The ugly and not tasty sandwich course
    Nancy N.

Definitely not a great place for Afternoon tea. Apart from the nice staff, everything was subpar compared to the Adolphus and Ritz. We made reservations and were seated in the lobby area instead of the conservatory, which is really tacky. We had tea while loud people were conducting business and bustling around. The ambiance was so poor and not serene like the Adolphus French Room. The tea itself was by Damman, which is fine. I wish there were more varieties and we could switch out the pot more. The flatware and china were plain white and not good quality. No Wedgwood here unfortunately. The food was actually really terrible. The sandwich bread was stale. They actually took a scoop of incredibly salty lobster salad and put it inside a sweet dinner roll. Afternoon tea is about presentation and this lacked on every course. And all courses were served at the same time, which is unusual. They ran out of cucumber (seriously cucumber?) so they served one of our sandwiches with raw yellow squash. It was so gross. The desserts course consisted of a macaron, a sweet chocolate pastry and some pudding. None of them were outstanding or pretty to look at. Considering that we paid $91/person, I do not recommend coming here for tea. But now we know better.

Beautiful garden views and attentive service are what you'll find here. The food is better than average but it is not great considering the high price tag. Still, it's worth a visit when downtown at the Crescent.

Service was slow, food was underwhelming. We waited 10 to 15 minutes to get anything from coffee to food. Ask for Tabasco. Never showed up

Our event coordinator had already been in contact with each hotel's sales team regarding room blocks, but my fiancé and I wanted to personally see the properties before recommending them to 30-40 hotel room blocks. Although we arrived after sales office hours, Liz at the front desk was exceptionally kind. She walked us through the restaurants commonly used for private events, explained the renovation timeline, and invited us to take our time exploring before returning to the front desk to view a standard guest room. Unfortunately, our experience changed when another employee, who later identified himself as Clayton, a manager, stepped in. It appeared he had been listening to our conversation but had not introduced himself. He abruptly informed us that we would not be able to view a room. We explained that our event coordinator was already working with the sales manager regarding room blocks and pricing, and that we were simply trying to ensure we felt confident recommending the hotel to our family and friends. Despite understanding the situation, he remained unwilling to accommodate the request. His only suggestion was that we purchase a room if we wanted to see one. For us, this interaction spoke volumes. Hospitality isn't just about beautiful rooms--it's about making potential guests feel welcomed and valued. If this was the experience we received as prospective clients considering multiple wedding events and dozens of room nights, it gave us pause about what our guests might experience. As a result, we will likely to move our room block, welcome dinner, Saturday event, and Sunday brunch where we're met with warmth, flexibility, and genuine hospitality from the moment we arrive. The Joule is undeniably a beautiful property, but customer service plays a major role in our decision-making. Unfortunately, this experience left us feeling that our business was neither appreciated nor wanted.

I'm going to full up admit that I did a terrible job getting pictures so you're just going to have to trust me. I got to see and visit with my daughter and granddaughter so was over the moon! We ordered the Grilled Lamb Chop Lollipops and the Brisket Risotto Balls for an appetizer. There are only 3 lollipops but they were INCREDIBLE! The presentation was beautiful! The brisket risotto balls were good. Think "boudain" balls. Reinspired and tasty. I ordered the Duck & Rope Pasta, my other half ordered the Beef Arrarbbiata and my daughter and granddaughter shared the Steak Frites. All of it was delicious! The duck confit in the Duck & Rope Pasta was perfect! Don't be scared on this one. It is worth it! For dessert, we ordered the Ferrero Rocher and HOLEY MOLEY! It was huge and delicious. This dessert is rich with the perfect sweetness that won't bite you in the jaw. It is shareable! Overall, I am so happy we tried Bucket & Rope! The service was amazing and I just can't say enough about the quality of the food and overall experience! Thank you Bucket & Rope for a memorable meal!
