Finally got around to trying this place for brunch. I would say they do have a great atmosphere and that was probably one of the better sweet teas I have had since most of the time they are overly sweet but this one had a nice balance. I tried the chicken which they seem to really overhype- it is good just not fantastic. The sides were really good specifically the mac and cheese and the Brussels sprouts were not bad. None of the entrees really stand out to me, more like a grab an appetizer and drink kind of place.

Comfy vibes and really good food. Everything is served steaming hot and is well seasoned. The chicken and waffles are the star of the show here, but you can't really go wrong with any pick. Will definitely be back.

Not my favorite southern style restaurant, but the food was still good. It's a spacious restaurant with plenty of seating. We ordered: Biscuits for a cause 8/10 (blueberry & peach butter are amazing) Fried chicken 8/10 Mac & Cheese tasted like boxed 5/10 Omelette 7/10 Goat cheese grits 4/10 Overall, I probably wouldn't go back. However, I'd a friend suggested wanting to try it out I wouldn't be opposed. Like I said, it was alright

Southern taste up north???? You got it! Felt like we were on a road trip in Mississippi! Biscuits were good, but the blueberry compote made them great! Chicken and waffles were perfect! Chicken plobano soup was perfect! Fried Green tomatos perfect! The waiter and waitress took great care of us! Speed of service was a little limited, but nothing to be upset about. Loved the decor and modern southern vibes in this restaurant. Made us truly feel like we were in a southern kitchen. Don't forget to grab some missisippi mud pie!

Really enjoyed the brunch experience I had on a Sunday afternoon. Lawrence and Tory were awesome, very friendly, and attentive. The vibe of the restaurant is rustic and bright. We came during the holiday season, and the decorations were done very well. We ordered the fried green tomatoes, smothered chicken with Brussel sprouts and side Caesar, and the southwest omelette. For drinks we got the mimosa flight and brewed coffee. All the food was very good and came out quickly. Great portions and reasonable prices. Tory gave great recommendations, so if you come, ask to be in his section.

Tucked in the back of the Courthouse area of Arlington is Tupelo Honey - a love letter to the South. The ambiance is laden with mahogany and amber tones, creating a very warm and familiar environment. We ordered the sweet potato pancake, which was easily the star of the meal, and the chicken tenders, which were fine, if not a bit under-seasoned. The wait staff didn't check on us much, but it was slow evening so we weren't too bothered by that. I WILL be returning for the fantastic sweet potato pancake, that's for sure!

Tasty spot with killer menu. Service was super friendly and easy going. Brussel sprouts were yummy and unique. Chicken sandwich was overcooked as was the other chicken entree but flavors were on point.

Stumbled upon this gem for Brunch before returning to DC. Made a reservation for two at 10:30 AM EST before our 1:04 PM EST trian departure from Norfolk. We made it with plenty time. The food was excellent and the server was attentive. He made great suggestions! My friend ordered the peach, don't kill my vibe (small) and enjoyed it while I ordered the brunch punch (large) - also delicious. I ordered the sweet and spicy chicken and waffles which was phenomenal while my friend ordered the bourbon glazed peppercorn meatloaf (comes with two sides) with a side Caesar salad (no croutons add red onions) and macaroni and cheese - she had zero complaints about her meal. In fact, she ordered additional glaze for the meatloaf anticipating needing it and by the time it arrived she had finished her meal. I'm so happy I stumbled upon this and will make a point to return and try some other items.

