This is the best Italian restaurant I have ever eaten at and I am a very frequent traveler for business. The wait staff are outstanding, the food was incredible and don't let the small size of the place dissuade you it's outstanding. I had the Veal Saltimbuca and it the best veal I have eaten ever. As you can tell I loved this spot, come here if you are serious about good food!!!
With so many restaurants serving good Italian food, it's so hard to decide on where to go eat sometimes. After narrowing down a few places, we decided on checking out That's Amore. When we arrived, we waited to be seated as we had no reservations but it didn't take too long. A couple in front of us sat at the bar so that is an option for those who don't want to wait or like dining at the bar. We did get seated only a minute or two after them so we got lucky with a table. Customer service was quick and they all speak English from what we observed. We took a look at the menu and decided to get the same thing. This was a first all trip. We ordered the Spaghetti ai frutti di mare. I didn't think I was going to be full so I also ordered a Prosciutto e Bufala. It didn't take long for our drinks and the Prosciutto e Bufala to arrive. After I finished the Antipasti, they quickly took away our plates and a few minutes later, our pasta arrived. It looked and smelled great! Mink's plate looked a lot better than mine so they definitely need to work on consistency. I also got a lot of shells with no seafood inside. Overall, it was still really good and we enjoyed our meal.
Came by on our first night in Rome for a quick dinner. Overall it was pretty good! There were one or two places that we liked slightly more, but we were very happy coming here. The sauces here were very thick which was good but maybe not my personal preference. Service was good. It's busy and a bit loud next to the street (especially when cars are honking).
Highly recommend visiting this place when in Italy! My friend found it as highly recommended on Google and it was right near the Travi Fountain. We found their original location but they were completely booked. Lucky for us, a waitress told us there was a 2nd location near this original location. She actually went out of her way to walk us to the other location. Ended up getting the Lasagna di mia Nonna. The lasagna is already cooked (mushy). I highly recommend getting this dish. It is one of the best dishes I had on my trip to Italy. The dish had beef, high quality mozzarella, and tomatoes.
The first thing we ate when arriving in Italy was here. We wanted to try some pizza and this was within a minute walk from our hotel, so we stopped in. Menu is nice, food looked and smelled very good. Our pizza tasted great! Their bruschetta was excellent! The basil on it was so good! Service was mediocre. Overall, it was very good!
I was recommended by a colleague of mine to come to this place when I am in Rome. It did not disappoint. I went to the one location, but there was a long line to get in. I asked the hostess how long the wait is and she said at least one hour. She then offered to take us to their other location, which is a two minute walk away. She even escorted us over there to make sure we did not get lost. We just walked right in to their second location and seated right away. The food and the service staff was amazing. 5 all around
Was craving pizza and decided to give this place to try because of the much rave reviews on TripAdvisor. Is is a good walk from the fountain Trevi, but well worth it. I had the fried calamari for my appetizer, which was nice and lightly crisp with marinara sauce. For pizza I ordered the margarita pizza which came in this cute heart shaped. It was so cheesy and delicious. The place was very cute with many photos displayed around the restaurant, and the chef was present as well. The service was attentive and friendly.
If you want delicious pasta and pizza, or seafood too, and you want it fast, I recommend this place especially. The first time I went, the waitress was a little rude but she took care of our table of six. Food was great and the ambiance was too, we were more concerned about the delicious margarita pizzas, fettuccini Alfredo, Dolce Vita Spritz(18+), and everything else. The second time, our party of eight was seated fast and our waiter was very nice about our lacking Italian. Our food came out hot and delicious which prompted some in our group go come back again, for a third time! Overall really good food, nice people, pretty restaurant.
