This place is one of the best places for crawfish that I have had so far in Dallas. Everything from the decor to the service was perfect. We had some starters and crawfish and everything tasted incredible. The red beans and rice had too much bay leaf for my taste but it was still delicious. First off, my server Hampton was superb! He was very attentive and sharp. However, I believe my meal could of been more enjoyable. The shrimp and potatoes were so bland. I had to ask for salt to season them up a little. I was not fond of the sauce because it was so bland. Tasted like mush and the look of the sauce was unappealing. I was shocked that the potatoes were undercooked, and that was a disappointment. Whoever cooked those potatoes needs to take a dummie lesson on how to boil potatoes. When you boil shrimp and potatoes, they are supposed to have some hint of salty flavor. However, the crab legs had some salty flavor and were delish. However, my daughter practically begged me to get her some crawfish and I gave in because I do believe in second chances. Well... I should've stood my ground because it didn't get any better. I was given a bag of sauce, 8 shrimp, and two limes slices in place of a pound of shrimp! My daughter went to get the food so I was not aware of the shortage until after the fact. Now either the scale is broke or someone needs a lesson in weighing good, either way, I'm so disappointed. The waiting list is a disaster-- if you come with a party bigger than 4 be prepared to see people coming in after you to be seated before you. From Houston to Dallas for the weekend with the family. We always try new places and today was the boiling crab .. I would definitely recommend if you love seafood how I love seafood! It was 4 of us and we all tried different sides as in we had Live crawfish- lemon pepper , the whole Shabang & Cajun ( everyone had these diff flavors ) , soft shell crab with Cajun fries , the catfish platter with fries , & the fried shrimp platter! We added potato's , boiled eggs and sausage link all of which were very flavorful , seasoned well. Crawfish was big and Juicy the catfish platter was pretty good , fries were hot , potatoes was good and soaked with flavor ! Just to sum it up if I lived here I'd visit this place often !! Still stopping by every chance that I get. I love the fish basket and their tartar sauce is the next best thing to Red Lobster. Everyone can't make good tartar sauce. The past couple of times we have visited they have not had any utensils for crab legs. They gave us a plastic knife!!! Sorry, but WTH is a platic knife going to do against a hard shell crab leg. When we placed our order, it would've been a courteous gesture to let us know no utensils available. So we would not have ordered crab and just shrimp. Also, the reason for no utensils was because someone in their staff threw the entire bucket of utensils that was waiting to get washed in the trash. It's beyond me how the manager, owner think this is ok. Long story short, since new management took over, this place is slowly losing its appeal. The boiling pots is definitely a good alternative to the boiling crab. My mom and I came here at lunch and there was literally no wait. I highly recommend coming here during this time because the service is super fast. We ordered the catfish basket and the crab and shrimp combo basket. First of all, the catfish was amazing because it was only $10.99 for 3 large filets, 3 hushpuppies and a side of Cajun fries. The catfish is very crispy and juicy. In addition, it had a golden brown color and was seasoned to perfection. In regards to the crab and shrimp combo basket (slightly overpriced), I recommend getting it with the hot level sauce because it provides just the right amount of kick and spice. This came with 1 pound of crab, half a pound of shrimp and a bunch of potatoes. The flavor of the hot sauce infused nicely with the seafood and I highly recommend trying out this restaurant. But as I was eating the "Hot" pound of shrimp I came to the realization that I am always thinking of boiling crab and comparing their sauce to everybody sauce. I truly believe I could not get that taste anywhere else but THERE. So back to boiling spot 3 of the stars I gave was for the shrimp and the seasoning. Was it nasty?? No. Was it durable? Yes on a scale of 1 to 10 the level of the hot was like a rough 5 not to hot at all. If you like hot food I am guessing you should get XTRA HOT. The other star was for customer service the young at the register was very patience and accommodating. I really appreciate her. (smile) Thanks Boiling Spot. Oh I paid $15.15 for the pound. This somewhat hidden spot in Plano is almost a hidden gem. Behind the banality of the strip mall, in which it resides, lies a charming spot decked out like a beach shack that boasts some pretty damn good seafood. The service was spot on: prompt, informative, and polite. But what I think I really enjoyed was the music playlist - popular, but soothing tunes that really put you in the happy mood as if you really are in a happy place off the coast of somewhere wonderful. The menu is short and sweet, but provides all the best kind of boiled shell fish, like crab, crawfish, shrimp, and mussels. There are three levels of spice mild, medium, and hot. Whether your affinity for spice is weak or strong, this restaurant has got the seafood for you. I landed on the snow crab with no spice, but