Heard a lot of rave reviews about this kosher dairy place and after ordering food from them twice, have to agree that all of these reviews were on point. Both orders were delivery but everything we ordered was cooked fast, packed extremely carefully and all dishes arrived piping hot and tasting incredibly fresh and delicious. Portions are big enough to share, food is full of flavor, seasoned superbly and obviously made from premium quality ingredients. Mushroom & Cheese stuffed baked potato is definitely 1 of the ultimate comfort foods for many and The Bay Cafe's version was a true perfection with lots of yummy melted cheese, great tasting mushrooms mixed in with scooped potatoes insides. 10 out of 10 for sure! Beets & Quinoa salad was an excellent combo of different fresh veggies, nuts, fruits and feta cheese, resulting in a fabulous mix of sweet and savory plus adding a raspberry vinaigrette as a dressing brought it all to a very satisfying explosion of flavor. Definitely a Must Get Salad! Another 10 out of 10. Lastly we got Maryland style Crab Cakes, made with imitation crab meat but it didn't diminish the taste at all. This dish comes with 2 large pieces of Crab Cakes, served on a bed of fresh arugula and lots of cherry tomatoes with a side of delectable homemade tartar sauce. Crab Cakes were crunchy outside, juicy and tender inside, had a unique taste and was truly amazing. All in all-very satisfying experience, would love to try more dishes from their vast menu and dine there in person. read more

Hidden Gem in Sheepshead Bay/Manhattan Beach Everything here was made from scratch and absolutely delicious! We had the Fish Tacos to share, Eggplant Parm, and Gnocchi with Mushroom Sauce. The sauces tasted amazing and you could tell everything was made with love. For dessert, we split a Lemon Curd Cheesecake that was by far the best cheesecake we had ever had! I heard so much about this place before coming here and it surpassed my expectations! I wish I'd have gotten our server's name because he was excellent--very friendly, helpful, not pushy but not absent. The food was very good. My husband loved the mozzarella sticks and the porcini crusted sea bass was divine! When we got the bill I was surprised to see how low it was despite all we ordered--they are *very* well priced! Came here on a Sunday around 640PM and felt that this place was very rude. This could have been because they were a bit busy in the kitchen or I came in wearing short shorts or that I don't seem to be in the clientele they are aimed towards, but I waited at the counter for 5 solid minutes in clear view of staff and someone who looked like the boss and no one addressed me - they all saw me. Finally one of the staff who saw me, a girl, came to the counter, but when I ordered an item off the menu (fresh squeezed orange juice) the girl went to ask and that "boss guy" said something I barely made out, but it sounded like something along the lines of "no" or "not right now," but more in like a can't-be-bothered way so she came back and told me they didn't have any and if I wanted juice, it would not be of the fresher squeezed variety and instead it would come from the fridge. It was fine, I got something else, but thought maybe they were newer and didn't have the machines yet so I asked when it would been available and she said "oh like today?" and I asked if I couldn't get it just because it was busy/no one wanted to make it and she looked a little embarrassed and said yes because it was busy. I'm a bit disgusted by this experience. I feel like a customer is a customer and at the very least, I could've been told the truth or asked if I would be willing to wait (even if it was a long time) - at least then I would've felt like I was given the choice and not pushed aside because they were making other people's food. I live in Manhattan Beach and would've loved to have another place to go to close to home, but not recommending this place to anyone. read more

The atmosphere and service are not bad. The food, however, would be overpriced at half the cost. Nothing was awful, but nothing was good. Wine selection is bad. I left unsatisfied and see no reason to go back. I would recommend looking for something else. read more

This spot has a huge front terrace for outdoor seating with an extensive menu so everyone can find something to eat. We got the fish and chips, a salad and a panini, for the 3 of us. Lots of food and it was delicious and cooked perfectly! Couldn't be happier! Very accommodation waitress, friendly srltaff, and a clean restaurant. I would rate it at a 4.5 if I knew how. The service is slow-no way around that fact but the service is great. Ali was our waiter and couldn't have been more helpful and friendly, as was his busboy Oscar. Ruby the manager was also on the floor helping. The split pea soup was huge as was the broccoli and cheese baked potato. My husband enjoyed his 3 beautiful fish tacos.My cousin enjoyed her eggplant parmigana while I enjoyed the homemade yummy french fries and portobello panini. The presentation of the cheescake was beautiful-more like a high end restaurant-and tasted delicious. The prices considering that it is a kosher restaurant and the size of the portions are not bad. ZERO STARS. Was so excited to have a kosher place open close to place of work. Buy things from here often. Came in, used the restroom quickly then wanted to buy water for my long subway commute home. They were out. As I was about to leave, the guy behind the counter insisted I pay for using the bathroom! I explained I am a regular paying customer and was there that morning when I bought water and a potato boreka. He continued to insist I pay for the bathroom! I walked out disgusted and will never return again. What a disgrace and the food is barely mediocre. read more

