I cannot understand what has taken me so long to actually get to this place. With a cooler section chock full of local bottles brews to Belgian favorites, this place is a Hopps lovers dream. Add to this, there are some awesome food choices from one of the best Reuben sandwiches I have ever ha to a heart attack waiting to happen Mac and cheese that yes you can add bacon to. With a gob of seating available, I don't think you would ever run into a situation where you will be needing a place to sit. With a very comfortable ambiance, upscale look and feel, this takes a brew house to another level. Now here is a novel idea, rather than flagging down a server, you can text in what you want and here comes more chilled libations! Genius! From now on, this is really going to be the place to crash for not only a good brew, but great food and service. read more

Love the food! You can either stand in line or sit at bar for a more personal service... Tip: try 1/2 sandwiches before full plate, or share - their food is soo yummy good~ we are definitely going back! We left so full! Not a fan of the fries, but the soup was delicious and the salads that others had, looked great. I have 4 stars due to... Excellent service, however you had to chase them down. To get more beer, more water, your ticket. We sat at the bar, which thought that would be easier service, but you still had to yell or chase. When you had them though, great service! I really appreciated that they support local business and promoted them. The hot sauces were excellent. They should figure out the service piece a little bit in terms of all customers, spread out a little more vs concentrated in sections. This was one of the first places I went to after moving to Eugene and it has remained one of my favorites! It's a great place to come to pick up some specialty and local beer from their huge selection. Plus 20% off all beer to-go! If you want to sit down and eat, they have a great food selection - I always love getting a pretzel or bratwurst. You can order at the counter or from your phone which I prefer. There are an amazing number of interesting beers on tap, and what seemed like hundreds of beers and soft drinks in a very big cooler. Counter service for ordering and then delivered to your ttable. I ordered the cheese and charcuterie platter, which had 3 different cured meats ,spicy pickled vegetables, 3 assorted cheeses, lightly pickled onions, grapes and Kalamata olives and sliced baguette. The only issue I had was that the wax rind was served on the platter and there was some type of rind left on the prosciutto. We also ordered the beer mac and cheese, which was a very substantial size, as was the order of cheese-bacon fries. {and who doesn't like bacon, on anything]. We also ordered a pesto chicken sandwich with a cup of tasty beef cheese soup. My feeling is that there was too much pesto and it overpowered the sandwich. This is one of my favorite summer food + drink stops in Eugene. It offers a great, lively atmosphere for guests of all age groups. It's the perfect place to brings friends, co workers, family or dates. The Ghouddist sandwich is a MUST TRY. The beers on tap are always exciting, and if you enjoy what you're drinking - you ca always select it from the cooler located on site, to enjoy at home. This is one of Eugene's best tap rooms. Legendary really - because it is so original and unique to its self. Staff are absolutely stunning, they offer knowledge and friendliness to each of their products. Visit, check it out. The selection of beer, cider, and wine is vast at bier stein! If you're wanting a laid back spot to grab a drink and hang out with some friends then this is the place. I would give it a full 5 stars except their food menu could use some help. I had ordered a cider and their Mona Lisa panini, which looked delicious except the flavor was a bit bland. I thought I would end things with dessert and order their brownie however I've never had such a tough time trying to dig into a brownie since they're usually served warm not cold. I love food so for me this place was a bit of a disappointment, but I wouldn't mind stopping by for a drink again. read more

Oh. My. Lord. This place is amazing! We're just here house hunting for the day, and our realtor recommended this place for lunch. I can already tell this will be one of our faves! I had the flank steak salad, and I'm not even exaggerating when I say it was the most tender, flavorful flank steak I've ever had. The balsamic basil dressing was amazing, and the rest of the ingredients were fresh and flavorful! My husband raved about his Little Clucker sandwiches, and I sneaked a few of his fries which were to die for! The service was quick and friendly, and it looked like a great selection of beers and ciders! We will for sure be back!! It was the perfect place to stop in. read more

This is one of the better brew pubs in town. You can access their entire beer and cider menu live via your phone/app and even order through there without having to leave your table which is super cool. They do have a pool table as well and the atmosphere is bright unlike many of their poorly lit competitors. And they have a flyer board which is always fun to look at and outdoor seating even pre-covid. The food is good as well, nothing amazing but on par with what one expects from a bar. I wish there were some more exciting non-alcohol drinks on the menu, but nonetheless I have been here a number of times and will continue to come here because it's such a great atmosphere. read more

