Bagels here were surprisingly amazing for the location being in Arizona. The bagels are huge and the service is friendly and quick. I was in and out of there with two bagel sandwiches within five minutes. I ordered the egg bagel, which was full of variety of seeds and had cheese and egg on it. Nice selection of juices and sodas. I'm so disappointed. This used to be the best bagel shop in town and now I can barely give it three stars. My bagel was refrigerator cold. There was minimal cream cheese on it. Let me preface this by saying I'm an east coast bagel girl. And a traditionalist of sorts when it comes to bagels. I'm also the frequent "duchess" of the Chompies near me. For the first time in over a decade I found myself in the south Phoenix area before 8 a.m., so I used the opportunity to try the Bagel Man. I've made a couple of other mid-morning attempts but was always too late. Service was prompt and friendly. The owner tried joking with the person in line before me, but I think the joke was lost on him. I felt a bit like I was in a Seinfeld episode because of that mis-interaction. I got a half dozen to-go - three everything, three sesame. They were huge! Like the size of my hand huge! I was then stuck in I-10 traffic going north in rush hour, so I reached into the bag to tear off a piece of a bagel. I was surprise to find the bagel was somewhat "crusty" but very fluffy inside. I likened it to a big like a French bread bagel. It had a nice crunch, was but surprisingly soft and light inside. Traffic was bad; I ate it all. Once home, I toasted up another one and added my preferred topping (vegan margarine). It was good, but continued to be a bit too French bread-ish for my preferences. And I hadn't factored in how big it was after having already eaten one in the car. So, I will stick with Chompies, but it's nice to have finally tried them! read more

This is THE BEST bagel shop and the loveliest people who run it. A small business at its best, the bagels are perfection, and it's always so busy, which is always a great sign about the quality. I usually just buy a baker's dozen - variety of 12 fresh bagels - so my order is usually very simple. The owner sometimes throws in an extra bagel. Please note that they close when they have run out and that is always in the morning, so don't leave it too late or you'll miss it. It's a great local bagel shop, highly recommended! read more

9/6/25: Finally popped in to The Bagel Man this particular Saturday, what a fun time! From the second we walked in the door, the vibe made us feel like we were greeting long-lost-family. The gentleman behind the counter was boisterous, cracking jokes left & right, gobbling like a turkey (trying to persuade me to order that particular bagel breakfast sandwich - it worked). Ha! It is a tight spot, no sitting inside, and only a few chairs/tables outside. They have a lot of classic items in front of their counters (stereos, phone, etc); that was fun to peruse through while we waited. The sandwiches came out quickly & luckily a table was available outside. While we were woofing down the delightful food, a guy came out & started speaking with us. Turns out, he was the cook. Great guy & it was so enlightening to talk to him about the bagels, the store in general, how they're made (by hand!!), all that jazz. After speaking with him, we definitely came away with a higher appreciation of all the work that family does to make such wonderful food. If you haven't tried The Bagel Man, you are missing out. As bagel aficionados, we're always looking for the ideal bagel shop. The Bagel Man is dead on! This Mom & Pop outfit put out some awesome looking, delicious tasting and wholesomely beautiful bagels. Thank you Owner/Chef Kal Salih for bringing the essence, taste and memories of my childhood home of NYC to Phoenix. I never, ever, ever thought I'd be tasting these flavors again - but here you are, and so are we. Although its origins may date as far back as the 13th Century, this unique form of bread of yeasted dough, craftily hand shaped, boiled and beautifully baked is an art form that crossed the pond to the Americas thanks to late 19th century Jewish migration - thank you! And thank you again Kal Salih, the Bagel Man for giving Phoenix the real taste of bagels. We will spread the word, as well as keep coming back for more, and more, and more. read more

Some reviewers will give places higher ratings based on quantity. The Bagel Man deserves high ratings on QUALITY, Quantity, and value. These bagels are huge, authentic and reasonably priced. It is almost like walking into a NY bagel shop. I drove 30 mins to try them, a couple days later, I made the adventure again. Sometimes you just crave a good bagel and The Bagel Man delivered I ordered the Lox on an everything bagel, served with red onion slices. I usually liked this bagel dressed more like with capers or tomatoes and I think it is typically served with this looking at the menu, but the bagel itself was so fluffy! Happened to be on this side of town so had to stop by and check this place out. The owner and workers were so sweet and fast. They even gave us two free bagels to take! It's official. The bagel man has officially debunked the myth that you need Good water to make good bagels. He's out here in the middle of the desert making some of the best bagels I would put any of the places on the East Coast to shame! Five stars isn't enough. I'm a New Yorker by birth, lived in Florida, and I've eaten a lot of bagels. I never thought I'd say this, but these bagels are hands-down better than any New York bagel I've ever had. Perfect chew, incredible flavor, and clearly made with care. I loved everything about this bagel place. It was simple and easy to choose from. The service was fantastic. Not sure what is more cold here, the bagels or the customer service. Like others have mentioned, you'll be rushed despite there being no line. That rush is evident in the flavors of the bagels. I wouldn't even mind the rude customer service if the bagels were actually good, but they're painfully average. read more

