Boiled Shrimp by LB
Kristie W.

Ruby was the first smiling face when we came in!! Newbies here and she was so kind & helped with our yummy selections. I had the mild boiled shrimp & it's was spicy for me so I will be asking for none of the spices on it. The hubby had the fish & shrimp ~ crunchy & so fresh tasting. Banana pudding was to die for! Ivan (manager) & Amber (GM) were both so pleasant & friendly. We will definitely be back!!

My son and I went out for milk and ended up having lunch to catch up on things, and he recommended The Catch. He's been craving and eyeballing the Crawfish Special. I've not really ever experienced a Crawfish cuisine, and I didn't start today. However, I ordered the Shrimp & Catfish (med) Fried Combo and hot damn was it ever delicious and filling! Plenty of food to share or take home for later. 6 pieces of tender white catfish, fried to perfection. Some places the batter is so oily that it's soggy. However, the crust on these were perfect and crispy. The meal came with fries and hush puppies. We both enjoyed a cold beer. My boy, he didn't hesitate and ordered up 2 lbs. of the crawfish... and he ate every single finger licking, mouth smacking, clothes staining one. He was right- this place didn't disappoint at all! I'm hoping to come back and try some other menu options. My Cajun dining experience is limited, but if they are anything less than The Catch in Louisiana, that'll be greatly disappointing but phenomenal for this joint!! We will be back for sure! As always, enjoy & and Happy Catching!

Catfish, fried shrimp, fries, hush puppies, beans and rice. Cocktail sauce, tartar sauce.

We love this place. We go here pretty often and the food, service and ambiance are always great. The food is so fresh and hot. The manager is very attentive and always checks on us. We love everything we have tried here. We have ordered white fish, catfish, fried shrimp, shrimp tacos, sweet potato fries, beans and rice and hush puppies, beignets and key lime pie. They make tartar sauce, remoulade and cocktail sauce in house that are all really good. We will keep going here for the food and service.

Super crunchy and way overcooked!

Weak! If you like margarine and corn syrup on your pancakes and waffles than this place is for you! My poor waitress didn't know the difference between maple flavored corn syrup and maple syrup! Hash browns were almost unedible!

You don't realize how lucky you are to be close to Louisiana until you're in West Texas for 4…read moreyears. You come back to a place like Happy's, and it tastes like a Michelin Star establishment compared to the seafood up in Lubbock. Where is that fish from? The ponds? Ain't no way. Happy's is a staple of Tyler. Owned by the same team as Mercados and Posados, Happy's is their only seafood establishment, and it is a fine piece of art. Inside, there's plenty of lamps and fish hanging on the walls and decor that feels strongly inspired by Mardi Gras. The truest display of their beauty is a chandelier made of Corona bottles. I was meeting my aunt and uncle for lunch with my girlfriend, and my uncle knows this place up and down. You could tell it's one of his favorite spots in Tyler by how he lit up when I suggested it as the place we go to lunch together while I was visiting. We used to go quite a bit when I was still living in Tyler, and he still knows the name of the waitresses and they love him back. I went for the Catfish Po Boy because man did it sound fire. I got it with a side of fries and fried okra. The okra was great and the fries were super crispy. The Po Boy itself was the star of the show. I unwrapped it and destroyed the entire thing. The catfish side was super crispy and delicious and had a fantastic flavor. It tasted fresh and I knew it was really special. My girlfriend got the gumbo and thought it was incredible as well along with eating half of my fried okra. Happy's might have some of the best seafood in Tyler. It's a great establishment, and I was proud to be able to show it to my visiting girlfriend as the pride and joy of some of the food Tyler has to offer. RIYL: Something fishy

We started with the onion rings for an appetizer, in fact we received our appetizer before we received our drinks.. that is how slow Kristen was. The right amount of crunch with the perfect amount of Cajun seasoning! So good! I had the catfish po boy with fried okra and French fries. The bread was a good, the catfish was tasty, very thin though. The fried okra and French fries were good too. My husband had the catfish plate, also had fried okra and French fries as his side. His catfish filets were thicker than my po boy. Food was amazing with large portions. Service needs work.

