What I got

This is my sons first birthday smash cake. It was supposed to be a toasted marshmallow for a camping themed birthday. What I asked for vs what I got. This was over $45. It was a 5" cake.

a variety of cupcakes

That Takes the Cake is amazing. 9 years ago, I contacted them about making a wedding cake and they absolutely delivered! Recently, we took a little trip to the peninsula and HAD to stop for some cupcakes. I'm pretty sure we hadn't been by since we took a trip over for tasting 9 years ago. The cupcakes still taste just as amazing as they did back then! The champagne flavor is what we went with for our cake and is absolutely delicious. I was also blown away by the coconut cream flavor. My husband really liked the churro cupcake and I have to agree. There are 3 different sizes of cupcakes so you can get a bunch of different flavors to try. Definitely stop by if you're in town!

Stopped in a little late in the day. Selection was still fairly good. Donuts were fresh and deff lish. Only bummer was gluten free had a additional charge and nothing showed this. Friendly staff.

Carrot cake for the top tier and it was AMAZING! Champagne cake with raspberry was also super delicious! photo by Isaac Gautschi

Not only do I get their cupcakes whenever I am in town, I also had them make my wedding cake which was amazing. I could list all my favorite cupcakes but they are all really good. Basically, the cupcake is light, fluffy and flavorful yet delicate (regardless of which flavor you choose) and the frosting is always super delicious. They have three sizes of cupcakes , huge, large and small. My parents and I will get several small cupcakes and share them so we can have a variety. Options change seasonally. The owners are super friendly and it's definitely a jem in Sequim :)

Whether we are stopping in for their delicious **breakfast sandwiches and coffee** to start the day or picking up a variety of **sweet treats**, the quality is consistently amazing. We have also ordered **cupcakes** here on several occasions, and they never fail to impress--both in how they look and how they taste! Beyond the food, the atmosphere is what really sets them apart. They work incredibly hard, yet they are always so **friendly and welcoming** the moment you walk through the door. We even love getting gift certificates here to share with our students because we know they'll be treated to something special. I can't say enough great things about this business. If you want to support a hardworking local family and get the best baked goods in town, this is the place to go! The CRONUTS are to die for! I love the savory and the sweet and everything tastes fresh there compared to a store bought donut. My top favorites are the salted caramel croissant, Nutella topped Bavarian cream, or the cinnamon twist. Also the jalapeño cheese bread is incredible. Service always seems great and I enjoy taking to the ladies working there. Ambiance is chill and the bakery always smells lovely! Thank you to being the best bakery I've had the chance to visit on the island!!!

The bakery is located in the heart of Poulsbo, a charming Scandinavian-style town. There's usually a line, but we've been lucky during our visits and haven't had to wait too long. They offer a wide variety of freshly baked pastries, cakes, bread, and other sweet goods. We've tried several of their danishes and bundoughs, which were good, though some are bit on the sweeter side. Overall, we enjoyed our visits and the experience. The staff is friendly and welcoming. Definitely worth a stop if you're in the area!

Keeping an open mind that they offer a larger variety of pastries and goods I didn't try but my visit felt just average. While not overly impressed, I can appreciate a solid spot with fresh donuts and pastries managing high traffic. Line tends to be long but moves at a moderate speed, as the employees are open to chatting. Large Butterhorn - excessively sweet to a point where I felt sick of sugar because it's also pretty big. I personally would rather eat a fluffy donut because this felt more like a condensed block of sugar, but seems to be a favorite for others. Might just not be for me. Swedish Almond Pastry - while this was also super sweet, the almond flavor was able to pop out at times. Sliced almonds on top helped sprinkle some extra flavor but were ultimately consumed by the sweetness. A little flakier in texture which helped dissociate with the dense sugar block.
