After visiting arches national park we chose to eat here as we were staying at the la Quinta right next door. They did not disappoint! We got seated right away, no wait. Our waitress was great! I believe her name was Shannon? She talked to our baby and made her smile multiple times. Beer was good! Food came out fairly quickly! I went with my family, who is a large group comprised mostly of teenagers, and was pleasantly surprised by how well our group's size was accommodated. We were seated at a big enough table, and the waitress didn't make any mistakes even with the size of our order. Our waitress, a lovely woman named Sarah, was extremely polite and accommodating, and the service was fenominal. We all got our food, drinks, desserts, and refills in a timely manner, and everything was delicious and exceded expectations. You really can't miss this place is you drive all the way through Moab - blue neon sign, pig on it. We had to try it. We love BBQ! Went in a little after the dinner rush and they gave us the option to sit in the bar or the dining section. The bar had live music so we definitely chose to sit there. The musician there that night was fantastic so it's worth it to try it out. Staff was very friendly and helpful in giving us what they thought were the best options on the menu. Burnt ends, brisket, pulled pork to name a few. We ordered the Hush Puppies - definitely a must try! The seasoning is perfection. I ordered the brisket plate and it was delicious but a little cold (to my disappointment). The cheesy potatoes were cold too. The only thing that was warm was the green beans. Everything tasted good though! The boyfriend ordered a platter and experience similar coldness of the meat as well. Not sure if our waiter just forgot about us for a couple minutes and it just sat around but it was kind of a bummer (though we reheated the leftovers and it was amazing!). After a very long day exploring Arches National Park, what better meal to enjoy than some good ol' BBQ? I was a little worried about the quality after reading reviews on Yelp, but I'm very glad I gave The Blu Pig a chance. I'm usually not a fan of the bread baskets etc. to begin the meal, but the cornbread muffins were really some of the best I've had. They were even nice enough to give us a bunch AFTER our meal to take home! My friend and I split a full rack of baby back ribs with 2 sides (Okra and Hasbrown Casserole). To be honest, I can't really speak to how good the sides were because we were overwhlemed by the enomity of the ribs. They were absolutely delicious. They have three types of sauces on the table, I forget what the others were, but I am biased towards the spicy one. Live music, good service, good atmosphere, great bbq, I am very thankful that there exists a great place in Moab to relax, have a great meal and a great time. read more

Mediocre-to-awful food. Like most weary travelers in Moab, my family and I had thousand-yard-stares and desperately wanted something substantial to eat after a long day of hiking. This place seemed to fit the bill. Unfortunately, I was disappointed with almost all 9 items that we got... except for the corn muffins w/cinnamon butter. Those were heavenly! The meats (brisket, pulled pork, hot links, and wings) weren't up to par with an average BBQ place's in terms of flavor. I thought the brisket's lack of flavor would benefit from adding one of their three table-side sauces but... no. Those weren't good either. I don't remember what one of the sauces was called, but it was incredibly vinegar-y and off-putting. The sides were worse than the meats. The baked beans tasted more like simmered-for-5-minutes beans; they were hard and the sauce they were in was watery. The gumbo was horrifically bad. It honestly tasted like someone spilled a carton of pepper into the pot. Did a cook accidentally have a few too many from the bar...? In terms of service, it was good! Surprisingly good food at a small local divey-ish bar. The dirty martini came with a delicious bacon wrapped blue cheese olive...a win in my book. Great selection of beers from Utah and out of state, and solid live music to top it off. The brisket burnt ends (side order) was some of the best I've had and both the prime rib and brisket sandwiches were delicious and paired well with the hotter of two house BBQ sauces. More than a half dozen sides to choose from too. Will say full dinner prices (meats & two sides) were a bit higher...but we didn't get that far! Great BBQ! We ordered a two meat combo to share. We got brisket and cajon sausage with sweet potato fries and baked beans with an extra side of hush puppies. I would come back just for their hush puppies and beans!! Both meats were good, but the brisket was my favorite. Did I mention that the hush puppies were amazing?!? I'd try their catfish if I came again, especially if the cornmeal batter tasted like their hush puppies. Enjoyed the recorded music (blues) and the atmosphere. We were too early for the live music. Had reservations for 17 for several days. Made us wait 45 minutes for tables. While waiting, someone had the idea to order ahead and cut time but we had to search for menus ourselves and the waitress would repeatedly take 1 or 2 orders and disappear. As we