Had Jellyfish delivered to the house tonight. Good, respectable sushi. Especially delivered. Rolls were good, nigiri fine. Edamame was good. Soup - ok. Nothing wrong, I think I would have preferred miso. My fault. I'd order from them again.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Jellyfish Sushi & Grill is a casual, family-friendly spot in a strip mall with plenty of parking.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]We went on a Sunday evening with our 14-month-old and saw lots of other kids, which made dining out easier.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They had high chairs and quick service, which we appreciated. I ordered three rolls--the Jellyfish, Texas Himachi, and Cherry Blossom. They were fine, but nothing I'd go out of my way for. My husband's hibachi chicken and shrimp came with soup, salad, and veggies, and he swapped in fried rice for an extra charge. Our son's kid's teriyaki chicken was simple, but it worked for him. Service was great--our waiter was attentive and checked in often. The food? Just okay. If you want a quick, no-fuss meal with the family, it does the job, but don't expect anything special.

Jellyfish is located in the Garden Oaks area north of 610 on Ella. It's a neighborhood sushi spot; it is not high end sushi reinventing Japanese cuisine but is a more casual spot near the house. I came by for lunch and got a couple of rolls (crazy Irishman and skydiver roll; both roll names remind me of Azuma's old menu). We also got a couple of nigiri; chopped scallop, whole scallop, ebi, and unagi. Honestly everything was alright; nothing was great and besides the whole scallop, nothing was bad. Everything tasted as expected of a neighborhood spot but the seafood quality and presentation was definitely below the higher end sushi spots. TLDR neighborhood spot in the Garden Oaks area with reasonable sushi. Service for us was quite slow through the whole meal but they could have been shortstaffed for lunch service.

Had never dined here before, but was pleasantly surprised by my experience my first time. The sushi prices were very reasonable, and everything was very flavorful. They offer a lunch special, buy two rolls get either a miso soup or house salad for free. Will definitely be back!

As an avid sushi connoisseur who sticks to her top places and rarely strays, I am SO happy I took a chance one Jellyfish. It might have outdid my top spot (it definitely did). The waiter so was friendly and attentive, the onion soup (not pictured) reminded me of my childhood, and the sushi...omg...the SUSHI. First off I got Salmon and Hamachi nigiri and it was probably one of the freshest pieces I've had in a while. The salmon was so buttery and the yellowtail didn't have that dark red like that can give it a gamey taste. It was perfect and the flavor was on POINT. Now for my salmon avo roll add cucumber, they did not hold back with the filling. Butter salmon, fresh crunch or cucumber, and the creamy avocado all together was literally chefs kiss. I will be back here with my friends and family expeditiously! My absolute only critiques are: (1) I am not the biggest fan of the pink ginger as it can be thicker than pickled ginger (I don't mind though just a preference) (2) The gyoza was okay, but could be better!

This does not look on the outside as somewhere i would think has amazing sushi but it does. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The inside is much nicer so don't judge a restaurant by its looks[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] they have a nice menu and especially for those that do not or cannot eat seafood. We got the onion soup, house salad and the mixed tempura shrimp & veggies it was all very fresh and tasty. We got the Ichago and tiger eye. They were very tentative and clean. Surprisingly very affordable too. Service wonderful

Jellyfish Sushi & Grill is a casual Japanese restaurant located in a somewhat rundown strip mall, but at least there's plenty of free parking. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We visited on a Sunday evening with our 14-month-old son and immediately noticed that it's very family-friendly--several other families with kids were dining, and they provided high chairs, which was convenient.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The menu offers a mix of hibachi entrées, nigiri sushi, and rolls. I ordered the House Delight Hibachi Entrée ($23), which included chicken and shrimp grilled with light seasoning, along with onion soup, ginger salad, hibachi vegetables, and fried rice (an extra $3). My son had the Kid's Teriyaki Chicken ($8), which was just teriyaki chicken and white rice. My wife tried three sushi rolls: 1) Jellyfish Roll ($15) - Spicy tuna, sliced pepper tuna, cucumber, gochujang, and microgreens. 2) Texas Himachi Roll ($15) - Yellowtail, shrimp tempura, sliced jalapeño, and ponzu sauce. 3) Cherry Blossom Roll ($14) - Cucumber, avocado, microgreens, salmon, tuna, ponzu sauce, scallions, and soy paper. Overall, the food was fine--nothing special, but it was not bad either. The flavors were decent, but nothing really stood out. The service, however, was great--our waiter checked on us frequently and made sure we had everything we needed. If you're looking for a fast, casual spot for a quick Japanese meal with family, this place works. If you're after high-quality sushi or standout hibachi flavors, you might want to look elsewhere.

First time here and was hoping to find a new lunch spot. I was very disappointed with my rainbow roll - there was barely any fish (just a sliver of a piece) on the top of each piece. Very expensive for 8 rice bites.

Overall amazing! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Don't judge by its outdoor view.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]We were mesmerized at how clean and comfy the restaurant was.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

This place is great for a quick dinner!! We ordered the caterpillar roll, orange dragon roll and rainbow roll. They were all delicious and tasted very fresh! We also got the chicken gyoza, which was hot and crispy. The service was very fast and attentive and the ambiance was pretty cool. I like the music - very vibey and overall the restaurant is clean! I will be back.

A coworker brought me here for lunch after hearing me state that there were no good sushi options around for lunch. Yes, I was wrong! This is a small and cozy place located in the heights area. We came during lunch hours on a Friday and it was not packed. My friend highly recommended the veggie roll so we ordered that and the spicy edamame to start. I mean WOW! The veggie roll was amazing. So simple and so delicious! The spicy edamame was missing spice for me but was still very flavorful. For my entrée I ordered the lunch special which came with a roll and a 4 pieces of sashimi. The fish tasted super fresh and just melted in my mouth. I can't remember what I got as far as the roll goes but I just know it was delicious! There was only one server for the whole restaurant and he still managed to be fast and friendly. I'm so grateful to have found this place close by and I will definitely be back!

