    Pulled Pork Poutine (Dont Recommend)

Great Spot for food and drinks, highly recommend if you're in Agassiz! Service is super friendly, all the waiters we're constantly checking on us to make sure we were okay and cracked jokes with us too! Atmosphere is cozy, great music and love the decor! We ordered: * Pulled Pork Poutine $15.95 * Broken Whiskey Ribs $25.99 * Tequila Sunrise (Recommend) * Lime Margarita The pulled pork was flavourful and juicy, fries were crispy but unfortunately the gravy was quite salty. So I wouldn't recommend the poutine but I'd get the fries as a side with my burger next time! The ribs was okay, wasn't anything to special, fries were crispy and the sides were okay. For food today we'd come back to try their burgers! We had other people in our table that enjoyed the burgers. As for the drinks, super tasty. We tried a few off their menu and worth giving one of their special drinks a try! Overall we'd come back to try other food and drinks on the menu!

    Cute decor.

Yummy. We recently moved back to BC just at the beginning of March 2020. Unfortunately due to Covid we kept driving by this place but it was never open. Now due to the flooding in the Fraser Valley we haven't really been able to get out to Vancouver to restaurants like we normally do so we remembered this place that we wanted to try since we saw it Wayback during the pandemic. We were not disappointed. First of all the ambiance and decor in this place are absolutely adorable its western themed and they really made sure to take care of all the little touches. It's done extremely well not hokey absolutely adorable. Since we wanted to come here for so long we've been eyeing up the menu and we're slightly disappointed to see that some of the items were not available however totally appreciated that the top of the menu that they're using right now actually states that they're having issues getting certain ingredients so definitely not a big deal we just readjusted it. We had a table of three and we ordered a lot of stuff to try and share. My cousin ordered the mushroom schnitzel and the mac & cheese. I can't even count the amount of times he said how amazing the schnitzel was. He was loving the sautéed mushrooms and delicious gravy that topped it and kept trying to force everyone at the table to try it. Even though it had mushrooms which my husband hated when he tried it he actually liked it. But schnitzel came with a potato and braised cabbage both of which were absolutely delicious. The mac & cheese was so creamy and we all shared it it was very decadent. My husband has taco review so he tried out the fish tacos and the pulled pork poutine. I am allergic to fish so I did not get a first-hand taste of these however he did review them very well. Also I confess I'm not a french fry fan so I have no ability to weigh in on the poutine situation but the other two people in my group happily munched it down with resounding compliment. As for me I ordered the Cordon Bleu schnitzel and wow. It came with a delicious baked potato filled with cheese sauce and bacon bits and braised purple cabbage. I'm biased because German food is my absolute favourite and this schnitzel wears up there with the best of them. I've had schnitzel in Germany, I've had schnitzel in Austria this is comparable with some of the best ones I've had there. So crispy and crunchy but not greasy at all. My mom loves schnitzel and I cannot wait for her to come down and visit and try this for herself. Everyone was picking bites off my plate that's how good it was. We're excited to come back and try out some more things on the item I'm hoping the smothered chicken comes back soon because the online menu makes it sound amazing. I also want to touch on the staff there there incredibly nice people incredibly helpful and made the experience even better than just the food. They have this really cool thing that she called wacky Wednesday and the experiment with a totally off-the-wall recipe. Some of the creations I've seen online are totally nuts but I imagine delicious. Everything in this place seems done well from the minute you walk in the decor pleasant staff and most importantly the food definitely make the trip out to Aggazi for this place I really don't think you will regret it.

Stop 5 - The Broken Whisk Restaurant AgassizAgassiz, BC - March 6, 2021 Stop five on our culinary adventure involved a beautiful scenic hour long drive from Abbotsford to Agassiz. Now the drive alone is worth it but to know you will be trying out a new restaurant at the end of the road made it all the more lovely. The Broken Whisk was Sadie's pick and it was a great one. Looking from the outside at the sign you don't expect that when you walk in you will see such cute and funky country western style décor. The background music was new country. As usual we were the first in line but there was a steady stream of customers behind. All Covid protocols were adhered to. This is a family style restaurant run by its owners Chef Michael and Ines Dicks. Ines was also our server. She is an absolute gem. One of those people who instantly make you feel special and so very welcome. She obviously loves her job. The lunch menu consisted of pub style food. Sadie ordered the Pioneer BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwich. She raved about it and actually said that this was her favorite meal so far in our travels. Deborah ordered the Iron Horse Alder Bacon Cheeseburger. She loved it and gave us each a tiny sample of the burger meat which was so good. Georgine ordered the Cod Burger and was very pleased with her choice. The fish fillet was huge and the batter excellent, perfectly crispy crunchy thin. There was enough for everyone to have a little taste of the fish. All the meals were served on these gorgeous soft potato buns with some great home fries. We are looking forward to going for another visit in the summer when they open up their deck up with their fireplace pizza oven. We imagined the view in the spring and summer when all the leaves burst open with the mountain backdrop and the quaint street fronts it is all very idyllic. We were all very happy with the excellent service and the delicious food. We give The Broken Whisk five stars.