Tucked into an unassuming strip mall, The Bagel Man is a no-frills bagel shop that serves the most mouth watering bagels. Only open 5am-11am daily, this place is known to sell out or have limited varieties the closer you come in to closing. Sadly, I did arrive about 10:30 and most of the bagels were gone and the chive cream cheese had just run out. I opted for a plain bagel toasted with plain cream cheese to go. The woman at the counter was friendly and since I was the only one in there my bagel came up quick. At first glance, my bagel was quite larger than most bagel shops with a crisp crust outside and a chewy inside making it one of the most true New York style bagels around. I definitely recommend stopping by and wished I lived closer. But if I am ever in the area I will sneak on over, hopefully well before closing, and try some of their other flavor of bagels. read more

I have never been to this bagel shop. On a very hard day out with my young son trying to start the day with some light and happiness over what we had been feeling, we stopped here on a whim. What an incredible experience to go in and be greeted with singing, joy and a sense that all was right in the world again. The man behind the counter handing my son a cinnamon raisin bagel before we had even made it to the front of the line. The owner, a sweet woman was quick to take our order, I ordered more than we needed because of the cheerfulness of the people working. The man sang to my son a song made up on the spot just for him and before we left he threw in another bagel with a welcome to come back anytime and big smiles. What a rare and cherished spot I feel this will be for me and my family. Customer service far above what I have seen in years! Worth the drive. Worth the money and the bagels are best we've ever tasted. Skip all the other breakfast spots in town and you won't be disappointed when you come here. read more

This place has huge bagels that are very good. Unfortunately the attitude from them is awful. You really have to have tough skin to handle their type of customer service. I walked in and asked for an everything bagel with cream cheese before I could finish my order the lady was already making it. Not sure what the rush was, there were only 2 other people there. Next thing I know I'm handed two bagels, not even toasted because they don't seem to care to hear you talk. I didn't even order two bagels. They really need to slow down and take correct orders. I left with my cold ass bagel and I couldn't even finish half of it. As good as they are, I'm not one to have tough skin to bare the service. read more

I love a tasty egg and cheese bagel and this place served up exactly what I needed. I called ahead as I was ordering 9 of them for family! The customer service was incredibly refreshing! When people say New Yorkers come across rude or abrupt- well this place will out customer service any Arizonan I've met. It was lovely! We eventually had to flag a different waiter down who was able to help us place the order and service us for the rest of our visit, she also informed us that this other "Waiter" was supposed to help us but she wasn't sure why she never made an attempt to do so after having us wait 20 mins and other tables were being serviced. We ordered Flordian French Toast and Elote Breakfast Burrito (plus a couple sides and drink) which were both really good, and filling. Prices weren't too bad for what we ordered and was able to take our mind off of the rather long wait to get helped. We spotted this delightful little cafe where we were welcomed warmly and our waitress explained how things worked. I placed our orders at the counter, found my favorite (not so common) energy drink and enjoyed the clean and pleasant surroundings while we waited. The Carne Asada fries were perfect! The bathroom fixtures were older--the Kohler toilet didn't flush well and was a bit noisy, and the tub/shower combo had rounded sides that made it tricky to stand comfortably. The shower water also never got fully hot. The room had a slightly musty smell, and the carpets would benefit from a deep cleaning. The balcony screen door didn't close tightly, which let a few flies in, and access to the second floor required two sets of stairs since there's no elevator in that section. Even with those issues, the resort's location, views, and overall vibe made the stay enjoyable. With some room refreshes and a bit more maintenance attention, this could easily be a standout property. The setting alone is worth experiencing.

I found a great AAdvantage Hotel deal at the Hilton Phoenix Tapatio Cliffs Resort and booked it. While it was a great success of a visit in terms of AAdvantage miles and loyalty points, my actual experience at the hotel itself was less to be desired due to the customer service and a big snafu on their part. I also have Hilton Gold status, though as I booked the hotel through a third party site (AAdvantage Hotels), I could see the stay and the stay history in my Hilton app, but I did not receive any benefits for staying there, which was fine as I didn't expect any anyone. I arrived in person to check in and already reserved and prepaid for a King 1 Bedroom Standard Suite, which had a nice view and reasonably spacious room (but not too much larger than a regular room at another hotel). The room was certainly not upgraded though there was parking available right in front of the entrance. I did not receive anything else at check-in nor did it appear that I'd get my regularly complimentary water. I did pay the daily resort charge which includes high speed internet access, access to the Falls Water Village, an hour at the tennis/pickleball court, an hour at the afternoon golf practice facility, two hours for a mountain bike rental, 20% off seasonal spa services, and 15% off select golf apparel. While I didn't use it, I had easy view and access to the Falls Water Village where you could lounge and play all day on their sun-marked terrace where you could find free-form pools, hot tubs, and cabanas. They even have a 138-foot enclosed water slide. When I checked out, I was told that a bill would be sent to me shortly since I did it on the app early, and when I received the bill, there was a charge for my room at the restaurant at the top of the hill called A Different Point of View. The catch is that I never went to eat there during my stay (or at any onsite restaurant since I live in the area and had my meals offsite). I reached out to the hotel who insisted that I did go there to eat. I promised them I didn't eat anywhere onsite and that they need to look at the receipt and see if it actually has my room number. They confirmed it did and that this meant I ate there. I told them to find my name on it and let me know if it was on there. After several more back and forth conversations, they confirmed it wasn't me and would remove the charge. They then mistakenly charged me double. Then they removed one charge, but it took more than a week before they removed the other charge. By the end of the exchanges, it felt like they were blaming me for their own mistake. While the resort is aged and rather pleasant, there certainly are training issues regarding the customer service offered at this property. I do not plan on staying here again in the future.
