I have to agree with Stephanie C in regards to the review of this place. I went in and really wanted to like it as well. However, it seems that the food is 100% whitewashed and no hint of authenticity which to me was a downer because they are Thai. I had the soft spring rolls, satay, tom yum soup which were tasteless and did not think it could get worse until my entree arrived which was pad kra time. It looked like something made with hamburger helper and tasted even worse. In all the years I have eaten Thai food this did not come close to Thai. I think it is centered to a different crowd. Good Thai food. I usually dine during my lunch time. It gets quite busy though because they have a good lunch special list. It comes with soup eggroll and rice, depending on what entree you order. That's why I havent gone during my lunch lately because the wait could be a while and I don't have that long of a lunch time. I try to go after 1:00. The crab rangoon and eggrolls are good. I like the basil fried rice and green curry. The pad thai is alright. I had the appetizer sampler and green curry friend rice with chicken. Out of the sampler the dumplings were the best. I'd probably get an order of just the dumplings next time. The green curry fried rice was an extremely large portion for the price and had a great curry flavor. The atmosphere is a little bland but they make up for it with the food. read more

We stumbled on this place when plans at a nearby restaurant fell through. And we are so glad we did! It doesn't look like much from the outside, but the service was outstanding and the food was wonderful!! The dumplings were so delicious, we ordered a second helping. The first time I came here, I was told there would be absolutely no substitutions. None. Zero. WE DON'T DO THAT! (even after I assured her I didn't mind paying extra) That definitely dampened my excitement about having a new Thai place in the neighborhood, but I was determined to give it one more chance--and I'm glad I did. My boyfriend and I have been several times in the last few months. They're starting to recognize us when we walk in, which is nice. The food is tasty, the restaurant is clean, and they usually have decent music playing unobtrusively, which I appreciate. My boyfriend and I agree, however, that if this restaurant fails, it will be because of the spotty service. It is practically nonexistent unless you make significant and prolonged eye contact and throw in a wave or two. read more

They have a good lunch special: entree, soup and egg roll for about $7-$15. I had their coconut chicken soup (Tom Ka) and their Pad Thai. The soup was wonderful and had a hint of coconut cream, chicken, jalepenos and lemon grass. Everyone at my table finished every last sip. My co-worker who hasn't liked thai food in the past even liked it and wanted to steal another co-worker's soup. The Pad Thai tasted great as well. Better than Madam Mam's Pad Thai (don't get me wrong, Madam Mams has a lot of other AWESOME dishes like their F3 Pad Se Ew - I'm just saying that for this dish, Thai Taste tastes better to my taste buds). What a great find! I was not sure what to order because I can not eat spicy food. The waitress went through the whole menu for me of all the non spicy options! I was really impressed by her efforts to help me understand what would be a good choice. I ended up ordering the Pad Thai which was amazing. The best Pad Thai I have eaten to date. Top of my list for Asian restaurants for food. Have never eaten inside but I've had take out many times cause it is close to home. Pork Pad Thai is my favorite. But I love their Tom Kah soup, shrimp spring rolls, pineapple fried rice...always fresh. Their dumplings are my kids favorite. I've gotten a handful of to-go orders from this place, and have been pretty pleased. We've tried a few of their noodle dishes - Pad See Me and Pad See You (seriously, not a who's on 3rd joke!) and of course their Pad Thai, their Pineapple Fried Rice is a go-to dish for us as well as the Mussamun Curry (especially w/Tofu - not many places I've been to can get the Tofu texture just right in this dish). Their prices are reasonable and portions are very generous - I can only comment on take-out, doesn't seem like the most fun place to eat in, but definitely a go-to for to-go! read more

Phenomenal! This is the best Thai restaurant I have been to in Austin! Growing up in an international community, I tend to have a very strict opinion on what Thai food should taste like. While the spice has been reduced for American taste, this is very similar to the stuff I used to invite myself to my friend's home for. The portions are very generous and the price is beyond fair. Ordered food for a weekend dinner. The place was kind of deserted when we arrived; the sparse look further added to the emptiness.. Ordered two dishes one the red curry and the other with peanut sauce. The red curry was just okay, wish it had some more flavor to it. The peanut sauce based dish was just too sweet, but thats more to do with my taste I think. Ordered the pad Thai and it was some of the best pad Thai I've ever had! I asked for it spicy and they gave me the option of level 1, 2 or 4. I went with 2. This is a good Thai Restaurant for Austin. It's a great place to go in a pinch. I probably eat here more often than other restaurants mainly because we love curry so much and their prices are reasonable. The decor is sparse and cold, the servers are nice. Like most asian restaurants the wait staff will not faun all over you. They are there to take your order and bring your food. They will always make sure your water glass is full. read more

My husband and I recently moved into the southwest area and have been trying local places. We popped into Thai Taste last night and were very pleased with both the food and the service. The green curry was delicious and they were able to take the heat down just a little for me. My husband loved his Thai soup, which they spiced up quite a bit for him. Our server and the cook both came to check on us and make sure the spices were as we wanted. We will be putting this on our rotation of places to visit on a regular basis! read more

Definately a fan of this place. Their food is pretty good, not great, but it hits the spot. This place is close to our house and one of our "go to" places when we have a craving for Asian food. The cook (Kip?) is super nice and will come out every once in a while to see how we are doing. We like their Spicy Beef noodle soup (could use more noodles), yellow curry, and Tom Yum Fire pot. The Pad See You is also really good and one of my kid's favorite. Very tasty but again could use more noodles. read more

I love the food at Thai Taste. I'm fond of the red and green curries with tofu and vegetables or the Panang curry. The food is always excellent. I like it a bit more than Madam Mams, my previous favorite Austin Thai restaurant. The service was weird at first, the staff being a little shaky with English, but they have improved. The booths are spartan and uncomfortable. But the excellent food and price make it our favorite Oak Hill restaurant. read more

I work in the area and found this place about a month ago. Now I'm a regular, sometimes coming 4 days out of the work week. Without a doubt, it's quickly become my favorite place to eat in Oak Hill.
