Love the Broiler it is a must go to place if u are in the DMV the staff is amazing!!! They give u the bag of fries like 5 guys but they are nice crispy crinkle cut. Me & my bf went on a Saturday around 9 call in orders were busy but we sat in & ordered. He got a steak & cheese & i got chicken i usually add bacon if i get chicken but i forgot this time. I'm afraid to post about this place, because I love it so much- and I don't want it to get crowded. But- they are great. And deserve to be successful. This is a burger joint. Formica booths. Limited menu. The best burgers, no frills, no fancy stuff, just the best burger, period. Classic crinkle cut fries, and plenty of them round out the perfect, classic burger. Big size. My husband and I split a burger and fries and are satisfied. We've been going here for several years, still the same staff. That says something about a business. Sandwiched between a Burger King and a Wendy's this place is always busy with that direct competition. But really, those places can't compete. Want a classic burger, no fancy stuff? We ordered take out today on a Saturday evening. We got 4 subs and fries. The guy on the phone said it would be ready in 15 minutes. We arrived there 15 minutes later and had to wait 30 minutes for our food. They should have quoted longer times given how busy they were. I was quite foul when I finally got the food. That being said the cheesesteak was pretty good. It was cheesy, stuffed, and flavorful. However, there was way too much mayo. The sandwich was dripping mayo which made the bread soggy. Good news was if you get a large, it comes in two separate wrapped subs and one of mine wasn't as soggy so that one was more enjoyable. French fries were golden and crispy. Tips: Size wise, I would say go for the large. The small has you wishing for another half of a small (each sub is cut in half). Go with light mayo. Swung by here for a quick lunch while doing some shopping in the area. A definite 'no fuss, no muss' kind of place, which I appreciate. I was feeling more sandwichy and pizzay and definitely in the mood for some fries, perfect place for that feeling. We ordered a small grilled chicken and cheese with everything and a large steak and cheese with just onions with some fries to share. Grilled Chicken Breast Sub- *FYI* the grilled chicken is not like a grilled chicken breast. It is more of a chicken philly. That aside, the sandwich was great. If you are going this route, I would recommend getting all of the toppings, it brought a lot of flavor and I don't think this sandwich could stand alone without it. Steak and Cheese Sub- It was OK. I think the issue is that no ingredient really stood out, but I do think adding mayo-lettuce-tomato, this would be a pretty good sub! It was just a bit too greasy and needed some other elements. Also, we got a large and it was a TON of food. My husband took half home and he never has leftovers. Fries- Pretty standard fat crinkle fry with a lot of potato. Not too greasy. A nice side because the subs are a bit greasy. We both agreed that the chicken sandwich was a little better than the steak. This is more of a 3.5 star review. If I had only tried their sub, it would've been a 4-5 star review. However, their pizza really brought it down for me. For the sub: ordered a mushroom steak and cheese with the works. Ordering the 12" basically gives you 2 separate sandwiches individually wrapped, which is nice since one "half" already fills you up. I think the price for the sub is fair for the area and they dont skimp on filling. For the pizza: when I first went to pick up the sub, I saw a pizza being pulled out of the oven and it looked delicious so I had to try it the next time. What I can say once I ordered it? Beyond disappointing. Firstly, the pizza is tiny for what you pay for. A slightly bigger version of a personal sized pizza. The crust looked and tasted like cardboard- keep in mind I'm a huge fan of thin crust pizza, but this wasn't just a thin crust pizza. The crust broke apart like thin brittle and was the most unsatisfying pizza I've ever had. To add to this, the pizza for $15 had 3 toppings on it but the only real thing on there was some pepperoni. read more

Stopped here again for a steak and cheese and think they have some of the best steak and cheese in the area. Cooked well, seasoned well, with great amount of cheese and on a great roll. I would stand clear fo the pizza, I may try it again at some point, and I will try other things on the menu. I've lived not too far from The Broiler for two years and I'm just now discovering it! I was craving a cheese steak sandwiches and when I typed it in the search bar on Yelp, The Broiler popped up. Since the establishment is close by, I decided to order on their website for me to pickup. The site was very easy to access and I was able to order my mushroom steak & cheese with french fries. Before you submit your order, you have the option to have the order ready asap or at a certain time. Since