This is just what I ordered

Great food and great service!! Their sushi was soo fresh. They gave us this miso soup and salad just to start us off it was small but just nice in general. Will be coming back.

Came here for a late lunch on a Friday and it was pretty empty. Service was quick and our server was friendly. We are from out of my town but have visited Jellyfish many times because my partner absolutely loves the Shaggy Dog rolls. It is his all time favorite ever. We also tried the Hibachi Fried Rice for the first time. It wasn't very flavorful but a little soy sauce goes a long way. The pricing is expensive in my opinion and on par with NY/California prices. However the sushi rolls are good so if you are looking for good sushi selection, I recommend.

Upon arrival, I was told that I could not sit at the sushi bar and eat. If I wanted to order I had to go sit in the common area of this dining hall. After this discussion, I said fine and asked for a menu. They then told me I had to get up and order at the register and view the menu glued to the counter. They took the order of a couple who sat down maybe 2 minutes before me in front of me. I will never come back to this place. They seem to be the last man standing in this dining hall, and with this kind of customer service, they won't last much longer. It's a shame because I love the food and I am a regular at handies and aiko as well. Won't be back to any of them.

I got the pan daiquiri as my drink to start and my friend got the herbed lavender lemonade. For food we shared the hamachi crudo, the chutoro nigri, the kanpachi nigiri, the A5 tartare, the kani handroll, The kinoko yasaimono, and the hot scallop dish to share. The pan daiquiri was SO good. The smokiness from the mezcal hits you first and then the sweet and creamy after taste takes over. It was so well mixed and I would highly recommend trying this if you are a mezcal lover like me. (9/10) The herbed lavender lemonade was too tangy and sweet for my liking. The lavender flavor get lost in the drink. It tasted like a typical lemonade, nothing special. (5/10) The hamachi crudo was so fresh and I really enjoyed the sweet and tangy broth. I'm not sure I would call it tom kha broth but it tasted good regardless and paired well with the tomatoes. (7.5/10) The chutoro nigiri was SO buttery and melt in your mouth delicious. I would definitely get this again. (8.8/10) The kanpachi nigiri was fresh and I enjoyed the sauce paired with it. It was my first time trying amberjack and I liked it. (7/10) The A5 tartare was super unique and well seasoned. There was plenty of tartare compared to the amount of milk bread you are given to eat it with. The uni, caviar, pate and waygu all mixed together was a decadent combination full of flavor. My only note was the contrast in temperatures that I did not love, the tartare came cold while the milk bread was warm. Overall, a very luxurious and tasty dish. (8/10) The kani handroll surpassed my expectations. Typically I don't go for crab first, but I did enjoy the flavors paired with the crab and the hand roll was well filled. (7.8/10) The kinoko roll (king trumpet mushroom roll) really surprised me. I was weary about getting this roll because I normally don't opt for vegan options, but this king mushroom was so well prepared and the sauce was so delicious that dare I say that I enjoyed this more than some of the fish/meat sushi rolls I've had in the past. (8/10) The hot scallop dish was one of the best bites of the night. The scallop was perfectly charred and cooked and the creamy polenta base with the umami salmon roe, with the fried red cabbage to add texture was amazing. I would definitely order this again. (9/10) Overall, I really enjoyed my time at Aiko and the food surpassed my expectations. I loved everything I tried and do want to come back to try more. The service was quick and helpful with the menu. Parking can be a bit tricky, but there are some free street parking spots around the plaza. The ambiance is definitely upscale and classy. It's a great place for a date! My only complaint was that I made a reservation for 2 at least a week in advance and upon arrival, though they had plenty of open tables, we were seated at the opposite end of a table that was already occupied. We were close enough to hear their entire conversation throughout dinner, and I just thought it was an odd experience because that had never happened to me before. Though it did not hinder me from enjoying the food I would have preferred to be seated at our own table.

GENERALIZED REVIEW:…read more Came here with a friend from theatre after a full run--he had this place recommended to him by another theatre friend, so we're just passing on the word. The plaza was a bit confusing to navigate, and I'm pretty sure if the place weren't full of Asian parents and their kids, it would've felt like the shadiest place ever because you have to enter from the back. Otherwise, the plaza had a lot of great-looking stores overall. My first go-to: I've loved drinking Kirin Light ever since I discovered it in Chicago. The flavor is literally so light, with a slight acidity that brightens up my meal. The sake here was frankly also delicious. I didn't order it, but my friend did, and they had it warmed. The flavor was soothing and subtle, almost like tea. It was exceptionally easy to drink, and the ocean-themed ceramicware was a beautiful touch. We ordered two rolls: the Shaggy Dog and the Truffalufagus (a fun tongue-twister). I personally chose the Truffalufagus (which is not fun to spell) because it seemed like the most unique dish on the menu, and I enjoyed it very much. What I liked most about it was that it was subtle yet impactful. I also loved the textures--from the internal crunch paired with the fresh jalapeño to the softness of the fish. I'm glad I gave this roll a shot, and I would be excited to try it again anytime. The Shaggy Dog was great, but it appealed less to my flavor profile. It was a little too rich and creamy for me. I recommended this place to my BF as a potential future date spot--I personally think he would like it... if he weren't the type to enjoy AYCE sushi so much. If they had more unique rolls, I would definitely come back just for those. I was tempted to order the Surf and Turf for this round, but I didn't want to seem like a glutton, hahaha.
