I finally checked out this low-key downtown bar I've been wanting to try, and it was great! The bartender was an absolute gem and pointed me to the cocktails for my palate. I tried Met Your Matcha, which was yummy but had a bit of a chalky aftertaste (kind of expected with matcha). I also tried Desert Rose, which was citrusy and good. The vibe was intimate but still had plenty of space to feel comfortable. My only complaint is the food menu. They only serve tots and bar snacks (nuts). read more

I want to love the Royal Room because I enjoy the atmosphere and location, but unfortunately it's not somewhere I'm likely to return to due to the service. One of the bartenders is abrasive, and my friend and I felt uncomfortable after our interactions with her. We weren't greeted when we came in and menus weren't out, so I asked for a cocktail menu. I saw an interesting cocktail on it called Milk Drink, and the only written description was "Christmas in a cup," so I asked her what it is. Her only response was a deadpan "it's a cocktail." It felt very condescending. Our other interactions with her were similarly awkward and short. I appreciate the happy hour here and the selection of cans you can take home, but the service was unwelcoming and seems to be a common issue based on other recent reviews. read more

i went recently and the bartender was extremely rude ,it was my first time and will be my last .The bar is very nice but the bartender lacks customer service etiquette. We came here on Saturday night and tried 2 drinks on their cocktail list. The top hat and the Penicillin. We disliked both. They were nice and traded them. I got a Tom Collins and he got a beer next. Would never recommend this place nor will I ever return again. Randomly found this place while visiting + stopped in at 9p on a Sunday evening (Super Bowl). They weren't playing the gamw which I did love (watching football is so overrated imo) but anywho... as soon as my friend + I walked in the server (young lady with a slicked back bun) immediately states "we close in 1 hour"... we responded "great, we're only here for one drink." However, I am an extremely observant + highly intuitive being so of course I noticed she didn't tell not one other customer that walked in AFTER us that they close in less than hour at this point. Noted. We receive our check which was on a paperback book-- thought that was neat but after leaving I realized the bartender never returned my debit card. I am so good w| not losing my things + was bummed they were already closed for the night when I noticed. I thought "no big deal, I'll call tomorrow." I have a friend that visits Tucson often so we agreed she'd pick it up for me when in town that week. I try calling The Royal Room that ENTIRE week + even left a voicemail asking for something to please return my phone call but they NEVER did. I innerstand that not realizing I didn't have my debit card before leaving that night is entirely on me + the bartender not giving it back but the fact that not one person answered the phone nor returned my phone call speaks volume on in regards to the staff/establishment. For that reason I'd never ever recommend this place because they really just blew me off as a customer who was so happy to visit + tell her friends about it but nope! They dropped the ball big time! Came in on a Saturday night to have a cocktail before dinner at Anello. This is such a cool vibe, unassuming, cozy, killer drinks and great prices. My friend had a cosmo and I had a Paloma. I tried my friends drink and it was sooooo good and I normally do to like cosmos. She said it may have been the best cosmo she has ever had - making me thirst thinking about it. Before COVID-19 was even a "thing", I had visited The Royal Room a couple of times and liked it. The interior is very funky, kind of retro and eclectic. It's dimly lit inside which sets a mood. The cocktails I had were always unique... I remember one that had a component with jasmine in it which I absolutely loved. Overall, I enjoyed coming here for craft cocktails and to chat with friends in a low key but fun setting. After COVID-19, The Royal Room was one of the first places I found that was serving cocktails to go. Though I had only been a handful of times, I decided to give them a shot. To be honest I'm glad I did because The Royal Room has quickly become one of my favorite bars in town!! Their in-house margaritas are some of the best in town. No overly sweet syrups or cheap tequila, just a perfect Marg with a punch!!! Their floradoras also quickly became a favorite in my home, with it's sweet but tart flavor. Royal Room also sells some food, though I've never tried it. Another reason I became such a fan of the Royal Room post-pandemic was because of how supportive they are of their local community. They are outspoken on issues that matter to me and are always promoting other businesses in the area. Though they are not on 4th avenue, having that community spirit is what makes the 4th avenue area so special to Tucson. The Royal Room fits right in. Rudest bartender I've ever encountered. Short girl with brown hair and a Budweiser t-shirt. She seemed mad my fiancé and I came in for a drink. Sorry for bothering you with our patronage. Two guys came in and kept calling her "ma'am" sincerely out of respect, and she kept correcting them, saying it was "miss". The second or third time they did it, again, on accident, she said, "I'm not going to tell you again." Was she implying she was going to kick them out for calling her "ma'am"??? They also mistakenly opened a can, as bartenders need to, and she told them that was "illegal" with the same type of tone as if they had just shanked someone. We finished our one drink as quick as possible and left. Word to this bartender: you work in the service industry. Maybe you had a bad day but that is no excuse to treat people like utter garbage. Went here on the recommendation of a friend because of their meat and cheese board (I'm a sucker for charcuterie). Mistake one was coming on trivia night (don't get me wrong, I love a good trivia night, but that wasn't the vibe we were going for that night). I was disappointed to find (unlike I was expecting) you could get a meat board, or a cheese board, but had no control over what was on them, and if you wanted meat and cheese you had to order two boards! It was fine, but since we weren't playing trivia, we were relegated to the side room. The wine and beer selection looked good, but didn't partake. Beers as low as $2 and wines selections as low a $5. Cheese boards are fantastic. Fresh and full of flavor. They have several selections to choose from and no matter the choice you will be happy with it. They also have a couple of panini sandwiches that go great with the beverage of your choice. A definite place for a nice date night or if you want to hang with friends. The also have a nice board game selection that will keep you entertained for hours. I love the Royal Room and have only grown to appreciate it more since the pandemic started. This is one of only a very few places that I consider safe to enjoy indoors. The owner has strict seating arrangements and everything is very clean. Aside from that it is a comfortable place to hang out at and even better their drinks are awesome! They have a few rotating beers on tap and a large fridge of a wide variety of canned beers. They also change up their cocktail menu but I tend to stick to their old fashioned because it's so good. I'm not sure if it's fair to write a review since they don't even officially open until tomorrow... but the other night when I was walking past this corner I noticed people were inside so I thought maybe they quietly opened and didn't tell anyone. My husband and I walked in the door to a packed house with a great vibe. We headed for the bar and were greeted promptly, and told it was their soft opening (friends and family night). We apologized for just walking in and asked if it was ok to stay, and the wonderful bartender laughed and said OF COURSE we can stay! We ordered some wine and took a look around. The space is BEAUTIFUL. Royal, but not pretentious or over-gilded. The drink selection looks great, and not overwhelming. The food menu is small and carefully thought-out: sandwiches and bruschetta. Lighter eats for when you want to drink and graze. Overall I am excited to stop back in after they open up this week. This wine and beer bar is a wonderful addition to the downtown area! I love that there is expansion happening surrounding the downtown area, and the warehouse arts district is the perfect place. The atmosphere of this bar is relaxed, but cozy. The decor is very cute, playing towards the mid-century vibe, which I am a big fan of. You are able to order beer on tap and wine, but they also have a fridge stocked with packaged beer as well if draft isn't your jam. There is a small selection of food, including sandwiches, salad, bruschetta, and build-your-own cheese and meat boards. I ordered the meat bruschetta and some meats and cheese, and it definitely did not disappoint. The caramelized onions were amazing, as was the bruschetta. We stopped for a quick happy hour drink while waiting for a dinner reservation nearby. The bartender was super nice, and greeted us quickly. They had a great selection of beer, wine, and mixed drinks. I opted for the sangria, which was OK at best, so I switched to a glass of house white wine, which was also just OK. My husband ordered two mixed drinks that he said were good, but he wasn't in love with. The space is super cute, the stained glass windows give it a nice charm, but it was extremely heavy on incense, which ended up chasing outside to the patio. The patio was in a sort of awkward spot, with uncomfortable furniture, and smokers. We would have stayed longer and tried some other offerings and possibly an appetizer, but between the smokers and the incense we were chased away unfortunately. read more

