I passed this place a few times and finally decided to give them a try. I ordered for myself and a friend. She got the curry roti bowl with plantains and steamed cabbage on the side and I got the taco trio with a side of plantains and a side of angry mac. When I picked it up there was only one side of plantain. When I told the cashier there was supposed to be two she said,"Oh. Um, I put them in the same paper". Seemed like BS but whatever. My friend said she liked her curry bowl. The taco trio consists of a jerk chicken taco, jerk shrimp taco and shredded oxtail taco. The jerk chicken was dry. The shrimp was ok but neither were spicy. The shredded oxtail was the best but it just tasted like basic shredded beef. The angry mac was good. It has a little kick to it. The reason I gave 1 star is that 2 or 3 hours after eating this I had diarrhea. My friend said she felt fine. The food here isn't good enough for me to risk it so I won't return. read more

My dad came in town and I was looking for places to eat. I saw this place on Yelp and Google and we decided to try it. My fiancé, dad, and shared a Red Snapper (I think now it is the Stewed vs Fried), Whole Jerk Chicken, and Jerk Salmon with Angry Glaze. We had a lot of sides including plantains, tropical slaw, yucca fries, mac and cheese, coconut curry rice, and fried rice. All the food was wonderful and the server was friendly. One note is they don't serve tap water so you have to buy drinks so we got Jamaican sodas, but we won't dock a star for it. It was a lot of food and I was surprised we ate it all. The ambiance is also nice as they had some seating and it was well distanced. And although none of us are into motorcycles and in fact scared of them, it was cool that they had them inside for cool decor. We look forward to returning sometime as this is a great addition to our neighborhood with so many eclectic food choices. read more

I recently stopped in to grab dinner. I'd been wanting to try this location out for a while and I was happy that they had later hours than some of the other food establishments in the local area. Ordered the quarter jerk chicken with Mac and rice & peas for sides. In my honest opinion, the jerk chicken was fine. The portion wasn't what I'd received elsewhere, but the chicken was juice. I was expecting to have some jerk sauce to put on the rice but to no avail. The rice was hard, the peaces were hard and overall it was probably the worst rice & peas I've experienced in my life. I was actually pretty upset after trying it. I guess "The Angry Jerk" is more than just a catchy name. :-( The Mac was average. It looked better than it was, but perhaps because of the hour it was stale as a result of the day winding down. I can't call it. I'd like to give The Angry Jerk another try but I probably won't. There is another Caribbean location around the corner that, while not superb, does a world better than this location. The workers were nice, but didn't seem to be efficient and had a few other customers annoyed besides myself. At least the energy was okay. I hope that in time the food improves. read more

Got a bowl here which was okay but I came back because they had Sorrel.....the problem is there is no way to know when it will be available. When I came in it seemed like it took forever to be addressed which kind of pissed me off....I also called to check on the Sorrel and no one picked up.... Try for yourself but be ready for the mess!!! read more

I wished there was one where I live in Virginia. I did go to the one in DC it was good! Staff was super friendly.

First it's the hard rice now it's the portions. why with the entree you only give three plantain if the plantain is the side. This is craziness and unacceptable on so many levels. Do better!! read more

The food was Ok, but way overpriced. Food seemed to purchased via a la cart. I would not go here due to many other better options.

Much love to the angry jerk. The red snapper is out of this world. Could use a little more help from the staff when it's your first time. It's comfortable inside. I'll be back. #Supportblackbusiness read more

DO NOT VISIT WITH ALLERGIES: I was really excited for this spot to open and for the first week or two it was great to have such a cute Jamaican spot nearby. Unfortunately, it has really gone downhill in food quality and service. I kept giving them a chance with food quality and service until today, I am allergic to shrimp so I always go with chicken or beef and today ordered some chicken tacos online only to get home with some SHRIMP tacos!! Thankfully, I am alive since they always forget something so they encourage you to check your food and today they had no jerk mambo so I was adding bbq sauce when I realized. Went back and didn't get a refund and barely an apology. read more

I heard about this place on TikTok, I ordered off of Uber eats, it's a reasonable time to be delivered, the food was so delicious. I ordered oxtails shreds rice n beans plantains, & onions. I always are oxtails on the bones but this was better. The food is fresh as well. I would recommend. read more

