The service was the most dismissive I have ever experienced and I've been to PLENTY of Caribbean spots. There was only one other customer there and when I tell you the woman behind the desk ignored me for 20 minutes! Sucking her teeth, and counting money walking back and forth. The Angry Jerk was pitched to me by a vegetarian friend who loves the spot, so I figured it was beyond just, well, jerk chicken. The menu is limited but seems to principally revolve around a Chipotlesque offering that can be configured to suit any taste. I opted for a rice and beans kind of setup with jerk chicken (diced boneless chicken breast) and then added pickled pink onions, mango (maybe pineapple?) pico de gallo, and a vinegar-based slaw (they also have the mayonnaisey stuff which I usually find slightly repulsive but might well trust from this place since it seems house-made). I also added plantains, which were great. The "Jerk Sauce" they have was great, but it didn't really seem like what I'm usually familiar with as jerk sauce, which is in my mind a thicker, often quite spicy sauce. This was more like Thai sweet chili sauce but less viscous and with a dark, sugary sweetness as opposed to the syrupy or sometimes quite acidic sweetness of most Thai chili sauces I've had. Everything I wanted to eat and more. It is not cheap, but it's impossible to eat affordably in DC. Next time I might try the whole/half/quarter chicken or the wings. read more

I passed this place a few times and finally decided to give them a try. I ordered for myself and a friend. She got the curry roti bowl with plantains and steamed cabbage on the side and I got the taco trio with a side of plantains and a side of angry mac. When I picked it up there was only one side of plantain. When I told the cashier there was supposed to be two she said,"Oh. Um, I put them in the same paper". Seemed like BS but whatever. My dad came in town and I was looking for places to eat. I saw this place on Yelp and Google and we decided to try it. My fiancé, dad, and shared a Red Snapper (I think now it is the Stewed vs Fried), Whole Jerk Chicken, and Jerk Salmon with Angry Glaze. We had a lot of sides including plantains, tropical slaw, yucca fries, mac and cheese, coconut curry rice, and fried rice. All the food was wonderful and the server was friendly. One note is they don't serve tap water so you have to buy drinks so we got Jamaican sodas, but we won't dock a star for it. It was a lot of food and I was surprised we ate it all. The ambiance is also nice as they had some seating and it was well distanced. And although none of us are into motorcycles and in fact scared of them, it was cool that they had them inside for cool decor. I recently stopped in to grab dinner. I'd been wanting to try this location out for a while and I was happy that they had later hours than some of the other food establishments in the local area. Ordered the quarter jerk chicken with Mac and rice & peas for sides. In my honest opinion, the jerk chicken was fine. The portion wasn't what I'd received elsewhere, but the chicken was juice. I was expecting to have some jerk sauce to put on the rice but to no avail. The rice was hard, the peaces were hard and overall it was probably the worst rice & peas I've experienced in my life. I was actually pretty upset after trying it. I guess "The Angry Jerk" is more than just a catchy name. :-( The Mac was average. It looked better than it was, but perhaps because of the hour it was stale as a result of the day winding down. I can't call it. I'd like to give The Angry Jerk another try but I probably won't. There is another Caribbean location around the corner that, while not superb, does a world better than this location. I have been waiting forever for this to open up so i can stop by on my drunken nights for a delicious bite instead of going to Wendy's or McDonald's. My friends and I decided to visit this restaurant on Saturday around 10pm and i believe they close pretty late on weekends (3 am). After one of the bouncers told us how good their bowls were, i was super excited to try it! When we got there, Most of the items on the menu wasn't available, i was told they only had jerk chicken. So i proceeded to order the jerk chicken bowl, i was then immediately told to order something else for whatever reason. I ended up ordering the 1/2 jerk chicken with rice and peas and slaw. I was later told they had no rice and peas so i opted for the fried rice which was actually pretty good. The food overall was delicious, the jerk chicken is pretty chopped up so can't tell what part of the chicken you're eating but still had really good flavor. The rice was delicious and i enjoyed the slaw as well. Some of the people working there were really nice but the guy at the front taking orders seemed very impatient. 4 stars because service could be better and they need to have more options available after 10pm, but the food was worth it, great flavor. So so good! Loved my meal. Ordered half jerk chicken with plantain and fried rice. Food was perfectly seasoned. Only complaint about the food here would be that the sides were very small portions. I had 2 plantain and a really small portion of rice even though it was a meal. Parking is metered on a busy Georgia Avenue. There are a bunch of side streets close by as well. Be prepared to park and walk to the restaurant. There is indoor seating, however the location is not very big so seating is limited. More of a carry out style place. I happen to come across this location on accident, but I'm glad I did. The decor is nice. They have angry jerk written across the walls in black and white in different fonts. Then behind the counter is a neon light of their logo. The staff were supper friendly and made great recommendations. I wanted to order a rice bowl but they didn't have the equipment needed for the rice bowl station, she informed me that they will get it soon. So she suggested I got the tacos. I order the jerk shrimp taco and a side of fried rice. The fried rice was so good I didn't get a chance to take a picture because I ate it all in the car. The jerk shrimp was well seasoned and they give you a good amount of shrimp in each taco. It comes with coleslaw so if you're like me and don't like coleslaw I'd ask to take that out. On September 16, 2023, driven by a compelling social media review, I made the trek from Herndon, VA, enduring an hour and 15-minute drive due to traffic, to the Angry Jerk restaurant in Silver Spring, MD. The objective was to savor their renowned pulled beef ox tail bowl, but unfortunately, they were either out or couldn't prepare it. In disappointment, I opted for the half jerk chicken with two sides: plantains and cassava fries. Meanwhile, my wife chose the jerk wings with mumbo sauce. However, the only redeeming item was the jerk wings with mumbo sauce. Regrettably, the jerk chicken lacked moisture and flavor, with no sauce to enliven it. The fried plantains were subpar, lacking the expected sweetness, and the cassava fries were unimpressive, deviating from the typical cassava fry taste I'm accustomed to. To exacerbate the experience, the wait in line was excessively long, consuming about 20 minutes before we received our order. This is my second time trying The Angry Jerk! It is worth the battle with Silver Spring traffic to pick up. There's space to dine in but it's limited. Parking is hectic. I would suggest you order ahead, get delivery or plan to drive around to find parking. There's also parking garages nearby. The menu has a wide variety of jerk food options. I ordered the jerk salmon and jerk snapper. Both had plentiful portions and was delicious. I also love the fresh made pineapple ginger juice. It could be a meal all by itself. He provided a full refund. I did not order any food for a while. I decided to try them again. I ordered yesterday 3/16/24,. My entree was ok but my side order of cabbage was raw with seasoning and curry. I called the restaurant and no one answered. I left a message for someone to call me back. I have not heard from them.
