    Camerones a la diabla

Great food! The camerones à la diabla is fantastic! The service is definitely lacking but I'd go back for this dish anytime!

    Mango margarita!

The food is amazing! I went the first time and ordered the seafood soup and it was great, but the shrimp in the soup were rubbery and inedible- but the overall flavor of the soup and all of the other seafood in it made up for the shrimp! The second time we went I ordered the same thing and the shrimp were perfect! My complaint is that the service is sooooo slow!!!! The first time we went it was a table of 4 and it took TWO hours at lunch on a Friday. This time was lunch on a Saturday for a table of 4 and it took 1 1/2 hours. Which would have been totally fine if we got drink refills but the server was MIA most of the time we were sitting there.... both times.

    Mariachi

This is my favorite place in Tyler. The food is great, the staff are efficient and friendly, and the treat of Mariachi on Friday evenings and Sundays make this place a 10 out of 10 consistently. Try it, you won't be disappointed.

    Very clean and spacious.

Awful. Shrimp was so tough you couldn't cut it with a fork. Fried fish was not good either. I wanted to send it back but we just left.

My friend and my girlfriend both ordered their espresso martini that my friend claimed was the best espresso martini in town, while I got the bartender's recommendation of the Animal Style, a pineapple and jalapeño infused tequila with strawberries, cardamom bitters, and a lemon peel garnish. Normally, I hate any drink that is spicy. I cannot stand a Bloody Mary because I don't believe drinks should be allowed to be spicy, but this one, for having jalapeño, is not spicy at all. If anything, it's slightly savory with its tropical flavor. The bartender was great. They have appetizers and tapas as well and as my girlfriend sat down, she really wanted just one of their fresh oysters. I ordered her just one to try and it was $4.25. They gave us the smallest one they could find. The tiniest oyster of all time. I guess size really didn't matter because according to her it was very good. I would go back and have a few more cocktails, but it is a nice place to hang out on the square on a Friday night. A good time to be had by all. RIYL: The finest, most $15ish cocktail you can find.

The food (oysters again) simply fresh, almost as if I were in some beachside cafe. All the oysters here are from cold water places Nova Scotia for one. This is where we get ready to cha cha, swing, rhumba, and tango. Ran into my fellow veteran friend Al whom I met my first time here. Wonderful food, friends, and company. You'll love it too. Go !

You come back to a place like Happy's, and it tastes like a Michelin Star establishment compared to the seafood up in Lubbock. Where is that fish from? The ponds? Ain't no way. Happy's is a staple of Tyler. Owned by the same team as Mercados and Posados, Happy's is their only seafood establishment, and it is a fine piece of art. Inside, there's plenty of lamps and fish hanging on the walls and decor that feels strongly inspired by Mardi Gras. The truest display of their beauty is a chandelier made of Corona bottles. I was meeting my aunt and uncle for lunch with my girlfriend, and my uncle knows this place up and down. You could tell it's one of his favorite spots in Tyler by how he lit up when I suggested it as the place we go to lunch together while I was visiting. We used to go quite a bit when I was still living in Tyler, and he still knows the name of the waitresses and they love him back. I went for the Catfish Po Boy because man did it sound fire. I got it with a side of fries and fried okra. The okra was great and the fries were super crispy. The Po Boy itself was the star of the show. I unwrapped it and destroyed the entire thing. The catfish side was super crispy and delicious and had a fantastic flavor. It tasted fresh and I knew it was really special. My girlfriend got the gumbo and thought it was incredible as well along with eating half of my fried okra. Happy's might have some of the best seafood in Tyler. It's a great establishment, and I was proud to be able to show it to my visiting girlfriend as the pride and joy of some of the food Tyler has to offer. RIYL: Something fishy

We started with the onion rings for an appetizer, in fact we received our appetizer before we received our drinks.. that is how slow Kristen was. The right amount of crunch with the perfect amount of Cajun seasoning! So good! I had the catfish po boy with fried okra and French fries. The bread was a good, the catfish was tasty, very thin though. The fried okra and French fries were good too. My husband had the catfish plate, also had fried okra and French fries as his side. His catfish filets were thicker than my po boy. Food was amazing with large portions. Service needs work.

The shrimp were cooked perfectly, the seasoning was on point, and everything came out fresh and hot. I'm convinced somebody in that kitchen has a direct connection to the Gulf because there's no reason seafood in East Texas should taste that good. The place was busy, the staff was hustling, and somehow everything still came out fast. By the end of the meal I was already planning what I was ordering next time before I had even paid the check. If you leave Skipper's hungry, that's honestly a personal decision.

I went here with my dad who was born and raised in the area. He explained that we should go early…read morebecause they can get really busy, really quickly. So we went at around 4:45 in the afternoon on a Friday. There was already a 20-30 minute wait for a table inside, but instant seating on the patio, which we took. I'm breaking this into two scores--the food which is the most important, and the service (not just waitress, but overall). Food 4.5 stars--not perfect, but very good. Service 3.0 After getting seated on the patio we were told the server would be out shortly. After about 15 minutes I went back in to ask for menus--coincidently the person that seated us was telling the server that they had people at our table, so I turned around and went back out. Shortly thereafter we were given menus and we ordered drinks. Dad got 50/50 tea and I got water and a whisky rocks which confused the waitress. "So like, with Coke?" No, ma'am, just the whiskey poured over rocks, whatever your house whiskey is, I'm not that picky. We already knew what we wanted and ordered the catfish filets with fries, and fried okra. The food came quickly, but still no drinks. Eventually those came out. My whiskey was in a larger glass, not a whole lot but enough not to complain. The waitress then asked if I wanted a straw for it because she wasn't sure. She might have been new to service, so I'm not upset, I was more amused. She is working at a bar/restaurant but perhaps the servers are kept seperate and she's not used to running for the bar. The food was excellent. The catfish was freshly fried, the outside a good crunchy crust and the inside darn near dissolved it was so tender and moist, not even a hint of being over or under done. Excellent flavor, it didn't need the house made dips (a tartar and a cocktail sauce, both great), but they complimented it. Tartar was heavy on mayo flavor than traditional tartar, but you could still tell what it was. Cocktail sauce seemed fairly standard, I guess I can't promise that one was house made. Two jalapeno hush puppies came with it. They were standard fair, a little bit of spice, enough to enjoy while letting non-spicy people still tolerate it. Crunch went deep, the center was cooked but a lot less of the ratio than the crunch outside. Fries were also standard, but fried well, good crunch and fluffy inside. Fish was the absolute star, it was "close your eyes and enjoy" good. Fried okra was bland. It was crunch on the outside, soft but not gooey on the inside so they treated it well to reduce the slime, but it didn't stand out from any other fried okra I've had. Wouldn't get it again, but it was cheap. Didn't get checked on very often, I think we were offered drink refills when we asked for the check. Got the bill. Fish plates, $16. Okra side: 3.50. My one ounce of whiskey, TWELVE DOLLARS. I don't know if she rang it in wrong, or if their prices are just ridiculous for that stuff. Lesson learned, don't order alcohol here. But most certainly order the fish. Service lacking, perhaps still learning, fish was absolutely wonderful.