were seated, food started coming but we had never got to order drinks. Waitress refused to take drink orders until she had the food out. I ordered mushrooms for my steak and asked for it twice before it arrived--after I had finished all of my food--and I had waited as long as possible to eat the steak to wait for them but ultimately ate it cold. My one drink finally came when I was halfway through eating. We all probably would have ordered more drinks if given opportunity but we had been there hours and had crappy service. Insult to injury, forced to pay 18% tip because it was a large group. That would have been OK if we actually got decent service. She clearly couldn't handle the job and didn't know how. Probably overwhelmed as the place was busy on a Saturday. But I paid over $60 for one meal and being forced to pay a huge tip for crappy service pisses me off. read more

Our first trip to Moab and first experience with BluPig. Service is average at best as is the food. Being meat lovers and quite the carnivores, we've eaten a lot of BBQ and quite certain we know good brisket and sausage... however, this place does not make the list for either. Brisket isn't flavorful and sausage was just okay (as in edible). Jalapeños were tasty... enjoyed them. Fried okra was obviously frozen pre-battered pieces... not edible. Side salad was crisp and fresh...by far best part of the entire dining experience. It is hard to seperate the place from the employees but I'm going to. I love this place. The BBQ & music are a favorite of mine. However, it is terrifying to order a drink from the always overwhelmed bartender. There could be 100 people or 1 the bartender is always confused and overwhelmed. I would say at $21.95 it is a bit high priced and could be psychologically priced at $19.95 and that would be alright... Beef brisket was really good! 4.5 out of 5 stars! Good flavor! Smoked turkey was good. Cajun sausage was 3 out of 5 so not bad, not amazing. Gumbo was really good and wonderfully seasoned and full of flavor! Sweet potato fries were good, I wish there were a few more... I wanted to keep eating. Melana was our server and she was nice. The only negative was the sweet tea... It just wasn't good and I like tea and am not picky about it... It had a weird taste that Donna and I both agreed made it nondrinkable. The atmosphere was cool and clean. We decided to try this place because of mostly good reviews. We were very disappointed in the dry meat and high prices. My husband loves burnt ends, but this place doesn't know how to cook this type of meat. Most of the portion was literally not editable to eat. They have a whole different definition of burnt ends. I had brisket and it was dry and not appetizing. Our bill for 4 people was $140 and most of us were barely able to eat 1/2 of our meal. We didn't want to make a fuss to the waitress, but now that I think about it I wish that we would have complained a little. Service was SOOOOO slow. We tried to go to some other restaurants first but everything was closed. We finally saw this place open and just went for it hoping to eat quick and get back on the road. This is seriously how it went. Took about 10 minutes to get sat (pretty much empty inside) the waiter came to the table 10 minutes later and got drinks. I asked for fried okra as an appetizer as we wait for our food. Ten more minutes later he comes with the okra and says "I didn't bring your drinks?l lol, nor had he even taken our order yet... So then we waited about 10 more minutes for him to come back to take our order. The food came out by another server and took only took about 10 minutes. Thank goodness another server brought it out! We could have waited triple that time if our server had brought it The server came back at the end of the meal and asked how it was. I said I hated it and my food was cold. He offered to fix it but we needed to get on the road. We didn't have another hour. Still got charged for the food I hated. I'm not one to ask for it to come off. One-half additional star for being in Moab, which is not exactly a food Mecca. If this place were in Austin, Kansas City or even Boulder, it would get 3 stars max from me. I had the Pig Wings appetizer, and it tasted very good after a 7.5 hour drive the long way from St. George - a bit too much sauce, but quite good nevertheless. The Cutthroat Pale Ale on draught was very cold and nicely refreshing - pretty tasty beer! The spare ribs were delicious - meat full of flavor and falling off the bone, obviously lovingly cared for during their hours in the smoker, but a bit too much sauce. My waiter Matt was really nice and had great suggestions, but it turned me off a bit when the hostess announced loudly that she was really sick and should have stayed home - note to the establishment, your customers don't want to hear that while they eat. The live music must be on the weekends - on a Thursday they had piped in blues from Stevie Ray to Clapton to the Allman Bros - pretty standard auditory fare, but exactly what drove me here, so I was pleased. I had the pork wings on the recommendation of the bar tender. When I read the description, I was a little skeptical, but went ahead and followed here lead. Turns out I was glad I did such a thing!
