The bright spot was the bottle of Faust we ordered; regular price here is $110 and on Wednesdays it's almost the same price as retail. We decided to return the following week for dinner to give Grand Public another chance and I'm glad we did, as our experience during that second visit couldn't have been better. We arrived, had a seat at the bar and were given menus right away. We started with the Mediterranean dips and ordered a bottle of Caymus to share. When the dips and laffa bread were brought to us, the staff gave a nice explanation of everything when placing them on the bar. The dips were great, but we had to order extra laffa as the 2 pieces delivered with the hummus, babaganoush and muhammara weren't nearly enough vs. the amount of dip. For our main courses my husband had the steak frites and I the steak and sushi. Though both our meals included a side, we also ordered broccolini. Our steaks were served to us by a manager and our meals were really excellent. Though we didn't get dessert, by the time we'd finished eating it was after 10 so we both ordered a cocktail from their late night happy hour menu, I the Coco Loco and my Husband the Ferrero Rocher espresso martini. Overall I'm a fan of Grand Public, I just wish it was on the ground floor here at CocoWalk so more people would find it. While you can look to see what side dishes the various entrees are served with standard and order those as extra sides, they don't have anything outside of that - mashed potatoes, for example. 2) They close their kitchen on some nights at 10:15. That means if someone comes for the late night happy hour at 10, they have 15 minutes to order food or they're out of luck. In all, though, I'm a fan and the 1/2 priced wines on Wednesdays are a pretty incredible value as they bring the price of many really good bottles down to the price of retail. Additional amenities include an ATM, a combination photo booth/jukebox, and even a cell phone charging station, which means Eddie somehow supports bad decisions and the evidence they leave behind. This isn't Eddie's Bistro or Eddie's Café, it's just his Place, so don't show up expecting anyone to cook for you. Aside from chips, the bar skips food altogether. Still, Eddie's plays to its strengths: it encourages you to bring your own food or order in, as long as you keep the bartenders busy. "Cocktails" arrive in ribbed plastic cups, but shots and beer arrive in proper glassware, which is this bar's version of caviar service. A free pool table anchors the room, while one corner hosts beer pong and another area for old-timers to throw darts. Drinks run from $6 to $12, and Happy Hour sweetens the deal with 2-for-1 wells until 8 p.m. That special feels a little sad Monday through Wednesday, when the bar opens at 7 PM.
