This place came highly recommended by my boyfriend who recently discovered it and has been ordering takeout from here. The restaurant is really nicely decorated inside and even has a full bar. We stopped by this past Sunday for an early Father's Day dinner and thankfully for us it was not super crowded. We ordered the crispy egg rolls to start and they were so good! Super crispy on the outside and soooo flavorful. I also ordered a lychee martini which was delicious and happened to be $2 off for happy hour. YASSSSS! For our entrees, I ordered the Pad See Ew with chicken, and my boyfriend got the Thai Drunken Noodles with chicken and beef. Both dishes were soooo good. We ordered them at a medium spice level, which was perfect for us. It definitely had my nose running a little but in a good way, not in an overwhelming way. My boyfriend's dad ordered his dish Thai spicy and even he struggled to finish it. This man can handle spice, so the fact that he was surprised says a lot. There's definitely a reason they warn you before ordering it that way! Overall, we had great service throughout our visit which was consistent with everything my boyfriend had told me beforehand. The staff was super friendly and attentive. Multiple people checked in with us to get refills, orders, make sure everything was ok, etc. One quick note on parking: the lot says paid parking but that only applies if you're there for more than two hours. For a normal meal, you should be totally fine.

This was my first time trying this place. We ended up going because they were open until 11, and there honestly weren't many spots still open after 10 in the area. We ordered everything to-go, and I attached a screenshot of what we got along with the prices. The teriyaki chicken was a little underwhelming for me and probably not something I'd order again. But I really liked the drunken noodles, they were flavorful and had a good level of spice without being too overpowering. My other favorite was the mango & sweet sticky rice, just best food to end the meal. The soup/curry was also very flavorful. The restaurant itself was really cute and had a more elevated vibe than I expected. I could definitely see it being a nice date spot. The employees were also really friendly and helpful when I asked for recommendations.

New-ish restaurant that is definitely still working out some kinks. The food overall was actually decent, but our overall experience was very off. The restaurant itself is pretty cute inside. The service and flow of the evening was off schedule from the start - slow at the host stand, slow to get menus / water once seated, strange rhythm of food and cocktails coming out. Background music cutting in and out. Bathroom was not clean. Those are just a few observations. I think part of the issue is they seemed short staffed, not even having a dedicated bar tender, etc. Food: we got the appetizer sampler and like their money balls the best. Their spicy salmon rolls were decent. There oysters were ok. Food came out at very delayed increments.

Parking is not free and in small shopping center. Restaurant was empty of patrons. Restaurant lacked decorations and vibes, felt like white sterile hospital. Food was just ok, nothing special. Nicely presented but lacked taste. I was not a fan of the food, we just ate apps and asked for check. Won't be returning.

Everything we ordered was good .. the sushi was okay ... the service was good .. we went around lunch time and got seated right away. The food came out quick and enough time to leave for the free parking limit in the parking lot. Fav: Drunken Noodles and the Tiger Cry Steak

I'm not usually a big Thai food fan and tend to gravitate towards other Asian cuisines, so it took me a while to try this place, but I'm glad I finally did. They have a raw bar with everything from oysters and sushi to even ceviche. Everything we tried was delicious, including the cocktails. The food was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. The restaurant is bright, clean, and modern has a nice patio. Sarah was our server and was incredibly friendly, as was the rest of the team. Will definitely be back.

Solid four stars. I was shocked to see the Thai spice was no longer there. I guess it's been a long time since I've eaten off 19th St. in the Heights. I noticed the name change on Google, but I didn't realize Google had the old location still active and that they didn't update to let us know that it's been replaced by Thai Tapas. Would that being said I'm glad we stopped in and gave it a try anyway. Food: I was impressed with the Pad Thai . It was exceptionally good. My girls dish was good as well. I can't remember what she had, though. I think it was drunken noodles. I don't recall, but it was good. Everything was made fresh and full of flavor. I will definitely come back and try their pad Thai again. The customer service is great. The decor on the inside is nice. I will definitely come back and try their food again. It's something different, it's a Japanese. I guess Thai fusion mix, but it works. Great job team.

Thai Tapas offers a high end intimidate dine in experience with flavorful Thai food. I had an opportunity to do take out and it did not disappoint. The food stayed hot and had a strong punch of spice flavor. Highly recommend to try their stir fried noodles. The service was quick and simple from placing a pick up order and picking up the food. Upon entering the ambiance was very modern and provides an intimidate experience.

