Had reservations for 17 for several days. Made us wait 45 minutes for tables. While waiting, someone had the idea to order ahead and cut time but we had to search for menus ourselves and the waitress would repeatedly take 1 or 2 orders and disappear. As we were seated, food started coming but we had never got to order drinks. Waitress refused to take drink orders until she had the food out. I ordered mushrooms for my steak and asked for it twice before it arrived--after I had finished all of my food--and I had waited as long as possible to eat the steak to wait for them but ultimately ate it cold. My one drink finally came when I was halfway through eating. We all probably would have ordered more drinks if given opportunity but we had been there hours and had crappy service. Insult to injury, forced to pay 18% tip because it was a large group. That would have been OK if we actually got decent service. She clearly couldn't handle the job and didn't know how. Probably overwhelmed as the place was busy on a Saturday. But I paid over $60 for one meal and being forced to pay a huge tip for crappy service pisses me off. read more

I'm strongly opinionated on, and am highly hesitant to believe that any amazing barbecue can come out of anywhere but Texas.... however I have to say the Blu Pig is one of my new all-time faves. This is even having to order it as carry out because we have an at-risk family member who really shouldn't be in public places right now. Carry-out is never as good as in person but it was terrific. The meat stands on its own. The brisket, tri-tip and turkey were all equally impressive without having to smother the meat in sauce (but the sauce was indeed good). Special props re the tri-tip... was so impressed - again, the meat stood really well on its own. And Tate was awesome, helpful and welcoming. Love it! Blu Pig is conveniently located in front of the La Quinta Hotel. Convenient coz after a whole day of hiking, you really just want to take a shower and put your feet up, but you still have to feed that appetite monster. Since Blu Pig's right in front of La Quinta, it's sharing the same large free parking lot. We called our order ahead and picked up the food at the estimated time given. No waiting. There was a hotel discount of 10%. COMBO WITH 3 MEATS AND 2 SIDES - Came with 3 different sauces. It's great because it gives you options. Sauces (a vinegary hot sauce, BBQ, and ranch) were good, not memorable either. The tritip, chicken wings and pulled pork were ok. GUMBO AND RICE - not so good. The portions were not too big. We were the last customers so it was not surprising when we found out all the meats had run out except for the turkey and sausage. The turkey came with a delicious mustard sauce and the sausage came with a delicious barbecue sauce. The manager also arranged for us to get a pint of huckleberry ice cream and although that was not made in house, the coordination and amazing taste are worth mentioning. There were chunks of huckleberries in the pint! It was the best huckleberry ice cream we have ever tasted (we have had a lot or ice cream). read more

I went with my family, who is a large group comprised mostly of teenagers, and was pleasantly surprised by how well our group's size was accommodated. We were seated at a big enough table, and the waitress didn't make any mistakes even with the size of our order. Our waitress, a lovely woman named Sarah, was extremely polite and accommodating, and the service was fenominal. We all got our food, drinks, desserts, and refills in a timely manner, and everything was delicious and exceded expectations. Five stars is for the food. Three stars for service. But the amazing food takes precedence! Stopped here on a road trip and we were both blown away by the food. This place was very much the restaurant highlight of the whole trip. They advertise that they slow-smoke their own meat, and oh boy do they! I had the smoked turkey plate with cranberry BBQ sauce and baked beans and potato salad as sides. The turkey was perfect in every way: melt-in-your-mouth tender, juicy, lightly blackened exterior, and absolutely aromatic with smoke. The cranberry BBQ sounded strange, but they have done it right! All the flavours were magically balanced to create something with distinct BBQ and berry notes; one did not overpower the other. It paired beautifully with the turkey. The sides were the true surprise. Often, restaurants will half-ass the sides as long as they have a great main dish, but Blu Pig does not do second best. I am a dedicated fan of potato salad and I could have eaten a huge bucket of the stuff they make. It was so creamy and rich and tangy...mmmmm. The baked beans were probably the most surprising: they were smoked! I'd never before had the pleasure of eating smoked baked beans, but now I will feel deprived every time I have "normal" baked beans. I wish I lived close to the Blu Pig, but then again, I'd probably go broke spending all my money here if I did, so perhaps it's a blessing in disguise to be far away. Best barbecue I've had so far, and some of the best food, period. The service was just ok, but it's understandable that the servers would be stressed, given how super busy the restaurant is, and how touristy Moab is, generally. There are two main seating areas: the bar, where the live music happens, and the "quiet" dining room (they are separated by a wall and doors). We sat in the quiet area. Bathroom was clean and well-maintained, and everything else was clean and presentable, too. All-in-all, it comes highly recommended from me! read more

