So glad I decided to stop here on my way home or I would have never experienced one of the best key lime pies of my life. Not artificial colouring or dyes, just that creamy smooth custard-like filling with flecks of lime zest. The crust is soaked in some kind of honey-buttery syrup that was just so good. Marionberry and strawberry rhubarb were also delicious. I personally was not the biggest fan of the marionberry cream pie. The cream portion was cream cheese based, like a quick cheesecake, and I've never been super into those. It was one of my friend's favourites though. I also got a cup of clam chowder that was surprisingly good. It was a bit thick, but it had the best clam chowder flavour I've had in a long time. I like it better than Mo's. Excellent rainy day stop for pie and coffee. Daughter and I had to start out with a Sausage Lentil cup of soup which was outstanding and warmed us from the inside to the outside! Then came the pie! Hubby got the straight Marionberry and daughter and I got Tripleberry (a combination of Marionberry, Blueberry and Blackberry) and an accompanying cup of vanilla ice cream for all to split sent us all into warm pie heaven! What a special place! E has a rather large group stop here as a part of a Road Scholar trip. We didn't have time for a meal but we did have time for pie. Marionberry was my choice. They have so many choices it's hard to pick. Really great! They have a very cute gift shop as well and even berry chocolate bars. They offer a 24 hour vending machine with pie in it that you can call and ask them to add your favorite if you won't get there during their open hours! What a fun and delicious place! We stopped in for a late lunch. I had the best cheese burger I've had in years, seriously. Husband had the turkey club, also very good. My burger was 6" in diameter, Sesame seed bun, the meat was perfectly done, juicy, just a tiny bit crispy on the edges. Cheddar cheese melted to perfection, lettuce, huge slice of tomato, with just a little mayo & pickle relish. Side was potato salad rather than french fries, and I confirmed that they make their own salad; it was wonderful. Potatoes done just right and seasoned correctly. We will be stopping there again, any time we're on the way to Astoria. Just wish we'd had room for some of their wonderful looking/sounding pie. We stopped here for a bite to eat on a weekend road trip. It looked like a good spot from the outside. Very mom and pop. On the inside it was a little bit dark. There was a wonderful place in the back where you could see a woman actually making jam! There was a lot of jams and syrups for sale. Also some wood carvings from a local artist. We were seated at a booth near the front counter. It took a little while for a server to come over. We ordered our food. The meals arrived in good time. My husband had the chicken fried steak. He said that it was pretty tasteless. The meet was gray and the gravy not very tasty. His over easy eggs were delicious. Hashbrowns very generic. I chose the Reuben sandwich and opted for a salad instead of fries. The menu stated that they made their own corn beef. Turns out that they baked it there. It was pretty tasty. I love the added pie vending machine for after hours but I got charged an extra 19.90 because the pie door wouldn't open. Each time I tried to pull the door open it would add a charge to my card. We always drive by on our way up hwy 30 to Astoria. We stopped on a Sunday afternoon with (2) 10 yr olds. It was a "seat yourself" establishment and we were able to find one table for our group. The waiter came and took our order quickly. The milkshakes & sodas were delivered just as quick. Menu options included lunch & dinner. I selected a cheeseburger with homemade potato salad. The burger was okay but I loved the potato salad. Husband selected Chicken & Dumplings. The girls selected Fish & Chips & Cheeseburger with their Vanilla milkshakes. The location is easy peasy to get in and out on our way to Seaside, Canon Beach, Rockaway beach etc. it's definitely a good spot for tourists to stop, stretch their legs, and get some great pie BUT AND IT IS A BIG BUT, the low rating is totally a reflection of the server experience- THEY SUCK- they are miserable and unfriendly. I have been several times, I am always excited to stop on our road trip to the beach. It is obviously on the tourist route, and it would make it so much nicer to stop if the servers flipping smiled and were friendly. Ugh- it is a tradition to stop and get pie slices to go, but honestly the wait staff are so dreary and unwelcoming - and plain old RUDE. Why even be in the service industry if you hate it? Stopped in while traveling south from Seattle to...? I stopped because I had seen a billboard back about 16 miles before the restaurant and it advertised their homemade pies. I arrived and was greeted by the solo waitress who said I could sit anywhere, while she finished up with a take out pick up. They have a gift shop where they sell candles, jams and jellies, clothing and such. I sat in one of the diner style booths and decided on the Reuben sandwich. I later learned that I should have tried the Marionberry ice tea. The Reuben was just ok. A little light on the corned beef and on the sauerkraut. It came with a generous portion of fries which were hot and good. I asked about their pies and decided on the Marionberry pie and the Marionberry cream pie to-go. Soooo good! This was a refreshing stop on our way home from the beach. Simple menu but everything was well made and flavorful. Soup and pies are from scratch. Today's soup was chicken enchilada was really good but could benefit from some cheese. The Reuben was nice lean meat and advertised as locally made pastrami. The bread was grilled to perfection with the right amount of crunch. The Berry chicken salad just hit the right spot - refreshing