This was such a major disappointment! I came here on a Sunday evening with my boyfriend before going to a concert at Mystic Theatre. I had been to the block before about a few years earlier and remember it being lively and fun filled with a handful of food options and a packed bar. This time, the establishment was almost completely empty with only two food options: the barbecue or the pizza. Both menus were extremely limited in terms of available options. I went with the barbecue platter and my boyfriend went with two slices of pepperoni pizza. While the pizza was decent, but nothing to write home about, I would never order that barbecue platter again. First of all, the mac & cheese that it came with was more like overcooked buttered noodles without seasoning. The pulled pork and the coleslaw tasted old as if it had been sitting out at room temp. I also thought it was weird that they gave me potato chips as another side, but to eat their own. The only thing I actually enjoyed were the side of pickles and who knows if those were even made or from a jar. It was cold outside, so we decided to sit under the enclosed portion of the building and flies swarmed us - they were everywhere and we were continuously swatting our hands around to try to get any relief. Exploring all the breweries in a smaller town like Petaluma doesn't take much time. Ads for Two Rock Brewing led me here, their hours weren't correct online so I had to come back later the same day. This is a shared outdoor event space with restaurants, bars, and stage for live music. There was a good amount of people there, probably gets busier during events. I asked the bar about the brewery and was told there was currently only one selection from them on tap which was disappointing. It wasn't the most comfortable place to enjoy a beer either. Even if there had been more to experience, I probably wouldn't have bothered going back. One other note, the restrooms are singles and with so many people there was a long wait to use one. Cool food park with live music entertainment this past weekend, King Baby & The Mighty Bogarts. With the band playing rnb, soul, and blues, the sounds of the guitar, bass, drums, harmonica, shakers, and vocals created a lovely environment for enjoying dinner with my favorite person. Savory dishes from Jackie Boy's BBQ and a cheesy slice of pepperoni pizza for sharing satisfied our taste buds on this beautiful Saturday evening. Yes, options were limited for calling this a "food park", but offerings were more than sufficient (besides the food vendors selling bbq, pizza, and ice cream from the main window in the patio, there was also a food truck near the parking lot serving spicy mexican dishes). Lots of TV's and a bar inside the venue. We got a couple blocktails, the watermelon marg and barrel aged old fashioned. The drinks were made well, very tasty and strong, though a bit sweet as they do add sugar. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, too. Fire pits near the partially covered tables outside, and the stage featuring live music situated out here as well. Our family and friends were in town for the weekend so we were looking for a nice family friendly spot to hang at. We decided to check out the Block on a Friday evening. Parking was easy and accessible. It is located in a nice area in downtown Petaluma. From the outside, the venue looks inviting and lively from the decorated outdoor lights. There was a live band performing in the patio section which is always cool. Tables and sitting areas with fire pits and heat lamps surround the patio. Unfortunately some fire pits were not working. There are only 2 food vendors available to everyone. There is a Mexican spot that was serving tacos, quesadillas, and churros. The other spot was an American vendor that was serving both bbq and pizza. I only tried the churros and they were good especially with the Dulce De Leche sauce. My cousin tried the bbq food and he said it was ok. It would be nice if there were a couple of more extra food vendors. There was a full bar that also served craft beer on tap. Our drinks were refreshing and crisp. Large picnic tables were available for big groups. Heat lamps were all over the area where the bar was at which was great since it was chilly that night. A great gathering place! It's a casual indoor venue with an outdoor feel, due to both barn-sized doors are kept open. The breeze was welcome on a hot night. Dillon the bartender is very sweet, helpful, and attentive. One week I opted for the food truck of Mexican food, and another week I had The Block's Lamb Gyro Pizza with tzatziki sauce. Both were delicious. I happened to be there for the Tuesday eve open mic. The group was so welcoming, and well-organized by the 3x album singer songwriter Domenic Bianco. Ambiance: family friendly, great music, great vibes. Definitely a great place to sit and chill with a drink and a friend. Drinks: not bad! Go for happy hour if you can. I recommend the blackberry mojito. Food: sooooooo..... not great. I got the buffalo chicken sandwich which was supposed to be on a French bread roll. It came on sliced white bread, the smallest piece of chicken, and it looks like they messed up my sandwich because it came with pesto, too. Definitely not listed that way. My husband got the pesto melt... cheese not melted and no pesto. It was more like a Cesar chicken sandwich which isn't even on their menu. No flavor and completely wrong. Their wood fired pizza is the way to go - got it for our daughter and it was decent. Service: I'm not sure if it's because it was a weeknight, but they only had one person working the bar, no one bussing dishes, and