What a fortuitous discovery! Had just finished shopping at Home Depot across the street when we stumbled upon Thai Society. So glad that we did. Small strip mall restaurant. Seated within minutes on a Friday night. The food is oh so good! For starters we had satay chicken and the thom kah soup. Good sizes and the flavor of the soup was amazing. Followed up with a Thai salad and a chicken dish wokked with eggplant and other yummy vegetables. Very pleased and will return again. read more

Daaannng, been here since they opened and they were perfect back then. Came back after awhile and since then it seems that the plates got smaller prices got higher and they conformed to the taste buds of the surrounding community ie, no spice, super sweet= diabetes! Ordered the 3 spice fish (?) but it tasted like candy! Where's the spices?! Same with the Penang curry. Got lowest level 3. Pppffftttt. Nothing. I got my mouth ready for fire but NOTHING! ‍ So sad... Service took forever and the women servers weren't to friendly. WHAT HAPPENED?!? ‍ This sucks. Gotta find a new Thai joint. Bummer. read more

Average Thai place hidden within the Ranch Town Shopping Center. Ordered to go a couple of times. The first time had a 45 minute wait. The second time was not much better. Was at Black Whale looking at lighting when my fiance spotted Thai Society from across the parking lot. This is a great restaurant if you are vegan like us. Many, many options, well-spiced and fairly-priced. Some stuff, like the array of wok dishes, those are not normally found in other Thai restaurants. The restrooms are squeezed into the back and are surprisingly large given the tiny size of the restaurant. They appear to be ADA-compliant. This little Thai restaurant is able to stand on it's own, despite the location in the middle of a shopping center. But great to know about as a really good vegan-friendly place if you're shopping in that area of Encinitas. read more

$20 for a bowl of soup and I have to have it take away or eat out of plastic bowls with the tiniest plastic spoons. This is the only restaurant in town that I've been to that doesn't cater to their customers. It's really annoying. I've been a customer of this restaurant since we moved to Carlsbad nearly 4 years ago. One thing I like about Thai restaurant is that they're super cute. They just look nice. The owner of this restaurant is just too cheap to hire a dishwasher. That's the only thing I can figure out. This is our go-to Thai place for delivery and pick up. My husband usually orders the yellow curry with chicken, which he gets a spicy level of 7 or 8 and devours the curry with rice. I get the pad thai with chicken, and it's flavorful and plentiful for lunch the next day. We like this place because it's consistently delicious and we know what we're getting. The people who work here, including the delivery guys, are very kind and sweet. They always have a smile on their faces. I am a regular at this restaurant. Several occasions, when I order for pick up, my most favorite dish (fried banana with coconut ice cream) is not available. This is huge disappointment. Yesterday, I order for dinner and the person checked to confirm fried banana is available and I ordered two of them along with other menu items. I dove 14 miles to pick my order and I was told that fried banana is not available. Huge disappointment. Excellent lunch specials. Panang curry with tofu, green beans and red bell peppers was excellent, fresh crispy vegetables, spicy, tangy and savory. Lunch specials come with a fresh salad with a delicate peanut dressing, a veggie spring roll and delish coconut soup. The yellow curry is also fragrant, spicy and tasty. Being originally from the Bay Area I had my pick of any number of great Thai restaurants, but in San Diego they have been hard to come by. I usually judge a Thai restaurant by their Pad Thai, while it isn't the best I have had, it will do. Could punch up the flavor a bit and add a lime wedge in my opinion. I think their best dishes are the drunken noodles (fat noodle) or their curry. Caution Always ask the spice level. Changes for each dish. You could easily end up with a four alarm fire if not. We only order take out. I actually have no idea where the restaurant is. Given the fast deliver they could be on my block for all i know. They will alway suggest the food will take about 60-80 min, but expect it at your door in 20. The delivery boys are very polite and respectful of your home. I recommend everyone try them. They are our go to. read more

Came here for a stop on the way to LA. Hubby had curry noodle and I have crispy chicken rice. Both are very good. The curry is full of flavor and well balance. The chicken is fried perfect, crispy and not oily. Staff are very nice, we get water within a few mins we sat down. Totally recommend it. read more

Uh oh, so sorry to say I did not enjoy the curry noodles with chicken or the papaya salad or even the thai iced coffee. I tipped well and spent $25.00 on my lunch that I threw most of away. someone in the kitchen is extremely heavy handed with the sugar or sweetener! OMG, sweet curry, sweet fresh salad, and syrupy coffee...one sip and no more. I was super hungry, so ate some of the lunch, but regretted it. The food is pretty good. However, I would recommend only taking out here. The staff appears to resent that we are here as patrons. The person seemingly in charge is dismissive to her employees and avoiding eye contact with the patrons, at best. Someone seems to be smoking cigarettes in the kitchen full time, which is unappealing. I wouldn't "dine in" here again. My favorite Thai restaurant in North County is Lotus Thai downtown Carlsbad but I moved to La Costa and this place was closer so I thought I'd test it out with the Pad Thai. I've had a lot of Pad Thai and while this looks like it, I don't really know what I just ate... the typical pad Thai flavor just isn't there. The noodles almost smell fishy and taste almost citrusy? There's hardly any egg, and the tofu is rubbery and over cooked. As a pregnant person craving pad thai this just didn't do it for me. Also, the restaurant was really small and when you walk in for takeout everyone stares at you because there's nothing else to look at. I think I'll make the extra 10 mile drive to Lotus Thai next time. read more

My husband and I went to Thai Society tonight, hungry and having never written a yelp review. Our experience warranted informing the community about our experience. We eventually were seated by a woman and man. The woman was using floral scissors to clip vegetables. She continued to clip the vegetables even after we told her that it was an annoying sound. When asked she admitted to being an employee. She had gauze and coban wrapped around a finger on her left hand. No glove! The sound was like listening to toe nails being cut. The cutting far exceeded the number of toe nails most people cut. We heard it for at least 10-15 minutes. So I'm wondering why didn't she stop after we told her it was very annoying? Why didn't she have a glove on while working with food given the bandaged finger? Call me "hangry" or a complainer but never make me go to Thai Society again. This place BLOWS. read more

Loved this place. I struggle with finding a place that really knows how to make the pad Thai spicy. I have had one restaurant that makes me a special dish with the heat level of a 15. But when I went to Thai Society I asked for a 10 and I met my match. It was delicious and perfectly spicy. I also knew I couldn't ask for any more heat! I loved the dish! I will start off by saying my family loves Thai food. One of our favorite places closed so we have been bouncing around a few new places. Most that we have tried have not so good food or just ok food. We have a few regular places we go to depending what part of the county we are in, but none that we have fallen in love with. Tried this place for lunch. I only ordered 2 items: Tom Ka soup & Pad Thai. The soup was really good but simple. No chunks of chicken or vegies...just broth. The only solid matter was a lime leaf and the tiniest piece of a mushroom. But the broth was unusually concentrated and potent. It was different and better than what I expected. I'd come back here for that alone. The theme of simplicity also appeared in the Pad Thai. But it was too simple. It seemed to be missing a few things ...no cilantro...no pieces of lime. There were maybe 3 or 4 bean sprouts and 2 or 3 little pieces of green onion. Only a tiny amount of egg bits. It was pretty much noodles and chicken. That dish could be improved by adding more stuff. If you have never been here; you have to go! Unbelievable food! Decent service too! Try the PANANG (under curry section on menu). You can add chicken, shrimp or beef. It is so good & spicy. Their appetizers are really good & their Ramen bowl with Tempura Shrimp didn't disappoint us.
