I made a holiday party reservation for 10 in person weeks ago for a holiday party at Urbana as I have an Orthodox person working for me so I feel it's only right to try and have our annual holiday party at a Kosher restaurant. I was accommodated with ease and confirmed via text. The restaurant offers a limited beer and wine menu but patrons can bring their own alcohol which is a tremendous victory. The team put us in a private room and the chef came to visit us on several occasions. Service was very friendly. I was speak with the chef and he made several recommendations including his homemade pasta. We started off with several pizzas and they were good. Fresh ingredients and we aren't expecting Difara or Roberta's here but they were solid. A few guests had the Salmon for their mains and it was not left over so that was a good sign. I had the pappardelle with a mushroom cream sauce and much to my surprise it was excellent. The pappardelle was definitely homemade and the variety of the mushrooms made it stand out. I didn't have dessert but the apple crumble looked wonderful and again no leftovers so that is a good sign. It is kosher so you know price points are going to be a minimum of 25 percent higher. Entrees are anywhere from $30-$45 and are modest if not fair. Pizzas are in the $20-$25 range which seems to be par for the course now. Parking is a disaster but being that we all work it Brooklyn we understand and give ourselves ample time. By the time we were leaving at 8pm the restaurant was packed. When I visited to make the reservation it was early afternoon and the restaurant had a large Brunch crowd. Clearly Urbana is doing it right and it will definitely be a contender for next year's party. read more

4.5 stars, great artisan comfort food (e.g., handmade pasta and artisan pizza with a stuffed crust, wide variety of fish options) and generous portions for sharing. The ambiance was on the quieter side yet very modern, and the service was attentive, with the staff accommodating specific requests. One of the dishes took a little longer to make than anticipated and they remedied it without me even bringing it up. Despite initial doubts based off of some of the reviews here, I'm glad I gave it a chance and would return with a large group. 20% gratuity auto-added, but there were no additional add-on fees. Recommend taking public transportation or booking a ride, boro park has awful parking. My only feedback: the restaurant's website isn't working right now so I had to do a lot of digging via google and instagram to find a sample menu in advance. Let me start off by saying the inside of the restaurant is absolutely stunning. It's spacious, chic, modern, and a lovely setting. The food is quite good as well. I got the Funghi Papardelle Carbonara. You could tell the pasta was homemade pasta. The sauce was creamy, rich, and flavorful. I also liked the variety of mushrooms used-portobello, cremini, etc. Unfortunately, it was like $30. The person I was with got a pizza and enjoyed it. We shared the mushroom risotto. It tasted good but the portion was extremely small. Like really small. Definitely not worth $19. Overall, I was pleased with the food, but I think it's very pricey. To top it all off, a 20% hospitality fee was added to our check, which added an additional $14. I've never heard of a hospitality fee in my life! At the bottom of the check it says the hospitality fee is NOT a tip/gratuity. Also, this was the first restaurant I've been to in NYC where none of the staff-servers or cooks were wearing masks, so that was a bit concerning. read more

No human being can feel full after leaving the restaurant. The most overpriced and undersized portions I have ever seen. We made a reservation here, to celebrate a special occasion. Upon walking in, the maître d' was not at his post. So a waiter, directed us (with his pointer finger) to a table for two. We were quickly reminded that we were in BROOKLYN NY. There was an effort into establishing a fine dining ambience here, but not successfully (in my opinion). The food and service were fair at best. The server was quick and moving at NY speed. Clearly seemed like this was not owner operated. That seems to be the key to a successful restaurant, when its owner operated. Such as Glatt A La Carte, such as Mint, even the pizza store with the owner behind the counter tends to a better experience than a place that's run by minimum wagers and illegal immigrants. read more

Food was good, ambiance was really nice. I think the pastas were made by hand. The service at first seemed attentive but then the food started coming out and that's when this restaurant fell apart. The timing couldnt be more off. Bringing out entrees with appetizers is not a good way to run a restaurant. The whole point of spacing out the food is to eat each course while it's still hot. There was also no room on the table since dishes from 2 courses were on the table at the same time for the whole meal, so we had to rush and we were not able to enjoy our food. read more