no one to order from or ask questions to. All of the ordering was done by QR code. It just didn't feel very inviting. Not my preference - especially for the prices. This is a great place in Petaluma to hang out with a large or small group of friends. They have a lot of seating areas covered & uncovered & a few fire pits as well. They have food trucks there but I believe you can also bring your own food/snacks. They offer a variety of drinks on tap & have a full bar as well. I visited The Block for the first time a few weeks ago to listen to a friend's band. My experience was good, however, when it was time to leave, my car was gone. It was parked in the creamery next door but there was no signage in the spot where I parked saying not to park there. Well It turns out, Ace Towing hauled my car away and charged me a whopping $650 to get it back! THAT plus being stranded late at night and not in my hometown was a horrible experience. Needless to say, If the owner of The Block doesn't do more to warn patrons - there is no way I will visit this establishment again. I came to the Block for a friend's graduation celebration. We came on a Saturday afternoon. It wasn't too busy when we first arrived. There are many tables and a few places to get food/drinks from. I opted for a lion's mane mushroom taco and cauliflower and potato taco. The stand was pretty busy and they were making tortillas by hand so there was a bit of a wait. The tacos themselves were pretty good! My favorite was the mushroom one. The ingredients tasted very fresh and the salsa complimented it nicely. This is a fun, casual, friendly covered and heated outdoor music venue - kind of like an oversized, fancy patio. There are a few good food options (BBQ, wood-fired pizza, tacos), along with a bar where DJ and dancing take over after band sets end at 9:00. Best of all, live bands perform Fridays and Saturdays from 6:00-9:00 p.m., and some Sunday afternoons. There's no cover charge. SO cool!!! read more

The grilled cheese was room temperature and looked nothing like the image, could have made better at home. The pizza tasted like cafeteria pizza from high school, lacked flavor, reminded me of Chuck E Cheese. The highlight was the double IPA, the only thing that was better than expectation, everything else was lacking. I can make better pizza and grilled cheese at home and my family would have been much happier. If you come here, only come for drinks, don't waste your time on the food. I was there for a couple hours and when I was leaving and getting ready to get into my car.. my car towed!!!. There was literally no parking and no signs saying you could not park where I was parked. When I brought it up to the tow truck company they told me the owner of The Block removed all the signage because they share a fence and stated his customers could legally park there, however they still towed my car and I still had to pay over $665 to get my car back. This situation was extremely frustrating and unfair. There was no way to know that parking there could result in towing, and if signage had been posted--I would not have parked there. Instead, I was left with a major financial burden due to absent information. I spoke to Ace towing Monday morning and the manager stated the owner of The Block removed all signs so he wouldn't lose customers and she refereed to him as a POS who sits there and allows customers to park in places he knows will put them at risk of being towed. I will not support a business that does this to their paying customers. read more

There were plenty places to park, and sit in the beer garden. Indoor/bar area had heaters, but we chose to get a little sun outside. Zimi's Pizza is a cute little walk-up window where you order, and they have hella bomb wood fire pizza and calzone options. I chose veggie calzone -- it was warm, cheesy, filled with artichokes, mushrooms, and bell peppers! The staff were friendly and the vibes were nice. Great place to catch up with friends! The pandemic has produced a huge pent-up demand for dining out. I see it every time I'm out in my neighborhood. In early evening, parklets are physically overflowing with diners and drinkers and all manner of people relishing an escape from their home. So it was silly of me to show up somewhere, early on a Friday evening, and expect they'd have any seat at all let alone one I'd like to dine and drink from. So I moved on. The Block was choice number two but forevermore, perhaps it should be choice number one. I admit to liking this sort of beer garden/bar/food truck/live music/dogs- allowed sort of venue. I can walk in and find a seat despite a crowd. I can stand in a line and return to my seat with a drink (then later, with food). I can lay eyes on so many adorable dogs that it's amazing I stayed seated at all. And I can hear good, live music played by a band with four horn players and watch people dancing to that music. I could've danced too but: I had a seat. The Block is a pretty self-service fair but staff do a great job of cleaning up the used cups and plates when people leave. The Block offers about 50 different beers, each with enough descriptive info listed that one can actually determine what one wants to drink while waiting in line to get that drink. The line for cocktails is shorter and a really nice Greyhound ran a reasonable $10. Four food trucks were on site during my visit (Mexican, Greek, Pizza, and BBQ) and I had it on good authority that the Mexican and the Pizza outposts were the best of the bunch. I told my son I went here and he recalled coming about 1 year ago on a rainy day (there is covered and non-covered seating) when only a handful of others were present. It's not like that now, and with all of this pent-up demand, this place is hopping. But it's got a nice, happy, and welcoming vibe. I really enjoyed The Block. read more

