What a great whiskey bar! We came here with some friends and had a great time. Excellent cocktails all around. I wish we had a spot like this in PV/San Pedro.

We came here for a casual dinner on a Sunday night and the Blind Donkey did not disappoint. We sat outside because we brought our dog and there was no one else out there! The menu was scanned via QR code and it was easy enough to access. We both got burgers, mine was a beyond patty and my fiancé got a beef one. The food came so quickly and the French fries were DELICIOUS. I've been looking for a new favorite fry since Pizza of Venice was lost in the Eaton Fire and I think these may be it! Funny that we didn't try the drinks or spend time inside at the bar but from sitting outside on a cold winter night, I can only imagine the inside is even more fun!

Walking back to our vehicles after dinner we thought we'd come try this whiskey bar out. A very interesting name that caught our attention when we were initially walking to dinner. Inside looks kinda divey. Bartender even said that this place is kind of between a dive bar and a cocktail bar. The bartender was ok. Not bubbly at all. Had a great poker face. Initially seemed aloof and off putting. But I get it cuz I'm like that at work also. So I get it. He's just misunderstood!! They are predominantly a whiskey establishment. I love how the back of the bar had all their whiskey bottles on display. Looks really nice. There's plenty of seating here. Multiple types of seating too. Bar top at the bar. High top tablee. Regular tables with chairs. Even couch like seating areas. It was pretty dead when we were there on a Sunday evening. Drinks were good. He definitely knows what hes doing. Never figured out why this place is called Blind Donkey. But a solid whiskey establishment

Hatchet job

We visited Blind Donkey on a Friday evening. The place wasn't too crowded yet, and we managed to find a spot at the bar. It's open seating throughout, and all orders are placed directly at the bar. We tried the Hatchet Job (Mezcal, Campari, Lemon, Simple Syrup) and the Pineapple Daiquiri (Rum, Pineapple, and Lime Juice). Both drinks were well-balanced and enjoyable. Service was good, and the atmosphere was relaxed--nothing too fancy, which was a refreshing change given the area. Overall, it's a pleasant spot for a quick, laid-back drink. Highly recommended if you're looking for a casual place with good cocktails and a friendly vibe.

Bar

Great place to get a drink after work. Nice and quiet place to sit and have time to reflect on a Monday night.

You reach a phone booth, pick up the phone, and wait for someone to buzz you in. This bar is different from the other two bars as it's smaller, more intimate, and focused on craft cocktails. On nights and weekends though, it can still get busy. We ordered a variety of drinks and liked the menta milk punch ($18), last word ($18), and queen's park swizzle ($16). This was my first time here and I would be interested in coming back and also check out the tiki bar too. This is a cool place to go as part of your bar hopping in Old Town Pasadena.

The ambiance has a perfect speakeasy vibe with its dim lighting and relaxed atmosphere, making it an ideal spot to just hang out and grab a quality drink. The cocktail program here is absolutely phenomenal. I am pretty picky when it comes to whiskey, and since Manhattans are my absolute favorite, my expectations were high. They mixed an incredible Manhattan that was perfectly balanced with the right sweet vermouth, and their Old Fashioneds are crafted with an attention to detail that really lets the spirits shine through. We also ordered a few Paper Planes, and they were dangerously good, hitting that perfect sweet and sour note that makes you want to immediately order another round. It is not just the incredible drinks that make this place stand out, but the exceptional service from the bartenders. They are super knowledgeable and treat craft cocktail making like a true art form, all while keeping the vibe laid-back and welcoming. Clearly I wanted to like it so bad that I came back five times because I had a wishlist of five food items I wanted to try. However, each time unfortunately just got progressively more disappointing. My first time here, I had the shrimp tacos which were good but very small. I also had a Jasmine Refresher, which was delightful! My second time, I had the pesto chicken sandwich which was also pretty good but nothing to crave or write home about. My partner and I also shared some poutine which was soggy, and glued together by a blanket of cheese. Someone might like that but it was ultimately disappointing to me. Additionally, the service was slow but I was forgiving because it was lunchtime. My third time, I came late with my partner and sister. This time, was not overly busy, but the service was even slower. I had the spinach and artichoke grilled cheese that I had super high hopes for. It was really greasy and again, nothing to write home about. It might just not have been what I was expecting. My fourth time, I shared street tacos and a soup & salad with my partner. Again, tacos were tiny and greasy. They were also made with one corn tortilla each? Y'all know if you're using tiny baby corn tortillas, you need two or it's gonna rip. The salad was fine. The soup was like a mystery vegetable situation with cheese. I still don't remember what it was. Tonight, my final time, I finally tried their The State burger. The bottom bun was wet. My friend got their maple glazed chicken with risotto which she said was salty and she opted not to take leftovers home. We both got the Girl Next Door cocktails which were fine. I was feeling gooooood. So, I've finally come to the ultimate conclusion that this place is more about their drinks and the chill, intimate (albeit kinda dark and slow sometimes) ambiance. I don't know how this one compares to other locations but it ultimately feels like someone had the IDEAS of gourmet food, but they just can't execute it. I wouldn't say people should never come here... only that Basin 141 down the street is similar, more casual, and seems to know how to execute so be a regular there instead. Sorryyyyy.