Intro: When the moon hits your eye, like a big pizza pie, that's amore! I couldn't help it. After walking for hours upon hours in the heat of the summer in Rome (98 degrees), I was looking for a spot for dinner on a Friday night that was close by. Despite having an English name (which made me skeptical that it's a tourist trap), the restaurant has good reviews and it's one of the most reviewed restaurants in Rome so I got over my initial hesitation. Service (3.5/5): I will say that I judge service with an American lens. Service at restaurants in Europe tends to be slower, less friendly, and less efficient than service in the states. While this restaurant fit the bill in terms of speed and efficiency, the staff was a little more friendly than average. They also have free WiFi which is clutch for international travelers. Ambiance (4/5): Like most restaurants in Rome, they have al fresco dining but this Italian restaurant also has a large interior by Italian standards. I was seated at the bar. There are six or so seats at the bar which is also a plus as most restaurants in Rome don't have bar seating. Drinks (4/5): I didn't drink alcohol on this visit though I always recommend going with red or white house wine, Italian beer, or an Aperol Spritz while in Italy. Instead, I went with an Italian soda (I forget the exact name but it starts with a "C") and a pear juice. Food (3/5): I started off with the suppli al telefono appetizer. This was my first time trying this Roman classic. Think of it as similar to a croquette. The one I ordered was fried and stuffed with tomatoes and cheese. You only get one but it was "delicioso." From there, I went with the spaghetti carbonara, another Roman classic. One of my favorite pasta dishes, this was a generous portion by Italian standards. They also bring you fresh parmesan which is always a nice touch. Unfortunately, the sauce was too salt heavy. As a result, it didn't stack up with other carbonaras I've had elsewhere. Overall: A charming restaurant with a large menu. But one that was average in my book.
Awesome little corner restaurant right next to a busy square. Food was absolutely delicious with a lot a flavor and reasonably priced. They have a great wine menu either by the bottle or by the glass. Overall, a very positive experience and I would definitely go back again on my next trip to Rome.

Some of the best pasta I've ever had. I ordered the carbonara. I wasn't super impressed with the pizza however, it was just okay but my husband liked it. It needed more seasoning in my opinion. We decided to grab dinner in this location because it was close to the Trevi fountain. Service was fast and friendly. Drinks were a bit expensive. We ordered a gingerale and a coke and they were like 4 euros each and they were small. 2 euros for water also. read more

We definitely wanted to try some great places to eat while we were in Rome. Husband found out this place .. The first night we walked in .. it was super packed and the wait was more than an hour(since we had no reservation - Make sure you make a reservation if planning to dine here). Made reservations for next night. It a cute little Italian place close to Trevi. Home made pasta which shows the difference between the other industrial restaurants. Everything is fresh and from good ingredients. Definitely you can tell that by the taste! The service is friendly and even though the staff were very busy they manage to be helpful and we never felt rushed. My husband took a Rivoli - it was delicious and I went with the Fettuccine al tartufo nero e funghi porcini (Fettuccine with truffel) which was quiet different.. We were too stuffed for a dessert but the tiramisu looked great.. The wines were good too. I soo wanted to try their specialty Heart-shaped pizza. missed it :( .. If a restaurant called That's Amore serves heart-shaped pizza, how can I resist? We started with some house wine and went for the heart-shaped pizza. We stepped through the cramped, but cozy dining space and there was a lovely charm to the black and white photos on the pale, flowery wallpaper. I was happy to see some satin-y napkins compared to the material that leaves behind fuzzy bits of cotton. Sometimes the little details make a difference. Broccoletti e Salsiccia - mozzarella, broccoli, sausage: I don't recall why we ordered this pizza. Perhaps, it was because we had had so much pizza and pasta that embedding a vegetable into a pizza sounded like a good compromise. The pizza holds its shape very well due to its very crunchy crust. I would have liked it if the pizza was a tad softer, since my jaw got a little tired after all the chewing. The toppings were fun, but without sauce, a little more mozzarella would have helped. Spaghetti w/ seafood - sauteed mussels, clams, shrimp, squid tossed w/ spaghetti, olive oil, cherry tomatoes, parsley: Very good pasta, but a little dry. There was plenty of seafood, and they tasted sweet and fresh. I enjoyed eating my way through the shellfish massacre, but a little more olive oil would have tied the dish together better. The food and service were decent. I was happy to leave Rome having tried a heart shaped pizza. Maybe I would have enjoyed my meal more if one of the dishes I ordered was something more sauce-y or cream-based. read more