I was very surprised at this restaurant! I didn't have an idea of what I wanted to eat nor did my husband so we figured whatever looks the best was rated the best on yelp would be our choice. (We had taken a random family road trip Mother's Day weekend to Eugene just to hang out, and decided to stop in Salem for dinner. ) When I looked up yelp, this was the best of the bunch so we decided on the beer stein. Fortunately for us the beer stein is a family friendly restaurant so we didn't have to worry about having our kiddos with us well we drink a beer or two and tried out some of their most popular burgers. The interior was not at all tacky like I was expecting, no overly decorated walls or tacky Decour. The beer list was r solid, the wine list was solid, plus they have hard liquor for those of us who need something a little more stiff. The prices are pretty on point maybe even a little high but for the high-quality ingredients are giving you a plus the service I would pay the extra couple bucks. The cashiers at the front are very helpful with the way the menu works and offering different things you may not know about like beer tasters or how the tableservice works. I also didn't know you could keep a tab open at the bar even if you're sitting and having a family dinner. That was way nicer than having to worry about getting a check at the end of the night. The food was great, hot and fresh and you could definitely tell all the ingredients for solid. It was so good my husband and I were able to eat every single part of our meal which may sound normal but for us it's actually quite abnormal as our work schedules have us snacking on most of the day rather than eating full meals. I highly recommend this place and I can't speak for all of the food on the menu But the things that we did have we really enjoyed. Service was pretty good I have no complaints there. I've tried this place a few times and enjoyed it each time. Tons of different beers, some local, others almost local (Portland), others from Denver, Seattle, etc. A curated assortment of great brews, and it's quite affordable to order a flight. I like the open beer-hall layout with tons of seating. Even when the place is packed, it's not too loud and no yelling required. Food: greasy, unhealthy, exactly what you'd expect. Comes in huge portions. Fries are good (and they gave me three different sauces when I asked!). Nachos are a venerable mountain. Pretzel with cheese sauce is dense and chewy. All of the food on their menu makes you worry about your arteries but the purpose, I suppose, is to offset the alcohol. Re: the nachos, which I've gotten twice. Both times I thought to myself, this is great but needs more salsa. Or a more balanced proportion of cheese to other things, because it's mostly a heaping pile of chips with a heaping pile of cheese melted onto it, and a light dusting of other things. Probably best for lunch or light dinner with beer. Nice selection of sandwiches, panini, and salads with a selection of appetizers to complement a panorama of draft beers, not to mention the excellent selection of bottled beers. There is clearly inventive genius in that kitchen. Of exceptional note was the cream of mushroom soup that incorporated mascarpone and a little finely diced ham. Silky, balanced, and not fatty, without a doubt the best mushroom soup I've ever tasted in North America or Europe, including (I'm sorry to admit) my own recipe. Now I'll be experimenting on recreating that 5+ star flavor. Another 5+ star offering was the grapefruit soda on tap. Unlike any other soda, this gives non-beer drinkers their own fantastic beverage. Not too tart, not too sweet, not too bubbly. The bottled beer selection is obviously tilted towards the large Oregon selection but the diversity of Belgian and German lagers and ales suggests considerable thought in those selections. I can't imagine that everyone would not find at least several desirable options. The coveted fifth star is for bringing together all the 4 & 5+ star elements with an eye to that diverse selection that makes a great food and drink offering. Add in the friendly service (OK, you line up to order but get table delivery) in a vibrant atmosphere and you have a 5 star experience. read more

I'm not much of a drinker, so this place isn't as exciting to me as it is for others, I'm sure. I've only been to this "new" location (I know it's not that new) once, and I was very impressed with their beer selection. They seem to have something for everyone. I like the casual atmosphere. It's very open with lots of tables. It's loud, so not a great place for intimate conversations, but definitely a fun place to go with friends or for a casual date night. I have yet to try their food, so I hope to update this review at some point with that info. read more

