The price of the food was very reasonable and the sandwich was pretty good with fesh ingredients. I was very pleased with it. The coleslaw was kind of bad so that made its way to the trashcan. While numerous places around Tyler serve fried catfish, this is the most classic we have found so far. The filets are fresh and fried expertly in the correct cornmeal-type dredge. The fried shrimps are also fresh and tasty, but hidden under a too-heavy batter. These should be dredged lightly in seasoned cornmeal flour so as not to take away from the fresh morsel underneath. The French fries, while frozen, had a nice crust that was to our liking. Hush puppies were also quite good. The restaurant was very busy, and an open kitchen gave witness to the very busy staff, who were hurried but friendly. Definitely worth a return to try more offerings. read more

My son and I went out for milk and ended up having lunch to catch up on things, and he recommended The Catch. He's been craving and eyeballing the Crawfish Special. I've not really ever experienced a Crawfish cuisine, and I didn't start today. However, I ordered the Shrimp & Catfish (med) Fried Combo and hot damn was it ever delicious and filling! Plenty of food to share or take home for later. 6 pieces of tender white catfish, fried to perfection. Some places the batter is so oily that it's soggy. However, the crust on these were perfect and crispy. The meal came with fries and hush puppies. We both enjoyed a cold beer. My boy, he didn't hesitate and ordered up 2 lbs. of the crawfish... and he ate every single finger licking, mouth smacking, clothes staining one. He was right- this place didn't disappoint at all! I'm hoping to come back and try some other menu options. My Cajun dining experience is limited, but if they are anything less than The Catch in Louisiana, that'll be greatly disappointing but phenomenal for this joint!! We will be back for sure! We love this place. We go here pretty often and the food, service and ambiance are always great. The food is so fresh and hot. The manager is very attentive and always checks on us. We love everything we have tried here. We have ordered white fish, catfish, fried shrimp, shrimp tacos, sweet potato fries, beans and rice and hush puppies, beignets and key lime pie. Until last night, the food and service have been exceptional; they were a go-to for lunch, dinner, and home delivery. Last night was a huge disappointment. I placed an order through Uber Eats for 5 lbs of crawfish, 2 porboys, 1 order of hush puppies, 4 key lime pie, and 3 orders of beignets. When the order arrived there was barely 3 lbs of crawfish, many of which were crushed, mushy, and tasted extremely fishy. One of the porboys was smashed, one key lime pie looked like it had been dropped into the container, and the beignets and hush puppies were missing. I could not determine if the omission was the fault of The Catch or part of the order was taken by the driver. It took 3 attempts with Uber Eats to receive a partial refund. My call to the Catch was disappointing and unprofessional. All the on duty manager would say is, "It's not our problem - it's Uber Eats". I beg to differ, the quality of the food is always the responsibility of the restaurant. At the very least she should have offered to have us come in and sample some crawfish. If I were the manager I would have offered 2lbs and a few beignets. As it stands now - I can longer justify patronizing this establishment nor can I recommend it to others. Wow, did The Catch change management/ownership?? We hadn't ordered from here for months and my husband wanted some Gumbo so we decided to try it again. Everything was excellent! I ordered the popcorn shrimp basket. The shrimp was perfectly fried and delicious. The fries were good and so were the hush puppies ! My husband had the gumbo and he loved it. He also ordered a combo basket of catfish and shrimp and it was also delicious. Oh, and I ordered a large cheese grits that I tried this morning and it was sooo good! My favorite filet catfish dinner can be found at The Catch. My husband and I were pleasantly surprised by this small hole in the wall place. The super sweet cashier/server made our visit even better. Her name is Bella and she is the perfect example of friendly service. She was extremely helpful and made our visit even better. We learned from her that there was a jumbo size catfish filet basket that came with 4 huge filets, fries, and hush puppies. My husband and I ordered that to share and then ordered a regular side of fried okra and coleslaw. We also got one tea and one water and our entire mill was $25. Bella was even kind enough to split the basket for us. There was a lady beside me eating boiled shrimp with potatoes that looked amazing as well. We will definitely become regulars. Let me start off by saying I love their food and I recommend it. Their service leaves a lot to be desired. Last time I went, I had part of my order left off, but I let it go. Today I went and ordered grilled fish and shrimp. Left a good tip. Got all the way home and it was all fried. Drove back. They redid the order but no apology, no explanation, nothing. They brought me the correct order after another 8 minutes and handed it to me. Not a word, just walked away. So far this has been my best dining experience in Tyler along with Ruby's Mexican and c. Rojo's. I ended up At the catch after being turned away in the parking lot of the Grove without even so much as an Apollo G. The same thing Happened a few nights ago at Mikoto Ramen bar as well as Bernard's. This towns Establishments are really lazy about maintaining their yelp/on-line hours. Anyway this is one of the best Poboys I've ever had along with one of the best sandwich breads I've ever had. We go here alot! Heffran/Efren was the best manager there not sure who is running the show now as of January 11, 2023. It is always busy. The phones always ringing - people come in for to go orders and there's always usually a line but it goes quick. The cook with the curly black short hair is the best specially when it's crawfish season he knows what he's doing. He cooks the crawfish perfectly - season on the medium side is best - when he's not cooking the other cook doesn't cook them long enough and doesn't know how to season them. The sweet tea is usually sweet, but it seems like there's no sugar when they make a second or third batch in the afternoon Place is pretty clean, but when they get busy, it gets sloppy - I'm clearing the tables and keeping the bathroom clean just to sit or get another drink from the drink station. Their clam chowder is pretty darn good. Their gumbo is great and they're fried fillet catfish is delicious and perfect Overall, we love their food and we've been going there for at least over a year now. Worst experience by far. I ordered online through the catch website that said it would be ready at 6:23pm. I understand if it's busy it can take a little longer but not 40 minutes longer. The first two times my husband went inside he was told "it's not ready yet" which would insinuate that they have our order. The third time he went inside to check if it was ready he was told they don't have an order under my name... This time they actually start to look for an order under my name and what do you know.. they found it. They got the food together somewhat quickly but when I ask for a partial refund for having to wait 40 minutes past the pickup time they claim they can't do it because I ordered online. They call their manager who says he can do it from the office Monday. Okay great- Then when we get up to leave and I grab the bag of food that was in front of me the whole time I was talking with the guy about a refund and he saw me go through the boxes to make sure it was all correct, he tells me I can't take the food if I'm getting a refund. At this point it's 7:18 so I just take the food. I will NEVER be back to this establishment. Terrible service from the staff working as well as the manager called. read more
