    Spicy Chicken Teriyaki

Simply the best chicken teriyaki I've ever had! Chicken had great flavor and char. It was cooked perfectly. Chili sauce on top is a nice touch. This place is in a food truck park with plenty of parking and outdoor seating. It's also dog friendly.

It was ok. The rice was very mushy like it had too much water in it. And the teriyaki sauce tasted water down.

So the waiter came out and served me the green tea and the mango flavored Sake. By this time his English was a struggle. It was time to order my meal and ordered the Chicken wings with the Tempura California roll sushi. It took a while but I didn't mind. He was trying to make sure my order came out soon. First the Chicken wings was different with a sweet sauce and yogurt dip with celery, I thought interesting way to make Chicken wings. It was flavorful and I was very happy. The Sushi grant it was made very well and the rolls were not the standard size it was larger This was a happy hour, and love to see what great happy hour drinks and food on the menu. This by far was delicious perfectly rolled. AAAAPLUS....by this time I like desert so I ordered the Banana Tempura with vanilla ice cream. Yes! It was a slam dunk crispy and sweet. Perfect! By far this is the best calamari we've eaten (and we test it at every Asian restaurant). Large selection of rolls and ala carte sushi and sashimi- we filled up before the yakisoba came out. Huge serving of chicken was served with the noodles, which were prepared to order with chili paste to make them perfectly extra spicy. Unlike many restaurants, soup and salad were served with the yakisoba entree and overall this made the meal a good value. Overall we were pleasantly surprised to have leftovers and a reasonable bill. The dining room is large and nicely decorated. Servers were attentive and friendly. Thomas was our main server and he took great care of us. We did not sit at a hibachi table but could see them nearby and it's quite a show. We will return and try that another evening. Highly recommend!

We did a google search and this place was about 15 minutes away so we went on a Friday night before our movie. We got there at 6pm and got sat right away which was awesome. The place was huge and clean. The servers were super nice. My sister and I ordered one plate and shred it while my husband got his own. We ordered the soft shell crab but was disappointed which is why it was only 4 stars. It was so heavily battered that we couldn't even taste the crab itself. I'd say to do a light batter for this before frying. The best part of a soft shell crab is the taste of the crab not the batter. But all in all I'd come back!

The sushi restaurants start making a lot of their rolls with "spicy" ingredients. They are cutting their costs by blending ingredients. Not my favorite choice in a sushi place. Treated like the regular I was, always phenomenal service, offered me special off menu items on every visit, the freshest fish, exquisite presentations...just wow. And a great happy hour to boot. Thennnnnnn... About a year prior to my last restaurant visit, I had ordered an extra large assortment of items ($$$$) for delivery for a special occasion at home. It had been a while, but I noticed immediately something was "off." Bottom line, everything was just sloppy and not as fresh as it always had been in the past. I chalked it up to delivery versus dine in. There was something in the back of my mind though that told me that Chef Sun would never have let those items leave the restaurant. Fast forward to in-house dining again. Visible wear and tear on the restaurant interior (looks old). A few plates were even chipped. Might sound nitpicky, but in my humble opinion they need to reinvest some money into the restaurant to get it back up to its shiny self. The service was lackluster, slow, cordial but not necessarily friendly. Some of my favorite menu items (such as the yummmmmy sea bass) are no longer available. Prices were significantly higher than they used to be; however, that's everywhere right? Pft. Decided to order some "safe" dishes that had always been personal favorites. Go to "Red Hill Tower" was served first. The presentation was all right. Not as meticulous as it used to be. When I dug in mixed it all together I noticed how horrible the knife work was. I mean they butchered the tuna. Knife skills are very important in sushi. Many chefs train for years. Flavor was a-okay with all the house sauces, but for 20 bucks it left me wanting more. Gyoza was greasy and chewy. Rice in California Roll was on the dry side. Katsu was also quite dry and lacked flavor. Admittedly the vegetable tempora was pretty tasty. Not surprisingly, I was informed that the restaurant had been purchased by new owners quite some time ago. All of the changes are so apparent, and none are positive. Quality control and pride of stellar presentation and service has disappeared. Tadashi is now (sobbing) sadly just another subpar sushi restaurant with much higher prices than most. Goodbye my old friend. I have no intentions of returning. :(

I was also craving some poke, so was happy to see it on the menu. Location wise, Don is super close to the TSU campus, just off N LBJ Dr. It's located within a small square, along with several other small shops (tattoo shop, hair studio). Outdoors - good amount of free parking available via the attached lot; indoors - order at the counter, then find a seat at one of the long tables. There's also complimentary fortune cookies at the self-service counter. All the food comes in to-go boxes. Salmon Poke ($13.50, 4/5) - The salmon was tasty but could've done with a little less salt - Generous portions. Also really liked the addition of ginger and seaweed salad to the dish - Highlights were the different mayo sauces (curry, wasabi, spicy) - my favorite was the wasabi! Overall, Don is a straightforward, no frills spot with good energy and customer service. Food was good and very filling as well. I'd recommend checking out Don if you're looking for an affordable, asian fusion option near campus!
