It's like Denny's and a bar interbred. This place is interesting, it has decent breakfast options, but it's more of a bar that serves breakfast than a traditional diner. There are signs all around that could be considered controversial, but thankfully they have outdoor seating if you don't want to be inflicted by that. After coming here for the last three years and having great service and food, I was excited to take my family here after a long day of adventuring to this hole in the wall of what I used to think of as a "gem." Usually when I come here it's busy, full of life; so it was a pleasant surprise to see that it wasn't busy at all. I came here with a party of 7. As per usual, I was greeted with a friendly host. We decided to sit outside as it was hotter inside than it was outside. (Great so far) However, things turned for the worst as our server (Ashley) was somewhat rude and dismissive. She instructed us that with a party as big as ours, we'd have one check but two cards could be split within the check (fine). 5 of the 7 of us ordered food. My nephews couldn't order drinks as they had a vertical license from Alabama. Then they showed their military ID and that was still not accepted as form of ID to prove they were 21 and older. She took our order begrudgingly (just seemed like she had no patience for our table and frankly didn't want to be there). Despite the establishment not being busy, it took an hour and a half for our orders to get to us. One of our orders (poutine) came in cold and soggy. For an appetizer it should have came in before the rest of the food so this tells me she let it sit. Usually when I order poutine here the fries are crispy and hot, the cheese properly melted and the gravy nice and hot. It was none of those so I told Ashley to please have it properly heated. My daughter ordered a Shirley Temple but never received the drink. When mentioned she nonchalantly said, "I didn't even put it down." What the actual F$*%?! You have a job and you don't even care to take the order you're given seriously. She never checked on our table so many of us sat with empty water in our glasses. The food was subpar this time. I was so disappointed and very disgusted with the service so when the check came and I looked that there was a service fee ($8) and the gratuity fee ($31) it really rubbed me the wrong way. The problem is when you receive such crappy service, having this "fee" tacked on is really just shit. These crappy servers know they are automatically "getting theirs" so they no longer care to give the best service to the customer and that really sucks. I hate that I came here expecting the same service as I have been receiving these past three years to have it blown up by this server. Ashley, do better! Hire better people and maybe I'll come back. We stopped by 5 Point Cafe for breakfast and left full. It's technically more of a tavern with 21+ indoor seating, but families are welcome to sit outside which makes it a good option if you have kids with you. The short stack was $10.60 and a good size to share. You get a 3-stack portion, and the pancakes were fluffy and filling. The chocolate chip pancakes were even larger for $13.40, also served as a 3-stack. I ordered the crab cake Benedict and liked that they skip the English muffin so you really get to focus on the crab cake itself. I added avocado for an extra $4.25, and they gave a decent amount spread across both crab cakes. The crab cakes were cooked a little more than I would've preferred, so they had a crispier texture and taste than expected, but overall still flavorful. The side of hash browns was $7.20 and came in a decent portion. One thing to note: there's also a 5% service fee added to the bill. Overall, the portions are large, prices feel fair for Seattle, and it's a fun casual spot if you're looking for hearty brunch food with a tavern atmosphere. Service was great! When looking for late night foods in Seattle, there's really not a lot of options. This is particularly the case after 3 AM, but that's where this cafe shines as the light in a sea of darkness, welcoming in people from around the city who just want sustenance after a night of mostly alcohol. It serves comfort food - classic breakfast diner items that can bring a person back from the dead. The eclectic fellows that inhabit this establishment in the wee hours of the morning come in all shapes and sizes, but they just have one goal - eat something greasy and satisfying. That's where this place delivers. I ended up here at slightly after 3 AM - and it was pretty packed. All the tables were full, and we were considering leaving after about ten minutes when one finally opened up. The servers are incredibly busy, and it took us about 15 minutes to actually get our order in. I got the cheese curds as my meal. These were easily the best cheese curds I've ever had. In Seattle, I've had a few instances of cheese curds that are relatively sad on the inside - they have a decent fry, but fail on the cheese aspect. That's absolutely not the case here. This cheese is amazing. It's the perfect level of squeakiness, and the stretch is unreal. It has a very unique flavor that you'll only find in cheese curds, that soft yet milk-like taste that's so addicting. It was melty, gooey, and hot inside. The taste was just pure heaven - I was shocked at how good these were. The fry on the outside is also so good. It's light yet so crispy; a beautiful golden brown that produces an amazing crunch when you eat it. Just phenomenal. The sauce provided with this was solid, but honestly I didn't even need it as the curds were amazing by itself. I tried some of the chicken fried steak as well. This was fine. The scrambled eggs were decent, but the hash browns felt a little limp and soggy. The steak itself was pretty average. The prices here aren't too bad either - my cheese curds were around $16, but the portion size was more than enough. We must have been there at a busier time because shortly after we got our food, a bunch of tables cleared out. I have never had this experience, but they wouldn't let us bring our reusable water bottles in and had to leave them outside. They were hidden away and fine but have never had