Had our order taken by a rather surly unfriendly man. The coffee was outstanding but they seemed to be a bit short staffed so it wasn't refilled timely. Breakfast potatoes were delicious just like my mom used to make! Eggs were slightly underdone, bacon was great! Pancakes were kind of gummy, not fluffy and spongy like restaurant pancakes. The syrup seemed thin and flavourless. Just not really our thing I guess

-- update, with info about new location…read more We dropped by their new-to-open location in Agassiz on the way to Harrison Hot Springs, the morning of May 28/23. The new signage was up, but no business hours were posted at the locked entry to the property, and the restaurant definitely looked like it was not open for any business as yet. So when we reached the original location, before turning and heading on to Harrison, we found it open, and stopped in to acquire some information on 'when' their new facility would be opening for business. We were told this was 'the last day of business' for this location - they would be closing at the end of the business day today. And the new location in downtown Agassiz would be open for business "in a few days". On a side note -- when we stopped in, about 9:30am, they were very busy, with only one table in the place not occupied. We wished them well at their new location, and continued on to Harrison. Looking forward to checking out their new place when we are in the area next.

Cold in Every Possible Sense…read more My experience at Lakeside Restaurant was profoundly unpleasant, not because of a single mistake, but because of an overwhelming atmosphere of coldness--both literal and human. The dining area was uncomfortably cold, to the point where it detracted from any ability to relax or enjoy a meal. Patrons should not have to keep their coats on indoors to endure a restaurant experience. This alone signals a lack of basic consideration for customer comfort. More troubling, however, was the emotional temperature of the establishment. The service was distant, indifferent, and unwelcoming. There was no warmth, no attentiveness, and no sense that customers were valued. Interactions felt transactional at best and dismissive at worst. Hospitality is not merely about food; it is about atmosphere, care, and respect--none of which were present here. A restaurant situated by a lake should evoke comfort, warmth, and hospitality. Instead, Lakeside Restaurant felt sterile, uninviting, and inhospitable. I left feeling unwelcome and eager to be anywhere else. I would not recommend this establishment to anyone seeking a comfortable, welcoming dining experience.

All the premade food tastes & have the quality of a complimentary breakfast at a hotel. There are limited options & an omelette bar. Breakfast items quality is not the freshest & options of baked goods looked very unappetizing. We asked to be seated outside, & the view early that morning was gorgeous & peaceful. Our waitress was really sweet and patient. I'd say being outside in the sun & enjoying the view saves it. I didn't finish any of my plates & felt sick after. Right when I get to my room after breakfast, I had to puke. Was really hoping the breakfast was gonna elevate our hotel experience but did quite the opposite.

Cafes attached to garden stores are such a vibe, and it was quite spacious as well. The service was friendly too! The food was alright. I really liked the tomato jam on the breakfast sandwich, and the pork belly was quite tender, but I found that it was lacking in variety of texture and didn't quite have the punches of flavor I was hoping for. The veggie hash was also not super memorable--I wished the potatoes had been crispier or had more color/flavor. The patio area outside was nice to sit in for the morning, however, so it wouldn't be a bad place to have an iced coffee after perusing the plants if you were already in the area.

They have lots of vegan options, so this is what attracted us to the place. I got the vegan hash ($13 plus tax) and my wife got the vegan sandwich ($12.50 plus tax). The food came out in 10 minutes. The vegan hash was pretty solid. Lots of potatoes provide the base, accompanied by tofu, spinach, cherry tomatoes, red pepper and onions, and dressed with a red pepper coulis. I would have liked a larger portion, as I was hungry again a couple hours later, but I was happy with the quality -- and it was a pretty healthy dish. 4/5 My wife also enjoyed her vegan sandwich, which was pretty simply, but came on nice bread and had enough interesting things on it to be satisfying. The accompanying slaw was also quite nice. 3.5/5 The service was extremely nice -- they gave us a free vegan Nanaimo bar (quite tasty) because a bit of the sandwich fell onto the table as the server placed in down. Solid spot. I'd return when in Chilliwack.