Tucked away in the charming Courthouse area, Tupelo Honey is a chain serving up Southern-inspired classics with a modern twist. Its exterior features a modern brick façade, bold signage, and an inviting outdoor patio shaded by planters and umbrellas. Inside, there's a spacious with warm wood flooring, metal accents, and pops of blue and copper exuding a modern take on southern charm. There's backlit honey jars and local artwork, including paintings and rustic murals by Asheville and Arlington artists. At around 7pm on a Saturday, the restaurant was about half-full, and the atmosphere was buzzy but not overwhelming (just note that it closes at 9pm on weekends, which is quite early). Without a reservation, our party of four was immediately seated, and our server was more than happy to walk us through the menu, which ranges from scratch-made starters, salads, and sides to sandwiches to Southern-classic entrees! Everything here also seems fairly affordably priced (think $15-25 for an entree), especially for the area. We began with an order of their Fried Pickles ($9.95), which are briny pickles with a crispy outer coating, served with a rich and tangy buttermilk ranch. Fried pickles are hard to get right because the interior can often become oddly oil-soaked. While I think the pickles lost a lot of their flavor, the crispy exterior was lovely, and the buttermilk ranch was delicious. Three members of our party ordered their Buttermilk Fried Chicken Tenders ($15.95), which come with hand-breaded fried tenders sprinkled with 'bee dust', with honey dijonnaise, smoky chipotle bbq, and spicy 'bama firecracker dipping sauces, and the choice of one side - they have plenty of sides to choose from as well! All three that ordered the dish liked the crispy tenders with a great ratio of meat to crackly crust of breading, and the "bee dust" added an interesting textural contrast. The trio of sauces was also great to sample different flavor combinations with the chicken, which looked to be well-fried. For my entree, I opted for their Cast Iron Pork ($19.95), which comes with "slow-cooked pork shoulder in duck fat, sriracha honey glaze, pickled red onion, cilantro, and your choice of two sides." The pork shoulder was succulent and tender, coming out sizzling in a cast iron skillet, and the sriracha honey glaze, onions, and cilantro added a wonderful kick to pair with the rihness of the meat and duck fat. Additionally, my two sides were tasty and well-portioned - their Stone-Ground Goat Cheese Grits have the perfect thick texture and toothsome bite from the corn (though I think they could have more goat cheese), and the Braised Bacon Collards had a wonderful, deep smoky flavor with hunks of tender bacon. In summary, we really enjoyed our meal at Tupelo Honey - while it's a chain, it really doesn't feel like it: expect scratch-made Southern comfort food with an inventive edge that doesn't break the bank. Service is friendly, the food is comforting and rich (while not overly so), and the location is charming. It's a warm and stylish take on New South comfort food reimagined for the DMV crowd, and I can't wait to come back and sample some of their other options!

    Avocado Melt

I took my friends to this place for a last minute Saturday brunch and I love the location of Tupelo Honey. We got the fried okra to share which was amazing. The sauce that came with the okra was very flavorful. As my main dish, I ordered the avocado melt. I was pretty disappointed with the sandwich. It was tasteless and the cheese wasn't melted enough to be considered a "melt" in my opinion. I also think the choice of cheese didn't taste good with the lack of taste from the avocado but the extreme spice from the red onion. That being said, i think this restaurant still deserves a 4 star because I tried my friend's omelette and that tasted amazing. I think I lucked out with the item I chose which was disappointing - as someone who doesn't eat eggs regularly and doesn't enjoy a sweet breakfast, the only option I had was the avocado sandwich so I'm not sure if I'd be back.

This was my 2nd time dining at this location; the first time we dined in and this time was takeout. The food was pretty good, just finished a 19-day fast and didn't want my BOGO coupon to expire, and the fried chicken hit the spot (had a little unexpected spiciness but it was good)! Loved the biscuits with the peach jam, grits, and brussels sprouts!! The banana pudding was definitely a big regret!! It looked like oatmeal, should've left it there when I was there!! It didn't look very appealing and the taste was just as bad!! The bananas were quite ripe, so the taste was a little off. Then the pudding was kinda soupy and very sweet. I make banana pudding for all of our family events, so I know what it should look like and how it should taste, this wasn't it!!

