If you're ever anywhere near Cathlamet, do yourself a favor and stop at Patty Cake. We had a group of six, which can be a bit of a puzzle for a small café, but they didn't miss a beat. They quickly made space for us and welcomed us like we'd been coming there for years. The food? Incredible. My mom and dad ordered the Bunkhouse French Toast platter, my brother and husband went for the Wondering Burrito, I had the chicken bacon provolone melt, and my sister-in-law had a bagel sandwich. Every single plate came out generous, fresh, and absolutely delicious. The portions were big enough to make you consider loosening your belt, and worth every bite. But honestly, what made this place special wasn't just the food, it was the feeling. The staff served us with such genuine warmth, it felt more like being in someone's home than a restaurant. The café itself is charming, with a cute rustic vibe that adds to the whole experience. You can tell this is a true local favorite. People greeted each other, shared smiles, and even struck up friendly conversations with us. We got the restaurant was closed because on the website it said it closed early the day. But on Friday nights they run specials. Tonight they had Thai food and we had the red curry. It was absolutely delicious. My wife and I split the meal. The service is very friendly here. The prices are reasonable. The restaurant is really nice and clean and they've got more stuff and a good coffee bar. The picture should show how good the meal was. read more

This place is consistently fantastic! We always stop here for breakfast on our way to the WA coast. The food is delicious, and I love that they have gluten-free options, too. Most recently I had their gluten-free French toast with savory toppings (the Greek) and it was super yummy. I love the fresh ingredients and how their portion sizes are healthy/reasonable, so I can clean my plate without feeling guilty, but still full, and not have to deal with leftovers. Their prices are quite reasonable as well. The staff and owner are always so nice & friendly, too. read more

Adorable little cafe with a bakery case chock full of tasty offerings greets you as you walk in. I ordered a chai & partner ordered a dirty chai. Both were perfect temp, balanced sweet & spicy. We also ordered skillet scrambles. Amazing! And I know this sounds weird, but I get excited when my food is a perfect circle. I left with a full belly completely satisfied. The staff were very attentive and kind. I will definitely stop by here again next time I visit Cathlamet. read more

We stopped in for a cup of coffee and a scone on our way to the ferry. The service was first rate during a moderately busy time. The seating is a bit cramped although groups of 4 or so can be accommodated. The cafe was bright and clean with a clean restroom. They serve a variety of coffee's all made to order and well done. A good spot for a cup and a bite to snack on. read more

This place is a tad too yuppified for my tastes but I did give them five stars. Here's why. I visit Cathlamet several times a year and have been doing so for eons. Nice, warm, sunny dead of Winter day so I headed down the highway in the Green Hornet. I sometimes go as far as Oysterville on Long Beach. Today I just went as far as Skamokawa. Walking around with my Nikon I came across this cute girl who was also a photographer. She shoots with a Canon but I won't hold that against her. A little chat, a little flirt..... I'm way too old to flirt with a skirt but.... asked her if she's like to have a coffee and chat. She smiles and said sure and Patty's was right around the corner so off we go. Patty's has outdoor seating (very European). Very nice breakfast. Or I guess it was more of a Sunday brunch. Not the super filling lumberjack breakfasts but the fare was tasty and filling. The coffee was VERY good and being a serious coffee snob that's mostly what I care about. Had a very nice visit and unlike many places no one was cleaning our little table and trying to shoo us off ten minutes after we got there. This place has been here for a little while if I recall correctly. Maybe a year or two? Perhaps longer. The businesses on the main drag all seemed to go under at around that same time many years ago and it wasn't until recently that the "downtown" area revitalized. It's all quite nice on main street now. Pattys is right on the corner before you head off to Puget Island. read more

Came here for breakfast after staying here for a wedding. Patty herself was working the joint solo, cooking, cleaning, making coffee, washing dishes, and just absolutely crushing it! Food was awesome, got the breakfast panini, husband and daughter got the scramble and we finished it all. I also got a coconut cream latte, and honestly, it was the best coffee I've ever had! Thanks so much for being amazing and serving us some delicious food and drinks! If we ever come back to Cathlamet we will definitely be coming back to Patty Cakes!! read more

What a cool little place for coffee and a meal. I thought it was just going to be a latte and a snack but there is a nice menu with some very delicious offerings. We had the sourdough pancakes, a breakfast burrito, Patty Whack (pancakes and eggs), an Americano and a Latte. The wife and I enjoyed our food and drinks. I was wanting to get a crepe too but by the time I finished eating the first round I was pretty much full, so next time. We also got a cinnamon roll and a puff pastry to go as they looked pretty good sitting there in the display case...and they were fantastic! I am surprised that my wife shared! Sometimes in a small town you find that the options are slacking due to less competition, but this place has great food, great drinks, delicious pastry and baked goods. We loved our experience there. It was also fun to just take our time eating and then staring out the window for twenty minutes to just enjoy the view of the town and bridge. Then we had a nice conversation with the owner. Great gal. Down to Earth, friendly and kind. Just a great place, with a great person running it and an awesome employee working the kitchen side of things. Would recommend! Even if you are thinking to just drive through and not stop, take the time to grab a coffee drink and snack for the road. You can even get smoothies! It's nice that there is a breakfast/lunch and coffee spot for folks to go locally. As I enjoyed my food and drink, I worked remotely and watched folks shuffle in and out. I'd love to provide a better rating but a few things were less than what I would hope for. First was the food itself. The crepes are more eggy than flour. That was fine, I like both types. But the meat lovers crepe didn't really hit the spot. The eggs were a bit over cooked. And the whole dish was underwhelming. Second was the fact that I asked if I could have some drip coffee in my latte cup after I drank my latte. I was charged for a cup of coffee. I feel like once you've paid $6 for a latte a cup of drip should be free. Third was a conversation about mask wearing that didn't sit well with me. Staff were not wearing masks and were happy that a customer had complimented their choice. It's important to support local small businesses. I hope that my next visit is more enjoyable. Maybe I'll just stick with a cup of coffee. read more