Tonight was my first time at Urbana. The parking is so unpleasant so I would definitely suggest coming 20 min ahead of reservation time or the time you want to eat because you will need that time. Decor is beautiful. Truly stunning. The service is honestly the reason the place gets 4 stars. The moment we walked in they said "sit anywhere but not here and here and here" why don't you just seat us? And we pick a table. It's not set with a place setting. He puts down cups and plates but forgets to wipe down the tables from all the crumbs before. Honest mistake so I let it go. The waiter was affable. He was very brief and not very professional or well trained. There's a difference between being pleasant but knowledgeable versus saying "the salad has a bunch of different veggies". We got 4 dishes for 3 people and we left with leftovers. We aren't huge eaters so this would be ideal for 2-3 big eaters. We got the rustic salad (underwhelmed, underdressed), the smoked tuna tacos (very good. Fish was fresh. Taco was crunchy. Slaw on the side was not amazing), truffle string beans (amazing, must try!), and the Greek pizza (excellent). Would definitely come back and try some other items. My friend and I had a lovely dinner tonight at Urbana. We ordered the Caesar salad which was supposed to have avocado balls. I didn't see avocado but the salad was tasty, but nothing special. We then ordered a spinach appetizer in a vodka sauce which the gracious waitress recommended. It was really good. For the entrée we ordered gnocchi with chestnuts and mushrooms in a cream sauce. It was delicious but we had to ask for the chestnuts which they forgot to put in. It was worth the hassle. I definitely look forward to going back. The service was fast and efficient read more

The place wasn't busy at all. And we didn't get good service. It took them at least 10 min to get our water refilled. Than they offered new dish that is not even on the menu and was horrible but they advertise as the most amazing dish. It was our second time there and service is super slow. 2 people only serving but they are super slow And margarita pizza is salty. read more

BUT, our food was a little more pricier than expected and to be honest, wasn't that great. I was in the neighborhood and looked for a spot to feed the family and I stumbled upon Urbana. The place is nice and clean. The menu sounded good so I figured let's give it a try. The Food was decent. The 4 cheese gnocchi was good. My kids enjoyed it. The pizza which they claimed to be margherita was no margherita. It was a basic oily cheese small pizza for 22$ Not fresh mozzarella and basil. But the kids were good with it. So I didn't complain. The Caesar salad is no Caesar salad. It's a fake Caesar. Caesar is romaine lettuce dressing croutons and Parmesan cheese. They put mixed green and cherry tomatoes and some fries avocado balls. Very weird! I got the pistachio crusted salmon which was good but not for 35$ The Service was nothing special as well. I think kosher restaurants need to step it up with their service. Where do I begin ? no one answers the phone so you can't make a reservation. No one responds to the emails either. We were ignored by a blonde waiter standing in the front of the restaurant when we walked in. The maitre d seated us. It took ten mins to get a menu . We ordered three apps 4 mains a milk shake and a daiquiri . We got the pizza and fries quickly . Ten mins later my daughter got her rustic salad sans the cheese and five minuscule pieces of sweet potato . My branzino was clearly tilapia. They brought us someone else's pasta. At the end of the meal they finally brought my husbands pasta (which the waiter had forgotten and had been sitting on the counter ) and the spring rolls which we had canceled Bec they were taking so long to come . Not to mention they were absolutely awful . They then brought us another order of fries which we didn't order . We tried to get our waiters attention several times. At one point he started walking to our table when the blonde waiter literally pulled him over to a table of seven young women . Between the bad food and awful service , I can assure you we won't be back. My wife and I had dinner here last week with another couple who are close friends of ours. Everyone enjoyed the delicious food and benefited from the excellent service. As I am a vegetarian, I will discuss the vegetarian dishes only. We shared the wild mushroom polenta; the chestnut gnocchi; and a Margarita pizza. Once again a big shout out to Urbana, Sam took great care of us and the food was beyond! We had a lot of our favorites from last time which were consistent and delicious. We also decided to try the Polenta which was a revelation on polenta, I have made it and eaten it many times but this is a whole new take and a delectable one at that. It was creamy, almost soupy, with a fresh corn flavor and the flavor of Parmesan and fresh cream was divine, that with the chewy, juicy mushrooms came together in a really sumptuous dish. We also decided to try the Ocean Crudo Tostada which was the ultimate bite, it was balanced, creamy, crunchy, it it on all the tastes you want, umami, sweet, salty, sour... like I said the ultimate bite. I was dining with someone who had never had raw fish and Sam our waitress recommended this, and she was so spot on, my friend tried raw fish for the first time and loved it! We also tried a couple of new desserts the creme brûlée and the pink merengue...They have the best creme brûlée I have ever had (better than my own I'm sad to say) and the pink merengue dessert was unexpected and divine, the hazelnut chocolate sauce is like liquid ferro rocher... The decor and service were top notch, but I wouldn't let that influence me, if the food wasn't tops as well. Three of us went to celebrate my birthday. Everything we ate was delicious. The creme Bulee was the best I ever had. 1 miss though- don't order the cheesecake bites. What a waste! I went to Urbana recently for the first time. The decor is beautiful, the food was tasty. I was satisfied with the staff. These are the pluses. The minuses: We came at a non busy time. The restaurant was half empty. I was told my fish (salmon) would take 20 minutes. It took 45 minutes at least. I had to eat with my friends already having finished their meal. Although the food was good, you can get much better portions, without sacrificing the quality, in other restaurants with similar price points. And finally, I ordered a bowl of plain Penne for my 3 year old. What we received is roughly a cups worth of plain Penne. When the bill came, we saw that they charged us $28 for the cup of plain Penne. $28!!!!! The reason? It was considered a "custom order". The audacity. I tried handling this Penne situation privately, but I have so far been ignored. I was not looking for a refund, just a change in policy for future diners. read more

