I am changing my rating based on a communication error when scheduling a cleaning. Please keep in mind preferred times are only for frequent, reoccurring customers. I have used this service before, and I was really impressed by the price point and the cleaning. I previously used them for a routine cleaning and a move out cleaning of my rental property, and they did great. I asked for a cleaning in the morning since I am home with a newborn and toddler and said I could be flexible if not. The owner communicated "done" and I assumed she would give me a morning cleaning time. Less than 24 hours before, she gave me a time in the afternoon, not the morning. I would have appreciated a note stating sorry that we weren't able to accommodate your request, does this time work? I realized that it would be too much to switch around schedules as I had already planned my day for a morning cleaning. The owner stated that morning cleanings were ONLY for reoccurring customers and that she couldn't get me in for another two weeks in the morning. I understand the reasoning, but it made me feel not important as a customer. She should have told me this information when I booked, not when I complained after getting the appointment time. No other time options were given and it forced me to cancel. It was a take it or leave it situation. It really is too bad that I had this experience because I think the ladies do great work! I just don't need super frequent cleanings and really need a service that will give me a more specific time upon booking. I hope that this was just a one time occurrence with their customer service. read more

My initial communication with Irina went very well and she was extremely professional and clearly laid out her pricing structure. I completely agreed with the hourly rate, and understood that if her estimate wasn't accurate that the hourly rate would apply to the actual time necessary to complete the job. She originally quoted 5 hours. I have used cleaning services for years and have never experienced such a gross miscalculation of time requirements. I asked for Saturday service which she normally doesn't offer and while she quoted two cleaners she offered to send one cleaner for the Saturday schedule. The cleaner arrived at 8:15 am. I gave her a complete tour of my very well-kept 2 BR 2 BA home and asked her how long she would need. She stated that it would take five hours and for me to return at 1 pm. I returned at 1 pm to find the home only half clean. The entire kitchen, living/dining and entry areas were still untouched. I reached out to Irina to discuss what options I had as I was not prepared to pay for and wait around another three hours. The cleaner called Irina and put her on speakerphone. I was extremely disappointed with Irina's response that I could pay for three additional hours or the cleaner could leave. While I completely understand Irina's pricing structure, there are a few issues that impact my dissatisfaction: 1. Irina is the professional in this arena and knew full well that sending one cleaner rather than two would drive the number of hours required up. I can understand it taking an extra 30 minutes to an hour, but not three hours. I was faced with a decision to pay for three additional hours plus my time waiting around or have a half-cleaned home. 2. I specifically gave the cleaner a complete tour of the home and she stated it would take her five hours and to come back at 1 pm. 3. Sending one cleaner knowing it would take well in excess of the quoted time is both unprofessional and unethical. I chose Maids to Help based on their all five star ratings on Yelp. My overall sentiment would be to rate them 1 or 2 stars, however the cleaning that was completed was done very well. The fact that I pod $190 for a half-cleaned home is extremely disappointing. I strive to write fair, balanced reviews and hope that others find this information helpful and that Irina can learn from this situation where she left a new customer completely dissatisfied. read more

Maids to Help is LITERALLY amazing. Irina is incredibly responsive, and I am blown away by how incredibly detail-oriented, fast, and professional the cleaning ladies are. I have never used a cleaning service before and wasn't sure what to expect. I generally deep clean my apartment by myself every few months and am pretty fastidious, so I was hesitant to use a service (thinking it wouldn't be as good me as trying to do it myself). I was so, so wrong. My apartment is actually spotless and immaculate, and they cleaned in spaces I wasn't even expecting. Like, they removed my dozens of magnets from the front of my refrigerator to clean it, and then put them all back up and arranged them so beautifully. I had also let them know in advance that they didn't need to worry about my master bedroom--I had piles of clothing everywhere and was so ashamed of it--and they cleaned it anyway, going so far as to even nicely fold all of my piled up clothing and arrange my shoes. It is literally so clean that I want to cry. And, all of this attention and care and cleanliness for an extremely reasonable price (I got different quotes from a few other places and this was by far the best). 100% would recommend Maids to Help if you're in Chicago and want to enjoy a clean home. I am a very tidy person, and keep my home clean and clutter free on a daily basis. However, was looking for some help on the non-daily tasks that aren't my favorite to spend my time on (dusting, scrubbing the tub/sink, etc.). When the time came to schedule my appointment, I actually debated myself on whether I really needed e service, since my place was already "clean", but decided I'd give it a go anyways. Oh my God, you guys, it was like walking into a brand new apartment where no one had ever lived before! I think my tub was actually CLEANER than it was when I moved into what WAS a brand new apartment, somehow. The tub and toilet were spotless and shiny, the chrome and stainless faucets, sinks, appliances and counter were polished, the shelves and tables were all dust free. It had the whole "luxury hotel room" vibe which is basically my aesthetic. The first time they came out, one of the girls had called in sick, so it was just one girl by herself. I didn't think it would take long considering my home was already pretty clean. Y'all that girl cleaned her a$$ off for 4 hours!! I checked in on her a couple times to see how it was going and to grab a phone charger I had forgotten, and she was on her hands and knees scouring the front of the oven where the glass meets the door. Guys I didn't even know that was something that needed to be cleaned. And yet there was gunk getting scrapped out of that crevice, and afterwards the entire appliance looked brand new. She did such a fabulous job. I just had them back again yesterday and the two girl team took just an hour this time to have my place once again all shiny and new. I plan on continuing on with the service. It is totally worth it to me for all those "deep cleaning" tasks that no one wants to spend their weekends doing. read more