lemon butter instead and each bite was better than the one before. Cracking the legs open yourself made the food taste that much better and the experience that much more fun. The fries and hush puppies were some of the best I've had, but that could have been due to the ridiculously delicious tartar sauce served with the hush puppies. My husband and I love Cajun sea food and have been to several places and this has been by far the best seafood Cajun place. We ordered gumbo for $6.99 and it was enough to share. We ordered a pound of snow crab , a pound of sausage and corn on medium spicy. My husband asked for gloves, which I laughed at first but by the end of the meal I was glad he had asked. The food took longer than I expected but gosh it was worth the wait, they definitely take their time to do an amazing boil, it's obviously not premade and it is full of flavor and definitely spicy. After I posted a review about a bad Valentines Day experience here, the owner Sunny personally messaged me to apologize for the poor service I received. I decided to give the restaurant another chance after his sincere apology. And boy, was I surprised!! They have a new system to enter the orders and send them to the kitchen that ensures each order at the table comes in it's own bag. Also, they have several new servers that were friendly and relaxed. I ordered a pound of crawfish, a pound of snow crab, and corn and potatoes. The seasoning! Ooooweee!! It was perfect. I think the addition of the lime in the seasoning bag added the right amount of tanginess. Sunny, was super sweet ,and overall, I was pleasantly surprised when I went back. It was my first time to this restaurant and I probably won't go again. First there was a sign on the door that they were out of crawfish which was the initial attraction to this restaurant. Then upon entering we were seated immediately and offered a beverage which was nice. We placed our order which the kitchen got wrong but was still acceptable. The issue which decreased my review down to 2 stars was the fact that not only did you have to pull the heads off the boiled shrimp they also were not deveined. So I asked for a knife and proceeded with my plastic knife to personally clean each shrimp prior to eating. I don't eat shrimp poop. Do yourself a favor and get some crab legs! There was nothing mediocre about the meal my husband and I just ate. It was fantastic from start to finish. We got the hot crab legs, gumbo, mozzarella sticks, and chicken wings. I have to be honest, we didn't even get to the other food for a while because we were stuck on the crab legs. We agreed they were absolutely the best we've ever had (and we've eaten them in Maryland before - these were better). You need a towel to sop up all the flavor the chef puts on them. Fantastic! We will be back again and again. The gumbo was delicious as well. The chicken wings were adequate - I needed more sauce. Yay! Tried this place out the same day I heard about it and it was wonderful! Crab legs for $13.99/lb at the time of this writing. We ordered two pounds, cajun fries, and 1/2 lb of sausage ($8/lb). The crab legs and fries came out, but the waitress had forgotten our sausage, so the owner apologized and said he would cook us 1 lb instead. Very comparable great taste to Boiling Crab. They included a lot of chunks of garlic which I love, but their garlic had a kick to it. I don't know what it was, but it was spicy. They also add slices of lime in their sauce, though I couldn't distinctly taste any. The Cajun fries were crispy and yummy. The sausage was regular sausage in the same sauce as the crab legs. I probably could have done without them, but the boyfriend liked them. The owner came out to check on us a few times and really seemed to care that we were taken care of. They do need to work out some kinks in their wait staff, but I'll definitely be coming back with the coupons they gave us for their Grand Opening. read more

One time I brought my whole family who was visiting from out of town and the waitress who was apparently the manager at the time forgot two of the orders then got an attitude and did not apologize for HER mistake. Those two family members ended up not eating due to that. Also, every once in awhile I'll place a to go order and decide when I get there that I would like to eat there because I'm starving and they REFUSE to let you eat there if you place a to go order. Shouldn't matter if your paying for it whether you decide to eat there or not. Just rude service period. Sunny....I will never come back to your establishment. Get it together. This is my second review. So I have been there twice in a week. It was better the 2nd time around. Spoke to the owner and he is going to offer a mild sauce for the less spicy foodies! He is in the kitchen being a mad chef to formulating the perfect balance of flavors. In addition, he reads the reviews and is Extremely Nice!!! Crawfish is seasonal. So if you are looking for crawfish, you will have to wait a few more weeks. The Sauce is thick, tasty and amazing! It coats the Snow Crab perfectly. It's crawfish season and I have been craving some of the mudbugs lately. We came here on a Monday night and was seated immediately. The Boiling Pots is very casual with one large room with tables spread throughout. They also have a private dining room you might be able to book for special occasions. TVs line the walls along with nautical