Nice little cafe. We had a good crumpet & crepe breakfast and a coffee/espresso that were very good as well. Spoke with a Thai lady (owner?) that was working there and she was getting ready to begin preparing Thai food for later on in the afternoon. I had the caramel apple crêpe. It was a culinary delight. Crêpe with the Apple center and drizzled caramel on top. Came with orange slice, spearmint leaf, and grapes. Great flavors together. This is got to be the hub of Cathlamet. Lots of locals to come in and get coffee. It's the only place you can get breakfast on a Friday. read more

Wow! Our group had such a great experience! We can't wait to visit again. We had a large group and they were able to accommodate for us. Melissa and the other staff was so kind and patient with us! The pancakes were delicious- from a 100 year old sourdough starter! The gluten free options were also very nice. The crepes, crumpets, and breakfast burrito were all hits, too! But let me tell you about the Pacific Northwest Panini- absolutely phenomenal! I loved the light and delicious combination of flavors. Also had the Milky Way latte- such a great cup of coffee! On a recent road trip my beloved and I were hungry and I since we are on Keto I brought snacks but I looked and looked and couldn't find them. So we were driving through Cathlamet and decided to stop at Patty Cakes Cafe. I noticed they serve Keto coffee so I was hopeful and boy was I super happy. They have a customizable scramble menu! I got mushroom, spinach, roasted red pepper and avocado with double cheese. Everything was fresh and perfectly cooked. The coffee was great black for me but they had cream and stevia sweeteners and syrups if thats your thing. Hubby had the breakfast burrito which he said was absolutely delicious and he commented several times how much he loved the salsa. Our waitress was great and she reported that she eats the scramble and a cheese slider with prosciutto for lunch. I will try that next time. I am so very happy we lost our snacks and found this treasure. read more

NOT WEARING MASK CORRECTLY. We stopped in yesterday for coffee and a treat. These were good, but the barista had her mask under her nose. In retrospect I wish we had walked out instead of taking the risk. Correct mask coverage is critical in food service. Please correct this for the sake of your community. read more

i Was beyond disappointed while stopping by this morning. Patty was so far from friendly or professional. My son accidentally said milkshake instead of smoothie and she snapped at him that she doesn't serve milkshakes. She screwed up our order because she was too busy talking to other customers, talking over us. Her prices are over the top for the poor quality of her food. We have been here a few times and have been consistently unimpressed with customer service, food quality and lack of mask requirements and will most likely not go back. read more

Camping nearby and we were looking for a place for breakfast. Found this online and decided to try it. Great decision on our part. Late's, two pancakes and bacon on the side. Prepared perfectly. I suggest you ask the waitress to warm the syrup before serving. Cold syrup on hot cakes not a good combination but one may overlook that cause the food out weight it. Highly recommend read more

Specialties

We are a cute quaint internet cafe in the heart of downtown Cathlamet Washington. We offer fresh artisan roasted coffee that the owner perfected in 2002, in Columbia County, Oregon, just across the river. We serve coffee, espresso and pastries. We serve four signature breakfast item. Crepes, Crumpets, French Toast which come sweet or savory and Breakfast Panini’s. Our lunch menu is perfectly grilled panini’s served with kettle chips, boom boom pineapple slaw or fruit. Our Coffee will be roasted on site in the near future.

History

Established in 2018.

The owner, Patty previously owned and operated Express Lane Espresso & Log Cabin Coffee in St. Helens and Scappoose Oregon, which she sold in 2011. This endeavor has been a life long dream to own a small internet cafe, serving artisan coffee, pastries and signature menu items utilizing local farmers, dairies and purveyors. We rented the building on May 1, 2018. In just 8 weeks this hard work and dream came to pass.

Meet the Manager: Patty V.

Patty is the owner and manager. She has over 40 years of experience in the restaurant and food service industry. She successfully owned and operated three drive through espresso shops. She also started her own coffee roasting and baking company in 2002. She sold those business on 2011. Today they are still thriving in Scappoose Oregon.

It's casual, cozy, and just has that small-town charm where you instantly feel comfortable. Our coffee and waters were always filled right on time (which I love). And let's talk about the prices... better than anywhere else in town! We usually split a meal, but this time we didn't have to -- we both got our own. I had the homemade pot roast and wow... melt-in-your-mouth delicious. So much flavor, creamy mashed potatoes, perfectly cooked carrots, and a roll. It's a special through tomorrow night so don't miss out! Total delicious, comfort food. Hubby had the French Dip and didn't leave a single bite. He barely let me have a bite to try it out. Then the mocha cream pie... and yes, I took a bite before getting a picture because it was THAT tempting. No regrets so no judgement on the picture. One of our favorite things about Corner Café is Sherri. She always comes over to say hi, remembers us and our past conversations, and truly makes us feel like family in her home. That kind of love and service is rare. We're posting pics of the food and the new dinner menu -- go try it. You'll be glad you did!
