It is nice that the buffet participates in the GSR locals discount program which makes it priced a little more reasonably for what you get, but it is still hard to get full value. The selection is decent, the carving station gives generous portions if requested, the pizza is good for a buffet, the fries are crispy and have flavor, and the sweets, pies, and gelato are actually better than average. The American booth such as pot roast and mashed potatoes with gravy is a little subpar and taste a little cheap. I think the best food there are the Asian dishes and the fried rice, overall. The negatives are that everything isn't the freshest or the best quality, some things are more or less. The food tastes sometimes stale or of lower quality. A bad example is that when I approached the dinner rolls, there were a couple of small gnat flies on a couple pieces of bread, when I shook the basket to shoo them away about a cloud of 25 gnats flew off and then promptly rested back on the bread... So don't eat the bread, lol. I have to admit, there are much better places and buffets in Reno and I would only go here if I am taking a Staycation at the GSR or if a family gathering requested it, but there are worse places and you dictate your own experience.

The overall quality varies but they do usually have snow crab legs at dinner regularly, which is the main reason we would choose this buffet. (Atlantis only does crab on the higher priced weekends). They recently did a special Crab event at $80pp and there was no line at all, probably just too expensive in this economy. They had cold Jonah claws, snow and Dungeness clusters, mini crab cakes, and crab soup. They also advertised King crab but what they had was just the skinny tips which you were given a ticket for one plate. Not worth the price paid, but the cold crab was good quality. I would say thier higher priced special nights just aren't worth it, but the regular weekday with locals discount is decent. Tip: if you prefer warmed crab they will steam it for you or you can have the mongolian grill warm it up with or without asian sauces.

The ayce setup still gives you a lot on each dish and you risk over ordering and get the dreaded wasted food surcharge. Until they set their prices to a steal I would visit this place cautiously or it will drain your weekly dining budget quickly. Staff still is friendly like always and the place is always good to bring a big group but I wish they would make it "local" friendly on the pocket. If they perhaps gave smaller dishes each time you order beef you could order more variety but it limits you because one plate of beef is good to feed some people a full meal. That then defeats the purpose of ayce. A la carte items is also priced so high you cant get more than one dish for each person to get variety. To sum it up, they've rigged it to have each person spend at least 40 to 50 dollars to have a reasonably enjoyable experience here trying their many good items.

I came here during the holiday, Mother's Day, which had an influx of guests at the restaurant. The server throughout my dining experience was Tori. She was recently hired as a new server and wasn't too knowledgeable about the menu as of yet. With that being said, I desired to show patience and grace since she was still in the training stage. I proceeded to order the following items for dinner: * Oysters on the Half Shell (6) * Lobster Bisque Bowl * $29 Special - Filet Mignon & Jumbo Shrimp with Green Beans and Mashed Potatoes The entire occurrence presented as quite interesting, to say the least. I first received the oysters. It had arrived with an empty serving vessel, which was supposed to be filled with the mignonette sauce. Tori quickly fixed this mistake. The oysters met expectations in terms of freshness and quality. They were very delicious with the mignonette sauce, cocktail sauce, and lemon juice. Then, I received the Lobster Tomato Bisque. The soup was lacking in flavor and needed help in the seasoning department. I grabbed the peppercorn grinder, which was readily available at the table. Upon twisting the grinder, a lot of peppercorns fell into the soup unfortunately. I kindly requested that Tori replace the soup. A nearby table had the same situation, where an individual had a bunch of pink salt spill over the baked potato dish. Tori was also their server. I noticed that Tori pointed at me and mentioned to the party that I did the same action. When making that observation, I was quite embarrassed. I understood that Tori was trying to make the other table feel better but the finger-pointing provided a slightly unpleasant feeling to me. I finally received the Filet Mignon & Jumbo Shrimp with Green Beans and Mashed Potatoes as the entree. However, it took a total of 1.5 hours to arrive at the table. It was quite long and a little frustrating, especially since I've noticed that a couple of parties that seated after me ordered the same meal deal and their food arrived before mine. The steak and shrimp were delectable. The green beans were bland (used butter, pepper + salt) and the mashed potatoes were decent in flavor. All in all, the evening at Boomtown Steakhouse was underwhelming. From the food taking a while to come out, sitting down at a wobbly table, the soup tasting bland, and the overall hospitality from Tori, the experience left some room to be desired. At the end, I truly appreciated the complimentary chocolate mousse dessert. This offering made up slightly for everything that had transpired. I don't recommend visiting this restaurant on a holiday, including Mother's Day. When I decide to return here, it will be on a regular weekday.