Located close to our hotel in a nice are of town. The service was a bit slow but overall good. The pizza was amazing, salad was fresh. Split the pizza and salad (between two)z. House wine and a Moretti go well with a simple yet delicious meal. Bravo! read more
Found this dinner spot for out last day in Rome and it was probably in the top 3 dinners (if not the top) our entire 3 week trip in Italy! I'll start with its highly recommended to make reservations but we got lucky and got one of the last non-reserved spaces left (bar seating). Also, if you are traveling solo, a bar seat was perfectly comfortable and the staff was super friendly - I would go back solo. We started with the Bruschetta. The bruschetta came with traditional (tomato and basil), basic (olive oil and garlic), and a caprese with pesto. The caprese (tomato and Buffalo mozzarella) with pesto was the best, the pesto was absolutely mouth watering. The other two were also great, fresh ingredients, bread perfectly toasted, and flavor was perfect! We ordered Fettuccine Al tartufo e porcini. The fettuccine was perfectly cooked with a smooth, light sauce. The mix of herbs and truffle oil paired just right and the fresh truffles were perfect. We also ordered Tonnarelli all's spigola. Pasta was also perfectly cooked, the sauce was light but just the right amount of flavor. The sea bass melted in your mouth, olives were perfectly tender and the tomatoes were extremely fresh. We couldn't pass up dessert seeing how amazing everything else was. We did a tiramisu and there were no regrets on that. It was moist, a nice balance of cocoa and expresso, and the best cap to dinner. As mentioned earlier, we sat at the bar. The staff was very fun (but sweet) appreciating our attempts to order in Italian (giving tips on pronunciation after a few laughs at my horrible Italian), checking on our meal, and the bartender was very friendly with having small conversations between making drinks. Service was just as amazing as the food! This would be one place I would go back to next trip to Rome! read more
As we were strolling the street looking for a dinner spot, That's Amor caught our eye when we saw a crowd near the door. After a quick glance at the menu, we decided this would be our first stop in Rome. Our Airbnb host also told us that you know a restaurant is good if there isn't a person trying to lure you in, so that was our first impression of the place. We overheard many people making reservations, but we luckily got a table for 3 right away. I ordered the Carbonara while also getting a taste of my friend's Fettuccine al Tartufo Nero e Funghi Porcini (Black Truffle Mushroom Fettuccine). We also complimented our meals with a bottle of white wine. As a huge fan of carbonara, this one was good but not amongst my favorites. The spaghetti may have been too al dente for me while the sauce was not as creamy in flavor either. On the other hand, the Black Truffle Fettuccine was amazing! I had to steal a couple bites from my friend wishing I had ordered that one instead. The pasta held such a nice truffle flavor with the shavings on top. Now that really is amor! read more
We were lucky, no reservations and seated immediately for lunch. We were a bit annoyed that our seating options were limited when it was only 75% at capacity. But I guess I understand bc shortly after it started to get packed. Nothing blew me away. I actually had to sprinkle salt on my seafood pasta since it needed more flavor. I tasted the risotto and it was super bland. Hubby was blown away by the salmon carpaccio, eh for me. Veggie appetizer was just ok too. The carbonara at the next table looked really good! I should've ordered that! Service was friendly. Liked how the servers remained calm and cheerful even when it got busy. Owners were in sight and one came by asking about our meal. The pizza here was simply superb when the hubs and I visited during our honeymoon. The place was simply packed, even on a super rainy day. I had the That's Amore calzone while the hubs had the Napoli pizza. The calzone was super huge. It was about half the pizza's size. The mozzarella was super thick and balanced well with the peppers, zucchini, and eggplant. Needless to say, it was very filling. The anchovies on the Napoli pizza were super salty. Though the pizza was simple, it was our fav pizza out of all the pizza's we tried during our Italy trip. This place is a must try! read more

I stumbled across this place when I was in Rome in 2018 - and am so glad I did! I was looking for a last min dinner spot near my hotel and they had a seat open at the bar. I got the truffle mushroom pasta with wine and omg it was the BEST meal I had the entire trip. Fast forward to last week, I went back to Rome and this time made reservations at That's Amore and it didn't definitely disappoint again!! I ordered the same dish and it was still just as good if not better!! This time we also ordered the eggplant appetizer and lamb chops and they were both phenomenal. The service was also amazing - our waiter was so attentive, funny and knowledgeable (he recommended the wine and it paired beautifully with our meal). Walked in about 5 pm and had no trouble getting a table. Food was the best we had during our week in Rome. We had the Spaghetti alla Amatriciana (pasta, tomato sauce, pork cheek and pecorino cheese) and Lasagna di Mia Nonna (both excellent). Followed up with the Agnelo al forno con patate (baked lamb with roasted potatoes) and Spigola ricoperta di verdure brasata alla vernaccia (sea bass with vegetables). Saw a lot of people having pizza so we'll have to go back and try it. Definitely recommend this place. read more