I was looking more for dinner time, I set my order for a 5:30pm pick up time. Once submitted, I received a notification text that would update me on my order. I arrived at the restaurant about 5 min before my scheduled pick-up time and notified the staff member that I was a little early. He kindly told me it was being made and will be ready at exactly 5:30pm. They sure worked super fast because it ended up being ready in less than 3 min after I checked in! I was very happy to have my food in hand and couldn't wait to dig in. Once I got home, I noticed that they sure give you a nice bagful of crinkle fries (a fave). The fries were really good although some were fried just a little too much to the point of extreme crunch. It didn't bother me too much as I wouldn't have eaten all those fries anyways. As for the sandwich, it was fresh and hot once I unwrapped the aluminum foil. The smell was amazing! I only ordered a 6in size and I instantly regretted not ordering the 12in afterwards. Although the presentation is a little messy, the sandwich was delicious! The cheese and meat ratio was perfect and I was in heaven! I was completely satisfied with my meal and wish I had more. I feel a little silly after passing this place so many times and didn't even think to stop here. They also have pizza here which I'll have to try out someday, but you can definitely expect me to be back for the sandwiches! The place absolutely SLAPS best cheesesteak in the DMV and I'm from Philly. The steak is seasoned soooo well nice and peppery, unlike the normal "steak and cheese" places that don't even use salt. It comes out soooo hot and fresh, I recommend eating it on the spot so you don't get soggy bread. Soggy bread is inevitable since the steak is so juicy and good. I was thinking steak and cheese for some reason. I was busy in the house all day, cleaning out. Tired and hungry. In had to hit the post office (don't bother with the Oakton branch if you need to mail something) and then I was off on 66 E. I called from across the street, ordering a 6" steak and cheese (no tomato) and an order of French fries. The voice on the phone said 10 minutes. Ok. Chill in the car with the radio on....out and across the street. The button to change the light is broken but with the minimal traffic, I made it across without a problem. I head toward to the spot to pickup my order. The place has the aroma of pizza and French fries cooking...I wish I could have stayed to eat....no go with the virus. I pay and tip and I'm gone. I have a beverage in the car to enjoy with the delicious crispy bread with the tender steak and yummy cheese. The fries are crispy and good. I think it's the best steak and cheese around having visited many a restaurant serving the same. I will be back. Glad they are open and doing business. read more

First, let me preface this by saying that I had a pretty shitty day. Things were not going right and I needed something to pacify my annoyance. When one has a pretty shitty day, the last thing you should do is eat healthy. You need grease and you need gooeyness, hence my pilgrimage to The Broiler. I ordered the 6'' mushroom cheesesteak and my GOD it was beautiful. I had to take a minute and just marvel at it. Pulling the sandwich apart the gooeyness of the cheese stretched across about a foot. The bread was fresh and the meat was cook to my liking. I don't think there is anything I didn't like about this sandwich. The best thing about it was that when I was done, I felt so good and empowered, that I was ready to take on the rest of the day. So thank you Broiler. You made my day. read more

The broiler is my husband and I's go to place for steak and cheeses. We have been patronizing the broiler for at least 20 years. Typically they hit a home run. When the Broiler changed owners we stopped going there because the food didn't taste as good. But we decided to give it another go a couple of weeks ago. Everything seemed fine. Was the main cook off today?? The sandwiches were soggy, my bread was burnt on top, and the fries were disappointing. When my husband and I got home we were shocked at how bland the food tasted. We spent $45 bucks on cheesesteaks and fries. Please train your cooks. There's an art to making a good cheesesteak and fries and the broiler fell short for us today. Decent cheesesteaks, but not all they are hyped up to be. I do like how they load them up with cheese. The pizza toppings were good and I'm glad they use no pork however, the crust is horrible. It's like eating cardboard. If they upgrade the crust, it would be a pretty good pizza. Is this place worth a 30 minute drive??? Hell no!!! My wife brought a pizza from Broiler's on 12/21/23. She brought it to my job that was 5 minutes away. I opened the box. The hole pizza was burnt. I bit it. I thought I was eating potato chips. Made a phone call. They had me to bring the pizza back. They cooked me another pizza. This time, I was with my wife. I bit the pizza. It has no taste to it. This