that happen before. Lots of interesting decor inside. Tables are close together and the people around us were quite loud but it did get much quieter once some of the people around us cleared out. The cheese curds are out of this world, especially with the honey - Even the aoli it comes with is so good. Five Point Café - Downtown Seattle Not really sure where to start here, but unfortunately this was not a good experience. We were on our way to see the Space Needle and wanted something light to eat before continuing our walk through the city. We came across the Five Point Café, which is across the street from an Italian pizzeria, and decided to give it a try. The place definitely has a nostalgic, old-school feel--almost like stepping back into the 1970s, or maybe even earlier. The walls are covered with memorabilia, and while it initially felt like it could be quirky and fun, I didn't have a great feeling when we walked in. Still, we decided to give it a fair shot. I ordered a pastrami sandwich with a cup of tomato bisque soup. At first, the sandwich tasted okay, but very quickly the flavor turned unpleasant and I couldn't finish it. Ray ordered the beef stroganoff and only managed two bites--the meat was extremely tough and basically unchewable. He also ordered hash browns and ate some of those, but overall the food was just not good and honestly not very edible. As we sat there longer, we started noticing cleanliness issues. There was a fan above and to the right of us that was absolutely covered in thick dust and dirt--so much that it was really gross to look at and clearly hadn't been cleaned in a very long time. That alone made it hard to enjoy anything. We also noticed some odd signage. On the back wall near the restrooms, there was a sign asking people not to do cocaine in the bathroom. Then, when I later took photos to post with this review, I noticed the front of the menu says "Alcoholic serving alcoholics since 1929." I understand humor and edgy branding, but combined with the food quality and cleanliness, it just added to the overall uncomfortable feeling. When you're visiting a new city, you rely heavily on reviews to help guide your choices, and that's exactly why I write reviews myself--to help others know what they might be walking into. Unfortunately, this is not a place I would return to, and I would recommend passing it up. I genuinely feel bad for the staff and owners, and I hope they consider improving cleanliness and food quality, because this could potentially be a cool, nostalgic stop for tourists if it were better cared for. read more

What is the purpose of having a waitlist if it isn't followed? This was a very disappointing experience, and the way we were treated felt unprofessional and discriminatory. Apps and drinks - cheese curds were good (4 of 5) The jalapeño poppers were a 1...Cafe Five infused habanero into the pepper to a level that nothing else could be tasted. Beers were fine, margaritas were bad. The Ruben was the best of the 6 dishes...a solid 4.5 for diner-type meals. Biscuits and gravy was a close second - gravy was good, biscuits were meh - hard and dry. The Dick Burger (that's the literal name) was pretty good as well (a 3). Fries were soggy, like squeeze out liquid kind of soggy for some of them. The country fried steak was very promising, but it came out kinda cold. Flavor was good, temp knocked down the rating. The place was clean, the music was loud (but not obnoxiously loud), and the inside ambience is cool. If you are stopping in here for breakfast, make sure you know that this is more bar than restaurant. Apparently it is open really late and all of the Art on the walls has to do with drinking. There are 1 million stickers on the wall and it is a very cool, counterculture kind of place. Then also have to do good breakfast. lol Centrally located near some amazing tourist attractions. To be honest, my very first experience was less than ideal as compared to my second one, which was so much better. First came here in 2022, when I initially moved to the city and heard it's a local spot. Problem with my first visit was we had brunch in the outside patio and during the day when you can see how dirty the place is. I highly recommend you try this place at night as the vibe changes, and you can't tell what you've actually gotten yourself into. Not to mention the vibe is so much better, feels fun as opposed to the sanitized feel you get in the day time ha ha. First time around we had brunch and it was basically on par with an iHop or Dennys but at a higher octave, loved how chill the place is a and all of their food and drink options. It was the dirty everything for me...also was new to the city so expected some level of customer service only to get none, now I know better. Second try most recently was late late at night, think we got here closer to 2am or so and the post-show, post-club folks were in here. Our order took more than 40 minutes from the time we ordered until we got it. There were a number of folks getting into it with the waiter only to storm out due to the long wait. If you're tipsy or busy chatting you won't notice how long it takes. Just order another drink..lol..You don't really visit a place like this for the customer service or the quality food, it's more for the vibe and late eats. There's not a whole lot of late late night places in the city that are super chill and this is one of them. Plus for the area, fairly affordable. Pretty sure they're short staffed and get slammed after the shows/clubs close, so expect delays. I went next door to the Tillicum Cafe, got seated immediately, and had my best restaurant breakfast since COVID. The servers were not just pleasant, but playful and endearing. My husband got the cinnamon rolls and corn chowder and spent the rest of the meal raving about them. I had the spinach quiche. I'm not a fan of gluten, but the crust was crispy and flavorful and I ate every bite. The salad that came with it was fresh and the dressing light, flavorful, and delicious. Guess what? The bill was no higher than if we'd eaten at the Crossroads Food Court. Don't wait in line at the 5-Point Cafe. Really, people. I'm sick of making excuses for restaurants.