Mother's Day brunch We had a reservation but it was pretty light & steady before the church crowd. Nice vibe, casual dining with great music. The hostess seemed a bit disheveled - in appearance & attitude - seemed like she rolled out of bed and was doing her best to make it through the day but that set the tone for our experience. Our server Jose did his best but it was a little slow for how many tables he did have. We ordered a Peach Bellini and mimosa flight as a toast. Our meals - Brussels sprouts were delicious and crispy, surf & turf was over cooked - everything was too crispy & tough, blackened mahi was delicious, Mac & cheese was cold and therefore the cheese wasn't melted so it tasted like noodles & cheese, braised collards were decent but cold as well, and the house salad with chicken was standard. Between the service and cold food, this was underwhelming especially for Mother's Day but Mama was not impressed! I'm not writing it off because I can taste the potential but maybe I'll have to try again when it's not a special occasion

My cousin, Uncle and I went to Tupelo's for dinner?!? It was after 4pm so... We didn't have a reservation, just walked up. We were seated immediately. The waitress handed us our nenus and gave us ample time to peruse them. We ordered: Cereal Milk Martini -- a sip of pure nostalgia -- creamy oat milk, rumhaven coconut water rum, kamora coffee liqueur, and vanilla. Topped with rainbow cereal marshmallows Tupelo Shrimp and Grits (GF) -- Sustainably, wild-caught white gulf shrimp, chorizo pork sausage, peperonata, creole sauce, scallions, heirloom grits with goat cheese Whiskey and Onion Smash Burger -- Two quarter pound beef patties, creamy whiskey & onion gravy, cheddar, house-made pickles, potato bun Classic Chicken & Waffles -- Honey-Dusted Fried Chicken, Buttermilk Waffles, Powdered Sugar, Whipped Butter My cousin loved the Tupelo Shrimp and Grits. She said it was tasty and flavorful. My Uncle loved his Whiskey and Onion Smash Burger. My Classic Chicken and Waffles were delicious. I just wish it came with more butter and syrup. I had to request more butter. All in all the meal was great. The servers were friendly and attentive. We even met the cook!! A nice lunch|dinner atmosphere. The restaurant was not packed, but you could tell it was going to be bustling with customers soon. My cousin and I said we'd be back to try different menu items soon.

Amazing how many things you can smoke. Now, drinks and food. Nothing liked a smoking whiskey cocktail, people sitting next to you will stare in envy (as well they should). When we made the reservation in advance, we called to ask if happy hour was everywhere or just at the bar; they said everywhere, so we booked a table. Plot twist, it's only at the bar / downstairs :))) We arrived 15 minutes early, so while they got our table ready, we ordered at the bar. 5 stars for the bartender. If I could review her, the host, and the happy hour prices in isolation, I would! They moved us upstairs, we sat down, and immediately saw the menus were different. We asked the gentleman bringing waters about happy hour and he sent the waiter over. The waiter, with about 2% helpfulness, shared that happy hour is only downstairs. I mentioned that we had called in advance to ask. We asked if it would be possible to have that menu or perhaps move. The conversation felt like pulling teeth. He said, with much dismissiveness, it was up to the host downstairs to move and if they had availability and left. (Fair, we move, he doesn't get his tip. An alternative? Give us the happy hour menu, still get your tip. Better yet, just be slightly helpful?) The host downstairs found us a table but shared it was booked at 6:15 so we needed to be in and out. It was no problem because we had arrived before 5 (early, remember?). Although, it took 15 minutes (I timed it!) for anyone to come bring waters or address us as their table. A little hard to operate with urgency when no one takes your order!! I got up, told the host stand, and they sent a server over, and he proceeded to come back all of three times. We also had to flag him down to get our check, while we sat with empty waters that were never once refilled. We had pizza, cod sliders, and half orders of aglio e olio pasta. The cod sliders were more breadding than fish, but the flavor was decent. The pasta was delicious. No five star Italian meal, but it hit the spot and the portion was plentiful. I didn't try the pizza but it was 12 inches, piping hot, and the two eating it couldn't finish it. The food came out quickly and hot. I think we spent under or just about $100 for four folks to have dinner + drinks, so the prices are really solid. Perhaps you get what you pay for though? Both of our male servers seemed annoyed to be dealing with us and mostly unhelpful. Noteworthy mention: there was a female server who was kind enough to bring us a brown paper bag for our to go box. She was running around and her tables seemed well cared for. Disappointed in my experience and the customer service.