Ate here multiple times while visiting Rome since their food was out of this world. The Amatriciana was to die for!!!! My friend and I would order multiple entres and desserts each visit, just so we could experience their amazingness. It's an intimate restaurant and we made several friends while dining here. We were nervous about eating so close to a very touristy area BUT the food was delicious!!!! My husband had the grilled pistachio tuna - which was our favorite of the two dishes we ordered. I had meat lasagna which was tasty and typical for this area in Rome- I liked it but it's not any different than most of the area restaurants. Both glasses of the recommended wine - one Red and One White-paired perfectly with our meals (8 Euros each). The restaurant is small and quaint with a high energy vibe ( there were two large parties during our visit. We will definitely return for a follow up meal. In 2017 we discovered Thats Amore on our last day in Rome. Everything was awesome. I promised myself when I returned my first meal would be here Everything remains the same. The service and food are top notch. I had the filet mignon and my sister had the grilled vegetables dish and we shared two extra yummy appetizers. We enjoyed our dinner so much we went back a second time and everything was awesome. Be aware you should make reservations, this place is always busy. Even though the second time we did not have reservations they served wine to help with the wait how awesome is that . The place just screams Italy and romance. The black and white vintage photos of famous actors/ singers, the song Italian jazz music playing in the background, it's the perfect spot. We stopped here because of the name and the awesome ambiance. We ordered different pastas each: I got the mushroom truffle pasta and my boyfriend got the tomato gnocchi pasta. Shortly after both of them came out. The smell of both were fantastic. My truffle mushroom pasta was very creamy and the pesto sauce was the winner. Same with the gnocchi. The tomato sauce was extremely fresh and very cheesy as well. We were both extremely satisfied and it was our last lunch in Rome so we were very happy with it. read more

Key points: delightful restaurant with delicious food, friendly staff, and a very catchy name. When the moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie _______. I'm sure you've all heard Dean Martin sing it. That's the first thing I thought of when I saw the name of this restaurant on Yelp. At some point, our server even started busting out singing the song! This was our first meal in Italy, and it did not disappoint. Amatriciana - had to play it simple with this Basic ingredient pasta. The pastor had this fresh deli feeling that we don't quite get in the US. Prosciutto pizza - simple, elegant, and amazing. Another great thing is that the restaurant is very close, walking distance, to the Trevi fountain. The Mrs. and I walk there right afterwards. read more

Unfortunately this was the worst carbonara I had in Italy. It was so incredibly oily. This was my last meal in Italy so pretty disappointing. I couldn't finish it because it was just dripping in oil. My husband got the ragu and it was decent. We also had the suppli and bruschetta which weren't bad. Overall pretty bummed that this was my last meal in Italy read more

The place is near Trevi Fountain and there are bunch of other Italian restaurants near Trevi but it seems this place is packed and the other restaurants nearby are not, so it is better than what it is around the Trevi. The dining area is small and cramped and the sits are very tight and close to each other. The dining area also does not have AC but it has a a ceiling fans. The owner is at restaurant and he is very nice, personable and chatted with us for a while. The food: I had the fillet steak. The steak was OK. I thought that the sauce on it was too heavy and I just felt that it overpowered the meat. The rosemary potato ( the signature side) in Rome did not taste as good as other places that I had in Rome. All and all, this place is perhaps one of the most popular restaurants near Trevi fountain but it was the least favorite of other two places that I dined in Rome so far; my Sunday meal at Trattoria Il Tettarello and Monday lunch at Mamma Angela's Trattoria were far superior in taste. The price: Interestingly the food in Rome is cheaper than LA, Vegas or NY but the ingredients and quality is much higher. The mojito was OK- maybe I should have got Italian drink but I wanted something refreshing after 12K step in my watch and the drink was a dud in every sense. read more