We got to choose between staying on the 3rd floor (spa/gym floor) or a higher floor, and we chose for the higher floor which had a decent view. The casino seemed older than others we been to, but it seemed the hotel portion was updated. There were several elevators we could use, and it was nice that it was a clear glass elevator so you could see out. We did not hang out at the casino, but it also seems a bit older. You can definitely smell the smoke in here. We only tried the Purple Parrot for dining and it was solid. There seemed to be a seafood restaurant and it smelled quite fishy in that area. They have an arcade on the second floor for kids. We ended up finding several machines that were broken so we got some free play out of it, which was fun. The arcade seems to be open 24/7 but redeeming rewards may be during limited hours. The spa was great! The gym area was also pretty good as well, many machines to use. They also have yoga mats to use, but my only critique is there is not much space to lay your yoga mat in without feeling like you're in someone's way. However, the gym was not very busy at all in the morning time when I went. In the gym, they had a water refill station, towels, and fruit offered. Remember to bring your hotel card because they will ask that it's scanned at the entrance. Service was friendly at the front desk at check in and check out. Seriously OUTDATED. The carpets are dirty my sons feet turned black due to no socks just from the carpet. Super rough towels a couple were stained. Wallpaper peeling off outdated curtains and all the decor is really old the only thing new in here is a lamp the tables are all scratched and have writing on them. The shower is disgusting and doesn't even drain it's clogged. The toilet paper is paper thin. I could be sounding like a bitch but when you pay for something you want quality this room could've had outdated decor and what not but at least be clean these carpets either need to come out or need a serious shampooing. The bed has nice sheets but the under blanket is literally one of motel 6 before motel 6 remodeled. Actually I would compare this whole room to a motel 6 before motel 6 stepped their game up. Anyways I would recommend GSR (that's my #1 top choice but unfortunately they didn't have any rooms available), silver legacy, peppermill, don't come here, or circus circus. They're both run down and need a face lift. ASAP. Oh and right when you walk in you're slapped in the face with a ton of cigarette smoke it's one thing to have a casino and know there's smoking but at least have it ventilated and have it NON smoking next to the registration desk especially since there's children around. BTW the air conditioning is broken down in the casino as of right now so you're bothered with heat and smoke. However at the Buffett the people there are super nice and attentive its actually decent and looks updated. Not impressive for $40 per person. Salad selections were sorely lacking. No appetizer selections. Food had not been stirred after sitting out for a while, so a lot of it was dry. For instance, the clams had no juice left in the tray. Gravies had not been stirred and were caked around the edges of the containers. Crab, on the other hand, was great and there was plenty of it. The pork loin with mushroom sauce was excellent. Chicken wings were dry and horrible. It's a mixed bag and the food needs to be more presentable. Attentiveness of staff was great. The restaurant was very clean and the ambiance was nicely done. Interior entrance to the hotel check-in was impressive. Carpet and lighting were well done and not garish. Probably will not go back to the buffet but will try the steak house next. read more

I visited on Tuesday for what was advertised as Margarita night with tacos. Unfortunately, there were no tacos available at all. Most of the food items were nearly gone, and what was left had been sitting out for so long that it was dried up. The crab was overly salty and tasted as if it had been reheated multiple times. I noticed more guests arriving, yet nothing was done to replenish the missing items. If I could give this place zero stars, I would. While the service was friendly and the staff nice, the food was simply not worth the cost. Save your money and choose another option if you're looking for a satisfying meal. read more

I was really looking forward to trying the buffet at the J Resort, but unfortunately, it was a big letdown. The food quality was far from impressive especially the seafood. I was shocked to find that my crab had sea lice, which was both unappetizing and concerning. Definitely not what you'd expect from a place that charges premium buffet prices. The crab was fresh, delicious and they were very generous with it. We are heading back to the Peppermill next month and Oceano is definitely at the top of our list. Highly recommend!

