan, plan and re-plan before you commit to expensive boxes or organizational items that you may not even need. read more

In such a congested shopping district, its great that this place has its own parking lot. I suggest taking college students here...for storage cubes, hangers, shelving...anything storage related! You can find anything from Closet systems to neon plastic accessories here. read more

The merchandise at this store was very well presented. Also the sales staff was very good. But I can see how the Container Store's stock has been battered this past year. They run very, very poor promotions. Their sale running today was 40 % off. There were probably a very few meaningful items at 40%. There were more items that were reduced to 20% but were so,so in appeal. Nothing I would see as a must have or a super saver. My working life has been in merchandising and marketing. I know what it takes to have a meaningful sale. 40 % off a broad range of product drives business. Look at Macy's etc. I usually pass up the Container Store because I know they have some very nice product but I am not getting value. read more

I absolutely love this store. Beware! I cant walk in there without wanting to spend money. Some things are a little bit more pricey than normal so you have to keep thinking if youre sure or not you can get that thing you want somewhere else for cheaper. My wife and I were looking for a computer desk at different places and decided to check out what they had. Almost everything was way out of our price range. Somehow we found exactly what we needed on sale for like $300 and we were even able to customize it to fit the exact dimensions of our wall. Everything mounts on the wall and is relatively easy to install. The employees there were very helpful and gave us awesome customer service. I was a little nervous about installing the desk we bought but the employees there took me through it step by step and even refered me to an online video tutorial specific to the model of desk I bought. Thats all I needed. I would absolutley recommend this place to anyone..... with a thick wallet. Only reason why i didnt give it 5 stars is because of their prices. read more

The sales associate took the time not just to pull everything from the shelves to make a build-it-yourself baker's block, but also to recommend accessories that fit that specific model, bring everything to the register for us, and load it in our car. And although many of the smaller storage items are overpriced, we got a great deal during the Shelving Sale on larger items like this. Excellent! read more

Mainly writing this review because I'm happy with one employee in specific. We were waiting in a short check-out line and a nearby employee hopped on a register to speed up the line. And this guy gave us honest advice about the product we were buying, which turned out to be greatly appreciated. It was a 3 drawer storage unit that needed assembly and he gave us a fair warning that it really took patience to put together. I kinda laughed, like "of course, anything that requires assembly requires patience" but he wasn't kidding! It took dozens of tiny screws and miscellaneous parts to put the unit together and took over an hour. It was a lot of work for what it was and if I hadn't been forewarned, I probably would have flipped. But I went into it knowing it might be tricky. So I really appreciated the honest warning. And I'm so happy with the product, despite it being cheap ($20) and a pain to put together, I'd totally buy it again, because it's way cuter than anything else in it's price range and serves it's purpose well. And as far as the rest of the store goes, it's clean, easy to navigate (I'd hope so at a place that sells organizing stuff) and is a haven for those that like to stay organized. If you need to reorganize a closet and maximize space, then you need ELFA. Yes, it's expensive, but SO worth it. If you are going going to shop for an Elfa closet system, please,please, please ask to be paired up with ADOLFO as your sales associate. He is patient and skilled. He has a great eye for detail and is a trained architect. I had gone in once before and started planning a closet with someone else. Needless to say I did not purchase that day because I was confused and didn't know how to "lay out or organize" my space. Physically going to the Container Store (CS) is a hike from our house, so we designed planned and had our master closet shipped all done over the telephone. When contacting the CS originally the wait time on hold was long, but I figured it was a fluke since there was a sale going on and I did call on a Saturday morning. The closet shipped via UPS; the driver was not happy at all and informed me that he does not know why they have UPS deliver as they are not "furniture movers"; told him he would have to take that up with UPS and the Container Store as it was not an option for me on how the packages were shipped. The packages (all 11 of them) were heavy and extremely damaged; thank God the contents were fine. My husband installed the closet (easy installation), but we discovered the lids to the 10 drawers were too big. I contacted the CS Customer Service line this morning and was on hold over 20 minutes (no exaggeration) before someone picked up the phone to actually assist with our problem. After being placed on hold 2 additional times, I was told that we were shipped the wrong drawers, as well as, the wrong drawer rails. I told them I was fine with the drawers as they are already installed, but just wanted replacement lids. Since the drawers I received are smaller, I asked about a credit to the cost of the closet. I also informed them that I would drive up to Oak Brook from our home in Tinley Park to exchange the lids. She told me that the lids could be returned there, but they would ship me express the right lids. However, she would have to look into the credit portion. She left a message on my phone that totally contradicted what she had told me earlier, and now I was to go to the Oak Brook Store to exchange the drawers, rails and lids. WHAT? All I want are the right lids for the 10 drawers and the credit for the wrong items being shipped and already installed. So once again I am sitting on hold 34 minutes trying to find out exactly what is going on with what should be a very easy fix! OK....they just answered the phone, and I am on hold once again because no one can tell me the credit I should be receiving! I am not going to the store not knowing what is expected, and them telling me they know nothing about it! Why is this ok? So it is 11:52 a.m. and I initiated this call at 11:04 a.m. - still on hold! It is now 11:55 a.m. and now I am told that I was sent the correct drawers and rails the only thing incorrect are the lids. Isn't that now contradicting what I was told this morning??? I am done, whatever. I'm just going to go get the correct lids and be done with it, and eat the additional costs I was charged for being shipped the wrong items. IF ANYONE ASKS ME IF IT IS A GOOD IDEA TO USE THE CONTAINER STORE FOR ANYTHING THAT REQUIRES ANY TYPE OF DESIGN OR INSTALLATION --- DON'T DO IT! OR MAKE SURE YOU HAVE ALL THE CORRECT THINGS IN YOUR HOT LITTLE HANDS, BECAUSE YOU WILL BE ON HOLD HELL WITH THE CONTAINER STORE CUSTOMER SERVICE DEPARTMENT, LIED TO, AND THEN CHARGED MORE THAN YOU SHOULD HAVE BEEN FOR THE ITEMS YOU ARE SHIPPED INCORRECTLY.
