We stopped by here when our nearest baker ran out of sourdough bread. Yelp came to the rescue, as I have been wanting a BLT, and we popped into this place. To be purchased: · Japanese Iced Coffee ($4.00): It's a great standard iced coffee. No complaints. · Pistachio Matcha Latte ($5.75 + $1.00 oat milk): I loved that they whisk the tea by hand but the pistachio taste wasn't there. On the plus side, drinking this well into the afternoon definitely disturbed my sleep schedule. · Cinnamon Roll ($4.25 + $0.95 cream cheese frosting): If they could only serve this warm, I think it could be decent. I microwaved it at home and I'll be honest, it was still okay at best. · High 5 Fiber Loaf ($8.95): Now I get that the oats and goodies of this bread probably is the reason why it was a hefty loaf but sheesh! It's dense enough to hold the garage door open. Great Harvest Bread is a cute place. They sell a lot of little items and their soup section had me intrigued. Do you ever get those nights where you want non-dinner items for dinner? I wanted to make a BLT and needed bread. My usual local bakery sold out of bread by the time I got off work and that's when Yelp helped me out. Popped into this new-to-me place for bread. I ended up purchasing: - Japanese Iced Coffee ($4.00): Japanese iced coffee, also known as flash brew, is made by brewing hot coffee directly over ice, instantly chilling it to lock in vibrant flavors and aromas, resulting in a bright, crisp, and less diluted iced coffee compared to traditional methods. It's a nice iced coffee for a reasonable price. - Pistachio Matcha Latte ($5.75 + $1.00 oat milk): We saw her hand-whisking the matcha which impressed us. I had assumed this is a powder-and-dump place with a quick stir of the spoon. It doesn't really taste like pistachio though. - Cinnamon Roll ($4.25 + $0.95 cream cheeese frosting): I thought it would be served warm and ai was wrong. Bring it home, nuke it, and it can be enjoyable. - High 5 Fiber Loaf ($8.95): This bread is dense. I get that there's a lot of grains inside but I wasn't expecting it to be a brick. Not ideal for BLTs but great for eating with salted butter. All in all, not a bad place. They sell a lot here and it's definitely warm inside. Great Harvest Bread is located in a plaza in Chandler. They they sell their bread and they sell jams and jellies, amongst other things. They also have cafe food options for sitting inside or taking it to go, and they sell coffee. The store was a little overwhelming when you first walk in due to all of the items they sell being by the front door. They do have a nice more open seating area inside after you order and they have outdoor seating as well. The cashier was really nice but she was a smidge slow with making my hot latte with oatmilk, I had ordered a tuna sandwhich with sourdough and received it atleast 5 minutes before I got my coffee. The tuna sandwhich was really good and I wouldn't mind coming back for another one, although it was very expensive. The coffee was not great and I recommend going somewhere else for that. Overall, if you want to buy their bread or other items they sell then I would recommend checking them out. Where to begin with this review... Great Harvest has a special spot in my mom's heart since she franchised a bread bakery with her mom when she was young. With this location being the only Great Harvest in the entire state, you'd think it was be at the top of its game. My mom and I had the idea that we'd walk out with a good amount of bread loaves and even eat a delicious lunch while we were there. Unfortunately, their dessert and bread options for that day (we went on a Monday, St Patrick's Day) weren't that great. They had a gingersnap cookie, this coconut scone, and most of the emphasis was on their Irish soda bread (sot surprisingly because of the day we went lol). The cookie and scone flavors didn't appeal to us. We were thinking of getting their oatmeal chocolate chip cookies which are enormous, but they only had them wrapped in packs of six. We weren't about to spend a hefty amount on six of the same cookie. Another thing Great Harvest does is you can sample their breads before purchasing. My mom was disappointed when she asked if she could try some sourdough and was told they didn't have any for tasting that day. The only breads available for sampling was the soda bread and their gluten-free option :/ The cashier in general could've been nicer. She didn't even ask us what kind of bread we wanted for our sandwich; we had to specify sourdough and that's only because we asked if they had sourdough for sampling. Even for that, she was kind of dismissive when telling us they only had like two kinds of bread for sampling that day. Moving on to ordering lunch, we decided to just order one tuna sandwich and splitting it between us. We ordered the tuna salad sandwich on sourdough. Long story short, it was nothing to write home about. The tuna salad was something you'd make at home, and the toppings of lettuce, tomato, and raw red onions were obviously something you could whip together at home. It was $10 and you don't even get a side of ANYTHING. In fact, as the plate arrived at our table, the server was like, "did you guys get chips with that?" We answered that we didn't, and she went in and asked if we usually get a side of chips included with the $10. She came back out and said that we didn't, ultimately. Sad. My mom remarked that the sourdough used for the sandwich wasn't even that true to what sourdough should be; it didn't have any tangy sourness to it that one should expect in an authentic sourdough bread from a literal bread bakery. This place is located on NW corner of Warner and McClintock. They are very dog friendly. They even watched my sons dog and there was a water dish when he went to the bathroom. We got the cinnamon roll and pumpkin chocolate chip cake bread (see photos). Both were very good and cinnamon rolls were pretty large. I think this is my favorite sandwich place in the area, with their extensive menu of unique sandwiches. My favorite is the Louisville Chicken Salad because it is so flavorful. I also like the Baja Chipotle Turkey, which is creatively inspired by the flavors of a fish taco. Honestly, I've never tried something here that I didn't like. All the bread is super fresh, which is what really pushes the sandwiches over the top. I like to get a loaf of sourdough bread