Bangrak is hands down the best Thai food I have had in Toronto. It is a bit of a drive for me but…read moredefintely worth it and I make sure I order a feast everytime. I highly recommend the Thai fish cakes as the appetizer. They are super tasty and the dipping sauce is amazing. I also highly recommend their massaman beef curry. The curry itself is super addicting with slightly spicy and deep and rich flavors. Trust me and order an extra bowl of rich to slurp up all that goodness. Their pad ka prao with ground pork is another dish that's a winner to me and I always get this everytime I go. With strong basil flavors and the fried egg seals the deal. And of course you cannot leave without finishing off your meal with coconut sticky rice infused with butterfly pea extract and the Thai milk tea. The mangoes are super sweet and paired with the fresh sticky rice and coconut milk that has a slight salty taste that actually accentuates the sweetness of the coconut milk. Everyone is super friendly however they can get quite busy on weekends and holidays so best to order ahead.

Unfortunately it was a disappointment…read more Ordered: - Crispy Pad Thai with chicken : chicken was very limited ( there was more tofu ) and extremely dry. Portion was very small for the price $18. Noodles were not crispy and super oily/ soggy - granted I ordered take out. It tasted like the soggy won ton chips in a noodle dish :S - Khao Soi- this had to be the most authentic tasting dish . I'm not a fan of curry and thought this tasted not bad. Portion again was smaller than other places we've been to - KHAO PAD KA PRAO- this tasted like Chinese fried rice with super dry as sand beef. Taste wise was not bad but not authentic Thai and not what I expected. Again not worth it for the price point $19

Toronto Review 4/Many: I went to this excellent Lanzhou spot with another person as one of my…read moreearlier meals. Our server, Sophia, was bubbly and friendly, giving suggestions and helping with the ordering process for the other person who wasn't as sure what they wanted. We eventually went with two appetizers and two entrees, which was more than enough food, and honestly, we could have only ordered one appetizer. The better of the two appetizers was the CAD 8.95 Hand Shredded Pepper Chicken/手撕椒麻雞/Shou Si Ji. The dish consists of cold chicken in a flavorful sauce, topped with some greens. The chicken was tender, with a mild, pleasant spice and a bit of numbingness from the Sichuan peppercorns, along with some fragrance, presumably from sesame oil. It reminded me a bit of salivating chicken you find in some Szechuan spots, but it was more aromatic and a bit less spicy. The other appetizer was the Steamed Edamame/岩鹽毛豆 with Himalayan pink salt for CAD 5.95. The other person chose between this and the vegetable dumplings, as he avoids pork, and it was, of course, lighter than the other appetizer. The decent portion of edamame was topped with some pickled carrots as a garnish. My main dish was the Braised Beef Noodles/紅燒牛肉面/Hong Shao Niu Rou Mian. The dish included several options, including size, noodle style, and spice level. I chose the large for CAD $20.95, medium spice, and for the noodle style, I chose flat/宽面, as it was closest to the prism style I like at Lanzhou spots in the States. Along with these, I also added a tea egg for an extra CAD 2.95. Outside the add-on, the dish also had a couple of large slices of radish. Compared to some spots in NYC, I slightly preferred the QQ/bouncy texture of the noodles at a spot near me. However, the broth was better here with a balanced amount of mala, though I would likely order spicy next time, as I tend to add chili oil to the relatively lighter Lanzhou broths. The beef was also much better, being tender with a mild chew regardless of whether it was tendon or other cuts. The tea egg was flavorful and worth the add-on, especially when the inside was dipped further into the broth. I can see why others order this. The other person went with the Signature Stir-fried Noodles/招牌炒面/Chao Tatiaozi. There was an option of protein, and he went with Chicken for $17.95 and added the same egg. I tried a bit, and there was a pleasant pepperiness with a bit of numbing flavor, but less than my dish. The noodles had a good bounciness and overall had a slightly better chewiness than mine. This was lighter overall, but also tasty. This spot has apparently come to the US already at the Mall of America, and I would love it if there were a location closer to me. Good place.

The other noodle dishes I've tried from here have been consistently good as well. They let you select what noodle thickness you like, and I think the thick flat noodles were too big for me, I was making a fool out of myself trying to slurp them all up ! I recommend getting medium ones so sauce doesn't splash all over you like what happened to me! A great, affordable meal option.

