This week, I stopped in for a Yelp event and was blown away at the beautiful decor, drinks, food, and friendly staff. Star Wars + Coffee = a match made in heaven, or should I say space? My boyfriend is a Star Wars fan as well, so I had to go back a few days later to show him this amazing place when we were nearby at the Phoenix Zoo. That experience was also great, so I'll likely need to do an outing to take my Star Wars loving bestie out as she was mesmerized just by the pictures I shared with her. What We Ordered: - High Ground (Galactic Menu available until 5/31/2026) - espresso, milk, vanilla, toasted marshmallow, dark chocolate cold foam: so delicious that I returned days after a Yelp event to have this iced again! - Yoda Deviled Eggs (available until 5/31/2026): another repeat for me this week as I enjoyed it so much earlier this week! - Prime Rib Sliders: something new to try and we split. I really love spicy red pepper aioli as it added a nice heat to the slider, and some moisture as the prime rib was a bit tough. Not sure we'd order again due to that toughness, but the aioli was so delicious I'd see if it was on any other dish to order that to try next time. Yes, next time as I'm certain I'll return! Be sure to stop by before May 31st, 2026 to see the Star Wars theming! They even have a POD RACER! How cool. May the force be with you & SYOY!

This place has excellent coffee, very unique selection of flavors and milks. Super friendly and fast service, interior is beyond awesome from an architectural standpoint. Also the Starbucks theme is sweet! Definite recommendation to all!

If you're moving too fast, you may just drive past this place. It looks inconspicuous from the outside, but when you get inside, it's beautiful. They have abundance of food and drink choices. Staff embodies the true definition of "service with a smile." I got a matcha lemonade. That was delicious and I will definitely try this place again.

The Coffee Builders feels like one of downtown Phoenix's best hidden finds -- a tucked-away oasis on South 7th Street that shares its space and creative spirit with the adjacent wood and cement design/build studios. You can feel that maker energy immediately. We were impressed from the moment we parked. The coffee cup-shaped bike racks instantly caught my eye, especially as someone who bikes around downtown, and the parking lot features an incredible oversized art piece that looks like a futuristic space sled being pulled by two yellow rockets. Before you even walk in, the place already feels imaginative and special. Inside, the experience only gets better. Much of the interior and the spacious covered patio, with its many tables, were crafted by the owner, and it shows. From the ordering experience to the cozy, organic atmosphere, everything feels thoughtful and top-notch. The warm wood tones, intricate ceiling details, and inviting communal feel make it the kind of place that naturally encourages conversation. We ended up chatting with several other guests, along with a number of staff members, all of whom were genuinely welcoming and happy to share stories about the space, its history, the owner, and the neighborhood. The current rotating theme was Star Trek, which somehow even included Yoda-shaped deviled eggs -- quirky, memorable, and very much in the spirit of the place. We tried the lavash, pastries, a cappuccino, and a latte, and both the presentation and taste were excellent. Coffee Builders isn't just a coffee stop -- it feels like a community hub, an art space, and a warm neighborhood gathering place all at once. We were so impressed that we're already planning return visits, this time with friends and visitors in tow.

This hits the trifecta! The ambience is just stunning. It feels like you walked into an East Coast College library meets West Coast cocktail lounge but instead you're able to visit bright and early and get your caffeine fix! Customer service is outstanding. They are patient barista's speaking in Starbucks terms for those new to visiting small chain coffee shops, but really are sure to tell you what they think might be best in a gentle way.! love the guidance! Beautiful silverware and bar wear utilized to present even more exquisite drinks! We will be back

This morning I had the pleasure of starting my Monday with a vanilla bourbon latte from Coffee Builders, and it was such a fun surprise. Pulling into the parking lot, I'll admit I was a little skeptical with the piles of wood from the neighboring lumber business, but the second you walk inside, it feels like stepping into a cozy speakeasy. Low lighting, velvet chairs, and such a charming atmosphere:) The only thing that didn't quite match the moody vibe, in the best way, was Tina, my barista. She was so friendly and energetic, and encouraged me to switch it up from my usual vanilla latte. I'm glad I listened! The drink was delicious, but the presentation really stole the show. The little flower on top was such a sweet touch. It wasn't overly sugary, definitely more of a true coffee drink with just the right hint of sweetness, which I loved. I'd absolutely come back and stay awhile. It feels like the perfect spot to sit quietly, sip something warm, and get lost in an audiobook for a bit.