The Atlantis Resort and Casino is already a must stop spot whether you're a Reno local or visiting Reno for the first time, so while you're here/if you haven't already, you definitely need to check out Red Bloom. Red Bloom brings a unique blend of popular cuisine from China, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam to create a great menu of variety and flavors. From atmosphere, to food, to service it was overall a great experience. Transparently, it isn't often I receive 'bad service' however this particular day at Red Bloom, exceeded expectations. Not only was staff incredibly kind and welcoming but they truly delivered a quality customer experience. Everyone was incredibly hospitable and checking in with us regularly, we felt like VIP members and this alone created a very positive ambiance for our meal. We had such a hard time deciding on our options that day but ended up going with a number of appetizers rather than entrees as well as a Mango fruit tea boba! I'm a sucker for boba and the tea itself was super refreshing and very aesthetically pleasing. I'm not a huge fan of pork plates however, there are a few that I will bend for and the Pork Bao Buns are what bring me back to Red Bloom every time! They are such a nice texture and the cucumber compliments the meat very well. We also grabbed the BBQ pork buns, Crab Rangoon and lastly some Shrimp Har Gow which we topped with some chili crunch and soy sauce and it made a great bite!! Overall, it is always a great experience at Red Bloom. If you're looking for quality customer service, hospitality and good eats it's definitely worth checking out!

Went here on a Friday night, and a weekday for lunch and both times, the food came out in a very fair amount of time. Plenty of tables. Tried the "dirty fries" finally, which #3 comes with sour cream, chives, green onions, bacon, and cheddar cheese. I asked for new cheddar cheese, could've used more sour cream, but really impressive, you're given BIG bacon chunks, not bacon bits. The fish and shrimp are still my favorites for the great batter to fish ratio. The "chips" aren't authentic to Britain but I still love thick fries. Will keep going back!

Their Gordon's sauce was fresh and had a distinct tartar sauce flavor from all the herbs. The fish was nicely battered and perfectly salted fries. Was curious about their lobster and shrimp and chips but wasn't that hungry. Will have to check it out next time.

We've become regulars that the ladies tell us what our drink orders are. The dining room had a good amount of customers but not overly crowded. Their Mongolian BBQ section was really hopping that day; the cook was furiously cooking made-to-order dishes like an absolute champ. Meanwhile, their sushi chef was studiously replenishing their sushi section with fresh sushi rolls. The back kitchen steadily refilled the Chinese section with freshly prepared entrees and we found out later that they had a new shipment of ice cream because the tubs were filled soft, velvety ice cream. As usual, our 4-person party had an enjoyable lunch, we ate good food but best of all, we had exceptionally attentive and friendly service. The staff at Wong's Genghis Khan are just the best.

I only ordered off the "Authentic Szechuan Gourmet" menu and highly recommend you do too! The cumin lamb and chicken wings were also full of flavor, and well executed. The service was pleasant and very accommodating to the group, we had a person with a peanut allergy and they let us order stuff with the peanuts on the side, and knew about the allergens in the chili oil. The sauce definitely was a perfect sauce full of flavor. We are definitely going back to try more dishes. The lady that served us was very sweet. She checked on us frequently. The service was okay, nothing particularly stood out, there were no major issues either. The sushi rolls were pretty much what you'd expect from a typical sushi restaurant. There's a good variety, but I didn't find anything that really stood out as exceptional. The biggest disappointment for me was the ice cream. The presentation made it look like it had been served in the cup, allowed to melt somewhat, and then put back in the freezer. It was poorly presented, which wasn't a great way to finish the meal. Overall, my experience was okay for a first visit. It was a busy atmosphere. Okay service. Average food. Nothing really made me feel like I had to come back.