vegetables, freshly grilled tender bites of chicken, and little pockets of salty flavor added by cheese and bacon. The pie... could not get over the flakiness of the crust. The marionberry cream was not listed on the board but oh my! Considering the very good reviews on here, I was expecting more. My wife and I stopped here for our first post-Covid meal, and I honestly wish I waited longer for a better meal. At first this place appeared to be super cute, with a little shop out front and pies for sale. We sat down, waited for a while, and ordered; I got the chicken fried steak, and my wife got the chicken and dumplings. Everything was very institutional, like food served at a soup kitchen on Thanksgiving; my wife especially was displeased with her food, and had to heavily season it to be palatable. I should have known it wouldn't be good when it was served within minutes of ordering...usually not a good sign (I also swear I heard a microwave dinging in the background.) My steak and potatoes were drowning in packet gravy, and the green beans tasted canned. To top it off, it was $25 for everything (before tip)! Like I said, the storefront is cute and I heard the pie is good, but we were so disgusted with our meal that we skipped dessert and left. Contrary to some very negative reviews here, our breakfast was decent and the server was delightful, cheery, and attentive. We almost didn't stop here because of the multiple comments about the surly and unpleasant staff. But we were so hungry when we got close, we decided we could handle a nasty server. Well, we're not sure why our experience was so different. 1. Different server? Did they fire the bitchy one? 2. Different customers? We went in determined to be super kind and sweet to our server, which usually works to calm someone who is overstressed. Whatever the reason, our server was upbeat and cheerful to everyone in the restaurant. The food was fine, but really only 3 1/2 to 4 stars; the extra star is for the great service. I'm all about fruit pies and their strawberry rhubarb is to die for. Just enough tart with the sweet and a flakey delicious crust. The crust gets high praise from my husband who compares all to his grandmas magical "how does she do it" crust. After eating their pie he guiltily admitted it was better, and I wholeheartedly agreed. I am not a cream pie fan but my husband insisted I try a bite some Marion berry cream and I was converted. It was like heaven in a bite. In the course of the last three months my husband and I have eaten about 5 whole pies from The Berry Patch. We are addicted. Stopped at this place randomly while driving from Astoria to PDX to Bend. Myself and my party all had breakfast and it was shockingly delicious and very large - easy to share with others. My friend and I split the Mexican omelette (OMG one of the best omelettes I've ever had) while others in our party had pancakes, bacon, and country fried steak and hash. We ranted and raved the whole time. While waiting for food, you can shop around the place for their jams, jellies, wines, artwork, and other products. As I was coming from NC, I couldn't purchase any products to take on the plane. The restaurant owners and staff graciously packed my products and shopped them to me, albeit it was super pricy ($50 for ~6 things). Overall, I couldn't be more pleased with stopping here for an exceptionally delicious breakfast before a big road trip. Highly recommend!! read more

If you get nothing else here, get the pie. Everything was good though. I was on a beach-ward drive on highway 30 from Portland. About Saint Helens I decided I was hungry. I saw a billboard about pie. I decided why not. That was an excellent decision. I walked in and the sign said seat yourself, so I did. Promptly a girl brought me a menu. As soon as I was done picking what I wanted she was back to take my order. Clam chowder to start, turkey cranberry cream cheese sandwich for a meal. Two minutes later she was back with my soup. The clam chowder was absolutely amazing. You would think being near the Oregon coast would mean there would be a lot of options for this kind of thing, unfortunately not so. Most places use way too much bacon. I could not taste any bacon in this. It tasted like real clam chowder with chunks of clams and delicious potatoes. Pleased I moved onto the sandwich. The turkey was moist and fresh, the toppings were also fresh. The cream cheese was ample and so was the cranberry sauce. The fries were delicious. I was all around absolutely impressed. It was moist enough while not being wet. The dining room itself was very small. You could easily hear what other people were talking about and some tables were louder than others which made it a little awkward. The waitress was aware of that and try to make it more comfortable. She was very good. It was cozy and quaint but in a good way. Exactly what you expect from a little diner on the side of the road. At the end of my meal the waitress asked if I wanted their pie. Why of course. I was already full but why not. It was amazing. The pastry was delicate while being substantial, the filling was so good I wonder how people could do that. I wish I could bake like this at home. Every bite was absolutely scrumptious. And they serve it with some delicious creamy ice cream. I highly suggest taking the time to make the stop here. The last guy ordered food to go, then I ordered a salad and the 3rd guy a Rueben. 2 of the 3 of us ordered sodas. Another table arrived 5 minutes later, a two top that changed to 3. They ordered and received drinks. I had not yet gotten my drink nor the other customer. Another 3 top showed up. Okay. This is where I get annoyed. The Togo order was ready first. 3 grilled burgers/sandwiches, then the reuban.... and the last table of threes food came .... my salad?!?!? Nowhere to be seen. Seriously.