decor. I checked out the menu and saw they had crawfish for $7.99 a pound, not too bad. We ordered 2 pounds of crawfish. I also wanted shrimp, and they had a special shrimp combo with 1 pound of boiled shrimp with potatoes and corn for $15.49. I ordered that as well. The server puts in our order and comes back with plastic bibs which she puts on us. Don't be too proud to wear the bib! It is much needed with all the cajun garlic sauce that will be flying around once you get to eating. The food comes out in plastic bags which you can dump on the paper tablecloth and share with your neighbor or keep in there to eat out of it. The crawfish were not that big but they were cooked well. Nice color to the meat so you knew they had the flavor of that sauce. I got the medium sauce for both items and it was about as spicy as I could take with seafood. The shrimp were huge! They have the heads still on them so don't be afraid to have some eyes staring at you as you eat. Once you took off the head most had almost two inches of meat. Corn was great, I was sad it only came with one piece. Potatoes were cooked perfectly as well. I checked in on Yelp and got 10% off with no issues from our server. Comparing this to Shell Shack, the Kitchen Sink sauce at Shell Shack is better. The sauce here has a little too much garlic to me--you can get large clove pieces mixed up in your food. But The Boiling Pots wins with the price and quantity of food you get, Service is great too. You should go! read more

This past Thursday, after not being able to find parking for a popular BBQ establishment in downtown Plano, The Boiling Pots caught my eye on my way home. The place has a open layout with several TV going and music in the background, my kind of place I decided to try the shrimp combo medium adding on a 1/2 pound of sausage. 20 minutes later, wham a big bag filled with steaming hot Shrimp, 3 potatoes, 1 corn and sausage coated in spicy sauce. I asked for the mild sauce and it had a kick, which is OK by me but others may have to forgo the sauce, I love spice and this sauce was on the money. They served jumbo shrimp, head and shell still attached, which meant I had work to do in order get my bounty and it was worth it. The gumbo had chunks of crabshell, crabmeat and shrimp and a few pieces of okra (yum), flavor wise it was a little to mild d for me added some hot sauce. You can tell that the restaurant is new and need to focus on getting good help up front and speeding up the kitchen. 2 parties had walked out while I was there, I heard a server tell one of the parties that their food would be another 20 minutes after they had been waiting 20 minutes. Geez bring them a cracker or something, you have to keep the folks in the house. This has been my favorite of these types of restaurants. The prices are on average with most but the quality and service are what puts The Boiling Pots above the rest. The crawfish are bigger and more flavorful than others I have had this year. Seasonings for Snow Crab legs were wonderful. Server Louis was spot on with us. Gave great recommendation for the combo platter as well as steering me towards the mild seasonings for the crab and crawfish. Also, what might be my biggest compliment is that Louis was attentive to my iced tea. Nothing bothers me more than an empty glass of tea. Everytime he came by our table to check on us he always asked about our drinks. The tea comes in styrofoam cups so they can't automatically see if they need refilling. Went with some friends on a weekday. The service is slow, but the food comes out pretty quickly once it's placed. However, the flavor is lacking. It's March which is the beginning of crawfish season, but the size of the crawfish here is ridiculously small. We went to another crawfish place afterwards, and the size was much bigger/average! The snow crab legs were also of the frozen kind and you can definitely tell. This place isn't kid friendly in that there is no kid menu and no high chairs. My little one is too small to sit on his own in a regular chair, so I had to hold him during my entire meal. Holding a child while eating crawfish is no bueno. There is fried catfish, and it seemed to be the only kid meal I saw many families ordering. The cajun fries were mediocre in flavor, but was fried well. Nice and crispy! read more

My first visit was yesterday with a neighbor/friend. I had also heard from co-workers how wonderful this place is, but for some reason, I hadn't gone to find out for myself...until now. I visited on a Sunday and was quickly greeted by a waitress. After looking over the menu, I opted for the shrimp combo. NOTE: At this particular establishment, you eat everything on the menu with your hands; so if you do not like to break crab legs and/or peel and eat shrimp with your hands and prefer silverware, then this place is NOT for you. Now here is the fun part: they put a sheet over the entire table; it kinda reminds me of wax paper. They also tie a bib to you...looks kinda childish in my opinion, but yet fun at the same time. Anyway, when the food comes out, it comes out in a bag that inside of a bucket. The bag is removed and dumped onto the table and I dive in. The shrimp, corn on cob, and potatoes are delicious!!! I felt like my hands began to get tired after peeling shrimp for a while, but I quickly got over that. Overall, the food is absolutely delicious, fresh and the place is just overall fun!