We met friends here last and absolutely loved it. I loved the wines on tap, I couldn't get enough of the bruschetta, and we loved the create your own charcuterie board. There were great options, such as the marcona almonds, figs, several great cheese and meat options, olives and more, between the two us this filled us up! The people giving bad reviews to this place are idiots that don't get it. Royal Room is a great, low-key spot that's definitely worth the walk over from 4th Ave. They have jello shots, decent drinks, a cool setup, basic snacks, and plenty of seating. I also appreciate that they are doing DJ nights and other creative stuff. COVID was hard on downtown Tucson and robbed it of the vibrance it once had. I went here to enjoy Bachelor Monday for the show the bachelor. It's cool because I haven't heard of any others bars showing the Bachelor on Monday's. They have nice booths that are comfy enough since the show is two hours. They have five dollar house wine, I had the white which was good. They also had a special Bachelor cocktail, I didn't try it, but thought it was cool they had it. The staff were all friendly and it wasn't busy. Ok so let me just put this out there now, I was fairly intoxicated when I went to the royal room so maybe this isn't a valid review. However, I came here between bands at 191 to grab a drink and let my ears rest. Their drinks were...interesting and the environment was dim lit and a nice place to just hangout. The bathrooms were very confusing to me at the time because they had numbers on them, which now I realize that they were gender neutral. I would describe the Royal Room as very hipster chic, catering to the new downtown Tucson demographic. Their wine selection is composed of primarily small vintage or indie wines. I will say this, their staff are very knowledgeable about the wines on hand and steered us to some good choices. The prices on some of the items are a little high, but that seems to be pretty typical of the downtown offerings. Royal Room has limited street and lot parking (Lyft or Uber are a good idea). Service is walk-up to the bar. Overall, it is a good place to meet with friends after work for happy hour, or before going to dinner. read more

Loved this place. I originally thought this was just a nice chill wine bar. I love wine but I like options and and i like cocktails too. We went in just honestly to have a look at the place. The place is beautiful specially the mock living room they have. Once we went in we sat at the bar and saw that they had a complete bar with a.nice cocktail menu. The other surprise was that they had a decent selection of beer and food. The drinks were amazing , the mood was very laid back and the people there were all having a good time talking to each other at the bar and made for a nice time. They also have a happy hour menu and that's awesome because you get their drinks for good a price and some munchies for cheap.
