We were going kayaking at Caddo Lake so we left a day early to stay and eat in Tyler. We got there about 2 pm on a wed. We both knew we wanted a shrimp boil so Harold hooked us up. It took a few minutes cause he cooked it fresh. Garlic parmesan mild for Glenda, and SleeZe sauce medium for me. It was delicious, but I always forget I hate to peel shrimp! Just like mudbugs, I'm not sure it's worth the trouble. But it sure was good! Corn on the cob and potatoes were both covered in the sauce. So good! Sausage was a little tough, but still good. Overall, a great meal. Next time we are in Tyler, I will definitely try something else on the delicious menu, so I won't have to peel shrimp! read more

Went July 20, afternoon. Super hot outside. Inside was slightly cooler, but I know they've had AC issues. Imagine poor Uncle Jack working the kitchen! I overheard they had fried ribs so I got those. Right before, I asked the cashier if there were any specials and she said no. Even though fried ribs weren't on the menu... maybe now she knows. The ribs were great. The only downside was they were very hot (temperature), and it was so hot that day. My bad. The batter on the fried ribs was very unique--lighter than what I expected, but different/better than tempura. Makes me want to try their other fried foods, though I normally try to eat healthier. But next I gotta try the seafood boil. =) I had the ribs with hot honey garlic (cashier rec), which was very tasty, but also wanted to try their famous SLZ ("sleazy") sauce. Uncle Jack was kind enough to whip me up a little on the spot; it was neat watching him mix it all together. Later, Uncle Jack came out from the kitchen to check on all the patrons. This was my first visit here. It's a simple, basic set up, but some of the best food in East Texas. I got a 10 piece fried shrimp (comes with fries), with sides of potatoes and corn. First thing - this was enough for two meals, and I'll finish tomorrow. Second, and more important, everything was delicious. The sides came with a rich, seasoned butter sauce that went well with the shrimp, too. Almost forgot dessert - it was a huge slice of cake they made there (drawing a blank on the name of the cake), and just as good as the main course. Great food, great people, and lifelong Tyler folks. Well this place by far is a old Tyler goodie!!! I'll b honest with you, this place needs a deep cleaning inside and out!!! Looking at the outside I'm afraid to see the kitchen area! Went here for the first time today and I will never go anywhere else for wings again! These chicken wings are SO good the sauce is amazing and the price can't be beat for the amount of food you get! 10pc with fries is about 21$ and you get 10 WHOLE wings not just the drums or flats. So really that's more like a 20pc meal with fries for 21$! The staff was super friendly and the customers in there eating already were raving about what they were eating and recommending stuff as well lol Not a huge restaurant to dine in, but when more people realize there's better options than buffalo wing wings and wingstop they can expand and add more dinning-room tables!! read more

The menu covers two boards, and that doesn't mention the off-menu goodies. Ask about the fried ribs. Then order them. Also order the whole fried catfish. The jumbo fried shrimp are crispy and delicious. And the collards are off the chain. They had fried or grilled lamb chops, pork chops, and steak. There was mention of the lobster tail. What?? If the other food is any indication, it will be flawless! Hot water cornbread is a must. Tennessee whiskey sweet potato pound cake. If that doesn't tell you anything then I don't know what to say. I am a hard-core lover of Lemon Pepper Wings, and there have only been 2 places in the U.S. that have thoroughly impressed me, and Uncle Jack's is one of them! Sadly, the other one has since closed. Uncle Jack's is also in the process of placing a Fried Catfish, Greens, Mac & Cheese Burrito on the menu, that I had the pleasure of sampling, and it is absolutely AMAAAAAAAAZING!!!!!!! I live in north Fort Worth and seen the "Texas Bucket List" episode featuring Uncle Jacks Kitchen. Thought, we should make a day trip (I've worked upgrading cell site equipment in east TX) to Tyler and try this place. Coming back from a funeral in Jackson, MS, thought we are this far east, we will detour thru Tyler and stop. When we arrived, we were 5 minutes early. Uncle Jack thru the window put up 5 fingers to let me know they were not open yet. Once open (he opened the doors a couple of minutes early) I went in behind another couple and ordered two of the seafood boil specials. With two drinks (I think they only come in large) it was $90.00. Thought that was expensive, but the same as I pay for a little less seafood local to Ft. Worth. Uncle Jack took my order, we talked a brief minute about the show and my order and I was told 20 minutes. As I waited, I could hear running updates on the status of the orders, nice to know where I'm at with the food status. Food was prepped for take out and the drive to Ft. Worth. Advised how to reheat once I got home. Super friendly and customer focused people, both Uncle Jack and the nice young lady handing me the food. Got home, reheated and directed and very impressed with the food. I could have had a little more spice, but the flavor was everything I had hoped for. Uncle Jack has a secret flavor profile that he uses that makes his boil a little different. Lots of food, great people, super friendly customer service!