I had their Rou-Si Pork noodle soup, one of my favourites. It was delicious, with rich flavour. It hit the right spots and satisfied my craving. While dining, the couple at the next table struck up a conversation with me and offered to share their dessert. Yes! I couldn't resist the Fried Banana, one of my favourites. Thank you! Besides the great tasting food and friendly service, diners received a gift from the restaurant to commemorate their anniversary. Thank you and congratulations to Jin's Mi-Fen! Jin's Mi-Fen hails from Hunan's Changde City in the northwest part of Hunan Province in China. The restaurant itself has a nice bright interior with plenty of seating. I was seated quickly and given the opportunity to ask the server if you have any questions about ingredients. The server recommended the most popular item on the menu which was the Signature Spicy Beef Double Up, 招牌双拼牛肉粉 , where it's a combination of 2 different kinds of beef, cooked 2 ways. M2. combined together with M3 on the menu. M2. 酱香牛肉粉 JIANGXIANG BEEF LOIN (STRIPLOIN) M3. 津市麻辣牛肉粉 - MALA SPICY BEEF JERKY (EYE ROUND) The server forgot to mention that this dish is recommended with soup on the side. She mentioned that the Signature Spicy Beef Double Up is spicy and said that, even when customers opt for a mild spice level, it does contain spices. She recommended to request no spice if you're unsure of spice preferences. Good advice. I like it hot and spicy, and in the end the cautious approach failed to deliver the requisite heat. I ordered 2 different soups using the table's QR Code sticker. M5. 番茄牛腩粉 - TOMATO BRAISED BEEF BRISKET M1. 招牌双拼牛肉粉 - SIGNATURE DOUBLE BEEF You get to choose the noodles and spice level ahead of time. For being the most popular MUST TRY choice among customers the Signature Spicy Beef Double Up wasn't my most popular choice. The broth was watery, salty and lacked spice. On the bright side, springy soft noodles and pickled vegetables were the MVPs, with the pickled vegetables adding a nice sour and crunchy texture. The Original beef brisket noodle tomato soup was a favourite! The sweet-tangy flavour of the tomato went well with the tender soft and chewy beef brisket. This one's a winner! 老配方牛骨牛肉真實熬湯 . They make their soup in house from an old-fashioned 400-year-old recipe which uses real beef bones, no MSG, and 24 herbs. When you are ready to pay the bill, there are a few steps to walk down to get to the bar area. I had a nice chat with the really friendly people who will cash you out. Glad to see this authentic Hunan style mi-fen noodle restaurant open in Durham!

Food was hot and fresh, big portions, great quality and very friendly customer service. One thing to note, if you're looking for the BanBan style Korean fried chicken, this really is not it. The chicken they have is still very good, but it is not sauce coated (they provide dips instead) and the dip flavors are limited. But other than that, fantastic place to go for Korean food. Nice atmosphere, easy parking, right next to Costco if you want to do some shopping afterward.

We had their Pork Bone Soup, Korean Fried Chicken, and Fried Tofu. Some of the usual side dishes were included - kimchi, bean sprouts, pickled radish, glass noodles, and a bowl of purple rice. The pork bone soup was pretty good, with lots of meaty pieces and a rich broth. The tofu was flavourful but a bit spicy for my friend. The chicken was very tasty, especially with the honey garlic dipping sauce included. Overall, we enjoyed the food and found it all very reasonably priced, with good portions, especially the chicken. Our server was very polite and friendly. This was a good meal!

My visit to Noodle Max would be one of these unexplained phenomenon. I was really hoping to try this hyped up beef noodle place in Richmond Hill, only to have my hope squashed by a long line up at 4:20pm in the afternoon. 4:20!!! WTH!!! On a snowy, slushy late afternoon, I blindly (and slowly) drove my way aimlessly to Aurora. I remember some Asian restaurant getting rave reviews up in Aurora and that being Noodle Max (maybe it wasn't so aimless). If you are someone who believes in destiny, I can tell you destiny will occasionally give you sxxxxy things. Noodle Max would be one of them. Noodle Max's main offerings are Lan Zhou style noodles and was it ever an unauthentic and underwhelming experience. I wouldn't go as far to say the soup was tasteless like water, but it's pretty bland. While the soup for Lan Zhou noodles are not generally crazy strong in flavour, it should still have the taste of spices. The beef slices were also pretty tame in flavour. They were ok. The main plus about their noodle was the portion; quite big. The noodle had better texture than most store bought noodles, but it did not have the proper floury taste and the limited flavours from the soup was not able to hang onto the noodles. Aurora used to be a black hole in terms of dining options, but not anymore. How Noodle Max continued to garner such a high Yelp and Google rating befuddles me.

I don't usually trust places with chicken balls on the menu but I'm so glad we gave this place a chance. As a party of 6 on a Saturday at 8pm, they were able to easily accommodate us. Parking is also very easy to find. The menu is very extensive and can easily be overwhelming, with over 100 items. However the staff are very helpful in describing what each item is, recommending what's most popular and what they personally like. We never had Cambodian cuisine before, so we took their recommendations and they were bang-on! It was my first time having Cambodian-style pho - the soup base is garlic based rather than bone broth based, which honestly I think I prefer more! The wings were also crispy (not much special flavour) and beef skewers were very lemongrass-tasting, which was refreshing. Their prices are also not bad at all. If I was in the area, I would definitely come back.