The food here was average. I had ordered a loaded potato as a side (they gave me butter and sour cream) the potato was dry and under cooked. I came to the restaurant to order a Turkey bacon melt they didn't have turkey. That's no problem I'll get something else! I asked for a Philly cheese steak. None of the meat they use for that. I order a salad they had no meats and didn't have any ice at this restaurant the salad i got was supposed to have chicken. What did it not have? Chicken. I got the burnt ends and they were not edible. They were so burnt you couldn't eat them. I tried covering them in BBQ sauce to make it softer but that didn't work either. I ate my sides and they were just okay (coleslaw and mac and cheese). My husband got the combo plate with the sausage, pulled pork and brisket. It was just okay too. Our visit to this restaurant seemed fine until 3 of us in our party got very ill from food poisoning. I called the restaurant to let them know, first guy said they would get back to us and possibly give us a refund - he never bothered to get back to us. Second employee I spoke with said it was virtually impossible that happened, and said there was nothing he could do. I understand stuff happens, and it was unfortunate that my family was sick for 2 days because of it. Especially when we had a 4+ hour drive home...with food poisoning. But this restaurant could have, at the very least done the right thing and 1) Returned our call and have a manager speak to us. 2) Consider giving us a partial or full refund. The man on the phone kept talking about how much business they did that night, so would it really have been a big deal to do the right thing for the customer? Great BBQ! We ordered a two meat combo to share. We got brisket and cajon sausage with sweet potato fries and baked beans with an extra side of hush puppies. I would come back just for their hush puppies and beans!! Both meats were good, but the brisket was my favorite. Did I mention that the hush puppies were amazing?!? I'd try their catfish if I came again, especially if the cornmeal batter tasted like their hush puppies. Enjoyed the recorded music (blues) and the atmosphere. We were too early for the live music. However, it is terrifying to order a drink from the always overwhelmed bartender. There could be 100 people or 1 the bartender is always confused and overwhelmed. Therefore she is seldom nice, actually I've never seen her be nice. It makes for a really unpleasant experience. Will I go back, yep, but I'll avoid the bartender for sure. read more

The BBQ here is good and solid, everything you'd expect and nothing out of the ordinary. BF and I were seated in the main dining room, so we weren't able to hear the live music in the bar; maybe next time... We are both big fans of Utah's own High West whiskey, but since it was the off-season, the bar did not have many options in stock. At least we were able to order a mule with High West instead of vodka - which should definitely be added to the menu! The hostess was very friendly, and chatted with us before we left. Our waiter was very new, but provided excellent service. So definitely bonus points for the staff here! read more

The food is great, this review is not about the food. I highly recommend getting take out from this restaurant. I observed that the recommend COVID protocols were not being followed. All the tables on the inside of the restaurant were seated, no social distancing in evidence. The waiting area was packed with people. They were shoulder to shoulder waiting to get seated or for their take out. Many of the customers were not wearing masks. The wait staff were clearly overwhelmed and probably did not notice this. Excellent pulled pork and smoked turkey. Large portions as well. 3 different sauces available on the table: Carolina mustard, Texas garlic and Kansas City sweet. The turkey comes with a cranberry bbq sauce that is really good! Cheesy potatoes were good but the fried okra was even better. Prices are a little high with 1/2 rack being $24. My husband loves burnt ends, but this place doesn't know how to cook this type of meat. Most of the portion was literally not editable to eat. They have a whole different definition of burnt ends. I had brisket and it was dry and not appetizing. Our bill for 4 people was $140 and most of us were barely able to eat 1/2 of our meal. We didn't want to make a fuss to the waitress, but now that I think about it I wish that we would have complained a little. Stopped in for dinner on a Thursday night. It wasn't too busy and the staff was very friendly and helpful. My husband and I shared the 12 oz tri tip with mac n cheese and a side salad. The flavor of the meat was delicious and it was very tender. The mac was creamy and perfect and the salad was more than enough for 2 to share. Burnt ends, brisket, pulled pork to name a few. We ordered the Hush Puppies - definitely a must try! The seasoning is perfection. I ordered the brisket plate and it was delicious but a little cold (to my disappointment). The cheesy potatoes were cold too. The only thing that was warm was the green beans. Everything tasted good though! The boyfriend ordered a platter and experience similar coldness of the meat as well. Not sure if our waiter just forgot about us for a couple minutes and it just sat around but it was kind of a bummer (though we reheated the leftovers and it was amazing!). Great selection of beers from Utah and out of state, and solid live music to top it off. The brisket burnt ends (side order) was some of the best I've had and both the prime rib and brisket sandwiches were delicious and paired well with the hotter of two house BBQ sauces. More than a half dozen sides to choose from too. Will say full dinner prices (meats & two sides) were a bit higher...but we didn't get that far! The service is so bad it would piss off a Nun. Our intended waitress was named Treill or Trell or Triell. We honestly didn't see her enough to catch the name. There were 9 (nine) customers including our party of 4 for TWO waitresses to serve. Took forever to get seated. When asking for our drink order my husband said "three unsweet teas and a Dr Pepper". She says "did you say sweet?....." Honest mistake, right? Uh no. She literally had to question every order. Example: ordered pulled pork dinner with the 2 sides to be fried okra and salad without tomatoes or onions. She explained to us that they don't put tomatoes and onions on their pulled pork. Our food was great! It's the only reason I gave any stars. After she brought our food we never saw her again until we flagged down the other waitress to get our ticket. We sat for quite a while with empty tea glasses after we were all finished eating just waiting for a ticket. I walked up to the front to see if I could get a ticket so we could leave with no luck. Then I actually called the restaurant to see if I could get help that way. No answer. I hate for one bad employee to cause a bad review for a business but they should make sure they have capable people in place to represent their business. Oh and the card machine won't let you check out if you put zero for a tip. We had to put "cash tip" for it to go through. That's some shady BS. Good flavor. But missing the mark. Me and my boyfriend ordered the ultimate brisket sandwich. Our sandwiches didn't even match. Would recommend more sauce, or ask for extra. Our first trip to Moab and first experience with BluPig. Service is average at best as is the food. Being meat lovers and quite the carnivores, we've eaten a lot of BBQ and quite certain we know good brisket and sausage... however, this place does not make the list for either. Brisket isn't flavorful and sausage was just okay (as in edible). Jalapeños were tasty... enjoyed them. Fried okra was obviously frozen pre-battered pieces... not edible. Side salad was crisp and fresh...by far best part of the entire dining experience. That being said, if you're coming here for a good side salad, by all means; however, do understand an accompanying entree will disappoint most true BBQ carnivores. You're welcome. read more
