Since I went by myself for the fitting I had a lot of questions regarding the placement of the straps and lace etc...She helped me figure out which version would look better. She also altered my husbands custom tailored pants and they turned out really great. I feel like the price was appropriate for the work she did as well. To add to my fiance's stress the day before he left for Europe, one of his favorite pairs of shorts came unhemmed on one leg after going through the washing machine. We stopped here after looking up other places on Yelp, and the woman who was working fixed his shorts in less than five minutes while we waited. It was also very reasonably priced-- I was worried we'd end up paying more than what the shorts originally cost. I will definitely go back here next time I need to have something altered! read more

Being only 5ft, my mother has had to hem my clothes my entire life. Whenever I go back home, I always make sure to bring any pants that need to be hemmed with me. But as soon as I started my job, I needed new dress pants and didn't have the luxury of going home. So I headed to The Art Alterations and was pleasantly surprised! Both pairs of dress pants cost $15 to hem each and when I picked them up in a couple of days, you couldn't even tell they were altered! There was no "Art" to this alteration. In fact, there was no alteration at all. My small, square table cloth was practically already done when it was brought to this establishment. Unfortunately, our sewing machine died before I could complete the hem for the final two sides. I had stichless sewing tape applied and the hem was already prepared. All I needed was to run a sewing machine over two sides and it was done. This place thought it fair to charge me $27 to do something my 8 year old niece could have done, but it probably only took them about two minutes. When I communicated my frustration for this overpriced service they wouldn't even discuss it. Didn't even offer the 10% discount that you apparently can get when you check in with Yelp. No interest in resolving my disappointment with their business practice. I got a dressed altered for less than that up North. My bad for trying to take my business to a more local spot. I'll not make that mistake again. read more

Amazing alteration work! I stopped by with jeans that needed the waist in and a jcrew dress I needed to have let out. I didn't even think the dress was possible. I was quickly fitted and the woman found a solution for taking out the dress. They had it ready really fast, just a couple days later so I could take the pieces with me on a trip for a wedding! When I picked up, the jeans looked and fit perfectly and the dress was a bit too lose in the bust. They made a quick fix while I waited and had me out the door in 20 minutes. I was always afraid to have clothes altered because I thought it would be expensive and not look very good. This place proved me wrong! Two amazing fixes that made my clothes fit perfectly and look amazing for under $80. read more

This put me at ease since so many people trust this small shop for big ticket things (saw a bride getting her dress altered and a gentleman pick up his groom tuxedo). I had two pairs of trousers and one pair of corduroy jeans recuffed at Art Alterations the other week. The request was to not hem the pants, as I have had done to my chagrin on other pants. Hems never look good. Pro tip: never go for the free alteration offered by the store you purchased from! It is always bottom of the barrel, and my experience comes from at least half a dozen in-house hems throughout the past several years. At any rate, the recuff performed was quite inexpensive and fantastic. The pants look great and fit wonderfully now. I highly recommend checking out this alterations shop. read more

They didn't do everything we had agreed to, and then tried to charge me more to do it when I came to pick it up. Also I'm no expert in this field but it wasn't cheap for the minor jean alterations--$25 to patch up a pocket?! The parking lot is total hell getting in and out of. read more

I cannot say enough good about this place! I brought a dress with a complicated alteration and it was ready as promised without any trace of the work that was done. One piece had a very delicate fabric and another one was double-layered but both had imperceptible alterations after the work was complete. This place knows it's customer service. I brought in a swimsuit top and a wedding dress and my swimsuit top got lost. HOWEVER, they did an INCREDIBLE job making it up to me. I was going to a wedding on the weekend but would be too busy during that week to get my dress hemmed. Only the length needed to be shortened a bit. I looked around and saw that this place does same day alterations and also a discount if you mention that you went on their website. I called ahead asking if I could go in Friday morning and have my dressed hemmed, and back on Friday afternoon. They said yes. So that's what I did. The staff were very nice and professional. The dress was hemmed very well. But I paid about $45 for something that shouldn't have cost that much. They did not tell me they were going to charge extra (or how much extra) for same day.
