I'm extremely disappointed with my experience at Chris' Bakery. Unfortunately, I had already driven out of town when I discovered the problem, so I couldn't bring the food back. I contacted the bakery to explain what happened, but instead of offering a refund for the defective food, they offered me half off a different sandwich. Why would I want to spend more money at a place that just sold me food I couldn't even eat? Mistakes happen, but good customer service means making things right when the customer receives a bad product. I'm very disappointed with how this was handled and will think twice before spending my money here again.

I have food allergies, so I don't often get to enjoy cakes or sweet treats and definitely not treats that are baked to perfection like these cupcakes. 100% recommended. I usually adventure here with someone who eats regular cupcakes, and they have a huge selection of regular gourmet cupcakes. They come in two sizes, either regular or mini size. In case you don't eat gluten-free or dairy free, there is still something for everyone!

When I got home I realized that I had a classic carrot cake standard cupcake and a classic carrot cake mini cupcake. An understandable mistake, but disappointing, especially given the prices and the fact that I live pretty far away. The business has very pretty decor, and the people were really nice. I mentioned that I don't like hard sprinkles, and was told that if I call ahead of time, they can custom decorate them for me. It's worth the prices to just get a few little treats since I don't have a family and I don't want to bake a whole bunch just for myself, but they just tasted like regular cupcakes. Next time I'll have to try a more exotic flavor.

Only downside was the price. Seemed a tad bit steep for the amount of food. Still amazing quality, though.

When you order, if I remember correctly, you only get your items in a box if you order more than six items. If you order less they are placed into a waxed bag. I ordered the sour cream donut, Viking cup, and a butterhorn with almonds. I loved them all! They all tasted so fresh, had a great texture, and was absolutely yummy. The Viking cup had the perfect balance of frosting to bun.

There was a line out the door even 30 minutes before closing, but it went pretty fast and the shelves were also well stocked with pastries; not bare like I expected them to be coming so soon before closing. The person behind the counter explained that the Viking cups were all 20% off as the batch that day came out with irregular shapes. Taste wise it wasn't bad, tastes like a regular cinnamon roll but with more of that homemade touch you get with good quality ingredients and handmade cream cheese frosting (the contrast from store bought to homemade is big when it comes to cream cheese). The frosting had good texture and surprisingly I liked it better than the actual roll, especially since I'm known to always remove cream cheese icing. I think the roll would have been better if it had been served warm. Overall it was not bad, a little sweeter than I would have preferred, but I'm also not a huge cinnamon roll or cream cheese fan because of how sweet they always are in general, so that could just be a personal preference. Want to try the pecan roll or any of the cookies next time I visit, those sounded promising as well. Prices here are also pretty decent considering how touristy this place is, and coming from Seattle, anything under $5 is a relief. Definitely will become a place I hit every time I'm in Poulsbo!
