Fig, Brie and honey on sourdough toast - at least that's what I ordered.

I really wanted to like this place - very cute spot, menu looked interesting. I ordered the fig, Brie and honey on sourdough toast. Fam, if you can spot the fig your eyesight is better than mine. Tiny strips of Brie and all honey on a small slice of bread for $11. I might give it another try for their drinks but definitely not their food.

So amazing. I wish I could go back every day. The most amazing service from the most amazing staff- I've only been here twice, but I've felt so welcome both times. An absolutely amazing menu- I want to try everything! So far Ive had a very tasty salad, toast, latte, elixer, and kava :) The vibes are so cute and relaxing as well, and it's a great spot to hang out. I'm hoping to be here very regularly so I can try everything else on the menu! (Btw, heard about dinner options being added, and I'm very excited).

Amazing food, drinks, vibes, and staff. What a gem! I highly recommend and cannot wait to go back. The bowl portions were really good and filling.

Fig and bring toast, so tasty!

Amazing we have this up and coming gem in Modesto as an option to traditional bars. I had the traditional kava drink and my friend the Gypsy rose (eat the flower , as well as the brie and fig toast. So tasty! But not only that, if you haven't tried kava before and are looking for a non-alc option to relax and unwind, I highly recommend the kava experience at The Alchemist Cafe.. It had us feeling good and joyful and we went "food hopping around town" after imbibing of this wonderful pacific island drink. We noticed how this buzz felt different in a good way compared to alcohol and enjoyed it immensely. We had great conversation, laughter, and I am still feeling the positive effect the next day! I woke up clear headed and ready to take on a stressful medical day. Will be back and hope others discover the positive benefits of kava!

So stoked for The Alchemist Cafe to be open! Finally a healthy and fresh spot with natural and wholesome ingredients! So many amazing offerings on the menu! Whether you're looking to start your day off with a coffee and breakfast, a fresh lunch midday, or some mocktails and kava in the evening- this place is going to be the spot!

It is always a great spot to invite colleagues, family, and friends. They offer a solid selection of burgers and craft beer, and the location is very convenient in downtown Modesto, within walking distance of the Brenden Theatre and nearby venues like the Gallo Center. The customer service is phenomenal and they truly make you feel at home. If you need pickup, just give them a call and they will get you situated right away. Definitely recommend it.

Here, you order your food, grab a number, and find your own seat for the food to be brought out to you. We sat at a table outside to decide what to order. There were no menus available so we just had to search for it online before heading inside to order. Despite being third in line from the register, we had an extremely long wait to order. There was only one person running the register who also had to make the drinks, meaning the service incredibly slow. We wanted to order the five taco platter, garlic fries, chicken Caesar salad, and mimosa pitcher. Sadly, we were only able to get the pitcher and salad. The cashier told us "sorry, we aren't doing fries right now." Not doing fries? Every plate in the vicinity had fries on them. She said that because it was brunch hour, only food on the brunch menu could be ordered. We looked at the brunch menu again and literally saw garlic fries as an option as a side for the burgers/sandwiches. No where did it specify that you can't order off the other menu and both were available online. What bothered us about this is that we placed this order at around 1:50pm, and brunch ended at 2:00pm. I understand that we are not entitled to things on the lunch menu during brunch-time for items like the tacos, but considering the menu swap was less than 10 minutes away and they were quite literally were "doing fries" at the time, it didn't make much sense to us. The only food that we ended up ordering was the Chicken Caesar Salad. This one dish took a super long time to receive. By the time it was brought out, the three of us nearly finished the Mimosa pitcher. The waitress noticed we had no silverware and said she would go grab us some. Because of how the service had been going thus far, we placed a bet on whether or not the waitress would come back with the silverware. Surprise, surprise. She didn't. We had to go inside later and search for silverware ourselves. We weren't even able to get sharing plates which was upsetting since the waitress asked us if we would be sharing the salad. The salad itself looked delicious, but was bland. The dressing was missing that zing and zest that a Caesar dressing typically has. I do appreciate that is was a chopped salad, had avocado, and seasoned croutons. It is just unfortunate that it was lacking any flavor at all. The food prices are quite affordable for the quantity of food you receive though. This experience was disappointing because I was so optimistic about the place. The menu looked good, it had fun and casual vibes and a cool crowd of people. If Commonwealth worked towards better service practices, it would have been a more positive experience.