This spot has had a couple of Thai restaurants come and go, but the new ownership at Thai Tapas seems to have finally gotten it right. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. It's definitely a step up from the previous places in the same space. The portions weren't huge but still filling. The tom yum tasted more like a Vietnamese-style hot and sour soup than a traditional tom yum, but it was still tasty. The tom kha was decent, though I've had better elsewhere. The drunken noodles were moist, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. The pad woon sen was very flavorful as well. All the dishes had generous portions of meat. The service was friendly, attentive, and quick. The decor was modern and stylish. I'll definitely be back to try some more dishes.

Thai Tapas (Thai Japanese Sushi Bar) has Thai plates and sushi rolls, nigiri, and more. Thai Tapas is located near our home and is one of our favorite Thai places near us. We particularly like the pad see ew, tom yum soup, oysters, and panang curry. We have gotten the spice levels two to four before, and the levels 2-3 are easy to handle. The level four has a kick to it, and an especially extra kick for the panang curry and papaya salad, but not too bad on the other dishes. We have tried a sushi roll once, but honestly, it was a pass. I would just get the Thai dishes. I got the tom yum soup when I was feeling a bit sick, and it was perfect. The tom yum was a good balance between sweet and sour. The panang curry is sweet and spicy and comes with a good amount of rice. The pad see ew and pad Thai are consistent. The osyters come with this thick, sweet and spicy sauce, which goes well on top of the oysters. Service was efficient and very nice every time I have visited, and there is plenty of free parking (for two hours). Thai Tapas has a variety of dishes and is one if my go-to for Thai food in the Heights.

Came for our 6 year anniversary tonight and this was everything and more. The Thai food is made with so much love and care. The Japanese food is made with high quality ingredients and mouth filling umami flavors. 10/10 no freaking notes at all! Will be back for the beautiful views and amazing service.

The beef fried rice could of have had more flavor, but was overall good. The chicken satay was good. The branzino was really good. The spice level is odd. We asked for a 3/5 and it was not spicy at all. Not like a oh I have a high tolerance for spicy, but not spicy at all. We asked for the chili paste and stuff to make it spicy. But I'd come back. It was good.

Loved our time here for the happy hour! All the food was really good! We ordered multiple orders of the apps: golden bags, shrimp dumplings, curry puffs. I randomly came across a new Thai restaurant today, it's only been open for about a month. The place is a Thai Japanese Sushi & Bar. I went mainly to try the sushi , and it was really good -- fresh and tasty. If you like raw fish, you'll probably enjoy it, but even if you don't, they also have Thai dishes on the menu. Today I ordered the Pad Kee Mao (Drunken Noodles), and it was really flavorful and nicely spicy . I'll definitely come back next time to try more Thai dishes. read more

Lovely ambiance promised a wonderful experience: nice sized tables with marble tops, chic gold toned lamps and cutlery, and comfy seating. A friendly server greeted us promptly, took our drink order, and made some recommendations. A trainee stopped by to take our appetizer order, and my husband ordered grilled calamari from the specials. Then things took a less pleasant turn; a new server took over our table; watching further interactions between the two, I suspected a hostile takeover. We received the starter-fried instead of grilled. He asked for spice level on our soups (1-5) we ordered a 2 & a 3. My hubby and I both like some spice - jalapeños, Thai peppers, scotch bonnet - but our soups were too spicy to enjoy. We flagged down the waiter and asked for my husband's Pad Thai to be downgraded to a 1 spice level. Oysters came out- not huge but okay. My shrimp dumplings came out - again just okay. My spicy salmon roll could have come from HEB. Meanwhile my husband is still waiting for his meal. It finally appeared- good, but not amazing. At least it wasn't too hot to eat. Next time I'll go to our neighborhood Thai place, with less lovely ambiance, less drama, and better food. read more

Came here for a late night bite -- was craving Thai on a Sunday night and it was 10pm. It's a nice quiet place and the food was good but prices for "tapas" style is pretty up there, portions aren't tiny but they're not your typical serving size. One thing I wish I didn't order was the fries, it was extremely basic and because I added truffle and Parmesan it knocked it up to pretty much 10 dollars for like 30 fries that were just covered in some dust. read more