VERY disappointed. I was excited to try a new island spot closer to home, but this was was 2 stars away from trash. They get 2 starts because the food was warm and the service was good. I ordered 1/2 jerk chicken and I'm 100% sure I received 1/4 of a chicken. I eat and order 1/2 chicken all the time and I was definitely ripped off. I should have checked my bag and complained before I left. SMH I also noticed they cut up and chopped party wings... WTF?!?!! ABSOLUTELY NOT!!! I seriously want my money back!! Why was my wingette leg chopped in half?? I actually want an answer to this!! I didn't get nearly enough meat as I should have. They charge an extra $2 for mac so be prepared for that. Also I don't recommend ordering it... sorry... Bottom Line - Go to Society next door NOT the Angry Jerk. read more

- good for late night eats - lines can be long after hours which means longer turnover wears had to complete with delivery orders, altho we were first in line, there was a bunch of orders ahead of us - pulled oxtail bowl was really good - shrimp was really good - chicken as tasty and juicey - Mac and cheese was kind of tastless - Bowls had good reheat value - a few ppl from my group had stomach sickness the next day minus one star for that read more

I have been waiting forever for this to open up so i can stop by on my drunken nights for a delicious bite instead of going to Wendy's or McDonald's. My friends and I decided to visit this restaurant on Saturday around 10pm and i believe they close pretty late on weekends (3 am). After one of the bouncers told us how good their bowls were, i was super excited to try it! When we got there, Most of the items on the menu wasn't available, i was told they only had jerk chicken. So i proceeded to order the jerk chicken bowl, i was then immediately told to order something else for whatever reason. I ended up ordering the 1/2 jerk chicken with rice and peas and slaw. I was later told they had no rice and peas so i opted for the fried rice which was actually pretty good. The food overall was delicious, the jerk chicken is pretty chopped up so can't tell what part of the chicken you're eating but still had really good flavor. The rice was delicious and i enjoyed the slaw as well. Some of the people working there were really nice but the guy at the front taking orders seemed very impatient. 4 stars because service could be better and they need to have more options available after 10pm, but the food was worth it, great flavor. I will give this place another try during the day to see what other things they have to offer. read more

02 August 2021 - I know the place is new so keeping that in mind. When I went (about 5pm) they were out of cilantro coconut rice. I also ordered a ginger beer but the cashier handed me a ginger ale after finding out they were out of that too. I ordered the half chicken with plantains and white rice. I found the plantains good but my half chicken was very chopped up. Didn't expect that but it was still good. Like others say it might be worth another try some other time. read more

So so good! Loved my meal. Ordered half jerk chicken with plantain and fried rice. Food was perfectly seasoned. Only complaint about the food here would be that the sides were very small portions. I had 2 plantain and a really small portion of rice even though it was a meal. Parking is metered on a busy Georgia Avenue. There are a bunch of side streets close by as well. Be prepared to park and walk to the restaurant. There is indoor seating, however the location is not very big so seating is limited. More of a carry out style place. My daughter had the Angry Curry Chicken and loved it. read more

It is evident that this place is new. They are still trying to find their proverbial legs. The jerk chicken was tasty, but needed more heat. There was no jerk sauce to compliment the meal. The fried rice and plantains were tasty, though portions were small when considering the price. The staff was friendly and helpful, but limited in their knowledge of island cuisine. I will give this place a few more months before I try it again. read more

I happen to come across this location on accident, but I'm glad I did. The decor is nice. They have angry jerk written across the walls in black and white in different fonts. Then behind the counter is a neon light of their logo. The staff were supper friendly and made great recommendations. I wanted to order a rice bowl but they didn't have the equipment needed for the rice bowl station, she informed me that they will get it soon. So she suggested I got the tacos. I order the jerk shrimp taco and a side of fried rice. The fried rice was so good I didn't get a chance to take a picture because I ate it all in the car. The jerk shrimp was well seasoned and they give you a good amount of shrimp in each taco. It comes with coleslaw so if you're like me and don't like coleslaw I'd ask to take that out. I will definitely be returning to try more items on the menu. read more