must be under new management. The food didn't taste the same. I threw the pizza in the trash. I thought I would try the Clinton store. The food was much better. They just give you very small sandwiches and a little bit of fries. However, this sub at the Broiler... was absolutely amazing. It was everything I had wanted without even knowing it. The beef had that nice high heat (literally temperature not spicy) grilled taste. The cheese was ooey gooey good. The bread was great, chewy and crispy and soft but crunchy. I don't even know what words to use to describe how much i LOVED it. It was perfect. Cost: I think it was about $22? I honestly don't remember, but I did post pics of the menu! I was very full, didn't even finish the full foot long. Had 2 meals with it. Atmosphere/Appearance: It was an old timey diner looking place. Looked like it was a spot that had been around for a while. Very casual and laidback. There were alot of regulars (from what I can tell based off the conversations between the employees and customers). I loved the friendly feel. Service: It's not a sit down-service place. Been wanting to go here for over a year now as I heard the cheesesteak is one of the best in VA. I was dissapoonted with mine, bread was not fresh, meat was poor quality with some cartilage pieces. The sweet peppers were delicious at least and fresh. The fries were also medicore, I like Shake shack's ridged fries much better. Best cheesesteak in the area is Jersey Mike's still by far. The cool thing about this building though is that it has history and I believe once was a gas station way back in the day. I do support small operations and hope they use more quality ingredients. I have been a customer of The Broiler for the past 45 years. I love the steak and cheese, fries, and the pizza. Today, I ordered a pizza and my coworker picked it up for me. When I opened the box, I was so surprised to see how my pizza looked. This does not look a like the pizza that I have been eating for the past 45 years. I realize that management and staff will change, but you guys need to be taught how to make it the way it is supposed to be. It didn't even taste right. This was totally unacceptable. The Broiler's Staff Is Rude and Is Beginning to Take Customers for Granted :( I have been going to the Broiler since childhood (late 70's until now). I've introduced friends and then my children to this Arlington staple -- which I absolutely LOVED until recently. Sometime in the last few years, the establishment has come to take customers for granted. The person who answers the phone for telephone orders is gruff and seems mad that you are ordering. He brushes you off the phone as if you can't stop talking to him fast enough. And ... as if that isn't enough, they have become rude and downright disrespectful behind the counter too. The two little ones literally ignore you standing at the counter to order or pick up food until you ask them. Then, as if you don't matter, there's more waiting while they prepare any amount of food they feel comfortable with while you wait. It will not matter if your food is done or not -- you wait (like "The Soup Nazi" from Seinfeld) -- until they are good and ready to serve you. But wait ...there's more. If you ordered your food via phone they will dismiss you again to the other end of the counter -- to repeat your 10-15 minute wait again! All while your food sits atop the pizza oven. I'm 100% for going to small and local businesses -- but when you come to show your butt and take customer service for granted, I feel the need to remind you that there are OTHER and LESS COSTLY fast food solutions nearby. If this had been the 1st time, I would have let it slide. But it's like the 3rd and I'm over it. My recommendation: Skip the Broiler -- Go to Marios (3322 Wilson Blvd, Arlington, VA 22201) instead (also local but much better customer appreciation) -- until the Broiler gets their act together or a REALITY CHECK. Been eating at the Broiler since 2013. My go to place when working at DCA. Great Italian sausage sandwich and in my opinion, the best cheese steak in DC area. Being a Midwesterner I am not a fan of NY style pizza, so the Broilers square pizza really works for me. Sauce is nothing special, but their cheese blend and toppings are great. The only reason I don't give it a fifth star is that it's a total dive; however, that's part of the charm of the place. Also, they have a 80's vintage Ms. Pac Man that only takes $.25 while you're waiting for your food. Highly recommended. read more

It's a good old fashioned, no-nonsense, cheesesteak place. Not a lot of frills and maybe a bit dingy, but they serve up a pretty mean cheesesteak & fries like I always remembered getting in my youth. They even have sweet peppers as an option (haven't seen that since Jerry's Subs). Nice guys behind the counter and efficient. They do have the usual assortments of subs, sandwiches, sides, etc., but I'm generally there for the cheesesteaks. Kudos!! read more