You should go once for the ambiance and experience, but the food and drinks aren't that great. Based on what we had, the focus seems to be more on presentation than taste. First off, the space is amazing! Its upscale cocktail lounge meets coffee bar: blue leather banquettes, velour chairs, rich wood paneling and accent lights. I felt like I should be drinking a martini, not a cortado. The food, on the hand, is meh. The Yoda-themed deviled eggs were cute, but they are in the bottom half of deviled eggs I've eaten (and I'm a huge fan). Putting microgreens on a ham and cheese panini doesn't make it taste better, nor does putting a flower on top of a cortado or putting so-so orange juice in a nice glass. Service was great. Still, the food and drink could be more on point.

This place never ceases to impress me. I feel immediately like I've walked into a fairytale coffee shop. The beautiful woodwork and "speak easy" vibe with food and beverages that are as artsy as they are tasty. The staff is always helpful with suggestions and have never failed to give me good advice. Recently I tried their bourbon cold brew and I think it might be my new addiction. If ever in Phoenix no matter where you are staying it's worth the drive.

Met up with a friend here on May 4th. I got the dark side drink (I think that's what it's called lol- dark cacao, strawberry, and black pepper). It was so good! I make a lot of coffee at home but I usually shy away from chocolate. The black pepper and strawberry intrigued me so I got it and was not disappointed! The dark cacao and strawberry flavors blended perfectly and the pepper was very subtle but there! My friend got the toasted marshmallow drink (can't remember the name) but she was in heaven with it! She also got the bacon deviled eggs which are always a hit.

The greeting was above and beyond. The staff was incredibly friendly and made it feel like they already knew you, and they were clearly hustling. My husband ordered while we grabbed a seat outside. After noticing two tables who ordered after us get their food first, he went up to check on his waffle. The gentleman immediately came out, asked what we ordered, and rushed back to make it. He explained they were training and had missed the order, and said it would be comped. That said, our bill was still $27, which didn't quite add up for a latte and a $6 donut stack. Aside from that hiccup, the food and latte was okay. The donuts and waffles use the same batter and have a very similar texture, so I'd recommend ordering different items for more variety. Our kids did love the experience of making them though, which was a highlight. The outdoor patio was really nice and relaxing, kind of a hidden gem. We were a little unsure when we first pulled up, but the inside was actually very nice and felt more upscale than expected.

This is our 1st stop after we arrive at Phoenix airport. It's nearby to airport, and easy to find, plenty parking. Order at the counter, quite interesting menu, has everything. We ordered their rice bowls, one Mexican one Teriyaki, both are great. I just wish the bowl is bigger so make it easy to stir. Other than that, totally great! Quick and efficient service.

I had the Sumatra w lavender and honey. It wasn't a strong dark coffee flavor like I hoped. It was tasty and the blend was perfect w the added flavors. Next time I may try to the drip alone so I can get a taste of it. It's a very spacious place inside. Many seatings and booths around. Great spacious outdoor, dog friendly patio. You could certainly fit a large gaggle of friends or coworkers here. Baristas friendly and efficient. Hope to come back for one of their themes.

This place is sick! You'll know it when you walk in and wonder what is so different about the woodwork. The owner and his team designed all the woodwork in this place to create a uniquely crafted ambiance. The employees are uniquely sweet and efficient, very devoid of pretension you often run into at coffee shops. Haven took great care of me at the register. The chicken salad sandwich was worth the buy! The Star Wars themed beverage I got was unique to be sure. This is definitely a place you take a date to impress them... or 3 small kids so they have outdoor seating to crawl around on.

This is the best coffee shop in phoenix. I have been to many corporate ones, they do not compare. Thomas, the owner, runs a great business. The food was really good coffee was good but not mind-blowing. I would say they charge so much due to the presentation of their menu items which is fair. The place is way smaller than advertised causing a friend and I to have to stand in the middle of this tiny place and wait awkwardly for a table to clear. The service was not the best either, yes we got our food and drinks in good timing but the majority of employees did not seem happy to be there and were very short with us. I'd give this place a try if you're in the area but definitely not go out of my way to try it out. read more