My positive experience of this restaurant is the diametric opposite of the negative experiences described by two other yelp reviewers. My wife Lois and I ate here several months ago and had a great time. The proprietors, Larisa and Steve, have done a great job of renovating what used to be a non-kosher take-out deli owned by Larisa. They have turned it into a first-class kosher dairy restaurant, complete with a full-time on-premises mashgiach, a friendly person named Yaakov. The delicious food, from an extensive menu, is made by chef Billy; and our waitress, Ksenia, could not have been nicer. The two bathrooms are clean and well maintained. My only reservation is that some of the dishes, such as the pickled veggies, are somewhat spicy, at least to my taste; if spiciness is a concern, I suggest you ask about a dish before you order it. read more

The food is always excellent, and one leaves satisfied. We have been fans from the beginning. The ambience is generally low key; unusual for a kosher restaurant. That's why we were so excited when they announced a live jazz night. Good food? Check. Fairly priced? Check. Ambience? Check. Of course the owner and chef would understand "live jazz." Uncheck. The acoustics, easily fixed, were lousy. The music wasn't remotely jazz; a mix of original music (captive audience), Beatles, and Dean Martin (Google him). I was in sheepshead bay with my family and I noticed that there was a kosher joint on the corner of shore rd and Neptune ave. I was curious and I decided to check it out. There were nice tables set up outdoors and I saw a good amount of patrons sitting outside. The owner and her staff were quick to seat us and that was the start of a fantastic meal. We ordered everything the owner recommended, and let me tell you, she was right on the money. We ordered, the tuna kimchi poke, the maple ginger salmon, fish and chips, split pea soup, two sushi rolls, a Greek salad, and a Kani salad. These portions were quite generous. First off and my favorite part of this whole experience was the fact that they accommodated for a gluten-free diet, as someone who suffers from celiac disease, it's very hard to find places who accommodate for a gluten-free diet. The tuna kimchi poke, without the special sauce (I used spicy mayo instead), was so delicious, their Kimchi was to die for. The maple ginger salmon, was presented very nicely in a glass cover unveiling all the smoke, which smelled like heaven. They had 2 sides with that, sushi rice, and gluten-free French fries! My wife and kids enjoyed their fish and chips, she said they were as good as in New England. The Greek salad and split pea soup were both delicious. And to top it all off, for dessert, we had the creme brûlée, tiramisu in a cup, and a lemon curd mascarpone cheesecake. My family loved each, but for me specifically I enjoyed the creme brûlée. My daughter and a friend went out to the Bay Cafe in Brooklyn to celebrate a birthday. They charged $22 for a portion of 5 raviolis. When they asked to send it back because the potion was extremely small for the price, they brought out the owner who was extremely rude and disrespectful and refused to take it back or replace it and said it would come out of her waiters' salaries and essentially guilted them into keeping it. Sunday brunch time we had a fantastic meal. Everything was delicious and reasonably priced, as others have reported. I never knew this restaurant is kosher Cholov Yisroel, so glad to find it! Not fancy inside though they do have tablecloths. Service was also excellent, our waiter answered all questions in detail to help us decide. Entrees we got Fish 'n Chips and Turbot. I am from New England and only the best fish places served both this way -- the fried one: thick chunks of beer-battered cod served with crispy russet fries and vinegar, the baked/broiled turbot flaky though not mushy. I have tried these types of fish at many other kosher places and this was among the best, at the same time being the best value. Can't go wrong esp if you're in the area. Only thing, i wish you could see outside for a view when you eat inside. nope. Also there is a Holocaust memorial just across the street near the water if you have time to walk over. Enjoy. read more
