I cannot even describe how much I loved it here. The setup is amazing. The atmosphere is out of this world. Kid & dog friendly. Went for my first time yesterday and I will definitely be back. Decided to start with a drink at the bar. Sarah was our waitress and an attentive one at that. We weren't sure what to get... she had us describe our likes & dislikes and she whipped up some magic. My tastebuds were pleasantly surprised! Others saw our drinks and ordered them. They loved them too. Thx Sarah! Now onto food BXQ BBQ is where I decided to eat and OMG! Noms galore! I got the catfish sandwich. Can I stop to say I am very picky about my catfish and I know from my past I do not like it in a sandwich. Nor do I like coleslaw. This is a great, relatively new, hangout spot on 4th ave. The concept is really great, where you have multiple food businesses housed in repurposed shipping containers, with many tables scattered around the venue. There's mostly a food option for everyone, but probably more limited for vegan options, based on the menu items I saw. It can get busy on weekend nights, like most placed, so sometimes you'll be standing around. There are two main locations for getting drinks, one in the front, and one in the back. The various food establishments have non-alcoholic drink options. Most of their menus are attached to the window, so it's a little tricky figuring out what you want to order until you are right at the window. The only thing I wish they had was some different yard games. Because of the large spacious area, it would be nice to have some designated game areas with things like corn hole or shuffleboard. This is a really cool spot in Tucson tucked away in an alley. There are old box cars essentially and they house a few food spots and a bar. The bartender was really friendly, drinks were made well and fast. Prices were very reasonable. We had vegetables and hummus as well as truffle fries from one of the food stands. Oh, I went here late at night to see what I could find to eat. When I got here, I ended up getting a veggie dog. This was the worst thing I've ever put in my mouth. The texture was off and left an extremely bad aftertaste in my mouth. I'd rather have been hungry than waste my money. I don't even know what to tell you to do to fix it, maybe scrap that dog and try another one. However, I must admit that the rest of the menu looked quite promising. Perhaps their other options would be more satisfying. Maybe I should have opted for a different item altogether. I'll have to give this place another chance and try something else next time. Wanted a late night drink near a friend's home so we tried this place out. I love all the variety of choices for eating and that you have food and drink options til 2 am. They have a good selectiin of mixed drinks. Prices weren't bad. Service was great. The bartender was very friendly and helpful, making suggestions. The staff checked on us after we took our seats, as well. They even offered to bring the heat lamp closer to us. This is similar to a food court. So, it's a great option for a group with varying tastes. I liked it so much I'm bringing friends back this Friday night. I took a trip out to AZ for work and on the flight, at the hotel and while stopping in a place for happy hour, I was told to go to The Boxyard for dinner. It was reasonably "walkable" from my hotel and very happy I made the trek! I was initially skeptical on my approach to the entrance, but quickly realized it was nice for an outdoor, open seating venue, with a full bar! There are connex boxes (like you see on freighter ships), decoratively painted bright colors and laid out to create a perimeter and a courtyard area, which had misting fans and "family style" seating. Each box houses different restaurant vendors, kinda like a stationary food truck rodeo. Don't let me forget the food! Y'all, I had a BACON wrapped burrito and not only was that a first for me, it was fantastic as you might imagine! My internal southern fat kid was happy and excited and not disappointed! Food was prepared quickly and the pager system to let you know the food is ready is pretty convenient. Fun place and would definitely go back! read more

I REALLY wish I could leave an adequate review for each and every food place at the Boxyard but unfortunately, every time we have tried to eat there, specifically to try one place or another, they are closed. We decided to try Percherones on Friday Eve, but when we found a place to park and walked there, it was closed. We would have stayed and tried another place, but they were all closed. Every single place, on a Friday, closed, except for the bar. Great business model. This place was super unique. Came here while visiting friends in Tucson. I really enjoyed the atmosphere, the cornhole, the bar and all the eatery options. I didn't have any coffee, but my friends went back to the coffee place twice because they liked it so much. Each structure is a shipping container and in the middle is a courtyard where you can play corn hole, sit with friends, drink and eat. Food seemed to range from burritos, Indian, Mexican to breakfast calzones. And they had plenty of cool drinks to check out - we enjoyed our green tea shots. There's also some really cool street art on the boxes themselves and on the walls by some of the tables. I recommend checking those out. It's also dog friendly, and places that are always score more points in my book. I went on a Sunday afternoon so it was calm - still had people - but I can envision this place getting really busy on Friday/Saturday evenings. read more

Awesome food truck style place, every business is in a box container. There's a bar and lots of different food. We had drinks, a ruby slipper for my daughter and a 3 dollar Estrella Jalisco beer for me. I had a veggie sanoran dog with Avocado tomato mushrooms and crema. Delicious. I was really excited about this concept but I was so let down when I went. First off, having the menus on the containers makes it hard to look and wait in line. There needs to be a universal menu board near the entrance or bar, showing what is available. The Indian food was hardly notice because it was away from the bar and the menu was on the container. Next, for 6 PM the music was way too loud! It was like some dance club at 2 AM. I could hardly hear my friend. I get at night, when people go out to party you want that kind of atmosphere but the sun was still up and it was not relaxing. Another annoyance was the girl's bathroom. I appreciate the purse hooks but shelves are needed too in the stalls! Some of us carry stuff in our pockets and there was nowhere to put my phone or stuff in my pocket. It's details like this that make a place feel rushed and not thought out. My final frustration was the bar. There was no designated slot for people getting drinks and going elsewhere. If there was people were standing in the way. It made it impossible to get a drink without shoving myself between people. I appreciated the misters, I enjoyed all the shade and seating but for the reasons listed above I hesitate to come back. read more

Neat place. Had a peach mule and it was yum! My husband got a couple slices of pizza from Sal's and I got the chopped salad. My salad was really good and large, however, my husband's pizza just okay. It is a pretty good size, but the crust is not good. It was soggy. I'm addition, the guy who took our order (assuming it was Sal) was not friendly at all. Went there for lunch and have to have the bacon wrapped burrito. A great variety of burritos to try. Their signature sauce is a great add to your burrito choice. The menu has good options with Sonoran hot dogs, tacos, quesadillas and everyone's favorite - fries. Load them fires up with cheese, bacon, steak, Al pastor, chicken or even takis or hot Cheetos. They even have onion rings and wings.... Had it not been lunch I would have enjoyed a cold frosty drink from the bar just off to the side. This is one of my go-tos in Tucson! The Boxyard is in the midst of the 4th Ave neighborhood where things are always bustling and is a great stop for food/drink between your 4th Ave and Congress adventures. The open-air concept with multiple and varied food vendors in shipping containers makes for a great place to meet up with some friends, or just get great food/drink especially during COVID times.