How many places in the U.S. can boast 1000 different bottles of beer spanning an entire beer-hall wall, as well as 30 evolving taps and a menu that accomplishes the rare feat of being extensive and delicious? Other things I love about the Bier Stein: -Service is fast, friendly and accommodating -Beers are always cold -Food is always hot -No need to put a good conversation on hold for a refill- you can text-a-beer from your table! -All beers are served in their intended glasses- the Bier Stein boasts a museum-like collection of Belgian tulips, Hefeweizen glasses, goblets, lambic flutes, etc. -Bottles are 20% off if you purchase them to-go -You can hear your conversations *throws confetti* -It's always lively yet laid-back -It's one of the few places in town that is good for large groups -The bathrooms are clean (just take all the stars, take them) -The lighting is soft -You can watch sports games, play board games or pool, or hang out by the fireplace -It's kid-friendly (there's an entire section of the beer wall devoted to organic sodas & other non-alcoholic drinks) -Two words: The Reuben. -Three words for herbivores: The hummus plate. I really liked Bier Stein. They have great sandwiches and other delicious options on their menu including hearty salads, Mac n cheese and paninis. I had a chicken sandwich with pesto with a side salad and a pineapple IPA. The staff was very friendly and explained to myself and my group the difference between certain beers and answered all of our questions. They serve the beers in their intended glasses and have a really easy to read LED screen menu above the counter. You order at the counter, take a number, grab a table and wait for your food to come out while sipping on a nice beer. They have a few nonalcoholic options available as well. If you're looking to just grab some bottles of beer to go, they have a large refrigerated section of beers for your choosing. There is plenty of indoor seating and a few tables outside. Food review: We were clamoring for some warm clam chowder in the evening after a rainy day and Bier Stein was one of the only places around still opened that served chowder. We each ordered a bowl of clam chowder and one sausage sandwich with sauerkraut and fries to share. Tried a taste of the beer cheese soup and although it tasted ok, it was very salty, (clam chowder is the way to go here). Clam chowder 4 stars, excellent and not too thick or creamy and hit the spot, it was served with fresh French bread baguette slices. Bratwurst Sausage Sandwich 1 star-really salty, horrible tasting sausage actually, and the fries were not much better. I so wished the seafood market next door wasn't already closed. read more

Beer Nirvana...period! I love the way this place is set-up...in addition to a great selection on-tap (over 30 taps that are constantly changing), they have an enormous WALL of glass door coolers with the best beer selection ever. I hereby dub this wall "The Monolith" (in honor of the huge monolith used to encourage the evolution of species in Stanley Kubrick's 2001 a Space Odyssey). As noted on their website, once you pick your beer, they provide you with a "style-specific vessel to ensure an authentic and enjoyable beer experience" so just as the shape of the glass affects the taste of spirits and wine, it does the same with beer. Having been voted the #1 Beer Bar on the West Coast and also appearing on the "10 Bucket List Beer Bars" it's a must visit bar for all beer lovers. It's a huge space at around 20,000 square feet and a great place to chill with friends. After a large meal down the street and skipping dessert, I was happy to find a bottle of Wells "Sticky Toffee Pudding Ale"...problem solved! I think I've found my new favorite dessert beer. read more

Our AirBnB hosts recommended this local pub during our Eugene stay. We stopped in here for late bites on a Saturday night. Great selection of bottled brews and ciders! We opted for beer on tap and took a few bottles to go. The tap list had some great knowns and a few interesting new options. We went for the IPAs and a stout - enjoyed them all. The food was great! We ordered the pretzel, cubano with extra pickles, and the chicken and doughnuts. Everything was tasty but... ORDER THE CHICKEN AND DOUGHNUTS. The sweet/spicy combo is bomb!!! If you find a fave beer, it sucks because the beer rotates pretty quickly and next time you go to beir stein and it will be gone! If you are a beer explorer like me, then this is your place!! Beer bars are a favorite of mine. The great beer bars have a large bottle/can selection to complement a stellar draft list. The best beer bars have rare finds, surprises, and good prices. The Bier Stein is one of the best! When I arrived Blind Pig, the best IPA on planet earth is this humble boozehound's opinion, was #1 on the draft list. In addition there was Pliny, various locals, and every style pouring. In the cooler, which runs about 30 yards long you can find anything and everything your heart desires. There were even some Augustiner brews from Munich which I don't recall seeing anywhere else stateside. Regarding the food, they have it. I vaguely remember a pretzel and a meat and cheese board. The food is good, but the place is unnecessarily cramped and insanely overpriced. It's not a bad place to get food to go, so long as you're not on a budget. Their craft sodas, especially the orange, tastes like any store bought brand, so I recommend saving money and going to a store. read more