But that's all your paying for, we ordered the gnocchi which is a main and the portion size was less than what should be for an appetizer. Pepper tuna was most perfectly prepared tuna I've ever tasted. Bathroom was pristine; truly amazing with a sign requesting guests inform management if it needed attention. Too full for desert. Beautiful decor (the owners are former architects!) and beautifully plated - and delicious - food. The prices are high and the portions are small but the overall experience is one of excellent fine dining. Go with a crowd and order lots of dishes for tasting so you can get a real sense of the menu. Desserts were less impressive but I am a pastry chef by hobby so it's tough for me to be impressed. Way overpriced, was there with the same kosher client of mine (who takes me a large number of these establishments in Brooklyn), got some kind of spaghetti that cost $17 and I finished in 3 minutes and was still hungry, it was TINY!, a 3 year old would eat more. Place does look good and fancy, parking is horrible, I took the train, wait staff try to be professional, but food is very disappointing in quantity and to a lesser extent quality, youll leave hungry. read more

The Mac+Cheese balls (3 of them) were good but did not live up to the hype. The fritters (large bowl) were excellent. We had 3 salads, all were OK, decent portion sizes and no complaints. The pastas were just poor. We had the off menu fettucini a la vodka for the kids and the basic linguini with marinara sauce with cheese. The Fettucini and sauce did not pair well, the marinara sauce was too heavy. We got it for the kids (there is no kids menu) but they just didn't like it and the adults didn't either. The french fries was a very small portion for $8 and felt overcooked. We got two pizzas - the blanco pizza was very good, but the eggplant 4 ways was bad. One of the ways is smoked, which does not mean burned, however every bite had a burned sensation. The waiter was excellent, took it away and removed the charge. We got 3 fish dishes. The crusted salmon was very good, the sea bass tasty (but very small), the pan seared salmon kind of basic with no real added taste. The cheese cake desert was a waste of time but the tiramisu was spectacular. All in all, an ok experience but I would not got back. We did not leave fully satiated. When comparing to our recent experience in Pescada, there really is not much to talk about. We left Pescada stuffed and really enjoyed everything they had. The bills were comparable but much bigger portion sizes with better taste. However, Pescada was much louder and not as nice with the ambiance. read more