I had such a great experience at Thai Tapas and I have to give a special shoutout to our server, Denise. She was genuinely one of the highlights of our visit. From the moment we sat down, she was so welcoming, attentive, and kind in a way that didn't feel forced at all. She checked on us at the perfect times, gave amazing recommendations, and made sure everything came out just right. The food was fresh and flavorful, the kind that makes you want to come back the next day. The sushi was beautifully made, and the Thai dishes had that perfect balance of spice and flavor. You can tell the restaurant really takes pride in what they serve. But honestly, Denise made the whole experience even better. She had such a calm, friendly energy and made us feel taken care of the entire time. Service like that turns a good dinner into a great one. Food is very tasty, several steps up from the previous owners and in fact I would have given it 4 stars if it weren't for the prices. I understand prices are going up and the restaurant deserves to make money as well but it's getting out of hand. I have noticed prices are up at least 15pct per dish as compared to the previous owners 4 Months ago, some more, but they also cut portions for to go orders by half!! I always just pick up and haven't ordered in yet. Needless to say yesterday when I picked up my order at 7pm the place was dead, in fact only 1 patron. read more

This establishment was previously Thai Spice from the 90s - 2020s. Changed to Zapvor with a new chef / owner the last past 3yrs or so. Now, a New Owner and Mgmt. It's ok. Me & my husband ordered to-go here last night and everything we had was delicious! We got the fresh summer soft roll, pad thai, and pad rama peanut. I like how you can customize everything with your specific protein, or just veggies/tofu. The summer soft roll was fresh, warm & delicious (but it did not come precut like it shows on the menu), the pad thai was pretty standard but very tasty - I did order medium spice and it wasn't very spicy, and the pad rama peanut was really yummy - my husband ordered the mild spice and his was spicier than mine! One thing to note is we ordered to-go and the website said it would be ready in 5-10 minutes, and it ended up being closer to 40 minutes, so I did end up waiting in the restaurant for a bit. May just be something that needs to be updated on their website. The restaurant was cute inside, and they were checking up on me while I was waiting which I appreciated. Overall, we really enjoyed Thai Tapas and we will for sure be visiting again! read more

Our Story Thai Tapas was created from a shared passion for great food, warm hospitality, and the flavors we grew up with. After the success of our sister restaurant, Thai Town, our team wanted to bring something fresh and exciting to the Heights — a place where friends, families, and neighbors could gather, share, and enjoy a wide variety of dishes in one experience. We combined the bold, comforting flavors of authentic Thai cuisine with the delicate artistry of Japanese small bites to create a menu that’s vibrant, modern, and perfect for sharing. The menu is such a fun mix of Thai classics and Japanese small bites -- we tried everything from Calamari Crunch , Soft roll, Spicy Octopus Citrus Salad fresh oysters with Thai seafood sauce and each dish was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. I don't think I will be returning here as the food wasn't that great but maybe the regular non reverse happy hour is better ?

The nigiri was fresh and high quality, the Cornish hen was tender and reminded us of a Vietnamese-inspired marinade, and the crudo was unique with cucumber and a jelly component that added an interesting contrast of textures. The dessert was also a nice way to end the meal. That being said, my girlfriend and I weren't really impressed by any of the dishes. The biggest disappointment was probably the Wagyu lumpia. It wasn't bad by any means, but it mostly tasted like an upscale egg roll and wasn't as memorable as we had hoped. Overall, Oru delivered a solid dining experience with quality ingredients and thoughtful presentations. I would absolutely recommend it to others looking for a special occasion dinner. However, despite enjoying the meal, I don't think it's a place we would go back to.

We each got a rice bowl and shared the stuffed mushroom appetizer. I opted for the gyudon beef bowl. It came with very tender cubed ribeye and mushrooms on top of flavorful rice. I would've liked if it had more beef though. The stuffed mushrooms were fried and crispy, although the "stuffing" was lacking as well. The katsu kare don was one of the better tonkatsu I've tried and very reasonable for the price too. I'd probably go with that one if I come back.

I eat, don't get a drink refill, and there's very little interaction or actual service after that. Then the receipt comes with the tip section circled, stars and smiley faces drawn on it, and "suggested tip" amounts starting at 18%. For minimal service, I personally don't think customers should feel pressured or guilted into tipping nearly 20%. Suggested tips are suggestions, not obligations. Customers should be able to decide what feels fair based on the level of service they actually received. The food was fine, but the aggressive tip expectation leaves a bad impression.

I can not wait to come back because it was so much more to partake and try that I know I will have to make at least 3-4 trips to go through the entire menu.