Absolutely amazing coffee shop. First off, they're so friendly I ended up goin there two days in a row on my trip. The food is fantastic! First day I had Morning Glory (highly, highly recommend)! The port sautéed shallots on this were mind blowing! Next day I had Avocado toast - that was really good too! Now onto coffee - had a latte with their house made honey/lavender syrup - so delightful in the hobnail mug! Their interior is cute, love the vibe. I will say the lit up menu took me off guard. For some reason, it gave off a cheaper vibe but don't let that affect you - because I was surely wrong. Can't wait to go back! read more

Absolutely deserves 10 stars out of 5! This place is insane and easily my favorite coffee shop in Phoenix! Haven was our amazing cashier and was very helpful! Teak recommended a Dr Pepper cold brew concoction that sounded weird at first... but was absolutely mind blowing! So delicious! And Pepper came out to deliver one of our drinks with wood shavings and a blow torch which looked and smelled incredible! That ambiance was stunning! So bougie! Beautiful wood designs! Definitely should ask where they got the wood and ideas! I highly recommend trying the Dr Pepper cold brew drink and the strawberry Nutella pastry! read more

Downtown Phoenix's newest breakfast/lunch cafe serving specialty coffee and fine foods. These guys knocked it out of the park. When you first walk in the atmosphere and ambience is ascetically pleasing, you're greeted by a friendly and happy staff. Upon walking in Thomas the owner greeted us and started up a conversation, we placed our order and the food came out shortly after. Everything was appetizing and flavorful. Loved the strawberry fields drink! Initially was nervous because I'm not a huge white chocolate fan, but the drink was balanced and not too sweet. Impressed by their variety of food offerings, had the morning glory which was a nice compliment to my coffee. We did a to go order on a busy Saturday morning, but they were still able to accommodate our order within 30ish minutes which was nice. read more

This is a cute little place. Inside is dark and moody with a small section for seating and outside is large with tons of seating. The service was nice and personable with the servers bringing drinks to you in real cups. I love that they still use real cups for dine in. The latte was great and you can actually taste the espresso. The gluten free waffles were good. I do wish there were some more vegan options without having to modify what is offered so I'd give it 4.5 stars because of that. read more

Came here because my sister and I were traveling through Phoenix and we are coffee nerds. This place is beautiful on the inside and out! We adored the tomato garden growing outside. The cafe acts as walk-in example of what the other side of their company does- construction and building. EVERYTHING was thought of for this little coffee shop- even the ceiling design was taken into consideration for acoustics and talking inside- there is no echo. Isn't that something? The pastries in the case looked divine. I was very impressed with the beautiful white la marzocco espresso machine- a telltale sign that a coffee shop knows what's up! How incredible. My only critique is this- this coffee shop uses torani styrups for their drinks. If i may make a respectful suggestion- please switch to monin syrups! They are much better quality. I think the drink experience would be much more elevated- and match the vibe of the store, for this switch! I cannot wait to come back here again. read more