Our experience at Prime 102 was comparable to the best steakhouses in New Orleans. The food was great and the service was truly exceptional. We were a party of 7, so we had the opportunity to explore a number of the menu items. The jumbo lump crab cakes, the tuna tartare, the loaded potato casserole, and the lobster Mac and cheese were excellent. One might not think Brussels sprouts would be special, but these were unlike any I've ever had. They were definitely a surprising highlight of the meal and a must have for future dinners. The rib eye and filets were all delicious, perfectly cooked to the requested temperature. The servings of the chocolate cake and the butter cake are large enough to share. Both were delicious. But if I had to pick just one, I'd give the nod to the butter cake as it is a unique taste experience. In addition to the great food, our waiter, Matt R, was outstanding. He was attentive to our needs and pacing of the meal. His advice and descriptions of dishes, when asked, were spot on and very helpful. His attentiveness contributed to an overall exceptional experience. Although it has no effect on the food and the service, the original art deco decor makes for an interesting, special setting. I should also add that the prices were reasonable for the quality of the food and service. I can't say that Prime 102 is the best restaurant in Tyler, but only because we haven't been to any other high end restaurant there. But it's hard to imagine any better. If it were in New Orleans, it would be in our regular dining rotation. We're planning to visit family in Tyler annually. And dinner at Prime 102 will be a mandatory event.

My friend and my girlfriend both ordered their espresso martini that my friend claimed was the best espresso martini in town, while I got the bartender's recommendation of the Animal Style, a pineapple and jalapeño infused tequila with strawberries, cardamom bitters, and a lemon peel garnish. Normally, I hate any drink that is spicy. I cannot stand a Bloody Mary because I don't believe drinks should be allowed to be spicy, but this one, for having jalapeño, is not spicy at all. If anything, it's slightly savory with its tropical flavor. The bartender was great. They have appetizers and tapas as well and as my girlfriend sat down, she really wanted just one of their fresh oysters. I ordered her just one to try and it was $4.25. They gave us the smallest one they could find. The tiniest oyster of all time. I guess size really didn't matter because according to her it was very good. I would go back and have a few more cocktails, but it is a nice place to hang out on the square on a Friday night. A good time to be had by all. RIYL: The finest, most $15ish cocktail you can find.

I completely understand if a restaurant cannot accommodate that request because of cross-contamination policies. My issue was with how it was handled. The waitress responded with "just don't get it," which felt dismissive. After I decided we would leave and eat somewhere else, she began grabbing the menus while we were walking away and sarcastically said, "Happy Mother's Day." I then asked to speak with the manager to explain that my concern was not the policy itself, but the rude delivery and attitude. While I was speaking to the manager, the waitress later walked by and asked, "what are you going to do about it?" and also told me to "go to Red Lobster." The manager did listen and said she would speak with her, which I appreciated, but the overall interaction felt unnecessarily rude and unprofessional. Customers asking allergy-related questions should still be treated respectfully, even if the restaurant cannot accommodate the request.

I was not to hot on the idea of eating at this place since bar food can be a "hit or miss" at it's best. Found the place, especially since we don't get to Tyler that often. Okay, doesn't look like a horrible place, around 3ish, I can do a late lunch, early dinner. Walk in, a couple of people in there, bartender tells us to set wherever we want to. Brings us menus, gets our drinks. The place has a Vietnamese type menu with some really good looking burger sandwiches on it too, so I'm undecided of what I want. The bartender tells us that the burgers are the choice the crowds usually. I got the Sky Burger, I think that is what it was called. Excellent burger and choice. The Chef, owner and the bartender provided excellent service. The bartender was on top of his game always checking on us to see if we needed anything and if we were satisfied. They have a little stage, not a real big place and it looks like the draw the local crowd. They give a Veteran's discount on their menu items which I always ask for and appreciate. It look's like a neighborhood gem. We'll definitely stop back in when we're back in Tyler again because I want to try their fried rice that I saw on the menu.
