This is a popular bakery in Poulsbo as there was a line out of door when we were there on a Sunday afternoon. Our friend took us to Poulsbo for the day and said that we must stop in here for some desserts to take home. It feels like an old fashion bakery when you step through the door and smells divine. They had these adorable giant gingerbread men glazed donuts so of course we had to get one! We also got their sweet black bread to try in addition to donuts and cupcakes. Everything was delicious.
Good bakery with a line. Service was friendly and quick. We probably missed some items. We went later in the day when there wasn't so much of a line.
This bakery was on every list of recommended places to visit in Poulsbo so I had to check it out. I was here on a Sunday at 9:45am and there was a short line but it moved quickly. All their baked goods looked amazing. I tried the pecan roll and Viking cup without the cream cheese frosting! Both were excellent and the perfect sweet treat.

Line tends to be long but moves at a moderate speed, as the employees are open to chatting. Large Butterhorn - excessively sweet to a point where I felt sick of sugar because it's also pretty big. I personally would rather eat a fluffy donut because this felt more like a condensed block of sugar, but seems to be a favorite for others. Might just not be for me. Swedish Almond Pastry - while this was also super sweet, the almond flavor was able to pop out at times. Sliced almonds on top helped sprinkle some extra flavor but were ultimately consumed by the sweetness. A little flakier in texture which helped dissociate with the dense sugar block.

The bakery is located in the heart of Poulsbo, a charming Scandinavian-style town. There's usually a line, but we've been lucky during our visits and haven't had to wait too long. They offer a wide variety of freshly baked pastries, cakes, bread, and other sweet goods. Amazing and worth the wait! Get in line, we waited 20 mins the line went quickly. The pricing is affordable (two large items for $8). Easy and friendly service and pretty spacious inside. They have a good system for getting customers in and out. So glad we stopped here and waited, delicious and perfect treat or breakfast.
One of the things that immediately tell you a bakery is legit, is when you buy way too many donuts (really not a thing) and its still fresh day 2 and day 3. Fine it was a lot of donuts but you cannot blame me. These guys are kings when it comes to making the perfect donuts. Cinnamon sugar is a must for me and it is gloriously cinnamony not a dash, or a hint, nope, she makes herself known. I'm also a sucker for a sugar donut so obviously I had to have that then add a few donuts wholes a coconut crunch and a few cookies and you'll be so happy you stopped by. Oh, did I not mention they are priced so ridiculously low, I don't know how they are not sold out by noon (also grateful that they are not cuz it takes me an 1.5 hours to get there hehe) Also let's not forget that their people are the most patient professional peeps out there.

What an amazing bakery! I heard this place has a line out the door and we were quite lucky with no line. There is no place to sit inside but there are sidewalk benches or you can walk as you snack. I love that you can look at all the pastries from the side walk. They not only entice you to get a pastry or three but you can plan out what you want while waiting in line. When you order, if I remember correctly, you only get your items in a box if you order more than six items. If you order less they are placed into a waxed bag. I ordered the sour cream donut, Viking cup, and a butterhorn with almonds. I loved them all! They all tasted so fresh, had a great texture, and was absolutely yummy. First time visiting after I tried going in the past and it was closed. I got the Viking cup, which was highly recommended by reviewers and the person taking my order. There was a line out the door even 30 minutes before closing, but it went pretty fast and the shelves were also well stocked with pastries; not bare like I expected them to be coming so soon before closing. The person behind the counter explained that the Viking cups were all 20% off as the batch that day came out with irregular shapes. Taste wise it wasn't bad, tastes like a regular cinnamon roll but with more of that homemade touch you get with good quality ingredients and handmade cream cheese frosting (the contrast from store bought to homemade is big when it comes to cream cheese). The frosting had good texture and surprisingly I liked it better than the actual roll, especially since I'm known to always remove cream cheese icing. I think the roll would have been better if it had been served warm. Overall it was not bad, a little sweeter than I would have preferred, but I'm also not a huge cinnamon roll or cream cheese fan because of how sweet they always are in general, so that could just be a personal preference. Want to try the pecan roll or any of the cookies next time I visit, those sounded promising as well. Prices here are also pretty decent considering how touristy this place is, and coming from Seattle, anything under $5 is a relief. Definitely will become a place I hit every time I'm in Poulsbo! read more

Sluys Bakery is a must taste, must go when you are in Poulsbo. It is located at the Historic Poulsbo waterfront. We salivated while we were checking out what they offer. They look so good. We bought a Viking cup and a loaf of cinnamon apple to take home. We enjoyed them. The cinnamon loaf was so good, toasted them and spread on butter. They offer a lot of things, not too sweet and perfect for my palate. Lots to choose from. Lines can be long but there a lot of people to help out. I would love to go back and try other things. read more

This small bakery right in downtown Poulsbo is definitely a new favorite of mine. We arrived pretty early in the morning which was a good call because by mid-day there was a line running out onto the sidewalk with people waiting to order their baked goods. The staff was very patient with us as we decided from the plethora of pastries and cakes they have to offer. I ended up trying one of the giant donuts and my girlfriend got a viking bowl which resembled a cinnamon roll in a cup shape filled with icing. Both items were delicious and very very sweet which I quite enjoyed. The price for each item seemed fair for the size and quality of the pastries that we had tried. I would definitely recommend this shop if you are looking for something sweet in the city of Poulsbo, just be prepared for a little wait whether outside or inside as the shop itself is fairly small. read more

The bakery items were good and very flavorful however they do pull a little bait and switch on some of the items. My suggestion is to pick your items like you would a steak at market, point at the one you want and say "I want that one". We got a few different pastries however as you can see from the photos the apple fritter we got in the bag was barely as big as the logo on the bag. The fritter on display in the case was huge, that was the same with pretty much all the other pastries except maybe the pecan roll. We did find it weird that they were pulling items from shelves behind the cases and not from the cases themselves. The line was long but it moved fast, that has to be blamed on all the tourist asking questions, being indecisive and those trying to make conversation with everyone around them. You know the kind. This may have been a true to online photo bakery at one point but now it's being run on tourist profit and they seem to be cutting corners to make as much money as possible during tourist season. It would be interesting to see how it's run in the off season but we probably won't be back. read more

Fantastic bakery in Poulsbo! A must visit.. they lnow how to bake their breads with utmost flavor.. we got their chocolate cake donut and regular chocolate glazed donuts along with a couple of coconut chocolate cookies and it was delish! Every bite was so fresh and the donuts were sweet but not overly sweet. They have a variety of freshly baked breads and donuts, fritters, cookies, etc. There is always a line but it keeps moving fast. Helps if folks make up their mind (i know its hard to pick) before they get to the counter. But the line does move fast. Until then enjoy the display of freshly baked goods. Highly recommend this place when in Poulsbo. read more

Oh hell yea! Totally glad we had this on our list to try while visiting the area. You can smell the bakery wafting in the air down the sidewalk. Stopped by midday, wasn't much of a line, so we were able to take a look and decide our game plan. We wanted a lot of items, but we decided to get the Maple Doughboy, Custard Filled, Apple Fritter and the Swedish Almond Pastry. All were so good, fresh, and perfect softness and nice outside texture. Didn't taste like generic donuts from the grocery store and not overly sweet. Staff was very efficient, helpful and quick to bag it up and get you all rung up. Prices were good so you can buy a bunch of items. My kind of bakery, you can tell why they've been in business for over 50 years! Worth coming by to check out when in town. read more

a little improvement on your customer service would be great the girls working seems like they need a much needed break not friendly at all.