every time I come here as well. This is a great little lunch stop if you work in the area. They have a good salad and sandwich selection, and I like that they have gluten free options. I wish they had gluten free pastries that varied instead of just the cinnamon roll they always have, and the gluten free bread isn't very good, but A for effort. Found this little gem by accident. I passed by and made a point to come back. I do my best to support small businesses. They do coffee, salads, and all kinds of sandwiches. I couldn't make up my mind, so I asked the opinion of the staff. The two most popular sandwiches are the smoked turkey goddess (cold) and the Tuscan chicken (hot) so I ordered them both. They make all their breads from scratch. They have a cinnamon chip loaf and a cinnamon loaf. I really wanted to buy one... But I would end end up eating it all myself with a side of butter. I waited about 10 minutes for my sandwiches. I took them outside. I was starving I ate one half of each. The sandwiches didn't disappoint. Tasty and best of all made from scratch bread. We picked up Great Harvest bread at the farmers market a few years ago and absolutely loved their honey whole wheat bread. We decided it was time to make the drive to their location in Tempe to stock up! During COVID-19 they are offering curbside pick up, just call ahead to make your order, pay, and designate your pick up time. We arrived and gave them a call letting them know we were there. A nice guy came out (wearing a mask, love it) and gave us our order. So friendly and such an easy process. The honey whole wheat is perfect for sandwiches (grilled cheese is our favorite with this bread). We also got a loaf of the extreme cinnamon swirl bread. The loaf was flatter than I was expecting but the flavor is not lacking! Warm it up with some butter and it is such a treat. The California Cobb sandwich had a distinct school lunch vibe, which was partially due to the honey whole wheat bread and what seemed like prepackaged guac spread instead of fresh avocado (as stated on the menu). My lettuce was also black in some spots (shown in the picture). The S&L Signature breakfast sandwich was equally disappointing, with about two bites of egg and an overwhelming amount of pickled onions. I was hoping for that garlic herb spread to save the day, but I couldn't even taste it. Both sandwiches just tasted like regular sandwiches you could make at home, nothing special. I am so disappointed in this place. I was communicating by email, with the owner, trying to order 2-3 loaves of Challah bread for the Jewish New Year. We got close to finalizing the details and she disappeared. I agreed to pay her in advance, to buy more than I really needed to satisfy the minimum order requiremen and to pick up my order. Not sure what more I could have done. She gave no reason, no apology, no nothing. I don't get it. I'm from the Chicago area and loved Great Harvest bread that I used to get there, so when I heard they were opening a store here, I was very excited. I went over there, eager to buy some bread and the employees were quite rude. I left without buying a thing. Like owner, like employee, I guess. Too bad. BTW.....found my bread at Albertson's.....So there! I'd like to retract my prior review, posted earlier today. the owner contacted me and apologized for forgetting to advise me that she was going to be out of town and incommunicado while she was getting remarried. Understanably, she had other things on her mind other than my Challah bread order. Apparently this oversight was completely unintentional and I apologize for my part in this misunderstanding. This was not a case of ignoring her customer or her business. Life just got in the way. Oh my, this place is wonderful. I popped in a couple Saturdays ago for lunch & the second I walked in I was welcomed with the comforting smells of all the good stuff they make. SAMPLES! THEY HAVE SAMPLES! :-) It was heavenly. It's a cute little store front in a strip mall, ample parking, with a nice wide walkway between the bakery & eyeglass store to the west of them. There were probably about six tables available outside, plenty of seats to pull up & cop a squat. The staff was friendly & did not rush me when I couldn't decide what to buy (so many choices!). I ordered the ham & brie sandwich, the spicy apple bacon grilled cheese, with a big kahuna bar for dessert. The brie sandwich was good but needed a bit more flavor to it; the grilled cheese was the best of the two, it was very very good. I think if they brie had some of the pepper jelly from the grilled cheese, it would have been a lot better. The order took awhile to come out which was no biggie since it was gorgeous outside, I was in no rush, & to me that meant it would all be fresh. I was not disappointed at all in the food. The only reason I chose a 4-star vs 5-star is because the inside of the store immediately in front of the door was a bit jumbled. Not messy, I simply got the impression they had so many items packaged ready for sale that it felt a little crowded inside. The following Wednesday morning I popped back in to pick up some of their rolls for a potluck. Lucky me, there was so much food at the potluck I was able to bring some of the rolls home. A colleague and friend I work with suggested I make a visit to Great Harvest Bread Company in Tempe because there is a pistachio matcha latte on the menu. This small business is located in a strip mall at Warner Road and McClintock Drive. I was primarily visiting to try the pistachio matcha latte which is a specialty seasonal item on the menu. I'm not a fan of matcha so I ordered an iced pistachio latte instead which tasted how I expected it to taste. However, it wasn't exceptional and I could have made the same quality--if not better--at home. Overall, I was satisfied with my order and would stop in again to try one of the baked goods. I learned about Great Harvest because we received coupons for a free cookie after voting in 2020. We went into the bakery and the only cookies left were their gingersnaps and I'm not a big fan of gingersnaps. They were DELICIOUS! After that initial wonderful free experience, I decided to go back and have returned regularly. Their Cheddar Garlic Jalapeno Bread is phenomenal and is a great choice for making grilled cheese sandwiches. Their Snickerdoodles are fantastic and go great with a cold glass of milk.