I never was interested in going there for years since it's been there but decided to try it tonight. Firstly, the ramen place holds maybe 40 at most and we had to wait a while before we were seated. They asked if we had a reservation but didn't think that it would be needed since it's not like a fancy restaurant and I don't know many ramen places that takes reservations. Since we didn't , we got seated on the bar which is fine. For it being in Modesto, they try to get the anime vibe with toys and anime art around. I'm no ramen expert but I've tried over a dozen ramen places in Tokyo, Vancouver, Japan town in LA, San Francisco, Oahu, Seattle just to name a few cities. So we got first the spicy garlic edamame. Not bad at all, had a kick to it and was edible. From a scale of 1 to 5. I'd give it a 5. For the main entree, I wanted the garlic tonkatsu but the waitress said they ran out.... Ok, for a Saturday night at 6 pm, running out of a ramen and they've been in business for several years now?!? never had that happen before in any ramen shop I've been to. So me and my wife both got the Ichiraku ramen which was a miso broth with pork belly. Price $23. I added 2 more pork belly at $5 more. Oh, the waitress mentioned no bamboo shoots and no fish cake........ ok, never had that happen before in a ramen shop. So while eating edamame, I kept track of how long it took we got our ramen.... It took 30 minutes before we got our ramen... definitely atypical to wait that long wait but I guess it's because they offer a lot of items besides ramen. Presentation was fine, the pork belly was seared on one side with a blow torch since I can taste that searing. . It just had green onions, 2 seaweeds and 2 soft boiled eggs which I was impressed the yolk wasn't overcooked. The noodles I chose was thin and was good with a soft texture. The miso broth was average Over all, it was an okay ramen. Me and my wife both didn't finish our bowls... definitely unusual since we love ramen but somehow, it didn't fulfill our satiety to finish and be content. I can tell you that of all the ramen places I've been to. This is average and doesn't compare to Ramen 101 in Modesto that I've ordered many times before my first time here. Sadly, I can only give it 3 stars because the ramen was average and not in the same league as other ramens I've had in other places and cities. And if me and my wife couldn't finish our ramen, that's a tell tale sign it was just okay. Plus, the place is called Konfucius Eats, doesn't have a Japanese name for a restaurant since "Confucius " is a Chinese Philosopher lol. In fact, I didn't see any Japanese or Asian cooks... just saying that's atypical to the other ramen establishments I've been to. For Modesto, it's aight. I just can't see myself going back here for a long time. Lastly, they are open Tuesday to Saturday only .

Had an overnight work trip that had me in Modesto so I was trying to find something fun to eat…read more After a bit of research I found this place. I showed up around 7pm and I thought it might have been closed because no one was here. But they were open. I ordered a Bauer burger with the house seasoned fries. They asked how I'd like the egg cooked and the burger cooked: I asked for medium for both. Given how dead the place was, it did take a minute to get my food. The burger was ok, not worth $21. The bun fell apart very quickly which is a bit of a cardinal sin in the burger game. The bacon on the burger was not bacon strips but a bit of bacon crumble. The patty was a bit overcooked so it was dry and it wasn't seasoned so it was bland. The egg was cooked perfectly, but the aioli and the egg yolk with a disintegrated bun made for a huge mess. The fries were interesting. The house seasoned fries are not salted. So the fries were almost sweet due to the spices, but no salt. And they do not have regular table ketchup or malt vinegar. I did ask for some ketchup and they brought me their house ketchup. While not like a classic ketchup, it was actually quite good. Oh, be aware. They will charge you a 4% fee when they bring you the check (what would have happened if I'd paid with cash?). I do not see anywhere on the menu where they say their is a payment fee so that is a pretty shady business practice. Overall: meh. I think for the price point the burger should have been great, but sadly I can't say it was great or even good. I'd likely not return.

Looking at the exterior, we could only guess what was coming. Walking in just after opening gave us opportunity to marvel over the beautifully appointed interior without bothering yet to arrive lunch customers. After perusing the menu, which we had somewhat studied pre decision to dine here, our waiter Matteo filled in item by item our understanding of the many menu options. With his help and suggestions we four decided to share two "starters" - the whipped feta - half classic and half smoky. Both were delicious! We chose the 4 piece Bruschetta with a suggested cheese added. It too rang the delicious bell. We picked paninis for our main course: Flank steak, French dip and Prosciutto & Fig Jam. Each would be served with a side salad - either Spinach or Spring. We all chose Spinach. The sandwiches were full of the components as described. My wife's Prosciutto & Fig Jam had prosciutto from end to end countering a review to the contrary I had read. The other paninis were likewise filled. The Spinach side salads were loaded with walnuts and cranberries. The amount of feta was adequate. the total amount of salad was more than I expected. My wife ordered a dessert to go, and just reported to me that was superb. We had to forgo any wine with lunch as we had miles to drive home afterward. But I await the day we can spend the night in town and enjoy some selections of their impressive wine stock and not have to drive home. A Friday evening comes to mind. It must happen so we can try out more items of their well chosen fare. A couple of the pokes look scrumptious and a few more of the paninis await my gastric juices. We were pleasantly surprised by Damon bringing us a complimentary Chocolate Panini served with house made whipped zcream (who even serves that these days?) He said that we HAD to try his #1 selling item from the whole menu before we left. We tasted, and learned why it had reached that status. Good in appearance. Perfect in creation, Superb in taste. Kudos by the bucketful to Damon, Matteo, and the rest of the staff who helped this Birthday Bash be warm & fuzzy and highly enjoyed. If you haven't yet. I suggest you put Camp 4 on your high priority list and enjoy the experience as I'm sure you will. We sure did!