My first two visits were in September. Ethan and Cassidy were both so nice and welcoming. The champagne mustard chicken lavash was tasty. The space is visually stunning and makes you want to stay for a while and hang out. So good! I'm currently doing the wanderlust coffee tour through Xanadu and this has been my favorite spot so far! I went around 8am on a Thursday and there was only 1 other person and they brought my coffee out very quickly! Back in February... I was lured in on IG with a pic of the lovely "Slope," a beautiful iced latte layered with espresso, white chocolate, blueberry, and butterfly pea flower. In all honesty, I was unfamiliar with this part of 7th St and upon getting off the freeway in such an industrial-looking area, I was giving a hard side-eye, wondering if I'd picked a hole-in-the-wall place with cute drinks and a nasty couch. Nope. This unassuming gem-of-a-coffee shop exceeded my expectations with all of its artsy nuances. From the menu and presentation of the food/drinks to the furniture and even the pop-up plug outlets, it's clear this was a labor of love down to every detail. Right away, I noted the exceptional customer service and WARM welcome from the staff who PATIENTLY walked me through some of the menu items and made suggestions to accommodate what I wanted. I'm a sucker for finding eclectic drinks and out-of-the-ordinary menus, so this place did not disappoint. Had me wanting to spend all my coins trying everything. Though pastries looked divine, I indulged in the yummy Champagne Mustard Chicken Lavash (basically a flatbread), and my Slope latte was so pretty, it was "pinky-up" worthy. This quaint space has dim lighting with muted, big-band, jazz classics like Ella Fitzgerald, Coltrane, and Sinatra playing. Me likey the mellow speakeasy-ish vibe, and it had me boppin' in my seat! Let's talk about the amazing artistry of the wood-cut ceiling and the wood decor throughout with actual comfortable seating at either tables or booths. There is a small outdoor area I'll try next time on a better-weather day. The décor of this establishment is very suave and stylish. There's a small indoor space but twice as much seating outdoors. I came here on an early Saturday afternoon and all the indoor seats were taken. I really love how the food is both aesthetically pleasing and full of flavor. You really can't go wrong with any of their specialty drinks as they are all made with lots of love. I tried out a prime, pimento, and blue panini which includes prime rib, pimentos, blue cheese, and Havarti on sourdough bread. Although it looks nice that the greens and tomatoes are on top of the bread; it made too much of a mess that I just ended up putting them inside the sandwich for easier eating. What's impressive was that I briefly interacted with 4 different workers and all 4 were great at customer service which tells me that the owners of this place carefully picks out who works here. Decided to stop by here on a Wednesday, such a cute coffee shop! There is seating both inside and outside but the inside was packed (and kind of dark), wouldn't mind doing work here. First time customer from Mesa,Az. So so worth the drive and the service was spectacular. Had the pistachio white chocolate coffee, hot. Amazing. Beautiful presentation and the caviar boiled egg is to die for. I will be back to try another coffee drink again. The selections are plentiful and both my wife and I are truly impressed. In Arizona for the week and this was the first place we stopped! amazing coffee, tea, food, service, and atmosphere. Loved it so much we had to stop one last time on the way to our flight home! Their attention to detail is awesome. The chai latte was the best chai I've ever had. Super helpful and friendly service, the guy who helped us both times had a beard and glasses but we never caught is name! He took the time to walk us through the menu and make suggestions. I consider myself a bit of a budding coffee connoisseur and my orange blossom latte checked all the boxes for me. We are a specialty coffee shop and café with a wonderful staff and unique offerings for coffee, teas, and light dining.

History

Established in 2023.

We opened the doors at The Coffee Builders in August of '23. The space was previously being used for storage. It was a built in the 1960's and we had previously used it as a temporary office for Porter Barn Wood before we built the large showroom. Since we build restaurant millwork packages frequently and with my love for food and coffee, it seemed like a wonderful way to bring together several passions into one place. Every square inch of the building was created by us in an effort to show some of the creativity our build team has, but also to provide a wonderful space to gather and enjoy a nice meal and a cup of coffee. There is a lot more to it than meets the eye, so you'll have to see all the fun extra little details for yourself. It's pretty fun!

Lola Coffee began with humble beginnings going back to 1992 with a cart, then Lux Coffee, and eventually Lola Coffee downtown. Now, there is even a second Lola Coffee location in Arcadia near 40th Street and Indian School. Today, they serve coffee, pastries, and breakfast. The Downtown Phoenix location hours are weekdays from 6:30 AM to 7 PM and weekends from 7 AM to 7 PM. I drive past this coffee shop several times a week on my way to work and today I finally stopped in. I like the experience of trying out new coffee shops. As soon as I walked in, I immediately wished I had more time to sit an enjoy the ambiance. Cozy, quiet and the smell of coffee beans being freshly pressed! The Christmas trees and floating candles truly add a magical element. I honestly did not realize it was Harry Potter themed and not being an avid HP fan, I felt like the décor was in keeping with the nostalgia without being kitschy. The display counter of pastries all looked delectable and I regret not having ordered the caviar deviled eggs. Yes! CAVIAR on deviled eggs. I don't think there has ever been a more elegant pairing. At the recommendation of the barista, I wish I'd asked his name, I ordered a hot honey latte and it was delicious! The art of specially crafted latte is the reminder I needed today to slow down and find gratitude. I noticed there were some board games and puzzles, so I believe I will be back soon, with friends and the intention of staying awhile longer. Perhaps they will have stickers the next time I stop in. Not only do the drinks look beautiful, but they taste incredible too, with great quality ingredients and unique combinations. The food is super fresh and delicious, adding to the overall experience. The staff is absolutely wonderful, very welcoming and friendly. The owner is a humble and great guy with a fantastic vision for the place. One of the best parts about Coffee Builders is the parking. It's a real struggle to find spots in the Phoenix area, especially near downtown, so having actual parking spaces is a huge plus. Even the customers are friendly and welcoming. It's common to see people chatting with each other, even if they just met. You can tell this place attracts a great crowd. If I lived closer, I'd be here every day.