Ask him to make you a drink. Tip him. If you don't, you're doing something wrong. This place is in a really industrial area, I immediately joke that it was the kind of place you'd see on Dateline for a special. However the bar itself is super cute, the heaters are a plus considering how cold it would be in the fall. There's a pizza and bbq option for food. Lots of different beer and hard alcohol options. Trivia night or Thursdays is so fun and the goodies you can win by who's sponsoring adds an extra layer of competition. Love that there are two separate bathrooms and a little Pac-Man arcade game for kids. Would definitely recommend coming here to hang out with friends or as a first date. I pulled in the back of the parking lot and was instructed to park my truck in a specific spot there was no no parking signs. Came out and my truck was towed. Later found out that it was the bar owners dad who told me where to park. I was told by a security guard who works for the dairy that the bar owners know your car will get towed but they don't care. Overall our experience at The Block was great. Blondiva, a Blondie cover band, was playing so I grabbed my superfan wife and off we went. We timed our arrival to catch the end of hoppy hour ($2 off pints) but were pleasantly surprised to find out that all 2 Rock beers were half off. Grabbed a pitcher of German Pils and headed to the next stop, dinner. This is where things went off the rails a little. I had planned on getting the Poseidon pizza from Zimi. I ordered it and was give a pager so the could let me know when it was ready. It buzzed about 10 minutes later and off I went. First impression was great, a beautiful pie with tons of fresh arugula on top. As we dug in I noticed that it seemed a bit salty. They had substituted the promised white anchovies for salted ones, not the same thing at all. I went back and asked about the switch and they said they ran out of the white ones. This seemed like something they should have mentioned when I ordered and no effort was made to rectify the issue or offer to replace with another pie. My friends and I truly used to love coming here. Trivia nights are fun and I loved the chicken gyros- btw where did they go? The last few times I've been here it's only pizza basically. I think the 'Block-tails' are delicious and the name is clever. But I beg of you: please make this a 21+ only establishment. When walking through the deck area, I am constantly looking down in fear that a feral child is going to run into me and cause my drink to spill. When sitting at the picnic tables/ benches I am being bounced up and down by children running back and forth completely unsupervised. The last time I visited, there were more children under the age of 10 than adults! It is just getting a bit out of hand? Considering it is a bar and not a playground.... The bartenders are super friendly and I automatically noticed that the bar area seemed to have gotten a remodel since the last time I had been here. And a good time was had by all.... We finally joined our friends at this hidden Petaluma treasure last night. The spacious, welcoming social environment it a great way to end any day. The staff is excellent. They wiped our benches to dry the rain and lit a fire to warm our bodies. The place is well appointed and I never felt crowded. They have fire pits, standing areas and picnic tables. I never waited more than a few Minutes at the bar where, Forrest introduced us to some terrific tequila and also made us some other delicious cocktails. Happy hour ends at 6pm. Beers are 3.00 during happy hour. The food is okay....though the pizza crust was softer than I like and the cheese not melted all the way. I wonder if they rushed it out? It wasn't typical wood fired pizza. The toppings were creative and delicious. We had some bbq chicken that was okay too. The cold tortilla that came with the chicken taco was too thick to be uncooked. Often, you can find more than these two anchor tenants pulling up in their food trucks, too. So, I will try again:) It's very family friendly. You come for the fun. They have life music a lot of nights. Last nights band was all over the place. The two person group stated out with, 'space and drums,' then had some danceable music, then hard jams reminiscent of, Red Hot Chili Peppers, then 'noise' then, danceable.....it was an odd mix. With the kids, young folks and older folks I would enjoy a group that creates a different ambience. But, that is only me. I will go back for sure. How is this not a front page story?! We were assured by staff of The Block that our parking space was okay and then came out to find our car had been towed. When we confronted staff from The Block about this incident they were FULLY aware of the contentious relationship with the apparent owner of our parking space and THEN opted to tell us they were in litigation over the issue!!! They were FULLY aware of our likelihood to be towed, but opted to usher in our business rather than protect us from this HUGE financial hardship! $665!!!! We were also informed by both the security of the lot we parked in and the tow yard, that The Block has been encouraged to post signage to warn patrons of the tow risk, but have opted not to do so out of concern of losing business. THIS IS A DISGUST!!! What a hateful, selfish and cold-hearted experience this was. Would have simply and gladly parked elsewhere had The Block opted to post a SINGLE sign to protect their patrons.
