Everything tasted good but being from the Caribbean myself I'm partial to my own cooking. Service was a little slow but the gentle lady at the register was very pleasant although some customers were complaining. People need to be kind especially to gentle folk. Peaches was across the street from a venue that we utilized and thought we'd check them out! How sweet is the owner, she's a delight! We ended up asking her to cater the event, which got nothing but good feedback. The restaurant has family style seating and a to-go bar area with a tablet to order from. It comes with either a side salad or garlic bread. That pasta used to have me tearing up after like two bites. The jerk was jerkinnn, honey. This last time I had it, it wasn't as hot but still packed a punch. I ordered to-go, so as pictured the jerk sauce came on the side. I can't believe I didn't know that this place existed! After much hype from my Sorors, and after meeting Miss Peaches herself, I decided to check it out. I ordered the Saturday special -beef short ribs- with garlic mashed potatoes and cabbage. I also ordered a slice of coconut cake. I came in not long after they opened and took about 20 minutes or so for me to get my order. Not a terrible wait, but I'm sure it's much longer when they're busy so it might be a good idea to call ahead. If you're doing takeout, there's a tablet in the front of the store where you can place your order and pay (I'm really starting to get into this contactless thing. I hope it catches on in more places). As for the food, be the beef short rib was really good. Good portion, tender, really good flavor. The only complaint I had is that my piece was really fatty. Not a deal-breaker, but I was a little disappointed that my rib wasn't as big as I thought when I stripped all the fat away. Oh well... It was still filling. The mashed potatoes were good, and I liked that they left a little crunch in the cabbage, as well. I have been craving coconut cake for weeks now and was so happy to see that they sold it. Overall the cake was decent. The cake part itself was a little dense and just the slightest bit dry, but it was enough to calm my craving. I always order from here every week. I called at 12:50 for ackee and salt fish. I was on hold for 20 minutes. I came into the store physically while still being on hold. At 1:10 I come in and was told they stopped making what I requested at 1:00 pm.. so I drove 20 minutes to be told that I can not order what I wanted... if I wasn't on hold for 20 minutes I could have placed my order in time. I usually get their amazing salmon cakes with two sides (Mac and cheese and greens)which come out to about $18 and some change. And I always have leftovers because the portions are nice and hefty so you're getting a bang for you buck! The Mac and cheese and greens aren't out of this world but they are pretty darn good for what it's worth. I tend to order to go during the week when it isn't super busy so my order only takes about 20 -25 min. The customer service is just okay. Sometimes when I call it sounds like the cashier is already over it lol. But doesn't bother me much. I've never dined in so it might be a different experience though. We were in the neighborhood and my friend remembered this place. We stopped in and even though they didn't allow for dine-in the staff was friend as were the patrons waiting for their orders. My #1 Caribbean eatery is "Muffin Man" However with there new store hours and me moving further away I can't seem to make my way there. Hence the search for great caribbean food with the authentic resemblance of "Muffin Man" . I must say "peaches" comes close to the authentic taste of "Muffin Man" that I crave so much.The food was good. The jerk wings were falling off the bone tender and had MAD flavor. Had breakfast with everything and it was delicious. Especially impressed with the pancakes. Light, fluffy, consistent with a dollop of whipped cream. Terrific bargain. This breakfast would have cost $5 more further south in the District. A great spot if you don't want to fight the Sat. brunch crowds. And honestly, who does. Bright and cheery interior. The unassuming storefront hides how clean and warm the restaurant is. Nice menu and friendly service. A little odd to hear ESPN on the TV, but it wasn't distracting. Peaches really is a hidden neighborhood gem. Kudos to the helpful website they maintain. There is one strike against Peaches. Very slow. A single breakfast entree took twenty minutes to reach the table. We were the only patrons in the restaurant. I recommend Peaches, but make sure an hour is allotted. They do have free WiFi.