After reading an article in DC-ist I HAD to sample this new joint's jerk. It did not disappoint. I got the jerk chicken and the jerk shrimp tacos because I couldn't decide. Can you say, yum??? The chicken was well seasoned, and I could taste the smoke. I had just enough shrimp in my taco, wrapped in a nice flour tortilla with rice and slaw and...well, just deliciousness. The place was neat as a pin. The staff, especially Erick, were warm and welcoming. This will be my new Caribbean spot. And the logo is too cute. monda read more

Customer service was so so. I ordered curbside but ended up going inside after waiting for 10 minutes with no one in sight. Then I get inside only to told that my order wasn't ready. The service was the most dismissive I have ever experienced and I've been to PLENTY of Caribbean spots. There was only one other customer there and when I tell you the woman behind the desk ignored me for 20 minutes! Sucking her teeth, and counting money walking back and forth. Then one of the cooks came from the kitchen and started changing a lightbulb in the same gloves he was cooking in. That was enough for me. The food smelled good, but the service was so lousy that I didn't get to try it, and I never will. read more

To start, I'm a proud Jamaican who adores authentic Jamaican cuisine. On September 16, 2023, driven by a compelling social media review, I made the trek from Herndon, VA, enduring an hour and 15-minute drive due to traffic, to the Angry Jerk restaurant in Silver Spring, MD. The objective was to savor their renowned pulled beef ox tail bowl, but unfortunately, they were either out or couldn't prepare it. In disappointment, I opted for the half jerk chicken with two sides: plantains and cassava fries. Meanwhile, my wife chose the jerk wings with mumbo sauce. However, the only redeeming item was the jerk wings with mumbo sauce. Regrettably, the jerk chicken lacked moisture and flavor, with no sauce to enliven it. The fried plantains were subpar, lacking the expected sweetness, and the cassava fries were unimpressive, deviating from the typical cassava fry taste I'm accustomed to. To exacerbate the experience, the wait in line was excessively long, consuming about 20 minutes before we received our order. In conclusion, this dining experience proved to be a significant waste of both time and money. read more

Theynamed the place correctly! " Angry Jerk" as the food took over an hour to be ready after I ordered online. Uber eats drivers and angry customers were waiting as confused workers scrambled to get orders out. Samantha came and tried to help but told me to come back and get a refund...."she was just trying to help". We always order the Snapper Jerk Meal here. A great choice from the menu if you enjoy Snapper and Jerk.

This is my second time trying The Angry Jerk! It is worth the battle with Silver Spring traffic to pick up. There's space to dine in but it's limited. Parking is hectic. I would suggest you order ahead, get delivery or plan to drive around to find parking. There's also parking garages nearby. The menu has a wide variety of jerk food options. I ordered the jerk salmon and jerk snapper. Both had plentiful portions and was delicious. I also love the fresh made pineapple ginger juice. It could be a meal all by itself. The plantains were very tasty! The macaroni and cheese was also good. I'd recommend The Angry Jerk to others looking for good jerk flavored food made with love. You can tell the cooks take care with the preparation of the meal. I haven't experienced the full customer service but when I went to pick up my food I was immediately taken care of and the servers were nice. read more

Went here one night with my Caribbean friends. I'm not familiar with the cuisine so I was asking my friend with me what the dishes are and she was kind enough to order for me. The tall restaurant server had a horrible attitude since we came in, he looked at me and friends and muttered something to his coworker, obviously taking about us. Since my friend stated my order first before her, he asked about me to her if I can speak English. I looked back and knew he was talking about me, my friend just smiled and said "yes" but he kept asking offensive questions. I was going to say something but decided not to since the place was getting busy and didn't want to cause a scene. Nonetheless, food was good, I just didn't like that encounter. read more

The food is good, but what I received was more of a sample than a meal. I ordered 1/4 jerk chicken (white meat) pickled slaw, and mac-n-cheese. I received my order and was disappointed when I realized I was given a condiment sized sample of the pickled slaw, and chopped pieces of chicken, (the mac-n-cheese was fine, but was an extra $3.50 even though the meal came with 2 sides). When I order any part of the chicken, I expect to receive the whole piece of chicken, not chopped pieces. There's no need to stretch a meal when people are paying. We should all be able to identify the pieces of chicken we're eating and not have to fish out bone fragments. I paid almost $16 for a struggle plate and am disappointed to see other reviews with the same complaint. The food is good, the service is great, but the portion size is a complete joke! read more
