I booked an initial deep clean for the Friday before a big trip to treat myself to a clean home when I returned. I had requested 10:30a-12:30p arrival, but two days before the service, I got a reminder email stating that the cleaner was arriving "between 8:00am - 8:30am." This surprised me, but I decided to let that happen since I could accommodate the early arrival. I had never had a professional cleaner before. The woman was very kind and did a lovely job cleaning the shower. About an hour after arrival, I got a call from Clean Freaks saying that the cleaner would have to leave and accosted me for not reading instructions. I was incredibly embarrassed, being scolded over the phone in front of the cleaner, and started looking for this "prep" I should have been talking about. I eventually found this one line in one email saying, "SERVICE PREP: We kindly ask that you prepare for your visit by straightening up as much as possible, and putting things in there proper places. This includes but is not limited to articles of clothing, toys, garbage etc." I have a tiny apartment, so there isn't much storage for items, so things in their "proper place" would mean they could be on the counter in the bathroom, etc. I would have done so if there were instructions that I should clear off surfaces as much as possible. This is my first time getting any professional cleaning, and I scoured the website, but there was nothing further about how to prep. She insisted that the cleaner had to get to other homes in the day. While that's understandable, the cleaner had been there less than an hour and was initially scheduled for at least 2-3 hours. I can chalk up some of this to my inexperience (I would argue their instructions should be clearer for first-timers), but the random arrival time change is inexcusable. I don't recommend Clean Freaks because they're not transparent. They don't disclose the fine print until they have your card on file, which includes a $75 cancellation charge if their cleaners can't find parking. It's challenging to guarantee parking when I'm not at the unit. Additionally, my building requires the names of cleaners, but Clean Freaks doesn't provide the full names of their cleaners even when asked repeatedly. I suspect they would have charged me a cancellation fee if their people couldn't get in. Positively, they were prompt in responding to my questions and canceled my appointment when I raised my concerns. They also removed my credit card from file. read more

When I called asking for a deep clean the next day in preparation for my husband's upcoming medical procedure, Michelle in Customer Service went out of her way to accommodate the request. Jessica was our cleaning tech and she was kind, down to earth and thorough. I love how my home looks and smells. I could tell the products that she was using were gentle and eco-friendly and I was thrilled that she was using microfiber cloths just like the website advertised. Jessica swept, vacuumed and mopped our floors (in addition to everything else she did) and they are shining. The inside of my microwave is spotless. I couldn't be happier and I'm breathing a sigh of relief that one thing is off my to do list. They were responsive to me and called back after I found multiple areas needing more cleaning but time is money and I needed it clean and I excepted it to be clean at the agreed upon time. We had these guys in for cleaning a single time and for us the cost wasn't worth the result. We would have gotten our place cleaner in the same amount of time--and the cost was just too high to justify not spending the time ourselves. Particularly paying a premium for a new job I'd thought the quality would be best after the first visit. Admin and on site team were pleasant but as above results just weren't worth it. I booked this service after reviewing all the reviews and perhaps it was just an off day for the cleaners. We had a new home that needed a cleaning, it was 2500 square ft. The second tech came late by 1.5 due to a flat-tire. While they didn't charge for the time..they should've send a second tech. Overall, though the cleaner came with a bad attitude and said oh wow there is lots of dust. They didnt have a bucket and came without the necessary scrubbers. You must clarify everything with them prior to coming. For the amount they are charging ~$500 for a 2,500 sq ft. it needs to be perfect. They are a premium service and I shouldn't have to check on them. read more

Review updated from two to four stars, since the company did honor the original quoted price after I left my original review. This rate nonetheless increased few weeks later, as they were apparently raising their prices across the board. This is an expensive service and I am still not sure it is worth it. The service is improving with reminders, but it seems every time there's something pretty big that's missed (e.g., on the most recent visit -- a 8" x 4" dried dirty water spot that I saw when decluttering before the service seemed perfectly intact afterward, implying the floor there was untouched, and there's dust slowly accumulating in a corner near the plants, etc.). Rooms have also smelled like cleaning chemicals for more than a day after the service, which makes me nervous. I don't know what they're using. read more
